  • In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2, Professor Snape still helps the Order when he redirects McGonagall’s spells to knock out his fellow Death Eaters. He also takes their wands before he flies out the window to make sure they could no longer harm any students. In the books, there are no Death Eaters around him so it was a nice touch to add this detail in the movie.

To me, Snape was by far the most complex and most tragic character in the entire Harry Potter series. He wasn’t perfect as he did still become a death eater in the first place and felt guilty for doing so and disappointing his one true love. When he found out her life was in jeopardy, he did everything in his power to save her and then devote his entire life to protecting Harry. He probably had some resentment towards Harry because he did get bullied by Harry’s father and they always talk about how Harry is like his father. Plus there multiple times when Harry was just downright unlikeable. At the end of the day though, his devotion to Lily made him have the same devotion towards Harry even if it wasn’t expressed outwardly. Everything he did was to protect Harry.

Snape is most definitely the best character. Also, couldn’t the death eater still technically punch the students? They don’t necessarily need wands to preform the act of hitting someone. Also, why don’t death eaters take guns with them just in case their wands are stolen?

@@PistonragerNo Alan's Snape is the real true Snape. Not all book, not even all movie, Alan portrayed Snape the way he felt his persons was, after JK revealed a small part of Snape's backstory. He wouldn't do a scene if he thought Snape wouldn't do it. Alan portrayed Snape for 10 years, and 8 movies. He gave his character life breath and soul. Alan is the physical embodiment of Snape. You want to know why he's the favorite and most celebrated character?
Snape shows us that pure unconditional love can change a person to the good. Snape shows us that the lost lonely and hopeless can find redemption if they just look for it. He teaches us that the old adage, never judge a book by its cover, should be our motto. And last but not least, he shows us that some things are worth dying for.

Movie snape is the "True Snape" that is a strange argument for "he really thought his character would still abuse kids". Putting aside the Scotsman argument, nothing he acted was "good". Not sure why you would bring up popularity, though ive never seen him in a high position on the poles i have seen. People like villians AND sob stories of unrequited love? Shocking.
He did as he was told by the person keeping him safe. He didn't become a wholesome figure, didn't soften in his grief. He was in every way an asshole. There are few examples of him doing "good" things and every one of them is either by order or self interest.
Even him being a spy for Dumbledore is terrible writing. Known as a spy after the disappearance of Voldemort.... and then immediately back in voldemorts good graces, as a what? Double spy? The Death eaters should have killed him. Voldy should have.

so nice... interesting that it only happens in the movie.
and that there was that "rumor" about Alan Rickman refusing to become Severus Snape for the Harry Potter franchise until JK revealed to him, in secret, that Snape was a good guy.
everybody praises Snape for being such a great, selfless, guy that managed to trick Voldemort and protect Harry because of his love for Lily.
it's the same sh*t that happens with all the people that fanfic Hermione and Draco as a couple because Watson and Felton are good looking and make a great couple.
since Alan Rickman refused to be a bad/evil guy, then Snape had to be a good guy. even if it doesn't make any sense.
this detail of using McGonagall spells to defeat death eaters before stealing their wands is great at the movies but it's tiring to see people use this kind of "only in the movies" sh*t to praise a death eater that revealed the prophecy to voldemort.

If you look closely, he actually doesn't take their wands. Him flying left and right before flying out the window doesn't mean he took their wands lol.
