They did the Gi area so well. Very old school Diablo like. Loved this area and the expanded story around them.
That is something that Rebirth is doing so well with the different types of people we run into. No one is just black and white. Not even the Cetra are pure good!
The male voice singing, reminds me of the Yu Yevon song.
Absolutely amazing. One of the best tracks in any Final Fantasy game.

My headvcanon is that the Gi did use the black materia to call down a meteor, and that meteor was the one Jenova arrived on. The Cetra moved to take the black materia after realizing the cause for the meteor

I was more thinking that Jenova and the Gi arrived with the same Meteor and that Jenova is a Gi
I don't think there is a connection betweet the meteor and Jenova, given that the impact didn't destroy the world, plus why would the Gi need a parasite for, it doesn't want to destroy the world but infest it?
Yeah the similarities between the Gi and Jenova are pretty heavy. Blue skin, pink eyes, aliens who arrived on the planet centuries ago. Adversarial to the planet, lifestream, and the Cetra. The connection to the black materia. Gi Nattak sounding very similar to “Je Nova” (perhaps a mistranslation by Shinra?)
Jenova is 100% a Gi.
Since Meteor completely and utterly wrecks the entire planet, that is extremely unlikely.
This song really stood out to me from the soundtrack.

Kind of sounds like a dirge of sorts.

This music is very similar to god of war’s Greek era.
Im loving this whole new lore but it also opens up a whole other can of questions like did the Gi ever meet Jenova ? I don’t believe the Gi are the same as Jenova as Jenova has always seemed more nonsentient , and just instinctually driven , like a virus. The Gi, as crazy as their logic for release is, seem to actually have a level of consciousness and be driven by despair for never being welcomed in life or death.

The theme is good but the background vocals where they’re talking about materia is kinda trash. Very reminiscent of SpongeBob when Robot Mr.Crabs was saying “ravioli ravioli give me the formuoli”
“give meee the materia, theeee materia isss mineeee, weeee alll want the materiaaaaa”. So corny, they could’ve done better in that part of vocals area having them say something a little less campy.
99% of the music in this game is straight fire though.
