I never understood why someone would buy a 1/4 inch drive cordless ratchet, then I changed shops and a coworker has one that I absolutely love. Wished I had bought one so I went ahead and ordered one.
Hi Brian. Just had a question. I'm a DIY home mechanic. I already have the 3/8 fuel ratchet. I always thought that when working on cars, the 3/8 was minimum, and 1/2 was heavy duty use. But after watching a couple of reviews, I noticed 1/4 was used more than I thought. In your opinion, should I get 1/4 and use my 3/8 for heavy use? Or would you suggest I get 1/2 fuel ratchet for heavy use? And why? Sorry for any inconvenience, and thank you in advance.
This guy can hear the future. It took me an hour to remove a nut on my 2001 Deville air injection valve. I was trying to replace the plugs. I wonder would this have fit back there. I just uploaded the video.
I got my eyes on the 1/2 inch with the 3/8 adapter mainlybecause of torque. But i need to actually try to feel it in my hands before i buy it but locally we cannot get it just yet.
i told my snap on rep i was going to buy the 1/4 snap on for $429... it wasnt in stock, so i changed my mind and picked this milwaukee for only $236.. i think i hurt his feelings
i just bought this Milwaukee fuel ratchet and i am loving it!! My only complain though on mine, the forward/reverse selector isn't always the smoothest. I know the selector isn't going to be perfectly smooth every time, but not having a grease fitting on the head does concern me a little on how smooth/reliable it will be long term. Maybe i am just crazy lol. i do guess that is what the 5 year warranty is for!! You think if i pour a little oil in the head from time to time will help it without harming my ratchet?
So, between these and the older version, which would be a better buy? I've heard that they both have their quirks and some people who have and have extremely used them still prefer the older version. Any input?
What's a Boost? Without a doubt I would pick the new one. I use them everyday with out any problems. The 1/4 is my favorite, it's the one I use the most. Hope this helps. There is links in the description for the tools, thank you for watching!
HEMI LOVER I bet the half would be perfect for the spot in between the bed side and the frame wen removing rear bumbpers on Chevy's that's the first thing I thought of
I don't know about this. I got the 3/8 because I have 3/8 sockets down to 7mm. Unless you just can't get the 3/8 ratchet into a place, I'd rather have the 3/8 inch ratchet. I got the older one because it was cheaper on ebay, it's only 35 ft. pounds but that's enough for most of what I'm using it for. I'm not a professional mechanic either.
Clearanceman2 it’s just one of those preference thing some guys like to use and work with 1/4 some guys like 3/8. How are you liking the ratchet so far?
Really nice. Smaller bolts and especially hose clamps, stuff like that, really speeds things up. I already had the charger and batteries from the M12 heated jacket. It was only $75 on ebay for the bare tool new shipped but it's not the latest version, like I said only 35 ft. pounds, I think the new one is 65 ft. pounds for the 3/8 ratchet But it works fine for me at home.
Clearanceman2 Sounds like you got the right tool for you. I’m in San Diego and it doesn’t get cold enough to wear the jacket. But It looks sweet. Thank you for watching!
Wendell Greenidge I would so far no. I've had no problems with the head size. I have chipped up the powder coated finish on the head so I would recommend a Cover.
i have the 1/2`` right out of the box can stop the anvil with my fingers second one came under warranty 12 weeks from milwaukee to get it took it out of the box and the same thing can stop it with my fingers....i will see what milwaukee has to say about this one..i have video..my point is if milwaukee sent you a demo they would make sure it was in good working order
how does it compare to the old version. apart from higher torque all i see is that it is bigger and more bulky, which defeats purpose of small form factor of 1/4 inch tools. All their other tools got more powerful AND smaller. this got bigger. i dont see advantage
Hey nice post sir. I'm just a bit mad at Milwaukee because the old nicd batteries are no good and the new batteries don't fit my tools so I have a great set of tools that are useless
I can't see the value, cost up to $200 for an M12 tool only, the good batteries are still $60. I bought an M18 2668-20, cheaper, more power, more versatile.
Just ordered my Milwaukee brush less 1/4in ratchet from Home Depot after seeing this review.
gilbertrudy626 awesome you’re gonna love it! Thank you for watching!
Thank you for actually using your tools in your reviews.
Aaron M that's what I want to see when I'm look for a review. Thank you for watching!
I am a current owner of the 1/4 inch model and I can personally vouch for what this guy is saying 👍

Very nice! My 2.0ah m12 batteries only take like 30 min to charge from dead to full
Thanks for the excellent review; showing it in many "undesirable" places and the battery life has sold me.

ruben valdez for me work on mostly European and Asian cars the 1/2 inch is not practical.
How to Automotive i see. Funny thing is, i sold my old Milwaukee ratchet and went Snapon, and now i sold my Snapon to go milwaukee again...
ruben valdez that's funny. I'm not a fan of snap on electric tools. Overpriced average performance battery suck
Thanks for your tool review and using to demonstrate
THE CURE thank you for watching!
i told my snap on rep i was going to buy the 1/4 snap on for $429... it wasnt in stock, so i changed my mind and picked this milwaukee for only $236.. i think i hurt his feelings
iamjames I bet he is hurt. But now with the money that you saved you can get the 3/8 drive as well or a Impact gun and do double the work.
Hey Brian thank u for a nice review. Would u choose these fuel ratchets over the snap on? I mean size and to get into tight areas
I have this 1/4 ratchet. Just want to ask. Is it normal that when ive tighten bolt and it cant tight even more and the fuel indicator blink?
Excellent review! 👍
Darwin W thank you!
How does this compare to the other Milwaukee 1/4” ratchet? I feel like the other one can fit in to tighter areas. Any opinions?
Great tool and review.

bb2status yes having a Grease fitting would have been a good idea. Time will tell how well they hold up. Thank you for watching!

how much does it cost?
If you already have the old gen. Worth upgrading?
vseanw yes it's worth! Just buy the tool only and reuse the batteries and charger from your old one. That will save you some money.
What can this do that the 3/8 cant?... I want to see the reason for the 1/2... More power but more size
1/4 can get into tighter spots, since the 3/8 is much more bulky. Also, the 1/4 has much less torque, which is ideal for smaller fasteners.
HEMI LOVER I bet the half would be perfect for the spot in between the bed side and the frame wen removing rear bumbpers on Chevy's that's the first thing I thought of
Just get the 3/8 all these test that were done in this video have lots of space where the 3/8 could do the same job. Good video though.
raydogg27 I was trying to figure out which one to get to work on my car. So you think the 3/8 is the better choice huh.
The 3/8 will snap heads easy 1/4 better for under hood work 3/8 really only use for braked and such so 1/4 will get more use my opinion

Long neck ratchet in October 🌡🏁🏁🏁
Ramon A. Pagan Kercado I know I was at the NPS19 show. Did you see my video on them. ua-cam.com/video/IJDCblHMt0U/v-deo.html
Does the new head make it a little more difficult to get into right places compared to the previous design?
Wendell Greenidge I would so far no. I've had no problems with the head size. I have chipped up the powder coated finish on the head so I would recommend a Cover.
How to Automotive will they offer a cover and don’t you think it might add too much bulk to it?
Wendell Greenidge they do have Covers and I think there is plenty of room for it. The head it's not that big. Thank you for watching!
i have the 1/2`` right out of the box can stop the anvil with my fingers second one came under warranty 12 weeks from milwaukee to get it took it out of the box and the same thing can stop it with my fingers....i will see what milwaukee has to say about this one..i have video..my point is if milwaukee sent you a demo they would make sure it was in good working order
i hope milwaukee is paying you cause you just sold me another tool
ramar492 Milwaukee is not paying me I'm recommending these tools because I use them I and trust them. They did supply the tools for the video.
doesnt matter to me its good to see stuff being used in the field
how does it compare to the old version. apart from higher torque all i see is that it is bigger and more bulky, which defeats purpose of small form factor of 1/4 inch tools. All their other tools got more powerful AND smaller. this got bigger. i dont see advantage
The new heads are less prone to busting like the previous versions.

Im fuckin hungry

really nice but i think it's to fat for what i'd want it for
its stronger and faster with the 6 amp battery, blows away Snapon crap
