- this is not jenova emergents soundtrack for when you fight it so dont get it confused. this is not a gamerip so i do not have to apologize for the weird cutting in and out and i did not obviously try to make it line up at all because it isnt the emergents battle theme.
Sigma Sephiroth:
Shows up unexpectedly on your cruise ship
Says some ominous and cryptic stuff
Drops an ancient eldritch horror on you ship
Refuses to elaborate

And what a sick intro to the fight it was, Tyler is doing a great job voicing sephiroth imho

I think's Genova showing up disguised as Sephiroth throughout the game, even when "Sephiroth" stabs Aerith it's Jenova
Jenova is subservient to Sephiroth but it is autonomous

Turning the iconic J-E-N-O-V-A intro into a heartbeat at 0:22 that just keeps going faster and faster until the song explodes is some inspired shit. Reminds me of the Giratina flatline.
I love that all the different Genova forms have unique takes on the theme.
This one (after hearing Dream weavers in Remake which was more traditional) was exciting and really grasped the horror vibe Emergent has.

I believe that at some point in the development of REMAKE, Jenova Dreamweaver was originally going to named Jenova Pulse, which referenced prenatal heartbeat, a stage of fetal development.
The heartbeat heard in Emergant’s theme may be a reference to Dreamweaver’s old name.
It's still called Pulse in some European language localisations, and the original Japanese text calls it Jenova Beat - even the music track for it refers to foetal quickening. imo it is 100% intentional that Emergent's music includes an increasing heartbeat.
Whoever decides to put those voices there is a fucking badass in my eyes.

This track is absolute 🔥! They completely topped Jenova Quickening from Remake and I didn't think that was possible.

They knocked so many things out of the park in this game, but I was really impressed how much they amped up the cosmic horror whenever we fought Jenova.

im glad they got the faithful remake of jenova out the way for the first game and now feel confident doing some wacky stuff. What an amazing piece of music
My feelings as well. The first game was a study in teasing and delivering exact emotional payoff. This one usually leads with the nostalgia, and then flips it and builds on it. Especially musically. You hear the evocative theme first (like in Corel) and then the composers kick things up a notch and give you something crazy and new.
A strange one for me was the chocobo race theme over the regular chocobo theme... surprisingly enjoyed it
The fact that Square got the Bulgarian Women's Choir to do Jenova's theme just ramps up how epic this song is.

Combine that w the fact that people are fighting in the top comments about whether the Bulgarian Women's Choir was involved in the production of this song or not, and now you've got another link between this and NieR.
TLDR; You were right, this guy isn't stupid. He was onto something.

Everybody's rightly complimenting the choir, but that metal guitar that kicks in around the same time just pairs perfectly with the orchestration

This was such a good experience. I was excited for this fight but this version of the song made it so much better than I expected.

I keep reading this take, and while it's true, I feel like it goes back further, to Mitsuda's work with xenogears, and to ghost in the shell, which was a contemporary work at the time of the OG.

I didn't think it was possible to make an orchestra djent, but those low strings and percussion in phase 2 pulled it off. What an incredible song.
The female choir is so good it reminds me of some of the songs from the Cyberpunk 2007 expansion Phantom Liberty
The voices in the song sounds similar to the gongaga region music voices. When you learn gongaga used to be home to an ancient settlement it’s not out of place to assume the voices singing there are the ancients voices. Same with jenovas emergent theme it’s like the ancients are singing it… very interesting!:)
This is in a similar vein of my interpretation that One-Winged Angel uses the voices of the life stream/whispers depending on the game, chanting in horror but beautifully all the same
So basically Jenova is a eldritch god from what I gather
Or at least a piece of one.
Of which Hojo and Shinra decided to start infusing the cells into their SOLDIERs.
Now imagine what happens when alllll that Jenova recombines. Add some Lifestream for flavor, aaaand...

This theme is great, but I feel like they messed up the sequence of the individual sections in the battle? It STARTS with the most hype section of the song for when Jenova is just hanging from the ceiling, then when she drops down to the floor it slows down to a more quiet basic orchestral version? It's like starting the Jenova Dreamweaver battle with the phase 3 part then going into the first part lol
