On a hot August night in 2022, driving down a dusty country road with the windows down, this song came on the radio. Instant love. Blows my mind how much music is still waiting to be discovered.
Indeed, and with the ‘infinite’ freedom of choice on an online platform-we still need guidance, be it radio, DJs etc This applies to many mediums of education/entertainment material, such as films/ books.
BIGG THANKSS "K.K."!!!....Really curious about this film now~any film with Jean Smart is worth a serious look~& if it has music of this caliber in it, then it's gotta be a true WINNER!! :-))
I heard this song for the first time as a kid in a Sears department store while my mom was shopping. I'm not sure why but the song kind of made me feel afraid. I have no clue why but I felt alone and sad. It could've just been the simple timbre of the song. As a child, we're always surrounded with energetic pop music. The more carefully crafted, soothing music becomes obscured in the saturated music scene so it's a bit of a shock to hear something like this in the most unexpected moments. As I grew older I've kind of rediscovered the song and it conjured up these dark feelings once more. However, this time it was somewhat bittersweet. Now, I see the beauty in this song. I've grown to love it. It's a calming piece of nostalgia for me. I know this little story might not be of importance or might be just weird to whoever is reading this butI just wanted to share my experience with this song. Music can impact your life on all levels.. just amazing.
I like that you shared your experiences and feelings about this song because that is what music is supposed to do. It can in an instant bring us right back to a moment or experience in our lives and open us up to remembering who we are and how we got where we now are. This song evokes a feeling of dark beauty for me and the video amazingly matches the sound so well that it's one of my favorites to this day. What great imagry!
Satori Zoom I totally understand your connection to this song and having the memory be so vidid... many of my favorite songs came to me in those ways... I can always remember details around hearing it. I enjoyed reading about your experience. Perhaps your fear was related to your intuition... as you may not have understood the lyrics at that time, they are definitely the words of someone basically awakening to reality and finding it frightening... in a slightly ambiguous way... I would say you are an "old soul" -- if you believe in that sort of thing. If not, we can just say you were emotionally mature for your young age and also have great taste in music! ♡
I understand completely you :) and I discovered that each music listened and re-listened in our lifetime is a kind of "milestone" . That's why from the beginning of my teen ages to my 30 years old I'm trying to demystify those musics by ...own them all :D and then to make a kind of personnal compilation. Maybe you should do this too but remember "the time" win whatever you will do :) . thank for your shared experience! And don't worry ...be happy ^^
Well, I heard this over 5 years ago from a friend that got it from Garden State and have been listening to it ever since, and here I am again because of Season 3 Episode 3 of House, M.D.'s ending. A very terrific song.
My first girlfriend in high school put this on a mix tape for me back in 2005. I just watched Garden State and it brought back some good, bad and awkward memories. haha
+lame jane But I think it still could've looked old school like TJ Deso was saying and still be better quality. Either way I do like the video even if it is in minecraft quality...
Watched a movie last night that I thought was pretty darn good and wanted to share it with you folks that enjoy films that are simple, yet complex, a little off-the-wall, and certainly thought provoking. "Garden State", starring Natalie Portman and Zach Branf. There are scenes that everyone of us can relate to, and the soundtrack is very, very good. Here's a sample of one of the songs which I think is beautiful.

I randomly bought this album in the summer of 2001. I was living in Hoboken at the time and they had a pretty cool music store. I just picked this CD for no apparent reason off the "new releases" shelf. Glad I did! Great album.
I used to discount these guys coz they sort of rip off Air “Moon Safari” from soup to nuts, but time has softened my stance and I can enjoy them for their own merits. They gave many wonderful songs. This being one of them.
House dm season 3 episode 13 at the end with the case with the boy who has a toothpick in his liver from his crazy dad eating a toothpick all the time in hose mouth their family was nuts and the kid was bright and could have had a great opportunity with Forman but blew it because he wanted to continue working with his family and thought formans life was sad because he went home to no one everyday. I first heard this on the Garden State soundtrack and thought it was one wonderfully trippy stroll into a place where I'd love to be! A absolute work of creative and meditative beauty.
Heard this on the TV series House Episode 3 Series 13 at the very end of the show. It's a repeat showing as I saw the series today (17 Dec 2012). I shall listen to more Zero 7 stuff. However, I fear this is as mellow as it gets for me any less would have to be really really good and this just about hits that mark.
Why can't I "like" this more than once, dammit?? I've been trying for years and keep forgetting that I've already "like"d it :D (Obviously this is a huge favorite of mine.. over & over & over & over &......)
