I have 4 wonderful daughters and love to see the good relationship you have w/McKenna. Your professional painting tips, advice and wisdom is priceless.
9:10pm Just wanted to say “Thank you”, I really appreciate how you explain how to use this 440. I just purchased a new one. I’m about to spray my first cabinet job! Paint life is the Good life
theres a guy out there lol ,thanks so much man you are the guy ! When i thought i couldn't learn anymore i discovered your videos, i now have the tool and continue learning to be the absolute best i can be ,as my gaol is to reach the top !😉 thanks again and yes look great !
Hello!!! I am so glad I found your videos! My daughters’ walls are already painted. Do you have any videos or extra tips to how to spray like this but if the walls are painted and I don’t want the spray to get on the walls? Do I just tape it off how you did the floor? Do I need to worry about spray particulars getting onto furniture in the room?
A good first go, McKenna. Well done. Take your time, be nice, and I think the old man will look after you. :-) Ah Chris, the pressure! Teaching your daughter, on camera, in her new home. Good to see that you're both handling it with grace. This would not end well with my dad and my sister! :-P
Rented an airless sprayer from Home Depot and went nuts spraying my new business. Blew through a gallon REAL quick before I realized the machine was cranked up too high. Got the hang of it after watching some of your videos but now I’ve got overspray to fix and fingers from the sprayer in the areas i thought i had under better control. Should I just get after it with a roller or?? Thanks for all the videos. I’d be even more lost without ya.
Thats it man, im getting an airless, i do builtins and crown and coffered ceilings. HVLP just always seem to be a huge hassle, if it was just loading the compressor it would be no problem but its a mess lots of dust. This just looks like a better way to go
Very Informative. Question; are you Still Using Marine RV Anti-Freeze ("The Orange Stuff") In Your 440 Impact ? For Long Term Storage or Short Term Storage ? > Thanks Also For Your Videos, I Have Been in Commercial Painting 19 years and always looking for ways to do it Better .
Can you spray the trim, windows, door jams without getting paint on the walls? I just painted my walls and don’t want to have to repaint them. Also, I would like to go from oak to white trim but don’t want anything to bleed through. What products and steps do you suggest? Thanks!
Your easiest bet is to hand brush the trim. If you want them sprayed, it can be done, but the labor and materials will go up because the painter will not only cover the floor but will also have to cover the wall with paper and tape.
Hey Chris, @ 9:20 you mention waiting until the trim paint dries to see if it needs a second coat, and since you’re doing walls next you don’t need to pull your masking...my question is how are you avoiding bridging on the trim if you’re leaving masking down after trim paint is already dry? I thought you pulled masking while trim is still wet...
I had to fit my baseboard after the walls were painted and the floors were put in - can you still spray them or will the masking not prevent over spray going over finished walls? Or is that a brush only scenario?
He has said he uses RV antifreeze in other videos. The stuff you put in the plumbing system for winterization, not the engine coolant. Nice thing about that antifreeze is it's rated for use in the potable water system of your RV, so it's not as toxic as engine coolant or pump armor.
I really enjoy your instructional videos, but it has been awhile since you've reviewed some of the more DIYer oriented equipment. If Makenna needed to buy her own airless sprayer and knowing that she may not have another project to use it on for a fair bit in the future after she's finished repainting her house, what would you suggest she buy? The Titan 440 is quite an investment for a non-professional.
So I heard you say your rig was an impact airless sprayer. How is that different from my spraytech EP2205 rig? (I know its old but it still does the job!)
Great videos. Question... Am I correct that as you are spraying trim (in this video and others) the overspray onto the wall is not an issue for subsequently coming back to roll? No need to protect it other than by not spraying excessively? Thank you
Hey Chris Love the channel and love your store just picked up some of your tools including your whip for the sprayer looking forward to getting it and trying it out but in the mean time I have a question for you hope you can advise I’ve seen multiple of your videos were you recommend using a 310 tip for doors and trim however just about every type of semi gloss paint that I look at seems to suggest a much larger orifice for semi gloss trim paint. Do you recommend using the 310 regardless or going with the paint manufacturer recommendations for tip size?
Use a tape that isn't super sticky, try to limit tape touching the floor to around the baseboard, then work as quickly as possible. The less the tape is left sticking the less damage.
I have a huge trim install job to do at my house. I know I am going to get a better looking finished product by painting it after it is all installed but the amount of time I am going to spend taping and blocking off is going to be insane. Is it really worth doing it that way or should I just paint all my product first outside and just cut and install then touch up joints after?
Good job Mckenna. I never would have thought of spraying trim before. You used triple the tape quantity for the floor. Did the painter quote you time and materials, or was that included in the bid?
If you're spraying an accent wall, how much of the adjacent wall and ceiling do you need to mask to avoid hitting them with overspray? I.e. how far away from the corners...2-3 feet? More?
Will you be able to see the overspray on the wall after you paint the wall? (And the spot in the center of the wall where you tested the spray). I always see a difference in sheen on the wall where I did the color samples before I painted the wall.
Zander Kent I get that but every time I’ve painted over a test spot I can see it through the finished paint job even after two coats rolled on. It’s the sheen that is affected. Maybe it only happens when the top paint is eggshell.
I think the best times I've had were doing work along side family members. This is beautiful. My dad taught me many skills. He said that when I was a baby they had to put up a six foot fence because I wouldn't keep my diapers on. To be sure I wouldn't be a stripper He was going to teach me trade skills like drywall, tile and painting. I paint til this day.
Hi Chris. I am assuming you are spraying semigloss on your trim. Do you have trouble with the wall paint sticking to the area where the semigloss sprayed the wall?
I'm getting ready to paint the interior of my home and also changing out the base trim. I'm planning on rolling the walls and ceiling but would like to spray the trim. My question is if there is a good sprayer that you guys would recommend for maybe
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, question, ones I spray the trimmers with semigloos paint some of that paint stay in the wall, when is time to paint the wall lest say with flat paint, it is going to be any issue?, because the flat paint is going to be on top of the semigloos, close to the trim. So basically my question is: Can the flat paint be applied on top of the residual semigloos or I need to sand, deglosser or just paint it over?.
Thanks for the sprayer start up instructions Chris. 👍I noticed McKenna changed direction 3 times without releasing the trigger, contrary to your instruction on the wall.
@Zach Wagner ; lol, no it doesn’t, wasn’t trying to judge, just...been there, 😂. I learned the hard way myself, got to be gentle with the fiber board !
Your daughter probably already knows about the dangers of an airless sprayer, but probably wouldn't hurt anything to revisit just how dangerous they can be. Trigger lock?
Hello there, i am also painting subcpntractor here in jakarta indonesia, the machine i used before is crago usa made, i would like to move to australia but i need a sponsor letter to support my visa process, can your company give me a hand so i can move to australia this year 2023, i will have my money to cover the cost for visa, airline ticker, and other cost when active in australia, thanks if your company can help me at this stage
I dont like the way he does trim. Turn that gun upside down, you'll get a better shot at it without all that overspray. Hell you can do it over carpet and not get anything on it
I have 4 wonderful daughters and love to see the good relationship you have w/McKenna. Your professional painting tips, advice and wisdom is priceless.
Thank for your support
My teacher I always watch you videos I have 10 years experience painting exterior and interior but Every day Learn something with you videos
Keep up the good work girl! Your dad makes it look effortless
Great tips for trim. Also, a great way for you to bond with your daughter.
Thank you!
Great video, great dad!! Thanks for posting all your vids and doing the great work you do.

Trying everything new and spraying
Still working on it
My old boss has an older titan 440. I love that little sprayer. One day as my business grows I hope to get one.
I think you nailed it McKenna. Great job. It looks a lovely house too.

hvlp probably less 'dust' than airless. too bad they don't make extensions for your builtin's' hvlp. what does 'coffered' mean?
Super appreciate ALL the tips.... I'm almost ready to pull the trigger and get my first sprayer for the DIYer in me. 😬.... nervous

I don't see any masking on walls to call bridging.

easy to follow Chris, as we'd expect. ;)
Perfect!
Chris, I noticed you used antifreeze in your Titan sprayer. What type of antifreeze did you used as a storage fluid?
He has said he uses RV antifreeze in other videos. The stuff you put in the plumbing system for winterization, not the engine coolant. Nice thing about that antifreeze is it's rated for use in the potable water system of your RV, so it's not as toxic as engine coolant or pump armor.
I use modern antifreeze and it works fine so far.
I learn a lot for The Idaho painters.... Makenna is so pretty ...with all respet
She is simply Beautiful.
Thanks for ALL that you do Sir!
Your welcome! Thanks for watching!
When do you pull the tape and masking? After the trim paint is completely dry?
do you still spray if there's carpet? how do you mask off carpet? if so what product(s) do you use?
I really enjoy your instructional videos, but it has been awhile since you've reviewed some of the more DIYer oriented equipment. Thanks! Good video. Good luck to you! What size nozzle do you as a master recommend?
do you ever run into issues of tape removing finishes from floors or peeling paint from walls and what do you do to avoid?
Use a tape that isn't super sticky, try to limit tape touching the floor to around the baseboard, then work as quickly as possible. The less the tape is left sticking the less damage.

if it's your own house i would do it outside. if a customers' talk 'em into outside as well, but some insist inside
really good videos, and great tips !
Good job Mckenna. I never would have thought of spraying trim before. You used triple the tape quantity for the floor. Did the painter quote you time and materials, or was that included in the bid?
This is so true cheaper to hit it with a brush
Where do you get the hea pressure gauges for the gun? I can’t find these anywhere online.
If you're spraying an accent wall, how much of the adjacent wall and ceiling do you need to mask to avoid hitting them with overspray? I.e. how far away from the corners...2-3 feet? More?
's about right. the more the better. depends how far you're gonna hold the gun away.
Greetings from Poland 😎
I get the feeling she could do this in her sleep by age 12 and was just here to film the video :)
So do you spray trim first then walls and ceilings?
Yes
Will you be able to see the overspray on the wall after you paint the wall? (And the spot in the center of the wall where you tested the spray). I always see a difference in sheen on the wall where I did the color samples before I painted the wall.
They are going to paint the wall so it will get covered up

@@1977jmad my customers like that little extra secret shimmer. It lets them feel unique and special. Their own private sheen blend.
How much masking tape do you go thru in a room like that. About avg.

Hi Chris. I am assuming you are spraying semigloss on your trim. Do you have trouble with the wall paint sticking to the area where the semigloss sprayed the wall?
you scuff sand it . no big deal
Kevin Lee hold a sprayboard above the trim as you go.... saves getting trim paint on the wall
How do I get the paint life shirts would love to have some for me and my guys
Paintlifesupply.com
do you have more information on the tip and sprayer you could share with me?
You should use an air assisted sprayer when doing trim. Give you a much better finish.
Yeah not true....not true at all
Or try one of them there airbrushers with a larger homemade attachment
Why do extensions cause spits???
Does the Simi gloss not show up when u paint.the walls?
Nope
Question. Why do painters wear white paints, coveralls etc?
It's just a union thing
When I spray my caulk looks cracked 🤷🏻♂️ I’ve let it dry and used different brands of caulk but it still has that cracked look to it.
Great video guys! What sheen do you prefer for trim?
proclassic satin. or multisurface acrilic egsshell
I'm getting ready to paint the interior of my home and also changing out the base trim. I'm planning on rolling the walls and ceiling but would like to spray the trim. My question is if there is a good sprayer that you guys would recommend for maybe
Great job!
Thank!🤙
Hey chris , do companies send u stuff randomly to try out ? Can we request products to try ? ( titan , graco , ben moore )
We like testing all products! 🤙

You should do a light quick sand and you're pretty much good to just paint over it
Just paint over it it will be fine in fact it might have a nice little shimmer underneath it no one will know what's up
@ 4:13 you said..."I typically spray my trim around 200 Psi". Did you mean to say 1200 PSI Chris? Great video!!
Franklin H 2000
@@Idahopainter I always thought that you ran your PSI lower for some reason, regarding trim. Thanks for the reply.
@@franklin9613 usually they says 1k-1200 psi for these FFLP tips but thats at the pump. i think 2k at pump= the right psi at the gun

He’s a great guy too
Thanks🤙
why why why, arent you using graco clean shot?
I'm too scared to use a sprayer. Love your videos. Thanks!
what trim paint are you using? also i hate 310 tips they always clog on me. Prob need to thin my paint
Use a finer gun filter, in that RX pro titan use the white gun filter for trim. I usually use a 211 tip for trim.
200 (4:15) or 2000 (4:35) psi.
definitely 2000
Why anti freeze ?
Keep pump from freezing and corroding inside. Your question was used in a video so DM us and we will send you a gift card to our store.
when you want your daught5er to help you with a video but she just wants that free paint job.
😃😃😃 My wife did the same thing like Makenna
You should do purple pls 😁😉❣️
Hello bro ! Whats number tip ?
He says it’s a fine finish 310
What is spit?
Oh, i see you have a video about it. First see that one. Sorry.
Something your mother never did
Aart Vermeire the paint is spitting from the gun I.e. not a continuous flow. Or spit could just be short for stupit ..... Stupit !
Thats what I say too...SAFETY 3RD! Now turn that rig on high and just blow thru that house in 30 min!
Thanks for the sprayer start up instructions Chris. 👍I noticed McKenna changed direction 3 times without releasing the trigger, contrary to your instruction on the wall.

YZMOTO #80 looks like mdf, doesn’t take much
@Zach Wagner ; lol, no it doesn’t, wasn’t trying to judge, just...been there, 😂.
I learned the hard way myself, got to be gentle with the fiber board !
YZMOTO #80 no judgement. Just saying, mdf doesn’t take much as far as sanding. Definitely would of just hand sanded a little, then moved on
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Are you John Cena’s twin brother?
Some people do not like the sprayed look on trim. They claim it looks like plastic.
Facts-Over-Feelings ok sounds great
Didn't realise John Malkovich was a painter
