    You had to be worn out at the end of this day but what rewards for your hard work. I admire you at your young age at preserving food. Love the way you utilized the picnic basket for storage. Would love to see some recipes using your pie filling. Thanks!

    Boy! That was a full day of hard work! It would be fun to see all the ways you use the apple pie filling, and I really want to see the fi ished apple cider vinegar!

    Your kitchen is so well laid out, but it's a great idea to tidy up as you go. Especially when you have that corner pantry that holds so much. 💖💕 I used to make up meals on the weekend when I worked so I could get the week organized; the week is easier to manage as you say.
    Love watching you use those big glass jars and bowls. We never made ACV apple cider vinegar but that is facinating. Mom made Bread & Butter pickles and cucumber relish, so watching you do this is very nostalgic.
    I'm with you on less additives!
    We used some pearl tapioca on the bottom of some fruit pies to absorb juices.
    Making pickles with tumeric became a family joke when my cousin made some cucumber relish because her husband loved Moms. But she didnt add turmeric, it came out quite gray (blarf), and - he wouldnt eat it.

    Good morning! My kitchen is small and I don't have a lot of counterspace, so I also clean between jobs. I enjoy kitchen work and cooking even though it can be hard work, depending on what you are doing. Looking forward to seeing your dining room remodel. I hope you will share the process as well. Blessings! 💙

    Thank you for the video, I always wondered what else I could do with the apple scraps. I have done apple jelly with them, but thats it.

    I’m so proud of you and all that you do! I really wish I would have learned about canning earlier in life, but my mom nor my grandma were canners. And I am a visual and hands on learner, so the art was sort of lost on me. I would still like to learn but I am almost 60, so, maybe I can learn from watching somebody at church.🤷🏻‍♀️ I really enjoy watching your videos on canning and house transformations.😊

      Awe, thank you so much! ❤️ I'm so thankful my mom taught me. I'm the same way for the first several times I canned with her just so I could learn. Hopefully you can. It is never to late to learn. Thank you!

      It's never too late to learn. Check out your county extension, they usually have classes. I didn't learn to can until I was almost 40 and I'm almost 70 now and can even more than I used to, about 350 jars a year for my husband and I. Now I like to can lots of meals.

    I'm with you on not adding clear jel. I'd also rather thicken it with corn starch or flour after opening. But also it gives you more flexibility, we just eat the apples or put them on yogurt or I open a jar and crush it up for applesauce. Thanks for sharing your Fall day. I just bought apples from the Amish today, I sure miss the two trees at my previous house.

      That is such a good idea! I will be using the pie filling for so many other things now! I cannot wait until we get to plant fruit trees and harvest our own.

    What do you use the apple cider vinegar for that you need so many?

    • @LewisAcresHomestead
      @LewisAcresHomestead  Рік тому

      We use it for canning/pickling and cooking. It will last us a long time but it doesn't go bad so we just put it up and use it as we need it.
