Alpharius Omegon, also known as the "Aleph Null," "The Hydra," the "Threefold Serpent," "The Final Configuration" and the "Last Primarch," was one of the twenty primarchs created by the Emperor of Mankind in the earliest days of the Imperium of Man, just after the end of the Age of Strife in the 30th Millennium. In truth, Alpharius Omegon was actually a pair of identical twin brothers, one named Alpharius and the other Omegon.
Of all the primarchs of the Legiones Astartes, Alpharius was without a doubt the most steeped in mystery, legend, contradiction and deliberate falsification. The primarch of the Alpha Legion shrouded himself in mystery, often moving unseen even amongst the ranks of his own Legion.
However, when the time came to cast off the cloak of misdirection, Alpharius was as awe-inspiring a being as any of his brother primarchs. Clad in armour forged in the manner of some terrifying beast of ancient Terran myth and armed with a fearsome panoply of weapons of unknown provenance, Alpharius bestrode the battlefield like a figure from legend. - Розваги

I believe Alpharius is Loyalist, for me that makes the most sense. I believe he was raised by Malcador, that he was actually okay towards humans. I believe Omegon might be a Traitor, the one who met Horus, gained great reactions from Horus. I believe that most of the Alpha Legion do not know the sole purpose of Omegon and Alpharius, and that they secretly work towards both prophecies at the same time. I believe that Dorn killed Omegon, because Omegon was never as trained as Alpharius, never as Stealthy, Alpharius would not have fought Dorn. I believe that some of this, is a lie.
that is how I think about Alpharius and Omegon, in the short story The board is set. Only Alpharius & Omegon's Loyalty is uncertain.

I suspect this was a choice they both agreed on. The prophecies for them never said what would happen if only one become a traitor. I don't think they were lying when they decided to kill Chaos. I suspect O had more interaction with the Alpha Legion, and most of the legion followed him into Chaos.

Everyone in the Deathwatch is an Alpha Legionnaire and they each think the rest of regular Deathwatch and thus it is all going to plan cuz the cover remains intact.

This is why I love Alpha Legion; the entire galaxy is tearing itself apart, and the XXth is out there playing 5D chess to keep themselves busy.
I'm not convinced that the Alpha Legion hasn't lost track of things by this point, so that in 40k not even the Alpha Legion knows if they are traitors or loyalists.

They don't get told "Go pretend to be chaos, and then in 100 years you activate and we turn on them." They just get told "You're chaos now." and they go and join chaos. However, because they're 110% duplicitous, they have no loyalty to any creed or faction, so if you then come back to those guys 1000 years later and say "Good job, now you're loyalist again." they'll switch sides without questioning. The demonic mutations might make blending in harder, but what's life without a little challenge.

I love the whole idea with playing the alpha legion and telling your opponent "One of these models is Alpharius", but that's actually a lie and it turns out their warlord was alpharius all along, and you pull out the exact same mini of their warlord like "yeah, we kidnapped him and hid him here in the rubble", but then when your opponent opens fire on alpharius he dies suspiciously quickly because that was a lie and your mini was the real alpharius, but then your opponent uses a special strategem noone knew existed and reverts time to kill your fake warlord min who isnt actually alpharius because your opponent was playing alpha legion the whole game, tricking you into thinking you are alpharius in the process.
My headcannon is that whenever dorn killed Alpharius, or Omegon, the soul left that body and returned to its other half, so Alpharius-Omegon is now whole again. So neither Alpharius or Omegon are dead, instead have become a single primarch together. Would really play into the whole "We are One" thing.
I like this. A variation off this. If the Demi-primarchs can become a full Primarch by injecting at least one half of their Primarch’s soul.
Alternatively, the soul went into a random Alpha Legion marine, which then boosted that marine's physical attributes, and also gets the memories.
If that worked.. why didn't one of them commit suicide much earlier?
Or they possessed one of the non-alpharius alpharius marines, because why not!
In my head canon, alpharius and omegon bridge the gap between main canon and "The Roubutian Heresy".

Okay, headcanon: The Alpha Legion sounds French. Like, offensively French.
My favorite Alpha Legion bit is in their section of the CSM codex.
A Chaos Lord claiming to be Alpharius was raiding some star system, so the High Lords dispatched a bunch of Vindicare Assassins to deal with them. They assassinated a bunch of Lords all claiming to be Alpharius, but the raids didn't even miss a beat. A few months later, the severed heads of all the Assassins were found in the High Lords' food pantry.
I'm over a year late but which edition was this entry in?
I've always held that the twins were told of two possible futures, but neither one was an acceptable victory condition. The Alpha Legion's insane fuckery is their decision - choose neither path and hopefully force a third option. By playing against everyone they just might break the prophecy altogether.

If I remember correctly, during the "Faith and Fury" Supplement Book, the Alpha Legion turned an entire imperial planet into psychers, but instead of becoming demon infested, the world manifested storms of golden fire, armys of golden warriors, swarms of doves and stuff like that AGAINST the traitor astartes. So in a way, they helped the loyalists.

I love the implication that Alpharius/Omegon snuck into the imperial records in order to leave fanfiction about himself. It adds an extra subtext to the fact he spends so much time going on about how cool and special he is and makes a point to make sure the reader knows what a nice guy he is.
I like the implication of this implication that he's inside Imperial Palace, and _never_ left. He's just been masterminding everything from the comfort of his hidden secret room just below the Golden Throne.
After the Horus Heresy, he snuck into the Palace, and just stayed there. Especially since he can make himself imperceivable, he could just walk anywhere without anyone the wiser.

So... I spent the last hour learning about the Alpha Legion and their primarch/s. And now I have a crackhead theory.
So, the Canon is that Dorn (who was actually Dorn) killed Alpharius (who was actually Omegon), inspiring Omegon (who was actually Alpharius) to change his name to Alpharius.
I propose that this is a lie.
In actual fact, Alpharius and Omegon managed to turn Dorn Traitor by convincing him that he was Omegon (who was actually Alpharius) through a complicated series of deceptions. The three together then convinced Alpharius (who was actually Omegon) that he was Rogal Dorn. Finally, Omegon (who was actually Alpharius) pretended to be Alpharius (who was actually Omegon) and allowed Dorn (who was actually Alpharius (who was actually Omegon)) to kill him, inspiring Omegon (who was actually Alpharius (who was actually Dorn)) to change his name to Alpharius.
I have no basis for this theory, other than the fact that it seems like the kind of thing Alpharius/Omegon would do because they could.

They even technically count as Legionnaires.
It does sound very silly yes. Although apparently it helps that the Alpha legion uses power armor that can shift its coloring in a way that effectively makes it adaptive camouflage. Why don't ALL the space marines use this adaptive cammo feature? I dunno.

You know, it makes sense that Dorn was able to "spot" Alpharius (Omegon) easily, since that was Omegon, not THAT experienced with his gift unlike his twin brother. And The Lion was unable to notice he was talking to a primach because, by that point, he was well trained in it

The whole Cabal deal reminds me of Kain‘s speech in Soul Reaver 2. Alpharius & Omegon are faced with two bad sides of a coin, destroy Chaos and humanity or let Chaos be victorious. So the twin Primarchs chose bith and neither, locking the Imperium in decay, preventing Chaos from completely winning and preserving humanity, even if the circumstances are horrible. At some point a third option will be possible to free the galaxy of the tyranny of the Gods. Throw a coin often enough and at some point it will land on its edge.

I can understand Alpharius having a massive ego, like all his brothers, since the biggest ego is born of true skill and arrogance grows from actual confidence. And really, who's more competent than primarchs? Very VERY few, that's who. I also kind of get him having an ego after pulling the wool over his brothers' eyes, and even getting into a position where he had a very real chance of taking out big E. Add on all that training by uncle Malcador, and I get him having a swelled ego, but as most of them have shown, an excessive ego can be deadly. A few good sparring matches with Leman would be a compelling reminder that he is not untouchable. Also a psycher demo by Magnus.
I mentioned this in another comment but... it may have actually worked. In the prophecy where Horus lost all of the loyalist primarchs were supposed to die or vanish eventually and never return... but Giliman's resurrection happened which was not part of that prophecy, which has caused the Imperium to actually start to rebound.

In my head canon Alpharius( actually Omegon) was actually a traitor and believed that it was the only way to kill Chaos, while Omegon( actually Alpharius) believed that both options were stupid and is playing both sides so that humanity won't get eradicated, the true will of the Emperor!
I'm thinking that there was a civil war inside the Alpha Legion, and the two primarchs split up because they were too evenly matched. Omegon approached Horus and offered his half of the Legion, but did so under the guise of Alpharius.
Alpharius, realizing that there would be no chance to fight his twin and the strength of the full traitor legions, became Omegon and started working in the shadows to disrupt their efforts.
How I see it is that Omegon was a traitor but Alpharuis was still loyal and still alive after switching places. But he is still working against the Imperium because he is only loyal to Big E and how the Imperium is right now isn't Big E dream. As in his book he is always only loyal to Big E dream
I love that anything tabletop related with alpha legion is canon because it can just be considered deceit.

I really like that it’s a dark Angel he was disguised as. I run my own custom chapter the Alpha Angels which are partially for the fun of maximizing the meme of who are they fighting for. Basically a dark Angel successor that has been infiltrated by the Alpha legion, “who’s who, who’s loyal and who are they loyal to?” type deal.

The mystery makes the Alpha Legion, and that mystery also provides so much opportunity to fans and writers to do so much, but at the same time answering the mystery removes the mystery, so it's also such a limitation. It makes it really fascinating to consider what CAN be done, only to realize why it CAN'T be done.

I mean if you like Alpha Legion but don't like Chaos then you could just get loyalist space marines and paint them as Alpha Legion.
The best part about playing Alpha Legion is that you can just mash together other marines and say they're all Alpha Legionaires in disguise.
The lore about the alpha legion primarchs... Is like GW playing that game of "can you find/track this ball I hide in one of these three cups?" to the reader...
But here's the thing.... there was never a ball to begin with.

Does this mean that Alpharius-Omegon has the same or similar powers to Corvus Corax? They both have the ability to alter other peoples' perception of them; Corax just uses it to make himself invisible, and Alpharius-Omegon uses it to conceal his true nature from others.
I find the easiest way to think of the three stealthiest Primarchs is like this.
Corvus Corax: Can literally turn invisible and walk in plain view and go unnoticed most of the time (machines can still spot him).
Konrad Curze: Is more akin to Batman where he is simply extremely good at hiding in the shadows and being slippery with his movements.
Alpharius/Omegon: Is able to hide by making themselves look unremarkable to others, using effective disguises, and any helpful tools to blend into their surroundings.
They also have the power to block their mind from outside intrusion

When I read Head of the Hydra, it didn’t seem to me that Alpharius had an ego, or at least he didn’t have an ego that was greater than the norm for Primarchs. Whenever he talked about how he could have done something but didn’t, it seemed more like he was saying that he didn’t because of his role to stay hidden. It’s like he’s trying to stress how much he puts his duty before anything else, or at least that’s how I read it.
As for when he says that he does stuff better then his brothers, every primarch says that. It’s rare for one of the Primarchs to think that their siblings had a better approach to warfare.

@@fernandotrevinocastro1018 Even Vulkan had his biases. I know for a fact that he didn't like how the Death Guard conducted their crusades. Biggest difference between Vulkan and other Primarchs was that he didn't say anything about it.
Magnus bragged that the 1k sons could build better fortresses than the iron warriors (who's primarch he is friends with) and imperial fists, mostly just to make his sons feel better about being shit att it.

One of my favorite things may or may not have been a canon story, but it's a bunch of like militia men standing up against either tyranids, or some other Xenos and they get rescued by space marines... and the story just slowly describes the guy looking at the pristine turquois armor, the incredibly sculped scales, the.. multi headed serpent? Ah, must be some kind of smaller chapter of like the ultra marines here to rescue us! Duh!
