Im on the student leadership team, am doing the NYS envirothon, am pursuing a passion project on racial inequality, and am on debate team. Im also hoping to do an internship and do community service. I also am soon gonna apply to do college now classes at hunter college and am prepping for the SAT. I am gonna in 11th grade/12th grade gonna take the two AP classes my school offers which is AP Seminar and Research. For my regents scores i have 79+. Do you think I have a decent chance at getting into stony brook, john hopkins, and cornell?
Hey Kirt! Although I did go through it, I’m not an expert on the college admissions process 😅 but I can try to offer my two cents. I definitely think colleges will accommodate the fact that your school is not based on a traditional grade system if you reach out to their admissions office via email describing your situation, and they’ll provide a more detailed answer. It seems that you’ve got great extracurriculars going on, which is essential to your application! I’m not from NY, but from what i garnered (through Google lol) is that you’ve got impressive test scores going for yourself. I’d say you’ve got a strong head start on building your application, and remember that college admissions is holistic in the sense that it’s not only stats that matter, but your essays, letter of recommendations, ECs, etc as well. They want to learn who you are as a person! Best of luck for your future!☺️

try to bring it up to 3.85-3.9 range for high tier schools, but don't sweat it too much your freshman year barely matters
