Great video as always Nobby, yes such a jump in car prices. I got a demo model A6 S line back in January 2011. Still going strong with almost 500,000km on it, never had any trouble with it. They really are a great car.

Another great video, love the colour but…. Haptic switches, no thanks, 745 miles (1200km) easily beaten, price, ouch! Just purchased a Skoda Superb SEL tdi, in the uk it’s is over £20k cheaper, has blind spot monitoring and am regularly seeing a range of 850 miles plus! Hope you and those you love have a happy and healthy new year and thank you for all the great videos in 2023.

@@123antimiro hi, I was an Audi fan for years (100 Avant, A1, S1, A3 hatches and saloons, two S3’s and then, last year purchased another, latest model A3 - appalling build quality, awful tech, 8 weeks off the road waiting on repairs so gave up. Quality of the Skoda is definitely better than new Audi’s and it costs less to run, what’s not to like but each to 5heir own. Have a great new year.
yeah skodas and now even kias are very good cars. to sit down blindfolded in superb u wont make a difference with bmw
Great video Nobby, driving a late 212 A6 Avant with approx 150k on the clock. Brilliant car for the mileage I do. Agree on the extras and annoying points. Lack of basic items that are now being sold as add-ons in 24 is miserly. Rear camera, blind spot, electric drivers seat. Etc etc is crazy for the price. One really silly point that drives me crazy is how they built a car where the cup holder cannot fit any known insulated coffee cup.
A run out should be loaded with toys!

No driver assistance compared to my wife’s car so driving it without any bings or bongs is so relaxing. So I Propably would never change up in years

A6 without a diesel would fail miserably here in Germany. There are 5 different diesel versions coming, because the biggest amount of sold A6 are the diesel powered

I own the same model A6 S line. There is no spare wheel, it's a subwoofer that's in the boot. Also the suspension is very stiff even in comfort mode. However they are very easy on fuel.
There is access to the rear if you check inside armrest. i clicked it accidentally and the middle part when arm rest is down goes down to accesss boot.you have to press/click upwards in that gap when armrest is down.
does the gearbox now react well to kickdown, because on the unredesigned (model 6 c8 2019,..20...21......22. model it had a little lag during kickdown..???
Great car. The diesel variants last sold in Australia in late 2019 to early 2020. The oiler is now only a special dealer order. Bit of a pain not being able to try before you buy

Thats quite a difference. More than half of the sold A6 and a bit less A4s in Germany are TDIs
@HUGO-xo2mv in Australia we get both the A4/6 Allroad Tdi variants . But they'll only sell 100-200 a yr combined here
@@Coastmac2001 most units sold are company cars and thats why they are diesel. Good consumption at autobahn speeds
@HUGO-xo2mv depends on where the diesels are sold .in Europe , they are likely to be company vehicles, Australia it tended to be a mix of private sales & sales to Hire Car companies etc .

My 2010 SLine LeMans (3L TDI Quattro) had 410,000km when I changed it. All the electrics worked perfectly and the interior condition certainly didn't reflect that mileage.
The C6 generation face-lift was a great car.
I have a A6 C5 2004 with 511k km. Interior still really good. Leather seats not far from new imo, especially at the back.
The car looks great, except of the wheels. On the rear axle it looks like there is no tire at all. Maybe 20 inch would have been a better choice. Thanks for the video 😊
Early 90’s colours are back. My 1990 Sierra Sapphire was that colour.
I have a A4 B5 from 2000 with Hibicus Red, also not far of.. Needs a bit of polish to look like this thing though. 😂
All those missing bits (rear climate, wireless charging, blind spot monitoring etc) can presumably be specced but the A6 has a lower base than the A7 for example so not really surprising.
The annoying "safety" warnings and pinging would annoy me rapidly though, but that can be disabled through VCDS I bet.
Would be nice to see some of those bits standard for sure

I am no fan of these German ego brands but this is a genuinely elegant and good looking car. A world away from the utter monstrosities that BMW are churning out at the moment.
A6 - Always a great Audi
Just got my A6 and I really forgot about configuration of the blind spot warning "side assist". You cannot beleave it in car priced that much 😂😅
One thing i hate is the digital climate control. The older system in the previous generation a6 was easier to use
After so many huge SUVs, this car looks beautiful….classically elegant. But the price? Argh.
I wanted to buy EV for some 3-4 years but i gived up becase prices are still so high and range bad.
I tested my 2.0 diesel insignia sport tourer at 130 km/h and i drived 1100 km on higway until fuel light comed up so 1200 km on one filling.And it costed like 1/3 off VW ID7 which can go only 300 km at that speed! And now at 230 000 km my range is still the same.
3:33 i dont understand why they doing this edge so high (maybe safety reason) but if they would lover it it would be perfect but because they got this lift area it impossible to load bid objects even though boot is huge .
Great video - the A6 is a great series, but why would anyone buy an Audi without Quattro??!! Especially is a wet climate!
Had A6 50tdi 3 years ago. Have a Porsche now .wish I still had the Audi.

Great looking car , beautiful colour . Outside good . Inside oh dear! Too dark , lighter colours an option I guess , all those screens with idiotic haptic “controls” means I would never consider one . Even if I had more money than sense.
Based on your jacket I can say the reason you are loosing traction is because of the cold weather. You probably have summer tires on and they start to loose grip when temperatures drop below 7 degrees Celsius.
Anything with over 200 Hors power and you're going to get wheel spin from the front tyres just have to live with this it's not the rubber

The VW/Audi group really does have the most stylish design language of any motor manufacturer. It is rare to find any car in any of their marques that doesn't look beautiful without being flashy.

Audi = Volkswagen is more than 16 years behind BMW. My late E60 LCI 2008 520d, now my mother's car, easily make +1300 km. Now 430000 km driven, original engine, gearbox, oil changes always at least max 15 tkm. Long distance driving, after 1000 km, still quarter tank left.
Very good economy, I had one and never saw that sort of distance from a tank
I'm having 2 serious questions:
- Why does somebody in Ireland, where the longest route you can drive is from Mizen Head Signal Station to Malin Head with a length of just 601 km even think about the range of a car and feels the "need" of 1,200 km range for crossing the entire country twice in over 16 hours without a break, without eating, drinking and using the toilet?
- Why does Ireland with a population if just 5 million inhabitants need 9 positions on the license plates while Germany with 83 million inhabitants just needs less than 8 positions on the license plates?

The 1,200 is in reference to what you get for the cost of a tank of fuel. And actually, Ireland is often complimented on an easy to understand reg system. Year, region, reg number.

@@NobbyOnCars Nah, not yet. The old model is on the configurator in the UK, and the dealers say they know nothing about the 2024 facelifted version One salesman said "It may get revamped at the end of 2024, but I wouldn't hold out" 🤔
A diesel engine will never be beat
For distance in one trip, yes. Everything else it gets thrashed though.
Most people don’t care about the low “coupe” seating position: hence the attraction to SUV’s

Only downside one can find is that it is not a RWD like BMW 3 series and onwards making it less driver enthusiastic but it fulfills on the tech department.
Great video, great car. Unfortunately, the TCO of fossil cars is non-competitive. The A6-etron will be a much more attractive vehicle. By TCO but also by "fun to drive".
Would be useful to spend some time discussing the engine. Only mention was 204Hp. One has to assume a 4-pot diesel? So it’ll sound like a Massey Ferguson and a lot noisier than a petrol or EV.

Mine is fitted with 20 inch , looks good but I’d go with 19s for a little more comfort.
If Audi releases the A6 E-tron, will they then surround the ICE mid-sized luxury segment to the E-Class and the 5-Series? That makes no sense.

I can't see the point of a 70k premium segment car with 2.0 engine, the point of that size of car is going for bigger engines 3.0 etc. If you're looking at mileage and savings why not go for smaller car(a4) with the same 2.0 engine that's going to be cheaper to buy run...

My old A6 Quattro blk edition S line new a few years ago was about €60K, I spec it on AUDI and over €70k now. The A6 once on the motorway was a miser on fuel. If I was going back to a diesel it be an A6 straight run to Kerry or Mayo no stopping off for breaks etc.

Add aero and "long leg" gearing to this equation and guess what numbers you will reach, there is no such thing like the range can't be beaten, there will always come cars and motorcycles that can do better economy than this.
Cars are too expensive nowadays, the 60k base model has manual seat adjustment (!)
So this long Golf 8 is 67000? So if you spec it properly it would be a 100000 euro car? Holy cow...

‘Mileage’ - the amount of use, service, or benefit one gets or can get from something. But also used as you’re saying too obviously.
I can do those 1200km range in a 2014 BMW 640d, on my trip to Italy it had a little over 1250km range. So keep it down,
Wow, I owned the coupe version, it was easy on juice relatively but never would’ve got that sort of distance out of a tank. I think low 40s was the norm.
Reviewers should really spend the time to get themselves acquainted with all the options available for a vehicle instead of just taking it and reviewing it since all the features listed as missing, such as ski hatch, electric tailgate and rear climate control are indeed available in the A6 just not on the question it seems to be a really basic trim
So you think a reviewer should not cover the fact that the car doesn’t come with things like climate in the rear or blind spot? I should just skip over that because it’s an optional extra?

I don’t have time in a week to drive 1,200kms but if you do decent range journeys you’ll achieve it easily. Plenty of people in the comments doing similar in other VAG cars.

An inflation of 8% a year on avarage is not all that bad, if you add the corona/pandemic/covid situation to it. In those years sometimes the inflation was double that during many months.

It is a shame Audi hasn't made an EV for their real Audi models (e.g. successors of the 80,100, 200 or A4,A6,A8). Meanwhile Tesla has been making one for 12 years. And VW is wondering where all the sales went lol.

Diesels peaked a long time ago. Not hearing anything this car can do that an a6 from 2011 can’t do. Paying that kind of money for tech from a decade ago is nonsense.
Agree that the tech is a little long in the tooth but I'm not sure about diesel peaking. This video has performed better than nearly all of my EV videos in the same 24 hour period.
That price is insane, 73k... The Germans have gone mad. You could get a 6ish year old top spec Passat, Insignia etc for 10k which will have the same range, comfort and all the top gear without the Bing bongs and drive it for another 10 years. In my opinion this car makes zero sense in Ireland where you can basically get anywhere you want to go in 400km.

Won’t be testing the full tank no. Car gone back weeks. Dropped it back with over 400kms having done almost 600.
Surely with a 1200km range then it should be fitted with a toilet?

I genuinely think this looks awful.
The grill dominates the front end, and not in a good way. The wheels are hideous they look like somebody stole them from a Hyundai.
It's slab sided nothingness just does nothing for me whatsoever.
The rear end is as bland and functional as every other low end saloon.
It's a very good car at just being a sensible, economical, boring family daily driver, but it certainly isn't stylish or desirable.
This has an official mpg of up to 50.4 mpg.
The much better looking BMW 520d, has an official mpg of up to 51.4 mpg.
BMW also finished ahead of Audi in the driver power reliability survey.
So for the massive range you basically never use you have to live with the added drivetrain complexity (running cost) and future low resale value compared to an EV, because you didn´t see the writing on the wall? Sounds like a shitty deal to me.

Got a A6 c7 with bitdi with 400KM certainly not interested in car annoying me that I'm doing x2 speed limit. Watching this movie is such a big turn off. Exterior looks nice apart from exausts but inside it is just like not it.
