I find it hilarious that being sick changes your voice almost exactly the same way Goku's voice changes when in SSJ4 form in the dub. It's an immense shame it had to fall just 1 WEEK off from the actual SSJ4 reveal after over a decade of the show, it would've been so coincidentally perfect.
I care about Oob :( Seriously though, even as a kid I always liked the idea of a progressing timeline and passing of the baton. It is part of the reason I enjoyed Dragon Ball, the time passed, characters aged and changed designs, I always found that kind of thing fun. In that sense, Oob, Pan and Gohan were all disappointments to me, as promising new generations that weren't (though of these Gohan at least got *some* sense of character progression by the end). Also, even as a kid, it is part of why I liked the GT ending, because it finally actually put Goku to rest and I even loved the concept of Goku Jr.
If DB and by extention Goku didn't become such cultural icons then yeah maybe Gohan and/or Pan would've lead the next generation, but at this point nah, hopefully Oob and Pan become good suporting characters in the future tho, and they dont repeat the mistakes GT made.
Let's not forget the mean green multiversal genocidal machine, Zamasu. I like Baby Vegeta best because the hair mimics Baby's head tendril. It also reminds me of the band Flock of Seagulls
The best thing about DBD December is that no matter what I always get a new DBD video for my Birthday! Thanks for continuing this tradition and despite being sick I actually really like how you changed your voice for this episode you sound a lot like the DBZ narrator from the Funimation Dub.
What angers be the most is poor Oob: who is underutilized. Oob could have been a valuable asset later on against the evil dragons or even Super 17 but is often forgotten. I really hope he gets a time to shine in future Dragon Ball media. Hell I'll even settle for Dragon Ball Heroes at this point just so long as he's not forgotten!
Of all the characters that GT screwed over, Uub in the top 3, following behind Pan. The guy had been training with Goku for years, so by that logic, he should be just as strong as anyone else. But just because he isn't a saiyan, the writers thrown him into the basement along side Piccolo, Mr.Buu, #18, etc.
I'd say Uub gets it worse than Pan. As much as it will always suck that she was denied the status of first female Super Saiyan, at least she still got to be the second most prominent character in the show. The only one who continues accompanying Goku throughout the final arc.
I disagree. I mean Uub was fighting on par with Baby which establishes him being stronger than the rest of the main cast including Goku at this point, and later on it's revealed that he turned himself to choco on purpose. Before Goku transforms into SSJ4, Uub was literally the strongest good guy
This is the most seductive dragon ball dissertation video I have ever seen. That voice has what I like to call the French Language Effect where everything he says makes me think he's flirting. Be honest people, hear someone talk fluently in French and tell me it doesn't sound like there flirting.
I don't know, french just sounds annoying to me, it could be italian, but that sounds aggressive, maybe spanish but that sounds like annoyingly angry, maybe as a german I am angry in general.
One of the very few things I think Super has the potential of doing is actually fleshing out Oob as a character and making him interesting. They almost definitely won’t, but there’s hope lol
I like Uub in concept. He’s from the same village as King Chappa and he’s the oldest sibling of his family. I like that when Goku takes on an actual student it’s some random kid (I know he’s KB), and it’s a human no less. I think that’s very full circle. GT missed the op to explore that partnership.
In 8:10 seems to me more like an unconscious coincidence. As a composer myself, it happens to me all the time. One time I thought I have made the best composition of my life, only to a few weeks later find out that it was a piece from The Hunchback of Notre Dame!
I think Oob should have been a member of the team from the start but have it be before his training is finished. & Since the 1st arc of the show was tried to capture the magic of the OG DB Goku should have been depowered to when he was a kid but keep all his techniques(and his transformations). Then Goku can play the mentor role for the younger generation. This way nobody is too powerful that it make everyone else pointless(at least in the 1st arc)
Yeah, I feel like he was really done dirty. Established at the End of Z to be part of the next generation only to be dropped from the main cast of GT. Which is weird? I feel he could’ve fit in just fine, it’s not like having 4 main characters (5 if we count Giru, I suppose) makes much of a difference. It could help add dynamics to the characters, since Pan might be jealous that her grandfather has spent so much time with someone else compared to her, while maybe Oob could feel alienated from the group. They all come from legacies of great fighters or importance, and while Oob might be a reincarnation of Buu, he didn’t, and still doesn’t, *know* him, he doesn’t really know what he inherited. Could make for a fine arc of learning his place in everything and standing on his own. Buuuut that’s just me spitballing. Regardless of how he could’ve been handled, he’s missed potential and poorly handled regardless.
@@EnbyVess Personally, I never felt bad about Oob being sidelined, because the show never spent any time on him to create any tangible connection with the viewers, just a sense of wasted potential. You are right, Pan would be very jealous of Oob because he get to spend years with her grandad. As for team dynamic, the 3 of them receiving training from Goku would build up their relationship with the highlight being the Oob-Pan rivalry
@@EnbyVess And I almost forgot, Oob is the 1st onscreen reincarnation in DB(maybe a lot of people that died get reincarnated, but we never saw that), this is the most interesting part about Oob back story. So having him gradually remember his past( or the evil that was expelled from his soul to let him reincarnated as a good guy, comeback) & fighting to stay in control could be interesting. Though this plot line would dilute the 1st arc, but in the next arc where villains are revived is the perfect time for Kid Buu to return & fight Oob for control
Deep voice Lance is something else! And you also did a great job pointing out how poor Oob doesn't matter because we've never been made to care about him, he's only been used as a plot device, and how Baby set up his own downfall by recreating his planet next to the earth. To me it always made sense the earth could reflect the sun's rays with the same (or greater) brightness as a full moon when it literally orbits Baby's planet. I never thought much about the narrative implication of Goku transforming because of the earth until you mentioned it, but that's also a great point and made me love that moment even more. I always liked Uub. He has a unique design, a compelling backstory and he's Goku's definitive student. Its not his fault that they dropped the ball with him. Uub should have been the protagonist of GT along with Pan, Trunks and Goten.
Okay, you're delivery here was hilarious in all the best ways. Like a perpetual smooth jazz singer saying some of the most silly things. Everything you'd sound exaseperated over sounds so much more funnier subdued.
I really hate how underutilized Oob was, he was introduced as part of the "new generation of fighters that will defend the future", then GT discarded him after a training session. Then the next thing he does is getting a beating and receiving a white-wash power up that just makes him get a harder beating.
We had a Frieza movie, and recently a Cell movie. I would not be surprised if we get a Buu movie, which would be the de facto best time to reboot this character
I think the logic behind calling him Dai Kaioshin is that it's not necessarily a cosmically distinct role that you have to be born into, but more of a formal title used to distinguish between Kaioshins if there are ever multiple of them. This kinda tracks with how Super handles the Kaioshins from other universes. The number of Kaioshins in a given universe can vary, and we know from extended lore that they apparently grow from some tree and sprout up randomly. So there can technically be any number of them. Sometimes there's only one, in which case they're just called Kaioshin, but if there are multiple, the eldest takes the lead and gets called the Dai Kaioshin. So as soon as Shin's ancestor appeared, that immediately necessitated reintroducing the formal title that had been absent since the original Dai Kaioshin perished. He probably isn't used to the name, himself, since he doesn't seem to have come from an age where he had such a title, which is why they only occasionally call him that.
Besides Pan, there isn't a single character GT does more dirty than Uub. A crying shame as there is a ton of potential with him and the writers just didn't bother cause "well he isn't Goku so who cares?"
10:34 I actually really like the Trunks outfit too. I personally think it would have come across as far more palatable to fans if Trunks either rolled up the sleeves to his brown blazer to make it more symmetrical with his khaki shorts, or just went with full khaki pants instead. I think the khaki pants is such a simple change and everybody would have liked it. I think the gloves are cool too, but the gloves would feel better with a design that used the sword showcased in the opening. If he doesn't actually use the sword, I see no reason for the gloves. Toei did a good job tying GT Trunks to Future Trunks. Fundamentally they're very different, but their main outfits share blue and black. Future Trunks' focus is on black with a blue highlight whereas GT Trunks' outfit more centered around brown colours with the blue even more subtle. Him having the blue as a scarf also helps his design stand out when he takes the jacket off. It's a good design and a good callback to previous design elements without it feeling like its baiting for nostalgia. You look at these two characters standing next to each other and it totally feels like the same character but from another timeline.
I would've swapped out Trunks with Uub. Trunks doesn't get any development and already had a satisfying journey. There's no point to bringing him back in any real capacity. It would've been the perfect opportunity to develop Uub and showcase him in all these situations vastly different from what he's used to. The new, important character introduced at the end of the last series should've starred in the sequel series. Also, in the flashbacks, they should've crafted new ones from the time period between Goku taking Uub under his wing and GT episode 1.
I genuinely dont get why they didnt just have Oob with the group in the first place. Hell, Goku, Pan, Trunks, Goten, and Oob would be a very solid squad. Though they could barely handle 3 characters without it all falling apart i cant imagine how theyd fuck up juggling 6 with Giru added
Thanks for the GT series. As one whose never seen that series before, it's nice to hear an analysis from someone who can pay attention to story & theme, rather than "big fight", and who has similar gripes to my own with parts of the Dragon Ball franchise (Goku's friends are useless, why is Vegeta hanging out with them, etc). I do like how the Great Ape Goku vs Baby is also tying into the story's theme and character's backstory, on top of it being Baby's own plan coming back to bite him. While I detest "this is my latest transformation", Super Saiyan 4 is a cool one. Calls back to saiyan's actual biology, rather than the "apotheosis" of Super Saiyan. (One level of SSJ is incredible, don't get me wrong, but it's not really "saiyan". Sonic the Hedgehog can do it too, after all, and I'll take Sonic over Vegeta any day of the week).
Won’t lie it felt like listening to radio where they lowered their voice at the beginning. Then it went to the perfect voice for audiobooks. But seriously though hope you feel better and didn’t killed your voice after this.
crazy how GT realized that getting rid of Boo is definitely the right choice SO many years ago, but Super decides to keep him. like, check it out, GT gets rid of Boo; now he aint a problem. Super doesn't; they have to think of a (usually lazy) way to get rid of Buu every arc, as he's just too strong with too little ability to be serious.
@@Thisdude850 neither Son nor Vegeta could beat him on their own nor together, yaknow. if even Roshi has casually reached the level of Gods just by living around these strong guys, Buu must be mega strong.
@@Green-3c34y65vrbu nah thats cap bro He was Basil level, Goku and Vegeta beat the whole trio, and even if u factor Moro, Goku fought a much stronger version of moro and won, Super's scaling is wacky but it aint that wacky

Is it wrong to say hearing you speak in this voice is oddly satisfying yet bizarre? Because my god I wish I had a cold that affected my voice in such a way.
This was a fun one. Your narration *gave me Kyle Hebert narrator vibes, specifically from Budokai 3 (my brain wants to add that specificity for some reason.)
It's so interesting hearing you talk while sick cuz while I would otherwise think a different person were speaking, your speaking mannerisms still ring loud and clear. Almost like somebody remixed your voice...
I think the biggest waste was how they wasted the oportunity to have Oob fighting Gohan, a great fight that Oob could've actually won. But don't worry, I'm sure the next time Gohan is involved in a fight, it will be awesome...right?
Ya, the beats are all there with Oob but we just haven't spent nearly enough time with him... Plus, we DO care a great deal about Boo but now he's just gone. T_T With that said... ya, I love everything about the Baby vs Goku conflict. It could be better but it just feels so thematically satisfying.
Losing Mr. Boo like this is honestly said, since Oob doesn’t matter at the end. Oob is the strongest Earthling of all time, but he’s got mishandled worse than Tenshinhan and Yamcha because they actually got to do something meaningful in early arcs.
Your sick-voice saying liquid sex is the thing I needed for today. Edit: stayed for the whole vid. Felt like a guest voice-over. Two voices for the price of one?!
Wow it been 2 episodes already in which New Vegeta exist and yet not ones did he mention that all normal humans that Baby carted over to it should be rendered immobile at best due to its 10 times higher gravity than Earth.

@@MistareFusion Sorry that you first now get a response I already wrote one but I guess me mentioning a webside for the whole "pronouncing my name" thing had UA-cam kill that comment without telling me so I first notice it now.
Yeah really wished he used his sword, only in the opening and in final bout we get to see him use it.
I don't know of it was intentional, but it's kinda funny that you ended up doing Andrew Chandler's "xtreme" narrator voice from the US GT dub lol.
damn i was thinking the exact same thing i love that voice
I would've swapped out Trunks with Uub. Trunks doesn't get any development and already had a satisfying journey. There's no point to bringing him back in any real capacity. It would've been the perfect opportunity to develop Uub and showcase him in all these situations vastly different from what he's used to. The new, important character introduced at the end of the last series should've starred in the sequel series. Also, in the flashbacks, they should've crafted new ones from the time period between Goku taking Uub under his wing and GT episode 1.
This was the best sounding episode of Dragonball Dissection ever. 😂
That music comparison blew me away. I had never noticed
Goku doesn’t need to be nemesis to give baby an excuse to let him live. Goku had drunk the holy water that they need later.
This voice lmao. I wasn't ready. But I like it.
MistareFusion sounds like he fused with Qaaman
Cant wait for Furious George vs Xtreme Despair.
I've just had a thought, Uub should have been part of the crew that went into space in search of the DB's to further develop his character.
Glad to hear you going EVEN FURTHER BEYOND!!!
Seriously, great episode, and i hope the sickness has mostly cleared up by now.
Bro went Super Saiyan 4 this episode
I like your current voice, I think it's much more funny because it gives me GT dub commentary vibes.
Love your sick voice 😂 I love Oob even tho he’s not used well at all, and I love the Star Wars music homage
crazy how GT realized that getting rid of Boo is definitely the right choice SO many years ago, but Super decides to keep him. like, check it out, GT gets rid of Boo; now he aint a problem. Super doesn't; they have to think of a (usually lazy) way to get rid of Buu every arc, as he's just too strong with too little ability to be serious.
I wonder if they're gonna do something with Boo and Oob in Super, maybe not fusion again but idk something
Buu outside of the Moro arc was weak so i don't know where you even got this idea from.
@@Thisdude850 neither Son nor Vegeta could beat him on their own nor together, yaknow. if even Roshi has casually reached the level of Gods just by living around these strong guys, Buu must be mega strong.
@@Green-3c34y65vrbu nah thats cap bro
He was Basil level, Goku and Vegeta beat the whole trio, and even if u factor Moro, Goku fought a much stronger version of moro and won, Super's scaling is wacky but it aint that wacky
@@orbboom6119 half of those words arent in the bible
17:46 I straight up had a "my son, the planet, or me?" moment. I thought he meant "My memories of *King* Vegeta (and his conquest of my planet) tell me that this is a great ape" not him needing current vegeta's memories for some reason lol
ASMR version of mistare fusion kinda sounded like the narrator ... and i dunno why that's so strange
Wow. looks like lance absorbed enough energy to become his final form ala baby, and deepened his voice, making it gravelly like how babys is.
And he has the nerve to complain about babys voice getting deep. what a hypocrite.
All kidding aside, great job on the episode. despite sounding like you are dead on the inside, you gave me the impression you genuinely liked the episode and plot twists on its merits.
Well done!
Lance finally did it, they became the Legendary Super Saiyan 4!
The curmudgeonly basso works for you. Makes you sound a bit more scholarly.
This voice is killing me LOL. Its so beautiful
i thought there was something wrong with my player!! Hope you recover soon! I feel bad for Oob as a character.....
Is it wrong to say hearing you speak in this voice is oddly satisfying yet bizarre? Because my god I wish I had a cold that affected my voice in such a way.
*Last time, on Dragon Ball Dissection...!*
Majuub looks cool 😎
shame he got whitewashed tho lol
This was a fun one. Your narration *gave me Kyle Hebert narrator vibes, specifically from Budokai 3 (my brain wants to add that specificity for some reason.)
Lance doesn't just look like an absolute smoke show, he sounds like one this episode as well. *Chefs kiss*
Im rewatching this and i just realized... This is MistaireFusion he didnt get another guy to voice over this eoisode thats just how he sounds sick 😭
It's so interesting hearing you talk while sick cuz while I would otherwise think a different person were speaking, your speaking mannerisms still ring loud and clear. Almost like somebody remixed your voice...
Time to use a voice for radio. Glad you found a way to record despite being sick.
Ngl, I unironically think this voice works really really well
The whole ost of dbgt give me vibes of a classic nintendo or psx JRPG
Dragon Ball Dissection but it's the Toonami host.
I think the biggest waste was how they wasted the oportunity to have Oob fighting Gohan, a great fight that Oob could've actually won.
But don't worry, I'm sure the next time Gohan is involved in a fight, it will be awesome...right?
Went from a fan ranting about the series to disappointed dad reading your rough draft for this episode
Lance sounds incredible when sick
This deep voice on you sounds cool, should do more videos like this. At the same time I want you to get better!
I would like to give thanks to Mr duke nukem for giving his thoughts on this part of gt.
You know what... I actually dig this voice
Can have people blush while watching the video now with this type of voice lol
Wow, you could be a serious narrator or a radio host with a beautiful voice like that, Lance. 💖 Hope you feel better next week, hun 💖
Ya, the beats are all there with Oob but we just haven't spent nearly enough time with him... Plus, we DO care a great deal about Boo but now he's just gone. T_T
With that said... ya, I love everything about the Baby vs Goku conflict.
17:54 This part mixed me up, when you first said Vegeta, I thought you meant the planet
Wow it been 2 episodes already in which New Vegeta exist and yet not ones did he mention that all normal humans that Baby carted over to it should be rendered immobile at best due to its 10 times higher gravity than Earth.
You're right! I totally never thought of that. I'd love to credit you in the final episode of the month for a joke I'm now going to make about that. I want to make sure I know how to say your name, though.
@@MistareFusion Sorry that you first now get a response I already wrote one but I guess me mentioning a webside for the whole "pronouncing my name" thing had UA-cam kill that comment without telling me so I first notice it now.
To be fair most people seemingly never realized the whole gravity thing on Vegeta 2.given how rarely anyone ever mentions it.
Feel free to credit me as well as telling me how I can help you properly pronounce my name.
It’s like if Mistare contracted someone else to read his script.. good episode!
3:32 Yamcha's here!
3:34 Yamcha's dead!
Oh hey the voice this time is weirdly refreshing even if its a sick one?
