    I was handed an incorrectly sized helmet in Basic Training because it was “all they had”. Let me tell you, whatever the lead times are, it’s worth waiting for the proper size!

    A huge point to be made. When you get an opscore helmet. For the love of god READ THE MANUAL.
    Walsh forgot to mention another very neat feature about the adjustment of the suspension system. The inner band you can adjust to be narrower or rounder to better fit your head shape. Which most definitely makes a huge difference for long term comfort.
    Furthermore, you can also change the ride height of the worm or occ dial on the nape to really lock the helmet down to your head without using the chin strap.
    With the 4D pads and properly adjusted suspension in my opinion this blows the team wendy system out of the water in terms of comfort and functionality.

      I haven't had to yet but i'd probably just pop em out and clean them under the sink with some dish soap and let them air dry. The 4d pads from TNVC say they can go in the washing machine but I'd probably still just hand clean em so they didn't get tore up.

    I’m not MIL/LE, just a dumb nasty…maybe you could help me understand something a little more clearly: did you say “shelf life”?

    • @zacharyfett2491
      @zacharyfett2491 2 роки тому +1

      When you’re an agency buying a bunch of stuff, you have to pay attention to shelf life because it cuts into the “expiration date”. Once protective equipment reaches its expiration date, the agency has to replace it for insurance purposes. This isn’t really an issue for the civilian market. The only time you have to replace protective equipment, is when it’s visibly deteriorating or has been otherwise compromised.

    • @ThinLineDefenseCo
      @ThinLineDefenseCo  2 роки тому +3

      In the MIL/LE world, they hold a 5 year "shelf life" from date of manufacturing for any armor related item. So MIL/LE would have to buy a new helmet every 5 years. Walsh did a video about how your body armor doesn't really expire.

    The team Wendy has a higher ballistic rating. Ops core could only use their own in house rating.

      maybe I'm confused.... they're both NIJ certified

    • @tangodown2721
      @tangodown2721 2 роки тому

      @@ThinLineDefenseCo seems like ops-core is confusing people now. Just checked their spec sheet and they've changed what it used to say. So for years the ops-core spec sheet would only list their in house testing certification "Specification FAST SF
      PS-1228" which is their in house testing that is supposed to hold up to NIJ but isn't third party certified so you can only trust what ops-core says on that. I see they are now listing the NIJ IIIA standard on their spec sheet but they don't clarify if they actually got it certified or just claiming it meets those standards like some body armor manufacturers do as well. Team Wendy actually list the certification for the NIJ standard so you know it was actually third party tested. Ops-core must have very recently changed the spec sheet on the SF because I just had this conversation a few months back and it still only listed their in house standard. I would be super curious to find out if they actually certified now.

    • @tangodown2721
      @tangodown2721 2 роки тому

      at the very bottom the spec sheet it list "REV.20220601" so they just pushed that revision out but I still think it's misleading if they haven't actually certified.

    So, I don’t really use it, but the only helmet I have is an old PASGT that I got off my first ship. (I didn’t steal it. I was told to get rid of everything in the space, and that was in the space) Honestly, a helmet was pretty far down my list of things to get. Then I saw a video of a cop getting hit by a “peaceful protester” with a baseball bat. The only reason he was able to get away was because of his helmet. It’s made me consider at least getting a bump helmet.
