I am the owner and inventor of JigSkinz. Some of you guys have so much talent in the crafting department that I just can't rival. I made these skins for folks like me, all thumbs when it comes to artwork. They work as advertised and can be used over ALL mediums(metals, wood, plastics). They can also be epoxied over which gives them a production lure look. I hope Paul fools with them a bit more. His way of explaining things and care he puts into his projects is not seen everyday. Hats off to you!
JigSkinz from where can I get skins and is it possible to see all the skins that u got..
JigSkinz great product I would like to see the option for our company logo on top. Just a thought I would use them in my shop.
Never stop showing off the wit. Love the creativeness.
I'm always amazed about your hoard of new lure making ideas , Paul , ........these homebrew resin dowels are just great , ........also thanks a lot for having introduced these "JigSkins" . Greetings , Dieter
I like the sleeves, it really gives a professional finish to a homebrew project. Great video
You are absolutely right about the lathe. I can spend hours turning lure blanks. There is something both meditative and immediate about it. I enjoy the juxtaposition.
Hi Paul. Man that was great keep it up . I like your video because you take your time so we all can understand what your doing thank you Tony
LoL, my girlfriend came in when you were using the lathe to shape your blanks, she thought you were making something completely different!, and her face when you put hooks on it was a picture of horror, I was on the floor peeing myself with laughter.
Thanks mate : )
John Smith i assume you mean a pepper grinder
Rock on!!!! Your videos have inspired me to start making my own lures and pike fishing. First pike on my own made spinner 38". Thanks and please keep them coming.
That is a nice fish, even better on a homemade lure, thanks
I can't stop watching. this is absolutely fascinating. would love to see you make a rattle trap or a popper lure.
great video Paul, a bit different from your normal work but non the less very motivating and fun to watch love your work please keep it up!
***** Thanks, i like to mix it up sometimes
Don't know how I missed this episode! Great camera work! I like to use my lathe to turn dowel rod to the shapes I want and then sand the sides to get a more fish type shape. Those skins look good, but it seems it would kind of take the fun out of painting them!
Impressionnant la qualité de ton travail !!
Tes vidéos sont juste énormes !!
I get excited everytime I see a new video just because the work you put into them is amazing you must have just as much as a passion for lure making as you do editing keep them up and happy fishing :)
xGR33NMONST3Rx I think i lost my passion for editing somewhere round midnight last night, but it all came good thanks
haha i wish i had the taalent that you do love the videos
Awesome video. You never cease to amaze me when it comes to lures innovations. Really enjoyed.
FisherGirl I only wish it was my innovation, the jigskinz, thanks
hahah same here!
FisherGirl Hey what lures do you and your dad normally fish with?
Typically the lures he manufactures- called Mirrolures (for saltwater)- as well Power Team Lures (freshwater softbaits), and crank baits from Strike King. I also use your crankbait designs on your youtube and make my own using balsa wood with the help of your channel!
mainly crankbaits, jerkbaits, worms and craws to answer your question
your work is so professional as if it was on tv even better, just like (how its made)
Thanks i think i have watched every How Its Made, that they have ever made
Wow you've got some nice walk the dog action from your topwater lure. Good job!
What an artist ! im hooked !
Amazing simply amazing, your videos never fail to entertain.
Wow. Excellent. I love your videos. It inspires me to make my own
nicely done! resins like that are awesome! a while ago I got some Alumilite resins and did some lure shapes with it.
Yep I will be messing with this stuff for a while yet, thanks
Your depth-of-field camera work is breathtaking. Very inspiring. I don't like those sleeves though. To me, they ruin the handmade feel of the lure. Your videos are truly awesome, Paul. Thanks for sharing
zoffinger I like them because of the speed, if I am messing with shapes or trying new things they are great for just getting the lure done and then get out and do some fishing. But it is also great to spend an afternoon painting my nails and fishing lures with an airbrush. Thanks, i made camera jib from a swivel chair for this vid it works but i think it needs a little refinement.
***** Hey Paul where can I buy this colored Cover for the lures ?
jigskinz.com/ this is a link to cover site, thanks
thank you too xD
***** I would have to agree on skinz or another reason there logo right on top if your trying to sell them. But for personal use I can see the speed in which it gets done, The other part i didnt like was the weight sticking out of the body, again if only for testing purposes then alright.
Once again my friend awesome job on the lure plus vid as always.
Hola Paul, es maravilloso el ingenio que tienes para crear esos espectaculares señuelos, soy un aficionado a la pesca con señuelos.
Gracias por compartir tu experiencia como fabricante de señuelo artificiales.
Un gran saludo desde Chile.
Fabian A.T muchas gracias
I am watching this again after long time but still it's just virgin as new.
wow! I'm once again amazed by your work. This one seems a little bit easier to do I might try to do this myself! :)
Great vid. Love watching your work. Keep 'em coming
Very nice Paul
Only just found this, these would make fantastic devon minnows for salmon & seatrout. Especially with the floating properties. Maybe a new idea for some videos ...hint hint ...please... LOL. Very little in the way of Devon Minnow making videos online, an old lure yes, but still highly effective for many species. Absolutely love your channel , one of the best on youtube. Thanks
try this devon experiment

@@PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman fantastic ideas Paul, always room for innovation and I applaud your simplistic approach. On some online videos I'd need more tooling than Toyota factories to reproduce lures..😂 Love the jig head adaptation, can see that being a winner for pike and salmon👍
As allways a very well made video Paul - Thumbs up
Splish Splash Thanks, i see you have been doing alright with the Cod on your lures, lucky man
***** Yes, the cod fishing near Copenhagen is fantastic in the summertime, and the homemade shads are working great. Plan to make my own shad for this, based on your video for paddletail softbait lures this winter.
Splish Splash I will watch out for the vid and one day i am going to have to get a cheap flight to Copenhagen
***** Do that, and drop me a line if you do. I might be able to help you get out on the water.
cheers
the easiest way to do these hard plastic baits would be to use a mold where you can add the internal wiring but then again I'm sure you already know this and just wanted to show yet another way of doing things and that's whats its all about, doing things your way. Ps. damn i absolutely loath those feather lite jars and i just use different containers where its easier to pour it accurately.
SolarBaits cheers, Mikko i was going to do some videos on molding them as well with through wires, but i have to be honest i like messing round with the lathe too much its a bit of an addiction. But you are right about those tins, a bit of a nightmare for pouring, i have a couple of big syringes that i use sometimes. Thanks, i have just been out fishing lost a nice pike while the guy i took there for the first time pulled out three, never mind
Good video paul as also .we need some video for salt water lure if possible .thank you paul for sharing.
yanik alain I was think of doing a GT popper through wired and giving it away because there is very little chance of me ever seeing a GT
nice... you inspire me to make my own lures.. i only wish i had a lathe machine... it would only make things much simpler for me to make lures lol.. you should definetly do a video on a 3 piece glide/swim bait... it would be nice... keep the inspiring videos coming =)
paoweevue At some point i will get round to making myself a swim bait. Thanks
amazing ..awsome work ..wish I could find a cheap place to buy these here in nova Scotia the bull run starts in may and would love about 10 of these all Different colors..florescent greens and dark purples work well here in the rivers when the bass are up
they are very clever I have put them on all kinds of lures
That's awesome Paul thanks ..now to find them in canada to buy ...do you know how much they are ..
I don't to be honest but if you go to their website they have I think a list of dealers jigskinz.com
Once again a very well made video! You continue to have the overly calm tone in commentary-that spurs all of on that we can do this! Keep up the videos as you have the time.
Oh fyi the person who wrote on Russian said "very interesting video" .
Mark E. Thanks
Hello Mr. Paul Adams.! I'm from Brazil. !!! I admire your videos. It can be done this procedure on wood.?
I LIKE THAT, SO EASY DONE, WOULD THINK ABOUT TRYING IT.
Hi, When using this resin, what does the average cost come to per lure, with just the resin. I am not talking about the hooks etc? Is it cheaper to just use wood?
Also how much are the cool sleeved paint patterns per lure? And can you use them on a wooden lure?
Thanks
Gary Bristow I never really cost lures in that way, but price wise wood is I suspect always going to be cheaper and in a lot of places free as well, there is a link in the description to the jigskins site, I have used them on wood as well and there is no problem but the wood would have to be sealed as these do not make a watertight seal
Love them ! great work !
Good lure. Had some hits. Gonna try saltwater next
Nice work! Any idea on how much this weighs? I would like to make some if it's pretty heavy.
man that was some awesome skills, great video...do you make any custom lures to sell....would love to get two for me and my Dad!
great job Paul!! think about a thru wire design for the same?
w delakas That is a couple of videos ahead, thanks
Are you happy with the weight towards the rear or would it have been better more towards the middle? Tight work, love your channel...
David CarrI think It is the weight at the rear that makes walking the dog a little easier but it really helps getting distance and accuracy on the cast especially round very weedy shallows, thanks
You're more than welcome my friend. You've inspired me to start playing around with making some of my own... Your craftsmanship is top notch sir...
good luck with it and ley me knwo how you get on
Will do.
war sehr gut wie immer paul daumen hoch. das problem ist bei uns in deutschland man
bekommt nicht immer das material was du verwendest zu kaufen .
How do you keep the ball bearings from falling out of the lures? What if you don't use the jigskin?
Gary Bristow I drilled the holes slightly smaller and as the plastic takes a few days to fully harden they should stay in
Beautiful craftsmanship! How have they done when you've gone fishing with them? Do they catch many fish? Also do you sell them? Please message back bye...
Alex Hirsch Sorry i don't sell them, fishing wise I normally use these on summer pike when they come into the shallows and take topwater lures it is not the most successful method of catching but it is the most fun watching pike somersault over lures they have missed. They stand up to teeth very well and even if punctured the skins last.
Wow, a bit more for homemade:D Ur job is great.
Hi Paul
I fish a lot of pike with jerkbaits. But now I want to make my own. But I don't know how to do this. In many of your videos make you lures with inexpensive materials such as wood
Can you make a jerkbait that inexpensive is en catch well .
I hope to hear from you soon
Thanks in advance
A paint brush handle can be converted or the bulletproof jerkbait without the fibre glass but if you want to build from new this great Video from WR baits on building a simple wooden jerk bait DIY - Make Your Own Jerkbait + Catching Fish With It!, thanks
Thanks paul for the information and the link
Auke
Hey Paul great video by the way. I was wondering does if the epoxy mix is expensive, in a way of saying per lure. How much of those same lures can you make per epoxy can set? The ultralight epoxy is a new great idea, but is it worth it cost wise or the hobby itself is worth it. Thanks
***** This is polyurethane resin, price depends on how you use it and what your comparing to lure wise. I tend make lures for enjoyment and out of curiosity, is it cheaper than buying ready made? Probably not. As to whether the hobby is worth it? To me it is but it is not every bodies idea of fun, but then i don't understand friends who spend more per month going to watch football matches than i spend making lures in half a year. Thanks
en donde puedo conseguir las citas térmicas ya impresas como esas que muestras en el video...soy de colombia y no creo que acá las consiga
lukas villalba jigskinz.com/
Nice job. It little higher float would have been better. Also, users should be aware that resin can be dangerous. The resin contains isocyanates which are toxic so even when you are lathing, cutting, drilling, you need to use protection.
paul hello , I liked their video , congratulations , I would like to know the name of the material you use to do the painting of the baits . thank you.
Paul, what is the trade name or generic name of the liquid plastic and the release agent ? I want to see if its available here in the states.
Sorry haven't finished writing up the tools and materials, but the resin is Smooth-on Feather Lite resin and it is made in the USA www.smooth-on.com/Urethane-Plastic-a/c5_1120_1162/index.html The release agent i used was something i bought a long time ago but smooth on do their own. I have used the plastic tubes without the release agent but it has to be tapped out using a dowel and a hammer. Good Luck
where I think that stuff that was introduced in black pipes that are used to make the bait
that is amazing i am fisherman from cabo san lucas i like to use it
enjoyed these bags with fish format , where I find to buy.

Excellent Video: Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Robert
Hi Paul, i have one question, do You know why ma lure is swimming totaly straight? i give weight in 2 spot (back and head) and i dont know why the lure dont want to jerk ;/
Because you mustn't put weight in the head, the lure needs to suspend tail down, head pointing up
Amazing 👍

love this technique! hook brand please?
tymesho These are VMC size 6 9626ps 4x strong, i have some Owner trebles but they are too nice to fish with I just look at them
too funny! they look strong as hell, but the wire near the barbs appear very heavy, to the "point" of not being able to sharpen easily? I've always used a longer, thinner barb, especially for crank baits. thank you paul!
do they deliver to the UK

Do you know of any uk sellers who have the jigskinz or similar for sale?
Dafydd Humphreys Sadly not yet for the UK and Europe, i got mine from the states. Using Paypal i think even with the postage being more than the product they worked out about 1.50 each.
Now the 3D printer will do it like Formlab or others.
Does it rattle
Greg Preston this one doesn't as I am not always fan of noisy lures but just increasing the weight hole size and capping with a bit coke can makes a noisy, rattling, thing
***** Thank you
