    Lyrics:
    Kvitravn
    Ut i skuma
    Lokkar til meg
    Kvite ramnen
    Duld og dvelande
    Høyr eg spør!
    Lend meg ei fjør
    Så skal eg verkje
    vingar kvite
    Lat oss flyga
    i vide vindar
    I hugjen veida
    Med songen seida
    Høyr eg spør!
    Lend meg vidsyn
    Lat meg skilje
    Sjå i skodda
    Høyr eg spør!
    Lær meg songen
som deg freistar… som meg freistar
som deg finn… som meg finn
    Vil du meg fylgja
    i all mi tid?
    Vil du meg varda
    i all mi tid?
    Gygrefuggel
    Gav meg vingar
    Kvite korpa
    Gav meg sjon
    Galdrekråka
    Gav meg songen
    Kvite vingar
    Fylgjer meg
    _________________________
    White Raven
    Into twilight
    Lure you in
    White raven
    Veiled and dwelling
    Let me ask!
    Lend me a feather
    I will turn it
    into white wings
    Let us fly,
    wide on winds
    With hunting minds
    and sorcerous songs
    Let me ask!
    Lend me your wide-sight
    Let me espy,
    in fumes of fog
    Let me ask!
    Teach me the song
that allures you… that allures me
that finds you… that finds me
    Will you follow me
    throughout my time?
    Will you watch over me
    throughout my time?
    Spirit-bird
    Gave me wings
    White raven
    Gave me foresight
    Chanting-crow
    Gave me the song
    White wings
    Follows me

    Did you know:
white ravens are actually more common than you think. Most white ravens aren't actually albino, they have something called leucism which takes a lot of their pigmentation, but not all. Because of this, the mother will either throw it out of the nest or kill it, and the few who make it to adulthood are shunned by other ravens and have almost no chance of ever mating because of their color. (plus they typically have blue eyes.)

    • @EyeSeeThruYou
      @EyeSeeThruYou 3 роки тому +34

Crows also exhibit leucism to varying degrees, regionally, as well. The trait is becoming more common in wildlife, what remains of it, and may be correlated to climate change.

    • @johannes4271
      @johannes4271 3 роки тому +106

Something to add is that ravens aren't actually black - to other ravens atleast. Their feathers are iridescent and since ravens (and birds in general) have a wider spectrum of visible colors they look entirely different to one another than what we perceive. Since any pigmentation change might mess up the whole scheme, it's hard for us to know exactly how alien a white raven looks a raven.

    • @EyeSeeThruYou

Avians, reptiles, insects/arachnids, and a very small, select number of mammals (caribou and other deer species in the northern hemisphere) have vision evolved to perceive the world through the UV light spectrum. Primates and likely most other mammals cannot.

This was the first song I've heard from Wardruna, around the time when it came out. I wish I knew them earlier, but I believe everything happens when and as it should. I was lost my whole life, I couldn't be myself and I didn't really know who I was. Einar's music came into my life the right time.
Of course, I have a friend, who is still with me and guides me through my journey, and I must mention this person too, because without him also I couldn't heal.
But I needed Wardruna, and I still need them. Einar will never know, how he saved my life and showed me how to find my purpose. I can only thank him in my heart.
Next month I'm getting my first tattoo, Wardruna's rune, to a place where it'll cover up the very first scars from the past. It'll guard me and remind me to respect myself and that I found my path. There's still long way to go, and Aurora has also been a lifesaver to me, and now Gealdyr's music helps me too taking the next steps. But Wardruna and Einar will always have a special place in my life. Aaand I'm tearing up. :)
    Thank you, Einar.

Deep sounds are Earth melody and higher pitch are Air melodies. And think of times when you were as a child having happy moments with your parents and grand parents, it will lead to .. strange .. dreams.

      @@lbrtrdth Here is a short list, ..
a.) When " awake " you have a family get together with your family and their older friends. In dream state there is .. way .. more .. people in the house. Like most families people have good fun picking on other members doing short imitation humor acts on each other's behavior. So when you are awake you do a quick joke imitating someone else's behavior in the act, and few people in the group start talking about one of their friends or dead family members use tell that joke almost that very same way.
b.) Songs link us to our extended family pass, songs are share cultural tradition that unite us with or ancestors. On my dad's mother's side of the family they are Dutch/ Irish, so us 15 years old got some language tapes to learn how to do those accents and practice chanting the Catholic's Lord's Prayer with really bad Irish/ Dutch accents for a couple of months.
For the pass year we grew our own grain & fruit, age the wine and brew and age the beer, with the passing of that winter snow packed the drink to have the cold part the alcohol into whisky the old way. Early Celts that were recent Christianize but still keep their old traditions did not have hemp to smoke but the did have magic mushrooms. Best part our grand parents let us trip our balls off doing a Catholic pagan rite in old accents.
During that time we still had plenty people around from the Great Depression and fought through WW II. They said other than the mushrooms their dad's & grand fathers did pass the whisky bottle around a prayer circle at church. But they never saw a prayer circle begin at sunset and last till sunrise before with young men drumming their chest in union. Those who saw, heard the story about it, and those who spread rumors regarding it said we were weird. And some though we were really cool.
We got some " hate " for the .. shameful way .. we did a Christian rite and told That is Not the way to prayer to Jesus/ God. But for the next month we started talking, acting, and singing gospel music the way our school's teachers grand parents did. Then I started having dreams on being around farms and talking about details that my grand parents never told me about and working in a bakery my German great grand father worked it before marrying the owners daughter being my mom's grand mother. My grand dad was a bit shocked and impressed, since he never talked about the details of his early childhood running around the bakery cause the adults told him to get out of the way and to stay out of trouble.
But my grandpa already knew his father spirit was coming and his house telling his grand children stories about the bakery.
Four year old asking after talking to their imaginary friend, " Grandpa, who did this ?
c.) Back in the 1980's when I was nine years old I had to live with my mom in Florida and she drag us children to a South Baptist Church cult. After hearing for a month that Jesus still loved me despite being a Cuban which them always reminded me of, my Sunday school class mates pointed out to the teachers that my last name is the capitol city of the island of Sicily. Then they tried to make me believe that my Italian grand parents were going to hell cause they are Catholics.
I told them I am .. Sicilian, not Italian and they should go and learn some history. I got paddle for that. At lest once a month I got paddle for one reason or another till my mom decided to move back north to her parents when I was 11 during spring break.
Also " that church " taught that grand parents don't look down and watch their children from Heaven but sleep in the grave till Christ second coming. Ghost of dead family members where demons to lead astray Christians from God to the devil. Some even pushed that imaginary friends were also demons so parents had to be watchful of over active imagination of children. How or Why a few hundred people who went to that church believe or put up with that level of bullcrap is beyond me.
Didn't help that at school or out in public I had a problem of talking to strangers or people that were not there. Unlike what a lot of " psychics " or mystics say about seeing spirits or ghosts, I could not tell the difference between the living or the dead as a child. And I hated getting paddled at church. As a teenager and an adult I do not practice magic or preform it in public. Strange things just happen around me, where people just disregard it as their imagination. I look at most things in life as a Buddhist. Just work on being calm and relax with being chill.

@@edgygohan6452 Yes American moment... the thing with us Americans and our obsession with our ancestry is that our country is such a melting pot there is no true American heritage that isn't indigenous and obviously those of us who aren't indigenous people have zero claim to that, rightfully. We all long to feel like we fit somewhere and many of us don't ever feel "quite right" or connected in any way, then we discover our roots and suddenly it opens a whole new world to us of "belonging" to something much deeper than this impersonal melting pot of a little bit of every single culture, the vast majority of which we white European descendants are not welcome or allowed to participate in.

    • @Erika.Jupiter
      @Erika.Jupiter 4 місяці тому +1

      @@jennaleonard876
Note: I use Gemrany as an example because, well, I'm German.
The majority of you are not "welcome to participate" in European culture because you're not European. You're American. Simple as that.
For one, the majority of you have never even been to the countries you claim as your own. Y'all rarely speak the language and know next to nothing about the actual culture and the little bits you do know tends to be the overly cliché/stereotypical stuff shown in movies. You can't claim to be German when the only things you know about Germany are Hitler, pretzels and Lederhosen.
Which brings me to my next point: The majority of you treat "European" culture like it's one big organism when it couldn't be further from the truth. Take Germany for example. We've got large cultural differences between our 16 states and even within them. Hell, we've even got a handful of different ethnicities and languages here.
I've seen Americans talk about how proud they are of being German and how much they love aspects of the German culture that are solely found in Bavaria... which is funny, seeing as their ancestor supposedly came from the fucking north of Germany.
Being interested in your family's past is one thing, but running around and claiming your 1/4 German is in another league of its own. I mean... do y'all think we didn't have a mixing of cultures like that? The likelihood of meeting anyone that's 100% German, Polish or Italian is slim to none. Most Eastern Germans have at least one Polish or Russian ancestor and they'd still not claim to be either.
And that's ignoring the fact that, just like in the US, a good chunk of our larger cities have separate cultural identities of their own because they're also multicultural melting pots.
Aside from that, American culture IS a thing outside of the multicultural hot-spots. If you'd actually bother with the countryside and rural areas you'd find plenty of places with their own unique little quirks. Like... what do you think Thanksgiving is? The 4th of July? That's part of YOUR national identity. That IS part of the culture. Hell, language is a massive part of culture and y'all got plenty of unique dialects and even languages over there. For example, Texas-German is a thing. lol
It's not like you can't be interested in learning more about the places your family originally came from... but there's a difference between being German and ascending from Germans. Meaning: Instead of saying "I'm 1/4 German", you should say "My ancestors are from Germany".
Lastly, I want to add that, personally, I don't particularly mind when Americans show an interest in learning more about their ancestors origin. It's always fun to explain typically German stuff to them and a joy to see someone show an interest in our language but the way some of y'all present yourself matters a lot and has definitely influenced the publics perception. Too many people I've talked to had to deal with Americans claiming a cultural identity as their own when their presentation couldn't have been more ignorant/arrogant.

A single spotlight was illuminating the musician with bowed instrument (idk its name) and at 1:23 when the rest of the song drops in, the stage illuminated. Goosebumps, one of the most life affirming performances I have ever seen.

In the Poetic Edda, Eir is named as the companion of the jötunn named Menglöð. The two of them are invoked for healing together. Eir is a goddess and servant of Menglöð. In one telling, she guards the castle of Menglöð, atop the mountain Lyfjaberg. Lindy plays either Eir, or one of the maidens, or Menglöð. Menglöð's nine handmaidens are called Hlíf, Hlífþrasa, Þjóðvarta, Björt, Blíð, Blíðr, Fríð, Eir, and Aurboða. Hlíf is notable for its connection with the word líf (life). Just now for the first time listening to Wardruna .. totally touched and drowning in this massive, beautiful music. The repeating walls of sound are truly hypnotizing

There is no other group like them. I just found them in March, and am totally in love with their music (bought 5 CD's). Best thing is that while steeped in Scandinavian roots, Einar's creativity has so many variations to their theme. From dark to acoustic to almost bluegrass to madrigal to heavy Viking drumsl. Amazingly talented!!! Many are on UA-cam -check them out!.

@@hollyhawkins8489 It will never be the same like the first time, for my part. Several times I started to cry and I know why: Wardruna fully connects with nature through their music. This longing for being whole and pure again while we lay our body to rest in Mother Earth her embrace is in all of our dna. To realise how far we have been drifting off makes me cry

Listened to this while sitting with my daughter in my lap. She's 3 years old and said "again" when the song ended.
We're swedes, and I wish to believe she felt the connection our ancestors there👍🏻🇸🇪

@@Werewolf914 Svensk här. I really hope you see Sweden one day. It truly is a magical country. Either if you're in the forests, the sea or mountains, it gives you a sense of admire for our ancestors who lived and continued their lineage to us. No matter what country you come from of the North, we're all children of those who came before and whose actions led to us being here. And for that we should thank them.

Children are extremely intuitive and if their allowed to continue with "natural" beliefs, you will discover (to children) it's as easy as breathing. I am a Native American from the Illmawi Tribe originally located, in, what is now called commonly referred to as, San Francisco, California; plus, my parents never forced me into, specific religious beliefs, so, I was never constrained. I have studied numerous belief systems, from; Christianity, Tibetan Buddhism, Shintoism, Confucianism, Judaism, Islam, and the Natural Native American "pagan" beliefs which we call - Panentheism (meaning "All-in-God"), that "All Things" are the being and becoming of God (beyond space and time).
Your daughter is probably; strongly, connected to her past lives and other people, she has had, a special relationship along with. Culturally, to me, these children have a potential to become extremely, powerful healers. I have Swedish friends and almost every time, I find, a profound similarity between our two cultures. I call them, my "golden haired, brother's and sister's".

Words can not describe, how much your music means to me. It gives me so much strength, hope and connects me deep to the roots of something so raw, pure, natural and otherworldly. Been to your concert two days ago in Zurich / Switzerland and I‘ve felt shivers running down my spine, non-stop, the whole two hours. Your music is pure magic, and I am beyond thankful for what you do, for what you are ♥️
