Bought a 94 recently and had a charging issue but only at idle. Put a smaller pulley on and it seems to have solved the issue bit I am concerned it is going to over tax the alternator. It was what the seller recommended as a fix for the issue though?
Is is an aftermarket alternator like PowerMaster or OEM alternator?
@@chasingmustangs no it is a motorcraft oem unit, had a 7cm od pulled swapped to a 5.5 od. As a second note after the pulley swap I drove the car and am now getting symptoms not unlike your video about the distributor.
Do you need a fuse for the yellow wire if you run it straight to the battery? If so what size amp fuse?
You don't need the fuse.
It’s the instrument cluster … that’s the whole problem with the charging system … thank me later.. I own a 98 mustang these body syles have a mother board in the back of the instrument cluster and comes unglued an shorts out overtime ..94 through 98 models alot of em get junk or sold for that issue after replacing everything and giving up…
I got the same problem I ready replaced the harness for the alternator and battery and new alternator and still have the problem I ready check the voltage front the yellow wire and I got 12volts

How many many volts from battery when not running and when running?
@@chasingmustangs running 12 volts not running 12 volts but when I disconnect the positive from the battery the car turns off
@@jorgeluisperez7490 ok, I still recommend running yellow straight to the positive terminal and see if readings change. Also, did you replace the stator cable?
@@jorgeluisperez7490 I would still run the yellow wire directly to the positive battery to see what happens.
