BMW Replacing Coolant Transfer Pipe N62
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 сер 2024
- If you're seeing coolant leak out of the wheephole, this is the fix. The earlier version of this engine (N62) would be a very similar procedure but may require some different tools. Only 2 intake manifold gaskets are required.

Braden, thanks for this video - it gave me the confidence to take on this job. As it turns out, the coolant transfer pipe replacement solved the leak problem and I had no problem with the work after watching your video 10 times!
Thank you so much for the great video! This stuff is so much appreciated and the side notes are so helpful as well especially about not having to reset the servos. Hope to see more E70 and N62 stuff because this is pure gold to a guy who hasn't work much on BMW. Clear and concise!
I am prepping to do this repair to my X5. May God have mercy on my soul.
What happened
@@alexrosado3890 He died doing the repair. RIP, Shibby😢
@@mastertech8306 died of ligma
Just completed the dreaded valley pan and coolant pipe with help of your video!!!
Thank You so much!!
Valve cover gasket and oil seals next.
Great video guy! This is very helpful in making my decision to buy a used BMW 650i convertible that suffers from this as well as valve stem seal problems. Thank you.
I like the way you did the video super helpful thanks man, just bought one of these car and might buy a second on lol so keep the videos coming hahaba
Thanks to the clear video I did work without removing the water pump ...
Awesome video! Thank you
I have a 2010 750li with this problem. Will this work? They try to charge me 5grand at the BMW DEALER LOL.
Thank you Braden, good video !
8 hours continuous
Excellent informative video...
very good , thanks my Man
Thanak dude , keep it up
This is the best do-it-yourself video I have ever seen on youtube. I would never have done this myself without this step by step process. I was only going to replace the transfer pipe, should I also replace the water pump just in case?
typically the water pump starts leaking or rattling around 80k. you have it off, might as well.
great job
Well done.
Wonder if you could use a pipe cutter like plumbers use to cut that pipe instead of a grinder.
Still the best tutorial out there... Question, how hard to pull the outer half of the coolant pipe? The back half was easy, this front half is a pain. And how hard was it to return the 5th screw for the water pump? Thanks
Hey Braden great video, do you happen to have the item code number for the replacement coolant transfer pipe. Cheers, Ian
Is there by chance a video for the fuel lines
There is an allen head in the back of the valvetronic motor you spin to relieve tensions and remove it comfortably
Can someone tell me how much gonna be labor 4 this job thanks...
Just curious...
Should there be coolant in the valley area under the valley pan or should this area be dry (the area where the coolant transfer tube runs from the front to the back of the motor)?
dry, in the video he literally shows I'm self soaking up the coolant. and he stops the video and sais so.
I believe you are wrong. Once the valley pan is off, you can see the ports for coolant on both side-walls in the space where the coolant transfer pipe is - i.e. the chamber is specifically designed to be a sort of distribution point, which means it always has coolant in it.
It's dry on the M62 but seems wet on N62. Notice no small return line I think the valley is the return line, however if the valley is full then how would you know if the pipe is leaking. I've not worked under the intake on N62
Thx
Should coolant be inside the valley or no?
Thanks for video. Why do you prefer this version of repair vs. the stint that goes in behind the water pump?
the o ring in the back of the pipe also leaks so the stint wouldn't be a permanent fix.
hi I am looking for a computer for. a 2004 BMW x5 4.4i please help me
If you could. Do a pressure test on the coolant system on a BMW N62. And show us the tools that are needed and where to buy them that would be also helpful.
You can go rent it at your local autozone .
Is it necessary to replace the valley pan cover or more important to replace the intake manifold gaskets? or both?
kinda yes, to avoid leaks you can just clean it up and use rtv. but do it the right way plus if you look online you can find complete kits with everything you need for about 300 bucks
Since the valley pan gasket doesn't come separate from the pan, as I hoped it would, I bought a new valley pan for $60 for my E65/750i. OEM valley pan.
Wonder if anyone has tried Bar's Leak on this application?
What is this oring at the pump, what size?
Stil asking the same question today can't find the answer and part number
what is the diameter of the original tube?
Use your Weiner to measure them multiply by 1000x
What I don't understand is why you don't try a bottle of bar's leak in the cooling system first...
This same process for a 2004 740il
this cost me almost $5k at my repair shop but was still cheaper than the dealer.
Damn you overpaid. I got it done at dealer and had radiator hoses upper and lower replaced and paid less than half that...
Since I RESPECT a lot(I can fix this problem in $2.50 cent
hello..who you do that?
Gee whiz, between the timing chain problems these engine have-and coolant transfer tubes as well, these are some seriously f___ed up engines!
tempest411 I no your right but I love my BMW and I don't even no why
These N62 don’t have any timing problems at all
Agreed they are colossal failures. My n62 still going happily at 160k but if this ever happens it’s getting junked lol
must have Donald Trump have to remove certain parts of engine
