I think Tommy is one of those rare guitar greats who truly walks in abundance and joy; meaning, he wants and loves to see other guitar players having as much accomplishment, joy, and success with the guitar as he has (or even more). You can tell by his demeanor when you see him dealing with and encouraging his guitar-playing fans. So yes, I could totally see him throwing a guitar competition just so someone else could win.
