    I am the owner and inventor of JigSkinz. Some of you guys have so much talent in the crafting department that I just can't rival. I made these skins for folks like me, all thumbs when it comes to artwork. They work as advertised and can be used over ALL mediums(metals, wood, plastics). They can also be epoxied over which gives them a production lure look. I hope Paul fools with them a bit more. His way of explaining things and care he puts into his projects is not seen everyday. Hats off to you!

    You are absolutely right about the lathe. I can spend hours turning lure blanks. There is something both meditative and immediate about it. I enjoy the juxtaposition.

    LoL, my girlfriend came in when you were using the lathe to shape your blanks, she thought you were making something completely different!, and her face when you put hooks on it was a picture of horror, I was on the floor peeing myself with laughter.
    Thanks mate : )

    Don't know how I missed this episode! Great camera work! I like to use my lathe to turn dowel rod to the shapes I want and then sand the sides to get a more fish type shape. Those skins look good, but it seems it would kind of take the fun out of painting them!

    Your depth-of-field camera work is breathtaking. Very inspiring. I don't like those sleeves though. To me, they ruin the handmade feel of the lure. Your videos are truly awesome, Paul. Thanks for sharing

    • @PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman
      @PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman  10 років тому +3

      zoffinger I like them because of the speed, if I am messing with shapes or trying new things they are great for just getting the lure done and then get out and do some fishing.But it is also great to spend an afternoon painting my nails and fishing lures with an airbrush. Thanks, i made camera jib from a swivel chair for this vid it works but i think it needs a little refinement.

      Once again my friend awesome job on the lure plus vid as always.

    Only just found this, these would make fantastic devon minnows for salmon & seatrout. Especially with the floating properties. Maybe a new idea for some videos ...hint hint ...please... LOL. Very little in the way of Devon Minnow making videos online, an old lure yes, but still highly effective for many species. Absolutely love your channel , one of the best on youtube. Thanks

    the easiest way to do these hard plastic baits would be to use a mold where you can add the internal wiring but then again I'm sure you already know this and just wanted to show yet another way of doing things and that's whats its all about, doing things your way. Ps. damn i absolutely loath those feather lite jars and i just use different containers where its easier to pour it accurately.

    • @PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman
      @PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman  10 років тому

      SolarBaits cheers, Mikko i was going to do some videos on molding them as well with through wires, but i have to be honest i like messing round with the lathe too much its a bit of an addiction. But you are right about those tins, a bit of a nightmare for pouring, i have a couple of big syringes that i use sometimes. Thanks, i have just been out fishing lost a nice pike while the guy i took there for the first time pulled out three, never mind

    Hi, When using this resin, what does the average cost come to per lure, with just the resin. I am not talking about the hooks etc? Is it cheaper to just use wood?
    Also how much are the cool sleeved paint patterns per lure? And can you use them on a wooden lure?
    Thanks

    • @PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman
      @PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman  10 років тому

      Gary Bristow I never really cost lures in that way, but price wise wood is I suspect always going to be cheaper and in a lot of places free as well, there is a link in the description to the jigskins site, I have used them on wood as well and there is no problem but the wood would have to be sealed as these do not make a watertight seal

    • @PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman
      @PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman  9 років тому

      Alex Hirsch Sorry i don't sell them, fishing wise I normally use these on summer pike when they come into the shallows and take topwater lures it is not the most successful method of catching but it is the most fun watching pike somersault over lures they have missed. They stand up to teeth very well and even if punctured the skins last.

    Hey Paul great video by the way. I was wondering does if the epoxy mix is expensive, in a way of saying per lure. How much of those same lures can you make per epoxy can set? The ultralight epoxy is a new great idea, but is it worth it cost wise or the hobby itself is worth it. Thanks

    • @PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman
      @PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman  10 років тому

      ***** This is polyurethane resin, price depends on how you use it and what your comparing to lure wise. I tend make lures for enjoyment and out of curiosity, is it cheaper than buying ready made? Probably not. As to whether the hobby is worth it? To me it is but it is not every bodies idea of fun, but then i don't understand friends who spend more per month going to watch football matches than i spend making lures in half a year. Thanks

    Nice job. It little higher float would have been better. Also, users should be aware that resin can be dangerous. The resin contains isocyanates which are toxic so even when you are lathing, cutting, drilling, you need to use protection.

      Dafydd Humphreys Sadly not yet for the UK and Europe, i got mine from the states. Using Paypal i think even with the postage being more than the product they worked out about 1.50 each.

    • @PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman
      @PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman  9 років тому

      Greg Preston this one doesn't as I am not always fan of noisy lures but just increasing the weight hole size and capping with a bit coke can makes a noisy, rattling, thing
