John is my favourite build by far but probably because the Mongolian special is one of my favourite episodes.
By the end i just wanted to adopt it!

Totally agree! Bridge on the River Kok is the best build by these three, despite the slope on the bridge. 🤭
That piece of paper that came out of the box and flew into the camera strangely looked like a really smooth camera transition.

Can't stop laughing at 9:49 with Hammond's expression of marginal at best suppressed terror being momentarily replaced by his reaction to Jezza saying Shoestring is street legal. Then pointing out his reason of concern, naturally, the jet engine behind them.
Also, the seating arrangement. Hamster was just kind of shoehorned into Shoestring between Jeremy and James.

I can understand why Hammond bulked at going on the jet boat, his record in rocket powered vehicles is about as good as the average ME163 pilot.

I know it's Top Gear and not the Grand Tour but I always think fondly of Geoff, their electric..."car", the 2 mph jet powered amphibious vehicle, the mighty HoverVan, and Clarkson's P-45, the smallest car... in the WORLD.
For me, the most impressive thing they did on TG was launching the car (a reliant Robin?) on a rocket. That was just bloody bonkers that they were even allowed to do that 😅
@@widkin oh you mean that time they turned a Reliant into a fucking space shuttle with an external fuel tank and booster rockets? Yeah that was pretty spectacular, I don't even care that it didn't work properly. It's weird that Clarkson wasn't involved in that, it seems like such a Clarkson idea, but presumably they didn't want him around anything requiring careful handling and precision engineering.
@@cleverusername9369 yep, that's the one. Looked absolutely spectacular, and back then, they had not done as much insane stuff and presumably did not have the same budget as today, which makes it even more impressive.
Clarkson moaning about the camping bed remind me of the Polar Special, where he also complained about the bed

I could watch the Mongolia special over and over again, and I have. My favorite too. I even want the John kitcar if there were one, I love it.

Would have been better if they would have actually shown to results of the the trebuchet launch instead of the fake ending. They’re best stuff is when crazy goes sideways
It looked like it went almost straight up. But yeah, I'm not a fan of the fake endings.

My guess is, not so far. They might even have just used the shell of the car to cut some weight. I think they dropped it from a crane for those shots.

Just for fun;
You would need a Trebuchet 1165 meters high to launch a car from England to France. That is around 300 meters higher than the tallest building in the world.
But it's practically impossible because of air drag and would probably only go
1600~ meters or just under a mile.

I have loved these guys for years for years..
Hammond has awesome taste and made the greatest looking old school ever in existence.
I have literally had this car in my dreams multiple times.
These 3 produced some incredible moments in cars. The arguments, the trash talk, the knowledge of the 3 of them together discussing cars and history of some of them, and the fun they had about discussing facts
I quite honnestly think the Mongolian special was the best, the car, the land, the moments,
Nothing staged.
Please do one where they are told to get the best off-road A vehicle for under $15,000. I don’t care where just I want to see a budget off routing challenge

that bridge was very cool and using the wave to get him unstuck amazing WoW , very cool that is using the brain cap device for sure .
5:51. That was a killer whale wave hump and he used it to free james and i cannot tell you how smart it is. His genius does generate it's own gravity sometimes.
