Beach Fishing - Barton on Sea - pulley dropper rig comparison with up and over

  • Looking to repeat my PB small eye ray from the same venue. I take this opportunity to try out the pulley dropper rig that was requested on the channel and compare it to my favourite, the up and over.
I have plenty of bait but find out on the beach that most of it is still frozen. Luckily the sand eel defrost quicker than the rest and on they go.
The pairing of Century Fireblades and Penn 525 mag 3’s work well but I am still experimenting with reel position.
As with all of my videos I am open to positive comments, ideas and views.

Obviously I edit my films and I chop out tons of stuff. Mainly talking to myself or acting like an ass but I don’t hide anything and what you see is who I am. I’ll keep on mixing things up by trying stuff out or it will all get a bit stale. I enjoy trying these things out but if you asked me for my ultimate set up I think I already know.

Hi Mark... When you lower your reel ,you also have to change hands and control the reel with your left hand. Also with the imps , if you push the hook holder through to the opposite side of the link and put your hook in there you`ll find it keeps everything clipped so that you can ground cast .
    Good luck

Most of the tournament anglers use the tapered line both on multipliers and fixed spools.
I would use I on cleaner ground or with a rotten bottom on rough ground.
I use Trabucco 0.50mm for my shock leaders and rig bodies.

It is a joy to use and very slick without the joining knot. The line is coloured at increments so you can see how far you have cast apart from counting turns. I think line discrimination will play a stronger part to maintain it as intended.

The video quality has always been good but I have been working on getting the sound to the same standard. Pleasing to know that it is noticeable and hopefully if adds some quality to the filming.
I have another element in order and hope to preview that soon. 👍🏻

Hi mark found one of your original stickers yesterday I was well chuffed so glad I got 3 it's now on my table for uploading rig and review I'm having trouble with fillet knifes
I know you covered your sharpening kit are you still using the same kit and what is your go too fillet knife as I need to master filleting I've been so lazy and had either my dad he said time to grow up ya 52 😅
or a matey do fillet for a

I love the original sticker but I do prefer the latest version. I have had my filleting knife for years and it all comes down to the blade really. Narrow and flexible that holds a good edge. I have been looking to upgrade mine but can’t find one I prefer. I’ll show it in another video. 🎣👍🏻

Try proper 'reel down' mate. Set the reel about 9-10 ins from the butt cap. Grip the reel with your left hand, upper hand should be about the distance you'd have between your hands in high reel. You'll find you can slow the cast down, spool grip is better, and the rod bends more! Try it. It's not for everyone, but once converted high reel feels a bit cack handed. Keep the vids coming!

They will be ordered in batches from China. The originals and design will have been a different grade/quality and then it gets given to China to make cheaply. Mine is a China version and not perfect.

@@seaangling Somebody in the tackle trade told me a few weeks ago that due to Covid there were thousands of containers awaiting customs clearance at the ports. Lots of stuff has been out of stock and most of the USA tackle stores had empty shelves. I tried to get a Surfblaster a couple of months ago and no stock anywhere - I ended up buying a Mitchell Blue Water RZ9000. Penn & Mitchell are part of the same group anyway - it all comes from China!
