Correction: There is a debate around when Emperor Ashoka converted. For example, Sanjeev Sanyal’s book says that Emperor Ashoka converted to Buddhism before entering the Kalinga war. Ashoka invaded Kalinga in 262 BC and a minor rock edicts that Ashoka had converted to Buddhism more than two years earlier. Thank you to those who pointed this out! Thank you. I just don't get why Indians see our past as being glorious when the modern age is the most peaceful & living standards are much better now! Maybe, it's not wanting to face the reality that for a thousand years, we were enslaved by "foreigners", when in reality there was no concept of "country" here before 1947. Plus Monarchs were no friends of the civilians & absolute power has always corrupted people, absolutely.
We all know these things. But we outgrew such things. We dont praise our violent acts by the violent kings. Problem is today peaceful community will gather and use these stories to justify hatred for anybody who isnt Muslim and justify oppression of all non-Muslims all over ummah to this day.
@@tarun1982nobody did that and second, since you are talking about present times, it's Muslims all around the world who are suffering the most not the other way round.

It’s important to learn the good, the bad and the ugly of our history without any religious colour because as George Santayana had once said - ‘Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it’. Kudos for picking up this topic and not flinching from speaking truth. Humans have an intrinsic desire to always glorify their past without knowing anything and picking only selective evidence to confirm the same . Always good to have an honest reflection of it.

Being a Buddhist, I can confirm that King Ashoka was a Buddhist many years before the Kalinga war. There is an inscription in sanchi mentioned Ashoka as a PRINCE tripped to sanchi stupa with his newly married wife. In 14th major rock edict of Ashoka does not mention he converted to Buddhism after Kalinga war but he felt more attraction to Buddhism after Kalinga. Secondly, being a Buddhist, it does not mean king can not fight wars. Wars are integral part of moranchy. Monarchy fight war in interests of their kingdom. History is full of wars. Despite Kalinga war, king Ashoka had very beautiful views and doctrine reflected in his administration and propagation of Buddhism, mentioned in his rock edicts.

Not only Indian kings but also rulers across the world employed violence as a means of asserting their authority. Historical accounts provide numerous examples of this widespread phenomenon. For instance, ancient Egyptian pharaohs employed military force to expand their territories and maintain dominance over their subjects. In Europe, kings and emperors engaged in brutal wars to conquer new lands and establish their rule. Similarly, Chinese dynasties, such as the Qin and Han, employed violence to consolidate their power and enforce their laws. From the Aztec rulers in Mesoamerica to the feudal lords in Japan, violence was a prevalent tool utilized by leaders worldwide to exert control and enforce their rule.
Very true. This long history of violence that we have based our whole society on sometimes makes the idea of nonviolence sound funny, even if that is what many of us want.
True. But the western world came out of medieval barbarity sooner than we did. If not for the Britishers (It's a constitutional monarchy), we would still be divided & under some dictator's rule! Sometimes you need an advanced civilization to make you free from shackles created by your own people.
Bro these people giving hate in comments are the those who were praising him when he was telling the negative side of mugals but now when he tells the negative side of some ancient hindu 🕉 king then they are hating him "Hipocracy ke bhi seema hoti ha "😂
Mughals are not ideal we also admit it but the way you guys show your history clear we have problem with that…..and you guys are not even ready to accept it…
People are deeply brainwashed. Many of the so called muslim kings didnt even care about islam. It wasnt uncommon for them to be actual drunkards and alcoholics. Example, jahangir. People need to understand that there is minimal difference between the current ruling government and the "demon aurangzeb" they hate. Aurangzeb used islam to please the islamic elite of his empire, and the current government uses hinduism to please the current hindu elite and public. Also, before you start calling me muslim or pakistani or whatever, Im an atheist born in a hindu family.
Today many Hindus are not ready to accept this thing: that their Hindu kings were violent, they have entered so much in politics and religion that they do not even know the truth.I like your content mohak. Be continue 👍
I agree hindu rules were also very violent but It's not all about violence..Hindu rules did not marry there own daughter or married there sisters.. And they didn't not make female trafficking a big business and didn't rape females of other religion in front of there fathers or husband if the refuse to convert.. You need to study more before defending your mughal idols 😂😂
Their violentness was not motivated and justified by their culturee and religion, even the facts he is stating are fake created by marxistt historians, sita ram goel ji wrote letter to romila thappar to mention sources on which she was saying hinduss destroyed and looted their own temples and also budhistt sites. lol
Yeah, you're right...... India should sell away all their weapons and stop training their people for wars, 😄 as that will lead to violence, 😊 It's okay, even though it's important for the Kshatriya(warrior) class to be present in a country to protect it from invaders and secure their legal interests, but still, 😊 Since you love non violence so much like Gandhi Ji, I think to please you people and Mr Mangal, we should definitely take the above mentioned step, 😇 What do you say?? 😅
A king is a warrior by nature!!! Plus, they train their entire lives constantly because they know that they're the only shelters to weak people of their Kingdom and it is their responsibility to make the environment safe and conducive for economic prosperity to happen....... Now, what do you expect??? Should the Kings totally come unto non violence??? 🤔 Indeed, they have fought numerous wars...... And you can't fight wars without violence 😁 So, what's the point in telling there was violence in the past??? 🤔
I feel like many Indians nowadays are very disconnected from actual facts and the truth itself. Whenever I try to argue with them with facts and stuff they claim that I'm being an Anti-Hindu. So I just leave them with their small mind and let them argue with other people. This channel brings informative content hope they watch it and get some sense.
i think your most likely conflating issues , i imagine its not facts that there was issues with rulers , i most likely think its a religious issue , so that they see facts but one set is just because , whilst the Muslim ruler was due to religion , the trouble is they are correct that Islam played a role in the crimes , but so did all other religions and its that fact i think they dont want to accept , however i have to say i have also found this among Muslims when it comes to Islam , and Christians on Christians crimes

The goal of history education should be 2 : (i) To identify the reasons which made us stand. (ii) To identify the reasons which made us fall. If we know them instead of date memorization we would able to recreate the first and avoid the second and lead to glory once again.
Wrong, the goal of history should be to make us feel proud of our ancestor's achievements and understand our roots and culture. From where we belong and what our identity is.

Just a correction emperor Ashoka converted himself to Buddhism before he went into the kalinga war. It is said ashoka dyed the river daya full red with the bloodshed and then in the aftermath he changed himself seeing the bloodshed. Then he truly started following Buddhism by making monasteries, inns and preaching non-violence and then he went on live as a monk by handing over his thorne to his son. Thats our local folklore in odisha. Again great video mohak bhaiya❤❤
True that he killed 150,000 men women & children as per his own edicts. By this time he was already Buddhist. Daya river on outskirts of Bhubaneswar turned red with blood....

@percygekkouga2151 @percygekkouga2151 OK. So from starting 1. He cherry-picked lines from the Mahabharat episode, and it would seem like Shri Krishna wanted war. But the reason why Shri Krishna said not to attack first was because it is crossing the limits of Dharma. There is literally a 'Shanti Parva' in Mahabharat where Shri Krishna tries really hard to establish peace despite knowing the fact that Mahabharat will happen. You can literally see how much Hard Work Shri Krishna tries to put in order to establish peace and says that if for peace any Pratigya is sacrificed, then it means that Shanti is quite cheap 2. I don't get it why he took Ramayan example despite there being nothing wrong there. 3. He mentioned half truths about Samrat Ashoka. 1) Samrat Ashok never had 99 brothers. The Ashokvadhana is an overexaggeration. He maximum would have around 6 brothers. 2) Samrat Ashok was not always violent. He was a pretty peaceful guy at the start. He infact managed to stop a rebel, which his elder brother Sushim couldn't without any bloodshed. He was pretty famous among people due to his good governance. He became much more violent after his mother death as it was Sushim who killed her and also tried to kill her pregnant wife when he was on exile. It was Radhagupta who saved his wife. 3) Samrat Ashoka never killed any ministers. The reason is that all ministers liked him and were convinced that he should be the king. He was righteous, and his subjects in Ujjain were living happily, and he was an expert at stopping rebels. Only one two ministers were on Sushim's side. However, Sushim was pretty much useless as he couldn't stop revolt in his own regime. He was flirty and much more. Under Radhagupta, all ministers tried to convince Bindusar that Ashok should be the king, but he had too much love for his son. He died like that, but before Sushim came, all ministers summoned Ashok and declared him as king, which led to 4 years long Civil War. After Kalinga's war, he was convinced on Non Violence but made a strict rule. 3. He mentioned Jalouka as the son of Samrat Ashok. However, there was no son of Ashok whose other name was Jalouka. Historians like Romila Thappar say that Jalouka might be Kunala, but that's highly unlikely reasons being. 1) He was taking care of Takshashila Province and not Kashmir. 2) Based on some of his stories, he is someone who will never go against his father. 3) He never became the king due to the fact that he was made blind by Tishyaraksha (Samrat Ashok's wife). 4. Tishyaraksha was jealous of Bodh Tree, but she never destroyed any Bodha temple. In fact, Samrat Ashok was already Buddhist before marrying her. So it made no sense. She was given a death sentence for blinding Kunala. 5. I don't know why he mentioned Krishnadevaray and Tenali Rama as they had no role in the next story. 6. The King Shashanka fact is correct. However, some historians also suggest that it was done as political motivation, and Buddha people lived peacefully under him. 7. He mentions that Chanakya Neeti also promotes violence for the throne. However, in order to understand Chanakya Neeti, you should know some basic principles of Neeti. Chanakya Neeti is for making of a perfect king and nation. Neeti is subsect of Dharma meaning ways to establish Dharma within society. There are four Principles of Neeti namely 'Sam (Peacefully talking)', 'Dam (Using greed of a person)', 'Dand (You know)', 'Bhed (do anything)'. The order of using this principle is same as above. That's the reason why Violence is necessary. So this argument is pretty stupid as in order to maintain Dharma (Dharma does not mean religion). Not all kings who used violence were good. I agree on that fact. The fact is wrong that Chanakya Neeti promotes violence. 8. This fact is als wrong that Jain and Bhudhism gain popularity in 6th CE due to acst discrimination. This religions were always there in the society and a big number of people followed it. 9. I agree the fact that many Kings before Mughal were bad and they did wrong. However, the one I see people idolize are- Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Maharana Pratap, Krishnadevaray, Kuvar Amar Singh, Raja Raja Chola-1, Samudragupta, Chandragupta-2, Chandragupta Maurya, etc. Also the reason why we should celebrate Ashok was because he saw faults in his way and changed for better. Also the fact that he never intentionally hurt his subjects or other people. That's the reason why he got two names as Chand Ashok and Devanampriya Priyadarshi. It would have been better if he had divided the video in 3 parts and did proper research.

Biased video." Violence" done by kings is used as a means to justify Islam in India and how we all should be tolerant towards Mughal kings. "Violence" is pointed out as a common quality shared by both hindu/mughal kings and therefore its suggested that Hinduism is no different than Islam. It is pointed out, that the Hindu kings are also "violent" towards foreign religions and therefore it is only fair Mughals kill Hindus and destroy Hindu temples. The youtuber suggest that we all should hate the Hindu kings equally as Mughals🤣 because "VIOLENCE"🤣 All the while the video ignores the main points of Islamic ideology: how it is intolerant by design. how it is political by design. how it is a foreign religion and not indigenous. how many violent verses it contains compared to Hinduism. how the scriptures preaches violence against other religions. (does Hinduism do that?) violence is common in power struggles across all religions. WW1 was Christians vs Christians (of the same family). Violence is an outcome of war, And war is fought for Ideology. Is the youtuber implying that we should view the Hindu kings in the same disdain that we view Mughal kings because "violence" is a common factor in both? Ideology does not matter apparently.

There is a code that historians have to keep in mind “ Don’t try to compare or judge historical figures or individuals to today’s modern understanding of the people’s rights because the conclusion is not fit from any perspective “ People who are interested in or studying history knows that history itself has to be taken with a grain of salt since historically how good or bad the events maybe they still have more sides than what appears on the paper and the understanding of these sides tells more about the situation and the environment of that time period. Buddhists and Hindus are not rivals and are not competing for converts or privilege. We happily visit each others temples respect each others clergy and listen to each others teachings which are not all that different. For most part there is a symbiosis. Thailand which is one of the premier Buddhist countries is the best example of Hindu-Buddhist harmony - the King is a Buddhist and the Royal preceptor (rāja-guru) is a Brahmin. The palace in Bangkok contains a Hindu Devasthānam (temple) dedicated to the Hindu Trinity and the (Thai) Brahmins chant Tamil hymns of the Tiruvemppāvai.

A small factual correction! Ashoka didn't accept buddhism after the war. He was already a Buddhist (most probably since 4 years before Kalinga or may be even before) . The story of him converting to buddhism after seeing bloodshed is just made up & has no mentions in any scriptures, all Buddhist manuscripts that talk about ashoka bust this myth. and this just happens to be another romanticized version of history written in NCERT may be to make the story more dramatic. Many experts even attribute his violent actions to his evangelical aspirations to spread buddhism across the subcontinent. But i won't go into the details of that since the purpose of this comment is to simply point out factual inaccuracy in the video. 🙌

We people need to stop comparing the 21 st century lessons of mahatma gandhi shit to the history, hinduism has always appreciated defence , whether lord ram or lord krishna , took avatar to destroy evil , and for that they had to fight , fight doesn’t denote violence. The intentions of the fight does , MAHARANA PRATAP , CHATTRAPATI SHIVAJI fought to save their motherland , does that make them evil , does our army man who fights day and night makes them evil ? War is always a part of our society and everything has consequences , we better stop comparing the ideologies , non-violence cannot exist because if there’s sun there is moon , evil - good , THE CONCLUSION :- WE NEED TO FIGHT FOR THE RIGHT , FIGHT FOR OUR MOTHERLAND AND STAND ON THE IDEOLOGIES OF OUR GODS ⚜️
caNo one is comparing mahatma gandhis ideology with the past ideologies. there are different ideologies with different perspective. a sensible person can make use of both the ideoplogies. but gobars /andbhakts doesnt have the IQ to understand this

Mohak, another great video. I envy the unbiasedness you bring to your content. Just as an aside, what if Buddhists and Jains begin claiming the temples Hindus destroyed? I think history is important for learning and improving, but the current attempts to right these kinds of wrongs will always be partial and majoritarian and, hence, unfair.
Exactly, i actually didn't know the history well. Didnt know the topic of Hindu kings destroying Buddhist sites n monuments or making them into Hindu temples. If this issue were to come out n asked for it to be reformed, all the religion propoganda would turn around n not give a shat. One thing we all need to know is, no religion's kings were non-oppressive towards others religions 100%
As a Jain, I have grown up learning about how some of our most glorious temples were either broken (generally by Muslim rulers) or converted (generally by Hindu rulers and to a lesser extent by Buddhists). However, I disagree with the idea of trying to bring back everything to as it was because in my opinion it will be a pandora's box and will just lead to more violence. And as a Jain, I feel its better to stress more on maintaining non-violence than trying to correct the wrongs of the past which could lead to unimaginable circumstances.
Truth and Reconciliation Commission can be a way to go. Commission can also decide the stature of the place of worship, if it is of the utmost importance I believe Hindus should readily hand it over
What unbiasedness.....in whole video he uses only Dn jha a pro leftist writer and other also.....and you calling unbaised......the whole video is baised.......and his researcher is Zaira khan then what we can expect .....😂😂😂
Anyone adopting extremist ideology and acting on it is a terrorist. For example, you in this case have adopted the extremist ideology where you believe all people belonging to one religion are terrorists and then you act on this idea by trying to spread it and sow hate. In such a case you would be a terrorist sympathizer who propagates ideologies that will lead to acts of terrorism being commited on the group that is being shunned thus making the perpetrators terrorists.

Great Work Man, really well explained!
The goal of history education should be 2 :
(i) To identify the reasons which made us stand.
(ii) To identify the reasons which made us fall.
If we know them instead of date memorization we would able to recreate the first and avoid the second and lead to glory once again.
Exactly history should be about reason, facts and philosophy instead of personal ideas, opinions and dates.

@percygekkouga2151 @percygekkouga2151 OK. So from starting
1. You can literally see how much Hard Work Shri Krishna tries to put in order to establish peace and says that if for peace any Pratigya is sacrificed, then it means that Shanti is quite cheap

The youtuber suggest that we all should hate the Hindu kings equally as Mughals🤣 because "VIOLENCE"🤣
All the while the video ignores the main points of Islamic ideology:
how it is intolerant by design.
how it is political by design.
how it is a foreign religion and not indigenous.
how many violent verses it contains compared to Hinduism.
how the scriptures preaches violence against other religions. (does Hinduism do that?)
violence is common in power struggles across all religions.

There is a code that historians have to keep in mind “ Don’t try to compare or judge historical figures or individuals to today’s modern understanding of the people’s rights because the conclusion is not fit from any perspective “
People who are interested in or studying history knows that history itself has to be taken with a grain of salt since historically how good or bad the events maybe they still have more sides than what appears on the paper and the understanding of these sides tells more about the situation and the environment of that time period.

Religion shouldn't interfare with society and politics,.it should only be used to find solace and inner peace, that's what even acharya Prashant says.
