@@Adeptusridiculous The ultramarines are eh. But some of their successors, such as the Iron Snakes, or one of my favorites being the Marines Errant, are pretty awesome.
1. Bows were always the weapon of choice for samurai. Katanas, like swords all across the world, are weapons of last resort and dueling, which coincidentally is the most interesting part of combat to write about in books and movies. 2. White Scars like to fight orks because the Speed Freakz are the most similar to White Scars in combat. Drukhari have a speed focus, but prefer using cheap tactics, for instance. 3. The White Scars were a legion created for the purpose of going out ahead of the Great Crusade and softening up the galaxy ahead of them. They were built to fight xenos, which is why they still prefer it.
1. Yep. Samurai only developed a significant focus on the katana, culturally, during the years when they transitioned from warlords into landed gentry. When their place became the courts of a unified Japan, their relationship to weapons became romanticized, and few weapons were as romantic as a blade. 2. I was just thinking that the Speed Freakz seemed like a fitting counterpart to the White Scars.
People tend to not knowing that Samurai First Weapon is Bow, until i believe 1400s when they start using Blade and during Sengoku Civil War, some Samurai start using Matchlock
For point 3, the Raven Guard and Alpha Legion served a similar purpose, right? They would go in and destabilize the enemy, so that the rest of the crusade would basically just have to clean up.
If I remember correctly, while White Scars may shudder at the thought of being interred in a dreadnought, they don’t dislike those interred in them by default. From what I know, White Scar dreadnoughts are used almost entirely in the role of guarding fortress monasteries, especially the gene seed repositories. This role, as you can probably guess, doesn’t require speed, which makes it terribly boring for the average White Scar and perfect for a willing dreadnought.
White scars enjoy the sensations of life. Bring a dreadnought is numbing and this not a desired outcome. Still having an ancient warrior teaching lessons is valuable for maintaining tradition, lore, and knowledge.
I always think that the White Scar Dreadnaughts are like the retirement plan when a white scar just got enough of too much speed and they just want to stay and sleep
What really gets me wasn't the fact that Khan solo'd an entire ork army, impressive for sure... but that he routed them. He made the orks, the xenos that use weapons capable of detonating in their own faces and living for the thrill of combat, route. He made them flee in unbridled terror. Full grown boyz cowering in fear from this 1 man. That is what I find truly impressive.
It gets better when you think about both their sole purpose in life is to fight and that this was a ARMY of orks, so even the biggest and strongest of them were running and screaming from this mad man.
Something else: the part of the Imperial Truth that the Khan _really_ didn't like was lying to Humanity about the existence of the Dark Gods; the people of Chogoris knew _of_ them, and by extension so did he. So he really didn't appreciate something being called the "Truth" being based on a dangerous lie that would ultimately put more people at risk.
@Naveen KV no. Xenos were all known. But he tried to hide the existance of the chaos gods as people cant worship what they dont know. Didnt exactly work though 😂
@Naveen KV Not exactly. The Imperial Truth was basically state Atheism: there are no gods, period. The Emperor especially wanted to eradicate religion and worship because those activities feed the Dark Gods and other entities in the Warp. Because that's what they are: things in the Warp are thoughts and emotions given physical form; worshiping them just feeds them and makes them stronger. So Big E came out and said "there aren't any gods, and anything that lives in the Warp is just a feral animal." Big E's idea was that if everyone stopped worshiping the Chaos Gods, they would starve and the essence that made them would disperse back into the Immaterium. There were two major problems with that. First, the Chaos Gods are very, very powerful, and are able to influence people in the physical world to start new cults pretty much anywhere in the galaxy. Second: the Emperor, himself is also very, very powerful, to the point where people started worshiping _him_ as a god.
@Naveen KV That's exactly why Lorgar was publicly humiliated. That, and Lorgar's obsession with spreading his Emperor-worshiping religion to every planet he conquered meant he was the slowest out of all the Primarchs at bringing new worlds into the fold.
@Naveen KV It's the latter. Big E told Lorgar to quit worshiping him as a god multiple times, but Lorgar ignored him. That's mainly because Lorgar was raised on a planet that was filled with and ruled by super religious people (who actually worshiped the Chaos Gods, but unknowingly), and Lorgar adapted those beliefs before he was found by the Great Crusade, believing in one all-powerful god above all the others. So when the Emperor arrived, with his overwhelming aura and enormous psychic powers, Lorgar thought "I found him. By beliefs are all justified I found the one true god!"
I feel that the reason why the Khan disappeared was because he went to warp to travel back through timr to ancient Terra to find a man who has harnessed a power known as the Speed Force.
The "you do strange things to your men" comment to Fulgrim wasn't calling him gay. The Khan was mocking the experiments Fulgrim was having done to his sons to combat the blight that nearly wiped out his Legion. The Khan was basically laughing at Fulgrim's kids struggling with cancer.
It works on both levels, in-universe and out. I lean towards the latter personally because the "You do strange things with your ship" line heavily mirrors an eternal old insult hurled at basically any horse centric culture which is, of course, that they fuck their horses. Meanwhile the in-universe explanation was no doubt the accusation of something heretical I'm sure.

You know, ironically, the Tau are a more historically accurate sci Fi depiction of the Samurai, cause while pop culture knows the Samurai for their swords, in reality, Samurai adopted the use of firearms and gun powder pretty early, and were known to use them well. Hell the samurai in the Last Samurai, the real life Samurai they were based off of had a school renowned for their artillery.
Learning about the war between the Japanese samurai and the Korean military it was interesting to see how the samurai had way better arquebus technology, and the Koreans relied on the bow and arrow, but the Koreans had better naval cannons due to the fact that the warring states period was almost exclusively a land war. The koreans won that war due to Admiral Yi continuously kiting the Japanese navy and avoiding direct boarding at all costs, because the samurai were extremely dengerous in direct combat. So that war had both the Samurai being masters of range and masters of melee on different fronts

Just like how Bricky after he dug through Konrad and the Night lords stuff, I myself, after hearing and also looking up more on the white scars after this episode, maay have gone down the same path as Bricky. Cause I can now proudly say that I am now a White Scars fan due to Adeptus Ridiculos. Neat.
Bit odd you guys omitted a few things: - Kor'Sarro Anyways: Kor'Sarro is the current Master of the Hunt and Captain of the 3rd company. The Master of the Hunt, once every 25 years takes a look at the list of adversaries that they battled, but haven't exactly killed yet (Shadowsun for instance). During that time (the Rite of Howling), Kor'Sarro is free to enlist any company of White Scars in his service and go on a "Great Hunt" to kill the target on the list. He also sorta, kinda acts as Chapter Master now as Jubal is unfortunately crippled and permanently in a hospital bed after an invasion by the Red Corsairs onto Chogoris. - Rivalries: The White Scars and Raven Guard don't get along because of their opposite approaches to warfare. Tho since the Damocles campaign vs the T'au, Shrike and Kor'Sarro became friends and have been trying to get the 2 chapters closer together over time.
I could honestly see how their two doctrines of warfare could be combined to devastating effect, like First the Raven Guard singles out the key important figures to sow confusion and Dissaray in the ranks of the enemy, then while the enemy is scrambling to regroup, The Whitescars come in and smash through the enemy like a sledgehammer.
That rivalry thing always seemed odd. They really don't have opposite approaches *at all*. Both chapters focus on carefully observing their enemy, then making a calculated ambush/charge, and retreating if the fight isn't going their way. If anything, they should bond over the latter part, since most of the other chapters seem to despise that idea (specifically calling out the Scars for it). They have slightly differing approaches, with Scars emphasizing stealth and RG emphasizing stealth but.. They're probably the closer to each other than to *any other loyalist chapter*. I can see a friendly rivalry there, or maybe some mutual friction due to how the boisterous nature of the Scars might conflict with the quiet humble brooding of the Raven Guard but.. Let's be real, the RG have friction with EVERYONE in that respect, Corax is even called out for it in 'Raptor'.
I do think for some of the Astartes and Primarchs, you're just not gonna have a lot to say about the chapter. So like, having the primarch ep be "here's their origin story, horus heresy and then aftermath, here's their whole deal" and the follow up being "here's the chapter and some cool stories and moments for the primarch " is a good format
I think it was more that the Khan had pretty much conquered his home planet, and could have easily lived in luxury in the walled cities with it's palaces and farms, but instead decided to stick around with his troops living with huts and horses. To say the least, this made Dorn and Guilliman butthurt.
@@chugiakjrtheplaywwright6461 They werent but hurt about him not Living in luxury. Due to the fact that the khan did live in luxury in relation to how chogoris was developed. I'm guessing White Scars like to fight Orks for one of two reasons: 1: The Orks also enjoy going as fast as they can while sometimes dressing like historical Mongolians, so they have opportunities to compete with a force that encourages them to do stunts while they fight. 2: It's readily apparent that the Orks also enjoy the fighting and the personal danger that comes with it, so there's no reason to feel guilty about killing them.
It was uncommon to see a samurai choose it as a main battlefield weapon without atleast a bow or lance but a pistol and rifle comparison is too much of a difference, a bow even the yumi is only gonna bruise you in armour at best and so a sword is the best option, spears are great too but they can be deflected by a samurai unless they are on horseback since the area of damage/stabby stab is drastically different and it's common for people to try and just move the spear away The best analogy would be bringing a dagger to a sword fight
I feel a good analogy would be “Bringing a 5.56 rifle to falucia when you could of come in with a cqb fal.” Is the difference noticeable eh are you at a dis advantage maybe?

Generally speaking, the education and art things are also huge influences from the Mongol empire. Genghis Khan himself, interestingly enough, wasn't 100% all about atrocities like a lot of legend makes him out to be, but instead WAYYY more about establishing bureaucracy, organization, and stability. His bad rep is a mixture of historical fact, actions of affiliated generals and tag-along raiding armies, and the fact he mostly pissed off China who has enough cultural clout to rewrite the majority of Asian history. But more than conquest it was the unification of cultures all over Asia, and especially the appointment of fitting leadership such as local governors and ensuring regions were rebuilt to last. For comparison, other "great conquerors" of history like Hammurabi or Matthias Corvinus would die and immediately see their work undone by the failures of descendants and uprisings within a few decades. Genghis established an empire that lasted for over 90 years, and only divided into four parts after the death of his great-grandson. To say that the White Scars are a "less savage" Mongol deal is a bit misleading, since I'd say their speed demon bike warfare, crusades and campaigns against xenos, but understanding of the importance of not just tactical thinking but also long-term thinking for the sake of civilian life and strengthening themselves, just like the Mongolian Empire itself.

I never had a favourite Primarch, maybe Vulkan prior to diving into 40k lore. However the Passage of Khan talking to Dorn and Sanguineous about the outcome of his inaction and what will happen if he acts. Without hesitation chooses his fate and decides to ride into his uncertain doom if it saves lives and helps his brothers. Essentially a man who was shunned by those he served and protected, untold battles and horrors faced in the deep reaches of the universe, always out of resupply and reinforcement range... yet always loyal even to an unthankful Imperium and when his closest friend and brother, one of the only Primarchs to truly see his value turned traitor.. he remained loyal. Khan is the best boy imo.

So Fulgrim also had his sword of warp spaghetti when he fought Ferrus so I think there is room to argue at least he would have lost without it. But also I feel Sanguinis would be considered the other of the top three duelist over Kurze for the same reason. Hawk boy could also see the future.
Technically it wasn't Fulgrim that fought Ferrus. The demon had already taken over the body and locked sad boy in the painting. Even Horus called him out on it. Ferrus was fighting a a partially ascended demon primarch.
Yeah I don't know what Bricky was chatting when he said Curze there, he's not even a swordsman. Very dangerous primarch sure, probably even top 3 in all round fighting skill, but for straight sword dueling it's definitely between the Lion, Sanguinius and Khan. As the Khan says himself, Fulgrim is too flashy for his own good, and yeah, did have a deamon blade when he killed Ferrus, but I'm not sure how much that helped really. I honestly don't think Ferrus was that great of a fighter compared to some others. We need some kind of tier list for primarchs, probably for multiple separate categories, as many of them are too different to be compared easily. Like, Leman Russ killed Magnus (well, mostly), but then Angron also beat the absolute fuck out of Russ, but simultaneously got surrounded and would have gotten dogpiled with overwhelming firepower had he landed a fatal blow, so it's kind of a win but also not? But then are we to assume that if Russ beats Magnus and Angron beats(?) Russ then does Angron beat Magnus, or do they have more of a rock/paper/scissors type effect?
Yeah, the Lion, Sanguinius, and probably Fulgrim were the best swordsmen and duelists, no question. But even in the face of that skill, Ferrus was unstoppable, save for the melee equivalent of aimbot that was the Laer Blade
The entire lore of Primarchs in 30k to 40k is just perpetual Shounen series being milked by GW for decades without any final conclusion, much like some of the OG "Big Three" franchises in Japanese Manga Industry up to worldwide (even though there has been new and fresh contestant in Shounen genre and it's subgenres compared to GW's lack of notable competitions),
Honestly, this video has pushed me to start a White Scars successor chapter. I always wanted to do a more melee oriented chapter. Plus I'm a masochist and I want to hurt myself by painting white armor.
I love the white scars. I just wish they mentioned that time a tomb world attacked chogoris shot an empty field for an hour and dipped cause fortress monasteries come with orbital mac cannons
I was surprised that they didn’t mention one of the core mindsets of the White Scars: laughing in the face of death. Or real origin of the name White Scars, which Jaghatai said “[people] misheard the first, and observed the second”.
I honestly think Bricky overstated how savage the Mongolians were. By the time you get to Kublai Khan, they were fairly well educated, good at administration, and had a bureaucracy that worked off of meritocracy. They still butchered people, but you take the good with the bad.
Also the tales of butchery is something we get from recollections of their foes and is a reputation they liked to spread so they wouldn't need to do sieges.
Also if memory serves right, Genghis Khan was very open to integrating civilians into Mongolian society and the benefits of their societies into his. It's how Mongolia crested an effective mailing system.
@@Blazo_Djurovic ^This. Our cultural perception of the Mongols is tinted by the ones who wrote about them. Which is to say, Medieval Europeans who were scared to death of these foreigners who were effective enough to challenge them, and probably would have conquered more of the continent if a succession crisis hadn't drawn their forces back east. The Mongols were probably scarcely more brutal than, say, the Romans. It's just that the Romans wrote their own history books, and so could paint their conquests in the most sympathetic light.

I mean they were all pretty good, konrad could see the future but lion el clapped him. Ferrus was apparent not great, he often lost his head and that was his greatest weakness.
I believe that Sanguinius was considered to be the best fighter overall but some of the other Primarchs could give him a challenge in certain areas. Like in terms of swordsmanship the Lion and the Khan could give him a good run for his money, Horus was basically as much of an all rounder, etc.
@@ShadowGhost0117 actually Sanguinius was seen as the best swordsman at least according to leman. Russ himself even said he couldn't beat Sanguinius in a fight, which is a *massive* compliment. I think two great quotes said by Jaghatai Khan, I believe both were from the books Scars but I can heavily be mistaken, one when he sees Leman Russ in space warfare against Alpha Legion, "until next Winter," then leaves and then followed by Russ talking to his ships captain remarking, "did my brother just say he'll see me in hell." My second favorite quote has to be, "There is only one unforgiveable lie. That is the lie that says, this is the end, you are the conqueror, you have achieved it and now all that remains is to build walls higher and shelter behind them. Now, the lie says, the world is safe." Though the best thing White Scars have done is saving a Thousand son legionnaire after the fall of prospero and offering him a spot in their legion, with his symbol being the symbol of the thousand sons encircling the lightning bolt of the white scars.
In my opinion the top 3 swordsmen and duelists of the Primarchs are between Fulgrim, Jaghatai Khan, and the Lion. Jaghatai is an accomplished swordsman with a fuck-ton of experience. He's a great strategist, tactician, and leader who absolutely deserves respect. Fulgrim is up there because he and his entire legion are built around the premise of perfection in all things. One of their most practiced disciplines is that of the sword. Hell, Fulgrim was a master of as many melee and ranged weapons as there are stars in the sky. He was also a very skilled strategist, tactician, and leader as well. Similarly to Jaghatai he encouraged study of the arts and practically mandated education so he and his legion are highly intelligent. He's kind of a Count Dooku scenario where he is "a fencer through and through" and combat is as natural as breathing, and he practically dances around his opponents. He may be a pretty boy and a bit of a fop, but he earned his boasts. The Lion is the Lion. Konrad Kurze could also likely go up there (considering he baited the Lion and Roboute while fighting them TPM Darth Maul style).
@@danjudex2475 I'm just saying that because Kurze managed to outwit and nearly defeat the Lion and Roboute. Which speaks well for his skill and mental acumen. Despite (or maybe because of) his insanity.

Apparently they also like fighting the Saim-Hann wild riders, since they're also always on bikes.
Source for 2?
If I remember correctly, while White Scars may shudder at the thought of being interred in a dreadnought, they don’t dislike those interred in them by default. From what I know, White Scar dreadnoughts are used almost entirely in the role of guarding fortress monasteries, especially the gene seed repositories. This role, as you can probably guess, doesn’t require speed, which makes it terribly boring for the average White Scar and perfect for a willing dreadnought.
The other white scars: OH BRAH, WE WERE RIDING THE WAVES OF XENO, IT WAS FUCKING RAD!
Drednaught: **Crying**
White scars enjoy the sensations of life. Bring a dreadnought is numbing and this not a desired outcome. Still having an ancient warrior teaching lessons is valuable for maintaining tradition, lore, and knowledge.
I always think that the White Scar Dreadnaughts are like the retirement plan when a white scar just got enough of too much speed and they just want to stay and sleep
@@deadeye9439 When the fast IS too furious, if you will
What really gets me wasn't the fact that Khan solo'd an entire ork army, impressive for sure... but that he routed them.
@@BrotherVoidBomber that the only other thing to do this to orks was dark age of tech humanity.
And he was right
@Naveen KV no.
And big E is just laughing now. Thanks.

Samurai also considered it imperative to become masters of the bow and spear. The sword was actually never the go to first choice weapon for them.

Anyways:
Kor'Sarro is the current Master of the Hunt and Captain of the 3rd company.
- Rivalries:
The White Scars and Raven Guard don't get along because of their opposite approaches to warfare. Tho since the Damocles campaign vs the T'au, Shrike and Kor'Sarro became friends and have been trying to get the 2 chapters closer together over time.
Sneaky boys who focus on stealth and slow special secret squirrel stuff vs the loud flashy speedy boys.

1: The Orks also enjoy going as fast as they can while sometimes dressing like historical Mongolians, so they have opportunities to compete with a force that encourages them to do stunts while they fight.

The katana was a sidearm and should not be compared to a main battlefield weapon. It’d be like comparing a pistol to a rifle.
It was uncommon to see a samurai choose it as a main battlefield weapon without atleast a bow or lance but a pistol and rifle comparison is too much of a difference, a bow even the yumi is only gonna bruise you in armour at best and so a sword is the best option, spears are great too but they can be deflected by a samurai unless they are on horseback since the area of damage/stabby stab is drastically different and it's common for people to try and just move the spear away

@@Hawk_of_Battle well bookworm magnus is paper, clawy wolf dude russ is scissors so angron needs to be rock.

You said the quote Bricky, you are forgiven.
On the topic of forgettable legions, Iron Hands: got their character aborted
Ya
@@ironcaptainurrienpelles6964 I’m as sad as you are sir
I'm sad that nobody talks about the iron hand
@@coldfrost5 I’m sad that they had to be the legion who didn’t get enough lore for people to care besides the die hard fans
Honestly, this video has pushed me to start a White Scars successor chapter. I always wanted to do a more melee oriented chapter.
Plus I'm a masochist and I want to hurt myself by painting white armor.
My white scars successors are grey. Much easier to paint
As a dude with a white Scars army I feel that pain. I thin down the white contrast down now to do the shading and by the throne it is waaaaay easier
I love the white scars. I just wish they mentioned that time a tomb world attacked chogoris shot an empty field for an hour and dipped cause fortress monasteries come with orbital mac cannons
Mortarian VS Khan feels like that "I only have to hit you once, Dex-nerd" meme
Well, I was really salty about the Khan episode but damn Bricky you stole my heart
Are we boycotting Warhammer+ and avoiding buying more minis?
yes
I am
Yes.
Yes
Yup
@@Bluecho4 As one NON Roman source said on how Romans operated.
"..turned a land to wasteland and called it PEACE". :D
@@MidwayWuzzupman he brought the idea of universalism that was inherited by the empires that were built from his civilisation.
I known no one will see this, but there is a section in this episode where Bricky and DK told about the degradation of the Big E’s morals. I would love to listen about that, because I know that the Emperor actually fragmented and created the star child. Hell an episode about the Emperor’s fragment would be really cool
Those Dreadnoughts look like they're piloted by Dr. Robotnik and I love it

The KHAN-cept, good one Bricky
*BAD DAM TISHHHHH*
I’m surprised Bricky didn’t mention the “Head Chaplain” or the current Chapter Master(Master of the Hunt I think it’s called)
master of the hunt is the captain of the third company. the chapter master is called the 'Great Khan' and is currently held by Jubal Khan. sorry, I don't mean to "actually" you, I just made the same error when I was first getting into white scars.
I want to see them do an Imperial Fists episode and see them both have a slight change in their opinion about Rogal Dorn. Especially after the Emperor was struck down and The Darkness overtook him for a moment. Also the sheer balls on Dorn to have the Last Wall Protocol despite Guilliman enacting the Codex Astartes rules on Chapter Size. Some big strategic planning for the return of all the Sons of Dorn for when an inevitable showdown on Terra happens again.
The Darkness?
@@JV-iv9ml There's a gene quirk in Dorn's boys that pop up. When extreme loss occurs in the ranks of some chapters, surviving Battle Brothers will fall into The Darkness. Essentially a psychic mirror of how Dorn felt walking into the Vengeful Spirit's Control Throneroom and seeing Sanguinius dead and the Emperor dying.
The White Scars do have dreadnoughts, but they're mostly used as relic guardians, they sometimes do get deployed though
20:30 Magnus screaming in the distance "I punched out one of his hearts, why does nobody remember that?!"
The White Scars love for art, comes from Gengis raiding whole cities and letting live technicians and artists. So if the Mongols come, remember to start painting.
What i understand of the white scars killing xenos is because they love to fight:
-ork speed freaks, i think they did on Armageddon and came out untouched
-eldar windriders, because fast bikes
So I’m not arguing for this but more can’t actually remember, wasn’t Sangunius or something regarded as the best Duelist among the primarcha? It was either him or Fulgrim I think
I mean they were all pretty good, konrad could see the future but lion el clapped him. Ferrus was apparent not great, he often lost his head and that was his greatest weakness.
But that's the thing, they were the "best regarded" as in, they were known for it, but the problem comparing them to the Khan, Khan was unknown.
He was also just the best all around single combatant. He defeated a greater daemon of khorne, held off a enchanced Horus and fought a titan legion during the Siege of Terra. He did all of this himself mind you.
@@r.cdahuman7682 I know. I should have clarified that I did know he was the best.
I also love how one of the greatest Space Marines in the lore is a Blood Angel (Dante)
If you hear throat singing over the horizon, it’s too late. You ain’t getting out of there in time.
I wasn't going to immediately buy the Mechanicus *inspired* shirt yet. Then I translated the binary. I bought that shit immediately. Top kek, lads. 10/10
a battle between orks and white scars is basically watching a ork get decapitated at mac 10 speeds and everyone giggling. what ork wouldn't love to fight Jaghatai khan and his Hype marines

Hey man. You better pay Gengis some respect he might be the grandfather of all of us.
18:52 Except for all the heads of rival tribe leaders he stuck to his tent when conquering his home world.
Yeah but the Lion beat the Night haunter... twice.
@@danjudex2475 Fair point.
@@danjudex2475 I'm just saying that because Kurze managed to outwit and nearly defeat the Lion and Roboute. Which speaks well for his skill and mental acumen. Despite (or maybe because of) his insanity.
@@danjudex2475 wasn't Kurze stabbed in the back before making the killing blow on the lion. I call it a draw between the two
Can’t wait for them to get to the space wolves and realize just how wrong bricky was detailing them, In Wolfsbane leman realized the error of his ways at the council of nikea and was talking with dorn and the khan about it one of them asked do you regret what you did? To which leman said back “yes.”
Also the explanation of why the space wolves see psykers differently is where fenris is and that it’s some sort of limbo between the warp where spiritual beings “like ghosts” can exist this was represented on the tabletop until 9th edition allowing you to summon the souls of freki and greki the thunder wolves that leman grew up with, and another interesting point is that the emperor himself cannot deny the funny stuff that happens of fenris and it even has him confused
Also going back to the the discussion with the khan leman and dorn both leman and the khan said there librarians draw upon a raw and less powerful version of the warp whereas Magnus was studying the most extreme cases.
Yah he's very biased against the space wolves but he seems to not know much about them other then the book a thousand sons
