Amazing Red Velvet Donuts Recipe

- My red velvet donuts have just the right note of chocolate to complement the cream cheese frosting and they are SO MOIST!!! That’s the nice thing about baked donuts, besides not needing to heat up all that oil they really absorb the moisture from the glaze and become melt in your mouth tender.

In the 70s, when I was in my early 20s, I made a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting from scratch for a Christmas office potluck. I used 2 containers of McCormick red food coloring as the recipe called for. All the cake was eaten and everyone told me how good it was - I felt very thankful and proud, as all of the ladies in the office were excellent cooks. Those doughnuts look delicious and the recipe seems easy and your directions, as always, are very clear. Thanks for sharing your bloopers and mistakes; it shows they can happen to anyone.
In the 70's McCormick food coloring was not almost 5 dollars an ounce. Today to spend 10 dollars on food coloring for one cake... not from this lady lol

I made these for my kids breakfast today. They are so good! Very fluffy and tender. I did add like 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda to my batter.

Cupcake donuts would sound amazing. I'm guessing it would basically be a fully-baked cupcake that feels and looks like a donut with a hole in the middle, glazed cream and your favourite toppings.

OMG ,thx for the recipe, I have 2 doughnut baking trays and I couldn't find any good recipe; I will try your recipe , I have a mini doughnut baking tray too ; the silicone mold you can use it to make unbaked cheesecake doughnuts ( cream cheese, sugar,vanilla, whipping cream and gelatin ; you top them with separate baked sugar cookies ( same diameter as cheesecake doughnuts ) when chilled remove them from the silicone mold and top them with chocolate ganache and decorate with fresh berries, thx again
just iced mine. batter was a bit thick (?) but a dash more buttermilk solved it. YUMMMMMMMMMMMMM
