Varaha murti lifted Bhoomi devi, the godess earth. There are many ancient sculptures and statues depicting bhumi devi as a godess in human form lifted by varaha. The earth like depictions are more modern.
The spherical depiction in temples also roughly coincides with the time when most people were figuring out the earth was round

You're absolutely correct. Also the Puranas, where Varaha avatar is discussed, explain their understanding of the geography of the earth pretty cleary.
There is a continent in the middle called Jambudvipa, which is surrounded by six concentric, ring-shape continents called dvipas.
This is clearly not the description of a spherical globe. The Puranas imagine the earth to be flat.
The ancient vedas where geography is discussed itself is titled as "boogol" which means "round earth". The dvipas doesn't necessarily say the earth was flat.

I like the fact that a group of people claim their religion to be "scientific". But what they do is they either quote some scientists like Carl Sagan. Or they misquote a scientific theory to suit their religious book's verses. Or just misinterpreting both the religious verse and scientific theory.
To conclude this is just selection bias to prove their faith as modern and scientific.

As for Pythagoras learning math from Indians, I can't say. Even if that's true, he would still be credited for being the first. You wouldn't credit Newton for Einstein's work in the theory of relativity just because Einstein used calculus invented by Newton.

Yes, so glad you made this video. I also visit the Varaha temple everyday and varaha idol here doesn't carry anything on his horns. Normally Varaha is depicted as carrying Bhudevi. I am tired of the so called 'Sanatanis' who try to Scientify Sanatana dharma. I don't know why because Sanatana dharma is about spirituality, its about the inner world and Moksha. There is no need to point out modern science in it. But yes there are some texts written by Varahamihira, Aryabhatta and Brahma gupta and several other people which discuss about astronomy and astrology which approved by modern science except astrology. I know that Sanatana dharma works because i am a practitioner of Yoga, Jyothish and some of tantra as well. But i would recommend others to NOT connect it with modern science

I have never thought of Hinduism as scientific. There are many things unscientific in Sanatan. Im mostly a right winger. I have just found it to be philosophical and logical and something that gives me a sense of mind.

I've never been too into my religion but recently i have decided to venture, explore and learn. And I can say so far that Hinduism isn't scientific. It is logic mixed with genuinely smart philosophy. As I am reading the Bhagavad Gita I have found a sense of peace within the philosophy in it.

I think ancient Indian scholars knew that the earth was spherical (and the center of the universe which is wrong). But yes, the Varaha avatar is not a proof of this. But we do have some sources like the earth being described as round in a recent vedic verse I read and then there are greek accounts from around 300 BC that mention this.
Anyone who has a little knowledge of Indian Iconography can debunk the Varaha lifting spherical earth Bullcrap. Spherical Earth has never been depicted in ancient sculptures, it has always been a figure of goddess Dharti/Bhu devi. One can go to the Ellora cave temples and see for yourself how it has been depicted.
From where do you get the information that it was bhu devi

The Varaha thing isn't even necessary. The term "bhugola" has been used many times in the Jyotisha Vedanga and the puranas to refer to the earth. bhugola means terrestrial sphere.
Bhugol means circle like a Disc or plate.

The first description of the Vraha story is seen in two texts of hinduism : Taittiriya Samhita and Satapatha Brahmana .
Both of these texts reference the earth as bejng round :

as the word bhugol is used in both these texts and both these texts are more than 4th Century BVE older than the time of Aristotle . So yes , the stories do refernce to earth as being round and hence the paintings don't show anything wrong .

translateion : As the Earth is shaped like a wheel with its encompassing circle."

@@TruthSlap9In general, any philosophy is meant to assist in building constructs such as your outlook of life and society, mental frameworks, etc
Well if we talk about Vendanta specifically or any of the other non-dual philosophies/practices that it is a basis of, one positive takeaway is the “non-dual” aspect. If I may paraphrase, the framework basically says that there is no good or bad, everything is divine. And I would say it is positive because, the more you progress in the path, the less you would judge people and things and be completely respectful towards everything and everyone.

I think you have only touched the historical aspect of the depiction of varaha avatar. I think you should have looked at the logical aspect of it. According to the story, varaha lifted earth from water. If the earth was understood as round, where is the water? If the water is within the globe, then where is the water it lifted from?
