You're so right Mike, no one could have written a better tribute than Tim did. It's stirring, motivating, and like everything he writes, thought provoking, while still being humorous. It celebrates the building, those who created it, those who perform in it, and those who just love it. Thanks for the lovely reaction. ✌❤
Mate tim is on an international tour sold out tickets $100+ just to watch him sit on stage being interviewed. We Minchkins know that any time tim talks its priceless.
"If you keep it locked up tight, you just might keep the world out." Let's never do that. I love Tim's wordplay, and I enjoy that he keeps doing and showing the complete opposite to playing it safe.
Loved so many parts of this but especially seeing Winifred Atwell in a hard hat playing the piano. She was British but moved to live in Australia later in her life so was frequently on Oz TV back then.
The Sydney Opera House was designed by Danish architect Jorn Utzon after winning the contract. He never came to Australia to see his work finished because of a few changes made to the plans to make it more practical and useable. I think they look like shells too, although they are suppose to represent Sails.
@@SonofBuck-f7z at the end of the video Tim puts a little plastic man on the original model of the Opera House. I always thought it was a black man and he was putting it there amongst all the little plastic white men as a symbol- you know, indigenous and white coming together etc. Anyway I’ve recently been told it is a purple man (I’m colour blind so I just saw it as black).. and it became a bit of a funny thing in the comments on other reactions. I’m not sure the purple man has any significance so I still like my take better 😂 ❤️
@@barkeraus ahh so I’ve been informed the purple was most likely because of Pavarotti’s infamous rejection of the purple carpet- he refused to perform on purple and they changed the whole thing to red for him. Subsequently they put it back and it’s now renowned for its bright purple carpets in lobbies and foyers.
This video is full of symbolism e.g. the opening shot of the orange is that put all the sails together and you get a whole orange - this was used to explain the engineering
Yes it is a nice song and well performed by all but it is sad that the Sydney Opera House is one of the famous listed buildings that will be destroyed after the global EBS when people find out all about the sa&&tanic ca*bal and the massive biblical and galactic ancient war we have been in and thanks to Trump and the White Hat alliance finally is ending. Others listed for destruction include Buckingham Palace, Eiffel Tower, Statue of LIberty, White House, Getty Museum, Parliament House in Canberra (Australia), Jeffery Epstein's Island, I have forgotten the name but Anderson Cooper's mum's house - there's at least 34 but it might be 39 places - all will be given the energy weapon called Rods of God that the ca*bal used on us to start bushfires etc. What has been going on below the Opera House with children is the reason for destroying it. Kate Middleton was killed by the ca*bal after walking in on rituals headed by the Queen. She was replaced with a clone. There's clones everywhere. Even the so called King Charles is a clone. The real Charles was ex*ecuted back when his parents were in 2018. Same with Biden and son - both gone and replaced by clones. The real president during this play to wake up you normies is Trump. He'll be back soon. The ca*bal want to put him in jail on 17th Sept so if that is what happens, the EBS will be here in Sept. Otherwise I think it is December. I have been waiting years for this, like all truthers. So far only one thing was destroyed - Georgia Guidestones with the ca*bal's plan to get rid of 90% humanity. If it wasn't for Trump and the earth and galactic alliances, we would have died in 2020 - all of us. The covid thing was a way of killing people off too with jabs - bioweapons. There was never a virus. The Queen of England and Bill Gates put the patent out a year or so earlier for the corona (crown) virus. I knew it was fake from the beginning because you can't get a virus in the air. As for the masks, another long term way of killing people. If you wore one for several hours in a work environment for instance, you would lose 17% of your natural immunity permanently because you are not breathing in fresh air. Within a year you would have lost 34% and by the 18 month mark you are just over 50%. When you are there, a common cold can kill you.
@@chatubarecords You will be saying that to yourself when the worldwide EBS happens in a few weeks/months. You will be screaming in the streets. You have NO idea what is coming!!!
Tim Minchin's song comes into sharp relief when you look back on the Sydney Opera House's inception and construction. "Budgeted at an initial cost of $7 million, the Opera House ended up costing more than $100 million and took more than a decade to construct. That cost blowout, of 1400 per cent, makes Sydney's Opera House the most expensive cost blowout in the history of megaprojects around the world." It was a political hot potato and was front page news for years, for all the wrong reasons. "The NSW state government broke every rule of good infrastructure planning to bring her to life. "As it was proposed at the time, the Sydney Opera House should never have been built. And yet, by fluke it has turned into one of our most valuable national assets. According to modelling by Deloitte, the Opera House adds $775 million to the Australian economy every year in direct ticket sales, retail and food spending and by boost to tourism to Australia." I had a chuckle when you laughed and said, "There's Barnsey!" You're definitely an honorary Aussie. 🐨🦘
Tim was the perfect choice for doing this tribute!

He’s a national treasure a comedic musical and literary genius
I dont know how I missed you reviewing this one, his writing and performance here is so uniquely and extraordinarily Tim! ⭐🙋💗
Same here, I only just found it and I’m subscribed.

Yup, going 😊

Not sure whether you were aware - but Tim does so many things - he was the music behind the film 'Matilda'
The little plastic man at the end is purple. If you know, you know 😂 😜

...and the shadow the orange peel forms is a silhouette of The Opera House.
A Tim Minchin song I haven’t heard???! Thanks Sue and Mike 🙏
Buck - you need to check out the 'Ship Song' (Sydney Opera House version).
Well done Sue with that recommendation! I hadn't seen that before!

The good news was that, I believe, it only took two years to recoup the cost.
