So I did try making this bread but I didn’t do a good job making the braid, but the bread came out perfectly. Smells so good in my kitchen! Nothing so good like fresh bread 😋 Thank you for this recipe ma’am. I will keep this always. Stay bless and do what you do❤️🙏🏼
I made one tweak by adding 1/4 cup melted butter and 1/4 cup cold Crisco, but this was great! My family LOVED it. Bread was gone by the afternoon. Thank so much and enjoy your Christmas ❤🎄😊.
I just made 2 loaves by doubling your recipe. My goodness it’s amazing. The aroma, the texture, the taste, absolutely amazing. Best of all it was such a simple technique with minimal ingredients. I love it. Thank you so much. ❤
Omg I can't believe I did this. After you sliced the bread you brought it closer to the camera for us to get a look. Do you know I leaned my head towards my computer to smell your bread...lol. I like how your dough came out. I don't recall the time I baked bread because I'm only making tennis rolls. I'll try you recipe.
Metemgee, thanks so much for sharing this family recipe. I have made several Guyanese plait breads, and this recipe is the best one I have tried. It was soft, fluffy, buttery deliciousness. It didn't even get to cool. It was gone in 15 minutes. I made the dough in my Zo. It doubled in size w/i 45 minutes. The 2nd rise took even less time. This is definitely a keeper.
OMG .. Now you stole my heart.. Tell Andrew (I guess the hubby?).. goodbye!!! - Seriously - This was amazing .. I just tried it .. and it was a HIT!! (Kid form GT)
Thank you so much for the easiest recipe ever! I'm one of those people who was always discouraged from baking bread because kneading is so intimidating to me, and also seems like so much work. I tried this three times so far and it was perfect each time.
Thanks for you sharing. I made bread for the pepper pot and it turned out great and delicious. Happy holidays and season greeting to you and your family. 💕🇨🇦🇬🇾
I have fail so many times at making 🍞 After watching your video I had to give it a try again. It came out perfect and taste amazing. Thanks for your recipe. Was unable to upload a photo ☹️
Seems like that recipe is a regional thing for I am from across the east/west bridge, your grandmother and my mom would make bread the same way. I grew up in east ruimveldt, and went to primary school in west ruimveldt.
Wow that is awesome thank you for sharing your recipe for making guyanese home made plat bread , happy New Year to you an your family stay safe ,can't wait to try it thx again. 🙏💖👍
Your recipe is great my mom makes her bread the same way.she never use a recipe soft and delicious (she passed away)we r from East Ruimveldt. . God Bless u.stay safe.
I am so proud of myself, thank you for this simple and easy to do recipe🙏🏽. I was in your kitchen and you were in mine. In fact, you have been in mine for the last week and a half, your black cake recipe came out incredible as well.
Thanks for sharing. I can't eat bread as well (diabetes) but it looks like a wonderful gift to share. A few questions: I really didn't see a lot of bubbles when you proofed the yeast. I would have thrown it out and started again. You also said to proof the yeast in a cool place....I would have chosen a warm environment. Also after the dough was made you again mentioned setting it aside in a cool place as an alternative to the oven. Didn't quite understand this either..or suggestion.
Hello, great video and you instructions are absolutely awesome. You gave your measurements in cups, for this bread recipe, can you please say in pounds how much flour was used. I don't know how much is a cup in imperial measurements. Thanks, will be watching all your other amazing videos.
I am gonna make this bread tomorrow for my pepperpot and garlic pork but i will add anise seed to the recipe and then it will be just like my mom use to make and it smells up the entire house.....oh tha memories.
This recipe was soooo easy. I never thought I could make bread!! It came out so soft and delicious. I’m gonna make the bread this year for Pepper Pot! THANK YOU!
oh my god I'm making this bread right now imho excited.. i have a mixer so i cheated and use my mixer to knead the dough but imhopeful that it will turn out great!
It's my second time using your recipe it came out great both times thank you! The second time I however substituted criso for butter and found it to be even softer.
Hiya, thanks so much for such a clear video and amazing recipe, I just tried it and it came out delicious!! I also added the half cup butter which I will stick to because the texture was amazingly soft and heavenly!! I made it for my pepperpot for Christmas breakfast but half of it is almost gone 😂. Merry Christmas!
Hi, just tried your bread recipe, YumEE 😋 but, I have an electric oven and the bottom got too brown but, not burnt, just crunchy and I love the crunch. I have a delish recipe as well but, yours has less ingredients and it tastes just as YumEE 😋 I also use Vegan butter! Sincere thanks for your simple yummy 😋 bread recipe 🤗👍🏽👍🏽thanks to your grandma as well🙏🏽 Eating it as I write this lol.
Thank you so much for sharing your recipe, mine jus came out of the oven and it was perfect 😊 and the right texture, soft. Can't believe I made that, it's amazing just the way I prefer bread. thanks again.
It looks great so I'm guessing it tastes great too...taking your word for it! I usually bake bread on Saturdays, something for my Hubby to eat,if he didn't buy any...lol.At the beginning, sometimes it didn't have enough salt...(I noticed there was no salt added to yours.)...sometimes not enough sugar...but now I think I have it down pat.I also bake Salara (Guyanese red coconut roll)....and Guyanese Pine tarts.I also add an egg to 1 cup yogurt ,to my bread.
Thank you so much for sharing this amazing recipe. I made bread for the first time and it came out wonderful i still cannot believe i made it. I have a question i would like to bake 3 more bread, Should i use 3 packs of yeast or just the one pack that the recipe recommended?
1/4 cup of butter is one stick, 1/2 cup of butter is two sticks. The amount of butter used was correct. By the way, there is no need to cut the butter into the flour, since you are not making biscuits. For bread, melted butter is fine. The butter is going to melt anyway as you knead the dough. Thanks for the video.
The butter I bought comes in 1/2 cup sticks. That is why I said it was a happy accident. I meant to use a 1/4 cup stick but used a 1/2 cup stick instead. This is how my grand mother taught me bread and how I’ll continue to do it to honor her memory. Thank you for your comment.
You did not say if you put salt but I think you did it so can you please give me the measurement it was a great recipe and I’m gonna try it I’m from Canada
Yes I always do that after I bake my bread. Thank you, I didn’t want it to go bad that’s why I asked and yes, it’s soft and tasty. Mine stayed well too for days!
Hello there, I make one regular challah. Then another smaller one. Then place the small challah in the middle of the big challah and thus bake it. Then out comes a great beauty applies in the challah. Give it a try. All the best to you
This looks really good and I like your temperament. However, I didn’t hear you mentioned you placed baking powder. I saw you sprinkled something on the bread when you started to mix it after adding the water/ sugar and yeast. Possibly that was the baking powder? Thank you. It looks great nevertheless.
I just made bread for the first time recently. My husband is Guyanese and our elder told me I should learn to plait. So, thank you for this recipe!
I tried your recipe today and my bread came out perfect. Plus this is my first time baking bread. Thank you for this recipe!
Bless your beautiful guyanese grandma. She passed her amazing talent for cooking and baking on to you❤️
Third year using your recipe and it never disappoints! I put my own twist and it's so delicious. Thank you! Happy holidays to you and yours!
Oh em Gee!! This is the best bread ever!! Thank you for sharing your delicious recipe!!❤❤❤❤
I appreciate this recipe. The reason why it has no milk or egg included.
Real traditional Guyanese bread preparation.❤thx
So I did try making this bread but I didn’t do a good job making the braid, but the bread came out perfectly. Smells so good in my kitchen! Nothing so good like fresh bread 😋 Thank you for this recipe ma’am. I will keep this always. Stay bless and do what you do❤️🙏🏼

I made this last night ... OMG!! It was so good... I shared it with my neighbor and she loved it... this is now my go to

I made one tweak by adding 1/4 cup melted butter and 1/4 cup cold Crisco, but this was great! My family LOVED it. Bread was gone by the afternoon. Thank so much and enjoy your Christmas ❤🎄😊.
You really dont need the crisco. The butter makes it nice and soft. Better to invest a higher quality butter.
I just made 2 loaves by doubling your recipe. My goodness it’s amazing. The aroma, the texture, the taste, absolutely amazing. Best of all it was such a simple technique with minimal ingredients. I love it. Thank you so much. ❤
