You consistently have one of the best channels on YT for putting tools in real-life auto repair/service applications, giving an amazing idea of how they will perform in the most realistic shop scenarios, without all the fluff. You have no idea how much this is appreciated. Keep this up!
I've yet to upgrade the original M12 screwdriver or 3/8 ratchet, they do a perfectly fine job. I do have the stubby FUEL hex impact driver, stubby FUEL 3/8 impact wrench, and FUEL Hackzall since they're much more powerful than previous generations. I do have the soldering iron, inflator, and lantern but they've never been updated. The only M12 light I have otherwise is the new ROVER service/repair light which is great, and complements the fantastic Harbor Freight BRAUN magnetic slim folding and underhood lights.
Thanks for the side by side comparisons. Was thinking I wanted the newer version but after seeing the torque limitations of the high speed tool I'm now thinking of going with the lower speed/higher torque version. Many thanks!
Depend , I gonna switch to the fastest cause as a body work technician it’s most suitable , tight space and sometimes put a screw bits or torx on it attached to 1/4 socket, It Helped me a lot specially in tight spaces , I go for the speed , ratchets originally never was creates for strength but yo streamline work 👍
Ordered me one at hd today! I seen on there screen the count of how many is available from homedepo online right now(144 now) for tool only atleast. I seen it finally hit the hd website at around 1 this afternoon so I headed straight to the store to order it as I have no PayPal yet.. but got me one on the way, been waiting a couple months for it to be released.
It may sound crazy. But I would prefer the older high torque model. In most automobile applications you're going to need the torque to break away rusted or old nuts. So I'll take the gen 2 model. Excellent video.
I think this one is just for the pure speeds. If you're doing something like any covers or little bumper clips WHERE you cant really get a stubby or some hex driver then it would be really nice. Seems like it's a replacement for the 1st gen to me. Same torque but WAY faster and i'm gonna guess a bit bigger head?
My question to you and whoever is reading this, which type of style ratchet do you prefer personally, this short type of ratchet or the long neck type? Which one who you recommend buying? I’ll be working on my car a lot.
That’s definitely a preference thing. I tend to use a long necks a lot more. But I am like in the high speed of this new version. Maybe they’ll come out with a long neck high speed ratchet.
That ratchet will be great for mechanics, I have the higher torque one, and I love it. Do you think they will come out with an extended reach of this version ? I would get that in a second
They haven’t said anything but they read all the comments and everybody seems to be asking for it so I wouldn’t be surprised if they come out with one.
Seems like this tool would benefit from a speed switch like a drill. That way we wouldn’t need two different ratchets and they were both have that nice compact head.
I wonder if there is a way to get an option to disable the ratchet completely so you can choose to run it as a ratchet by hand, but basically just go into a drill mode when doing the rest with the motor. Personally I dont care what torque it has, thats what impacts are for, but I wonder if both speed and sound level could be very much improved if it allowed you to disable ratcheting and just free-wheel it. Also very curious why I havent seen anyone make it like that. Probably not very cost effective, but there are high end brands that WILL sell their tools regardless of what they ask for them... Oh well, just my thoughts. Nice video! Edit: Just to clarify, when I say I dont care about the torque, I of course mean as long as it has enough to back out reasonable screws and bolts quickly. When I say thats what impacts are for, I mean that between stubby impact, right angle impact etc there already are a ton of options for slightly stubborn bolts ^^
Would have been nice if they were able to get that extra speed, keep that torque it had BEFORE (Gen 2) AND have the smaller head. Feels like it just falls a bit short but still a nice tool. 1/4" Gen 2 seems like the winner if you don't need assembly line speeds.

Thank you. I try to make them how I would want to see them.
Cant wait for the long reach or long neck version of this high speed!!! That will be a game changer
@@joshm2243 . I'm waiting on the red neck version. Maybe after that they can release a brown neck version.
No other channel shows the tools in action like you do, great work Brian.
Thank you!
Man I still have the original normal M12 ratchet. For 80$ new though can't complain.
Same here

The higher torque ratchet is the best version imo if you really want higher rpms in most cases an impact wrench can do the job and better
Thanks Brian . I just got the 3/8 m12 speed ratchet . Is very fast . Im so happy ! . Very good video . Thanks again . 👍

Great review! Very informative. Especially the real life situations comparison. 👍🏼
Yo tengo un ratchet de 1/4, mi pregunta es, se le puede colocar el yunque de 3/8? 2:09
I just ordered one, I'm so excited about it!
Awesome it quickly became one of my favorite Ratchets!
Great comparison. Thank you.
Thank you for watching!

Fantastic video - thanks!

Great overview and demo 👍Thank you for sharing 👍
Thank you for watching!
How much longer before the mighty M12 FUEL 3/8 long reach/high speed/locking flex head ratchet with 65ft pounds of torque in 1/4 body?
I don’t know but that would be awesome
It may sound crazy. But I would prefer the older high torque model. In most automobile applications you're going to need the torque to break away rusted or old nuts. So I'll take the gen 2 model. Excellent video.
The gin too high torque is definitely a workhorse. Can’t really go wrong with either one.

The extra gained of speed is cool feature however torque is more important to me .
Great job as always
Thank you!
Can't wait for the long neck
Me too they should be pretty awesome!
Very info, love the intro.👍
Pretty cool!
I agree. Thank you for watching!
That’s was one of my main questions 1/4 or 3/8 drive and which to get
What did you decide?
Hello what is stronger by using hand the 1/4 or 3/8 high speed ratchet

LOL!! Or just buy the Snapon and get both in one tool!

I do know Milwaukee reads all the comments and you never know they may be able to accommodate you with a tool like that.
Where did u buy this from I can’t find it anywhere
Check home depot

Saving them carpal tunnels one by one!
Lol
Por seguro me compro un Milwaukee
U cant go wong with either or
Ah so the question remains....which to get
Yeah, right I still don't know which one to choose😂
Only one way to solve that problem get them both 😜
@@HowtoAutomotive might have to get the slow extended and fast shorty. Have you heard down the pipeline that they will have a fast extended?
@@cjarloz I haven’t heard anything yet but I can ask. But they like to keep those things under wraps until they release them.
Great video Brian, would you suggest the 1/4 or the 3/8 high speed ratchet?
I would base that decision on what you’re working on.“The best decision is both 😎
Wonder if this new one will have them same problem as the Gen 1 which had the broken heads.
I don’t think so he has a much more stout head did the gin one.
I'm ok with my old version
👌👌👌
If they come out with a long neck and IF they increase the torque to be at least what the original is, I’ll get one but until then? Meh
I’m sure they will come out with extended reach version but will they be able to get more torque here’s the question.
