The game winner move for Zest are those 2 observers in front of Clem's third and in the path between natural and fourth on the left. Evverytime Clem was moving out, Zest could comme by the flank because he could see the terran's army.... we can see them at 7:59 and 8:51
I was just binge watching the videos here at this youtube channel and i wondered why there's no comment on this video, and now i just realized this is just uploaded
This is basically Cure vs PartinG again, Zergoss smashing their head against the terrans until something happens. Just that Zest here didn't quite capitalize on going greed with bases.
I don’t understand why zest refused to expand for so long. He had all the pressure on clem’s side of the map and he didn’t take his 5th until 16:45 ! Wouldnt this game have been much more one sided if zest decided to just not make 4 zealots and instead a nexus?
i think because Zest underestimated his opponent. From what it looks like, he was gunning for an early gg by killing SCVs, but Clem hung on instead, added with the help of how tenacious Terran can be when cornered. He keeps on pushing zealots because he kept thinking he is close to breaking Clem
@@screwed8182 That's probably why he ultimately won. The constant aggression made Clem think he was doing worse than he actually was. Clem should have built refineries for gas so he could make vikings to take out the colussi, and Zest should have taken more bases since Clem was hardly attacking at all. There were multiple open base positions near Zest the entire match that were never threatened and he never took.
If you take a step back and build a nexus, that is one more spot for the terran to drop. If you give a korean pro the time and place to do a drop they will do it
From what I observe early game you'll use mass queens for defense because they're more mobile and have supporting abilities. Mid game you (hopefully) have good creep spread, and can react to attacks before they get to your basses. Late game they just kind of die. The only time I can think of Spines being built is when the Zerg is Cheesing or they're being Cheesed. Meanwhile, Spore's give detection, and Air unit's 'generally' can't engage ground well, so that's why they get built all the time.
@comma roodin Valid point. Although I'd say zerg static defense isn't even static though. Cannons can be warped in, sure. But they cant be moved or repositioned to favor a fight. You can literally pick up zerg defenses and move them with your army. They are literally weak versions of a lurker or tank. There's a reason why 50 spores are made a game and still survive late game. Meanwhile, missle turrets get killed every 3 seconds by a flock of mutas, cannons just get sniped by broods, while spore crawlers are out here killing intercepts and carriers.
Are these inefficient Protoss builds deliberate? Parting did the same thing recently, seems like it's effective at keeping the Terran on a pure bio comp and buying the Protoss space to expand behind it
Yeah it seems a lot of players these days are exploring inefficient comps where you win my forcefully keeping your opponent's econ low. It doesn't matter if your trades are bad when you just have more. Even if the game goes late, you can just take more bases overall and never get punished for losing ~8k more resources than your opponent by the time resources are off the map.
I think it's more of Parting and Zest's playstyle. They thrive in chaotic and high pressure situation. Zest inefficient but relentless pressure had the unintentional side effect of breaking Clem confidence level in this game even though Clem wasnt that behind in terms of army or worker most of the game.
zest could have won so many times. those zealots being kited to oblivion at 3:00, zealots going for the CC at 9:28 instead of surrounding the bio... he could have won those fights easily if he had controlled his zealots better
This game was awesome by 2 pro players! But it was the perfect showcase of why I don't like medivacs and that we need MEDICS with double target healing at 33% energy cost!!! Storm would be good but not as deadly and Colossus wouldn't be that bad and we could focus on firebats to protect Marines from zealots, marauders for anything ground and ghost to remove shields!
I feel there was quite a few times where Clem could have easily won this game, but either he didn't know, or didn't want to make the correct decision with his units. Ah, well, I suppose that is SC2 for you. It just seems that this is one of those special games of it.
That poor SCV at 14:02 charging three colossi... "ALL 127 OF MY FRIENDS ARE DEAD, I DON'T WANNA LIVE NO MORE!"
lmao RIP
He just doesn't want anything anymore
Just wants to punch that damn alien in the face for the last time
Feel the wrath of terrans best melee unit you cheesy aliens!
That death-stare snap of the collosi was absolutely terrifying
You run out of marines?
Lol, Zest didn't destroy Clem's army, he destroyed his morale

That was the best part of this video

Maybe lower hp than before?
2:55 JESUS CHRIST THOSE STORMS ARE BEAUTIFUL
Got to love some chaotic matches, shows the pure skill level they're on.
I watched this game live. Really well done by Zest. He made Clem think he was behind with his non stop aggression.
8:56 😂 "Is he playing Zerg!?"

8:54 "look at this ! is he playing zerg ???" lol
2:10 Zest really loves his slow zealots!
Where he studied tactics?
oof I think losing those ghosts at the end, without getting any emps off, was the nail in the coffin
3:20 is simply the cleanest lost fight I’ve seen. Very sort of graciously efficient retreat
Dude clem had it he just didnt know, that sucks
That's why this game is such an information war. If you know more about the state of the game than your opponent, you can go pretty far.
Reminds me of that Idra game where he ragequit when the opponent had just killed a command center on accident.
@@nabusvco or when he ragequitted vs hallucinations . It was too funny
@@nabusvco or the idra game where he quit after seeing collosus hallucinations
What? At the end it wasn't even close. That game had been lost for so long.
It's so painful to be a Protoss fan and see them get kited and EMP into oblivion, and seeing Zealots just thrown away in every battle. Hurts
"Double prism storm drop" sounds like an ulti zest had
Zest: exist
SCV: now that’s an avenger level threat
Protoss army: this is where the fun begins
There needs to be like a party skin set where like the Oracle becomes a disk ball and the zealot warp blades are glow sticks or something

Zest the toss who plays like a Zerg
9:30 if there would have been 2 storms, game over
you know looking at the static defenses, was there a nerf to the zergs spine crawlers? i dont see any of them at all actually
Haven't played SC2 for more than a year now but I can say queens are doing the same job for better results
Zergs never really used spine crawlers. Spore crawlers are still there though vs airtoss.
From what I observe early game you'll use mass queens for defense because they're more mobile and have supporting abilities. Spines have 2 base armor, so good early game vs all ins. Other than 1 or 2 base all in defense, worthless until lategame
Why doesn't Zest take more bases? Don't they pay off pretty quickly?
Protoss has some really shitty defenses especially against mine drops
Also, protoss units are expensive, so it's hard to put down a nexus when you're struggling to keep units on the board.
SC2 is ultimately, as well, a game of will
Damn the pressure is mental.
07:28 Reason why Zest got the game.
You underestimate my mediva-- *gets shot down*
terrible play by zest, half his army is attacking buildings.
Are these inefficient Protoss builds deliberate? Parting did the same thing recently, seems like it's effective at keeping the Terran on a pure bio comp and buying the Protoss space to expand behind it

It’s a common strategy because it’s actually more consistent
May that also forcing terran to produce marines more bc they're quick and cheap, and counter them with HT or Colossai
I think it's more of Parting and Zest's playstyle. They thrive in chaotic and high pressure situation. Zest inefficient but relentless pressure had the unintentional side effect of breaking Clem confidence level in this game even though Clem wasnt that behind in terms of army or worker most of the game.
clem just sitting there on 1 gas (1 vespene gas not mining)
