  • In this video I'll compare Adobe Animate, Rough Animator, and Blender. All of these programs are affordable and easy enough to use for the beginning animator. This video will help you decide which app is right for you.
There is a correction in this video. The original upload said that Rough Animator could not import sound. That mistake has been fixed in this video.

Great comparison breakdown, I’ve been thinking of incorporating Blender as also a 2D tool into my own classroom practice.

Thanks! It's a great program, and easy to install in classrooms because its open source! I'd be curious to hear how it goes for your students. What software are you currently using?

@@mr.h well, prior to the pandemic kicking-in, I was using Maya, Sketchbook pro, Photoshop, Illustrator and ArchiCad. During the pandemic, switched to sketchbook pro and Blender, due to students not having sufficient hardware to run Maya; animating in Blender is taking a bit of getting used to...:)

@@mr.h how can I forget Krita, loving this application, another robust application, free and very versatile...

Thanks Alexi! That is a big transition to go through. I also had to teach during the pandemic and found it to be a very difficult job. Hope you are getting some rest this summer!

Always thinking as to how I can make the content, learning and experience more accessible and enjoyable, would love to collaborate, share and brainstorm with you what I’m delivering if that works for you...

You can move drawing in Rough Animator without doing frame by frame. Make a cycle the translate the drawing to the last from of the cycle. For instance to move the drawing from first frame to other side of canvas on the horizontal, select the last frame of the cycle and then move the drawing over to the position you want it to finish.

great video , thanks. I absolutely love using rough animator. I keep trying to use more feature rich programs but always end up coming back to rough animator. Mainly as its just fun to use for me. I just wish the brush tool on ipad was a little bit more professional.

Another disadvantage of Blender's grease pencil is that I found out you need a good graphics card to use it. If you're on a cheap pc or laptop it will crash on you with just light sketching.

For linux users the only options are Blender and Krita. There is also pencil which is very basic. All free.

Hey I was wondering if you could help me out with this. I bought roughanimator recently on pc, and when I try to draw really fast, there is a horrible stabilizer that is just a pain to draw with. Is there any way that you can take away the stabilizer

Rough animator is better than flipaclip
Because flipaclip has watermarks and rough animator dosent have a watermark

To get rid of the flipaclip watermark, you have to pay for it.

Please answer this question...do I need to leanrn adobe animate if I learn Blender...
My aim is to make 2d and 3d cartoon films. Also I want to learn vfx and cgi works

    • @mr.h
      @mr.h  Рік тому +2

Hi there, you can use whatever tool you like to make films. What matters is if the workflow meets your needs as an artist. I would argue that Blender is better than Adobe Animate but some would disagree with me. Its all a matter of personal preference.
