    I live in Australia and I took delivery of my first lot of Diamond Cast blanks. I was impressed with how easy they are to turn. Once I had finished turning and polishing, I was amazed at the finish. I will definitely be turning more of them. Thank you for the demo.

    I have been using Stadium Pen Blanks Magic Juice (MJ) Polishing Compound for over 10 years now. I have found that generating too much heat and pressure in the lower early grits of the polish can have an adverse affect. I would recommend a lighter pressure if you are new to using MJ. A little bit does go a long way. If your MJ ever gets thick or starts to dry out from leaving your caps open, a small amount of filtered water (distilled water is best but bottled water is a close second) can be used to thin the polish back down. It is water based so it can dry out if left open.

    Absolutely beautiful finish. I wish there was a greater appetite for woodturning and products in the UK - sometimes I get a bit hacked off that I can't simply 'go and get' something that I need.

    Huh! How does this stuff compare to the Dr. Kirk's Micro Magic? I picked some Micro Magic up recently, and I've absolutely loved it!

    You say a few hundred pens but are these bottles the 1 or 2oz size? Hard to tell...if I had to guess, I'd say 2, but I would like to know to set expectations if I go with 1oz to start (hobbyist, not a business).
    I'm just starting up turning and looking for a balance between cost and time, these seem to be a bit pricier per oz over CA but if I don't have to buy a buffing attachment for my lathe, it seems like it will save me time and buying another part.
    I think turners should have stock in blue shop towels. 😂😂 Thanks for the demo, this stuff looks amazing.

    Hi Mike. Great tip on the cross hatch sanding thanks. Can I ask is scotch bright an equivalent to mirlon ? Thanks again

      There are a variety of scotch-brite pads. The green is 600 grit and the blue is 1000 grit. Those may be a bit too coarse, but if you already have some, give it a shot.

    Thanks for the video! Do you suggest buffing or any kind of final (Novus/One Step plastic polish/Meguiars) after Magic juice?

      Thank you for watching! I haven't found the need to buff after using magic juice. -Mike 😊

      When applied properly as directed in the printed instructions, Stadium Pen Blanks Magic Juice (MJ) Polishing Compound does not need a follow up of any other polishing compound or buffing wheel.

    Do I use magic juice instead of Dr. Kirks polish. AND do I still need a CA finish after Magic Juice

    • @CraftSuppliesUSA
      @CraftSuppliesUSA  4 місяці тому +1

      The magic juice can be used as a replacement for the Dr. Kirks Micro Magic. It is used to polish acrylics and CA. So if you want to put a base layer of CA, do that before polishing with the magic juice.

    Does this go on the wood itself or on top of a ca finish?

      On top of ca

      Stadium Pen Blanks Magic Juice (MJ) Polishing Compound is not to be used directly on raw or even stabilized wood. MJ is water based and can have an adverse affect on the wood. It is recommended that you have a sealing finish with something similar to Craft Coat, CA, or lacquer on the wood prior to polishing with MJ.

    Can you use the magic juice polish over top of Dr. Kirks micro magic polishing wax?

    • @CraftSuppliesUSA
      @CraftSuppliesUSA  5 місяців тому +1

      I would only use step 5 and 6 of the Magic juice over Micro Magic. They are very comparable systems, however I feel the Magic Juice gets a bit glossier. -Mike

    • @HardinPenworks

      Stadium Pen Blanks Magic Juice (MJ) Polishing Compound is an abrasive polish. Any wax base finished that is left behind in another polish will likely be completely removed while polishing with MJ. It is not recommended to be used on top of any wax based finish.

    What's the advantage of Magic Juice over your Micro-Surface abrasive sheets? Micro-Surface-style abrasive sheets are used in industry to polish the windscreens of airplanes. Used properly, Micro-Surface sheets produce an optically clear surface on plastics -- such as the plastics used in aircraft windscreens. I assume that Magic Juice doesn't do better than that (but it might do just as well). Is the advantage that it's faster than wet sanding with Micro-Surface abrasive sheets? Or does Magic Juice make less of a mess?

    • @CraftSuppliesUSA
      @CraftSuppliesUSA  5 місяців тому +2

      The biggest advantage is less steps/less time spent polishing. The micro-mesh has 9 polishing sheets and a polishing compound, these require more time and more mess to achieve the same finish as the Magic Juice. The other consideration is wet sanding makes a mess on the lathe bed and surrounding area. -Mike 😊
