May I just say that I super love how much we can depend on Becky dropping us a new video every other day around 230 pm like clock work! Thank u for ur dedication and hard work Becky!! I appreciate u!
As a child my grandmother and i would can everything. We did things by seasons. I loved going into the store room to get a jar of tomatoes or peaches. I am now a grandma and those memories are still in my heart.
Does anyone else 👍Like👍 Becky’s videos before they even get started? I don’t care what the topic of the day is about, I just love (and look forward to) hanging out with her. Becky, you are such an inspiration to me and I appreciate you more than these short comments can express! Thank you, once again, for being who you are❣️
I watched someone say her grandmother taught her to store all empty jars filled with water in case of emergency you will have drinking water on hand. It can then be emptied into canner when next season rolls around. Tedious, but never goes to waste and may just be a lifesaver! No empty jars for me anymore. Made such perfect sense....
You definitely need to secure those shelves. You can see them bowing in the middle with the weight of your jars. We have these same style shelves and used 2x4's laid along the underneath of the shelves and screws put through the side slats of the shelving unit into the ends of the boards. This makes the shelves extremely solid! If you lay them along the shelf with the 4 inch side, you won't see the boards sticking out underneath the sides. Get a darker screw and it will blend pretty well with the color of your shelves.
You can't fool me, Kiddo ! You did this walk through on film so you can tell/show your husband where the things are that you need while you are recovering from giving birth ! Not the first meals, but a month or so!! Enjoy !
Haha so funny 😂 Becky, the wire shelves in pantry on wall, you could dedicate each wire basket to a meal, so Josh will know this is a taco soup shelf, nachos, pizza, soups etc. 🍲 enjoy your ideas!
I was thinking the same thing about the downstairs .. me: Becky needs a label maker to label all the shelves so she can send Josh or her parents or anyone to do her "shopping" for her while she's spending time with baby!
I was actually thinking the very same thing plus sweet Becky has already made meals in her freezer. Josh will be just fine..I cannot wait for the sweet baby to come.
I think I’d store some of those boxed foods/ pasta and things like that in big plastic totes so bugs or rodents can’t get into it. I’ve ended up doing that in my small kitchen pantry to avoid ants and other pests. It also helped when my kitchen floor got flooded. I didn’t loose any boxed items that were sitting on the pantry floor.
Becky, please please please place some kind of barrier in front of your jars. Something like skinny baseboards or even bungee cords. If you have an earthquake (or even a stray animal) it would be heartbreaking (let alone a huge mess) if they come crashing down. I'm sure Josh can come up with something. 💕
do you all live where there's earthquakes?? I've never experienced one to do more than rumble. I personally don't worry about it and neither did my ancestors.
I just watched Jammerell Stewart can frozen tomatoes. She took the frozen tomatoes out of the freezer, put them in a roaster pan for them to thaw out. The tomato juice comes out of the frozen tomatoes, then you are able to can-(I mean bottle in mason jars) the tomato juice. No effort needed to get the tomato juice out of the tomatoes. Jammerell Stewart is who did the tomato canning that I watched recently.
Becky...please add another to-do to wonderful Josh's list... you live so close to the Mt...and we have suffered many earthquakes here in the PNW...please have him attach your canning shelves to the wall and use something (bungee cords would work) to keep your jars on the shelves...it would be such a huge loss! Love you and praying for a safe, easy delivery!!!
That's a pretty impressive pantry you've built, Becky! Thank you for emphasizing that it took you years to get to that point, though. You are always so considerate of your viewers and that we have a wide range of skill levels. That's the sign of a good teacher! 👍
It's now recommended that all tomatoes be pressure canned because the acidity level varies so much between varieties. Two other caveats: infused oils can be botulism factories and leaving the skins on canned potatoes can harbor disease organisms from the soil they were grown in. Better safe than sorry!
Absolutely LOVED this video. As a 71 year old, you are a joy to watch and listen to. I only wish I had the space for a pantry like that. Living in South Texas, we don't have basements. I, like the others, am super excited for you and Josh on the addition to your family. I pray for a healthy birth. God bless you all.
hi, I love your videos. One hint: I think the wine is supposed to be stored so that the wine is touching the cork to prevent the cork from drying out (dry corks can leak air into the wine which changes the taste) :-)
To make a thick tomato sauce run your tomatoes through your squeezo machine. Place a colander over a bowl. Line colander with several layers of cheesecloth. Pour the tomatoes into the colander and leave over night. You will wind up with a very thick tomato puree which does not have to be cooked to death to thicken up. You will also have all the liquid to use as a soup base. You can also use the tomato liquid to thin the puree if necessary.
I second this! I do it for my yoghurt so i end up with a nice thick cream cheese like yoghurt i can use for cheesecake and carrot cake type icing and the whey ends up being amazing for homemade soups and juices and even plain as a probiotic you drink when you take your morning vitamins! Its good for whipping luke foam too on top of tea or coffee etc if you dont take milk products in your drink but like the foam experience.
I do THIS to make my tomato paste that I freeze. I just toss it in a sauce pan and bring to a boil for just like 5-6 minutes then I will can it in 1/2 pint jars. I do NOT eat ketchup nor does my family so we make a LOT of bbq sauceand this paste like base is perfect! This is a very valuable tip for people who do not know this trick. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Becky, We freeze our leftover stock as a full carton isn’t always needed. We do it in ice cube trays, as this makes it easier to get the amount that we need for particular dishes out. Depending upon what you’re cooking, you can add frozen cubes straight into the dish or pan. Thanks for the videos.
Hahaha. I bought a pressure canner and it stayed in the box for a year. Then I took it out of the box and it sat for 2 weeks. Then I read the instruction book and freaked out. I started watching you tube videos and realized how easy it is. I love it!
BECKY!!! FREEZE DRYER TIP! Take your freeze dried tomatoes and blend them to a powder. You can then add a tiny bit of water to make tomato paste, or a little more water to make tomato sauce, or a lot more water to make tomato juice! Its great!!!!! I got really tired putting up tomato sauce AND I just got my freeze dryer so I did batches and batches of sliced tomatoes and then just powdered them! AND the best ever are the orange sun-gold cherry tomatoes. I roast those with a tiny bit of salt, pepper and oregano, then puree them. It tastes just like bisque!
Yay!! You finally got it all together before baby arrives!! Your the busiest women I’ve ever known with a lot of energy even being pregnant at what?…..36 weeks? Good for you Becky as this will not only help with you in the early months after baby, but with the assistance of Mom’s and Dad’s too!! It’s beautifully organized, so pretty and I know it’s rewarding for you to get that done. You’ve mentioned this many times before how you’ve been wanting to organize your “store”….how wonderful for you!!
@@HealedandThriving Yes, I think so. By my math, she may be delivering at this very moment or soon, lol! (As if any baby comes exactly on time). I can't wait to hear good news!!!
I have the feeling she already had her baby and this is a prerecorded video. But anyways I do appreciate her dedication God bless her and her family ❤❤
Add your coleslaw to crockpot with 5 chopped onion, whole chicken and a very generous amount of paprika for a Polish Paprikash. It will blend the flavors you don't like with the savory chicken and onion in a complementary way! Make sure to cover with chicken broth and remove bones once cooked. Serve over your homemade noodles.
Becky: Are you curing olives yet. They’re very easy to cure, just a tub of very salty water for about 2 months. When I can them I add various flavors: garlic, lemon slices or wedges, mild to hot peppers etc. I boil the canning liquid, but don’t process them…not required & makes them mushy. Put on the cover & rings. Super delicious and wonderful gifts.
❤HUGE RECOMMENDATION FOR ALL PANTRIES IN THE PNW AND BEYOND!!❤ I love having a store in my house too! You have a great system. My heartfelt recommendation is to earthquake proof your pantry. Even a small tremor will have jars dancing off the shelves! We just took wooden slats and drilled holes in each end. We then ran a zip tie through the hole and around the shelving uprights. I would do it on the sides too. I live in Washington too Becky and so I know that we are waiting for the "big one". The subduction zone fault line is within miles of me and not far from you either!
I live in the San Joaquin valley of CA…between the White Wolf and the San Andreas fault lines. Your shelves are a thing of beauty, but I get anxious seeing the jars so close to the edge, with no protective guard rails! Yes, the PNW is earthquake country, too. Please protect all your hard work! ♥️ Praying for your upcoming delivery. Can’t wait!!!
Becky - can I make a suggestion… a cookbook (even just an e-book) of Becky’s “favorite things” recipes all in one place. And definitely include the recipe for the enchilada sauce. That was such a pure moment. I almost had to avert my eyes. ❤
Oh yes that would be brilliant. I'm always meaning to write down some of her recipes but never do. I'm assuming the enchilada sauce is in 1 of her videos? Have never tasted it before but would love to try it
We are all keeping you in our hearts and minds! You are such a kind and thoughtful person, know that we all benefit from you sending your positive and kind energy out into the world. Your child is so fortunate to be born into such a wonderful family! It is amazing that you have the energy to make vids at this season in your life! Thank you so much!❤❤❤
Becky I made the same mistake with canned coleslaw... Make Mo Sho Chicken. Drain your jar and rinse your cabbage strain, put into saute pan (oil or butter) add onion, mushrooms ( I use my canned goods) chicken, garlic, ginger and sesame oil or oyster sauce... Sure helps empty those jars! Keep stacking that pantry!!! Right there with you! Love from WA!!!
I bought the presto electric canner after hearing how much you love it, now I love it too. No more baby sitting the pot. I haven't canned for years but after watching your videos I jumped back in and 'm enjoying it so much. I love the sense of food security, and stabilized prices. Thank you for all you do and share. I'm keeping you and the baby in my prayers.I think you'll be a great mom.
You're doing great! I canned everything. We had 9 kids!!! I always canned my pie fillings as well as all kinds of fruit from peach, apple, rhubarb, and all kinds of every berry fillings. They are a life saver for me.
Becky, because of you I'm getting an electric pressure canner for christmas and I can't wait to start canning up my own broths and stocks and meat that I usually fill up my freezers with. Thank you for convincing me that it's easy and safe!
I got mine a couple years ago and you’ll love it! My husband loves seeing food being preserved too. We just did up sweet potatoes that were on sale .19 lb. I love love love mine. Easiest thing to can is stew meat, just load the jar with raw meat and process.
I just watched 1 of your videos from a year ago and realized, you have gained 350,000 more subscribers in 1 year! Wowzers! That's absolutely amazing and should show you how much we truly enjoy watching your videos. Way to go. Can't wait to watch the number increase in 2023 plus with a baby. Your amazing hands down.
Getting all the warm fuzzy feels watching Becky go through her grocery store and saying "We did this together", "if you were with me when we made this" etc....
SHELF SAGGING is a problem i had as well. I solved it by taking 3 of the 6 wooden shelfs and doubling them up with the 3 other shelves. The 3 open spaces were filled with 3/4 inch plywood pieces i picked up from Home Depot, already cut to size. Problem solved with out buying or making all-new units. Love the channel, hope this helps.
Your pantry looks amazing! That’s a lot of work girl, you should be proud of yourself. One thing my mother taught me growing up, always always can as much as you can of a product. Because, like you said this year might be a great year for peppers and next year might not. So harvest as much as you can and preserve as much as you can in that year. Then, if you have two years in a row or your pepper harvest has been amazing you can try the new recipes that you’re always searching for and saving. A couple suggestions, I don’t have the recipe handy, so I can’t tell you exact measurements. However, you’re an experience canner, at this point you’ll figure it out. I used to make a peach salsa that is to die for. It was a peach and tomato-based salsa. I don’t recall if I substituted or I added in the Adobe peppers and sauce in the can. I think I added it in because Im pretty certain I adjusted the vinegar to accommodate it. It is amazing, the flavor, that is added is incredible. I would imagine, adding those peppers to your ketchup recipe this year will add great flavor as well. The only other thing I can suggest to you, is to get a nice, very nice bound notebook. Not a spiral notebook. Something that has a nice cover, thick and is bound. Actually buy several because you need to take these with you to your moms and have her write down her recipes in that book. And she needs to hand write this. She may need to hand write several, depending on how big your family is. Trust me when I say, that this will be treasured in your family. I have two of my grandmothers cookbooks, where she has hand written notes in the margins. There are several handwritten recipes, stuck in the cookbooks. I treasure it! It’s been 30+ years since my grandmother passed away, and I can’t hear her voice in my head anymore. But I have her handwriting and I have her recipes. My mom is in her late 70s, and this is not a bad thing when I say it but the grand daughters are already claiming her cookbooks. And the one that is going to cause the biggest uproar will be her hand written cookbook. grab yourself some of those books as well, and as you get a recipe that you truly love, that would be a staple right in that book. One day, that will be a treasure as well. Write your notes in the margins make a Little Notes about your kids and the food that you’re making. If it’s their favorite, if they hated it, or possibly what was going on in the garden at that time. Maybe it was a bad year maybe the bugs were crazy bad or maybe it was a cooler summer than normal or hotter summer than normal. Put those notes in there you won’t regret it. I picked up my books at Marshall’s-TJ, Maxx and HomeGoods. Happy, Canning, Season!
I'm sure you've already tried it, but to use up the spaghetti sauce that is a little strongly spiced, just make a batch with one jar sauce and one jar plain crushed tomato. The extra herbs will help balance the unseasoned sauce and then you can adjust it only by a bit of salt and anything that may be missing once they're mixed. Normally that might not work for two people, but since you like to make large batches and have leftovers, it should work!
Once people discover the sheer convenience and affordability of a well built pantry they will love it. It was thought to be a way of life gone by but so functional for our modern lives for both young and older. There are many canning projects that can be done over the winter especially canning deals. I live fairly rural and our food store is a distance away and expensive. Being able to run downstairs and grab everything I need is such a blessing. No fighting the crowds in the stores or running out in bad weather. It makes me sad to see so many tomatoes and apples hanging on the plants at the end of a season not being preserved. You are so right about home made enchilada sauce! No comparison to the store bought. I got sooo many tomatillos this year and processed all of them.
Hi Becky, I just wanted to share with you what I just made. I made cinnamon rolls and put a dollop of my homemade cranberry sauce on each roll before I baked them. I then baked them and put on a rack to cool and then added the icing. Oh boy were those ever good! It was a great way to use leftover cranberry sauce (or if you have canned cranberry sauce in your pantry) you could also use a dollop of fig jam or any other kind of jam you have. Trust me, it will wake up your taste buds and is wonderful with morning coffee or as a snack. 😊
Becky, you are such an amazing inspiration to so many people! I love and enjoy your videos so much. I’m loving the evolution as you grow, your family grows, your life grows, your garden grows, and of course we can’t forget your chickens! I personally wanted to say congratulations, and I know you will be the most amazing mom, because you are a truly amazing person, even to us strangers! ❤
Becky, I also was not a fan of coleslaw or pickled cabbage in a jar, I rinse mine and have been making eggroll bowls with the rinsed cabbage/carrots, ground meat, onions, ginger and garlic with soy sauce and sesame oil. Really good.
We like the commercial kitchen metal shelving from Sams or Costco. They are a bit pricey and you still have to add shelf covers, but you can also get ones that have wheels for easy re-arranging 🙂 I suggest you buy an extra rack for the shelving for every 2-3 full racks. That way you can put the shelves closer together 🙂and use less floor space. I speak from experience.
Becky, how do you stay so motivated? I would love to get as much done as you, but it’s hard to stay productive and avoid depression, especially during the winter. You’re truly an inspiration.
what you need to do is treat each day as if its your last day on the planet.i dont get depressed but i have friends that do so plan each day in advance keep on the go all day you will feel satisfied you have, achieved so much you will always sleep well life will then feel so different for you it becomes exciting.xx
Staying busy helps me in the winter. I also struggle with depression. Running helps me a lot. But if you're already depressed could you start something? For a few minutes, set a timer. It can be really hard but little steps. Writing things down so you can cross them off might help.
Ironically, i found when depressed- if i make myself do something like making batches of sauce, cleaning a room each day or weeding in the garden (something that i can see the progress of at the end) boosts my mood as i can see what ive done, feel accomplished and it motivates me to do more. I dont always enjoy it in the moment and its hard to keep going but i always appreciate it afterwards.
Love seeing your grocery store. We’re moving so emptied 2 freezers of chicken. Canned up 8 cases of quart jars of chicken plus its broth. Didn’t know I had that much organic chicken! Costs the same to move full or empty jars. Next is canning beef, pork & fish. Getting a freeze dryer once moved. 👍
Just an FYI: You will need to peel your potatoes before canning. There are no safe tested recipes for canning potatoes with the skins on. Removing the skins by peeling potatoes reduces the amount of bacteria on the potato.
I have been canning since 1973 but I love watching these pantry canned good videoes . I still receive new ideas from younger women and men who love canning. You have done a fabulous job and are growing. Also these videoes inspire others to can. I still try to learn new things every year, This year I made chocolate syrup.
You speak my language girl! I bought shelving similar to yours so I could get everything in order and can see what I have in ONE place. Living in a small home it was in nooks and crannies. Now, I feel so organized. I hope you inspire thousands to do what we do, especially in these times.
Totally agree! Last year our pear trees did amazingly. I canned over 400 pounds. This year, all the blossoms got frozen, and we won’t get a single one. Can them when you can!
Becky, I had a thought. If you found your spaghetti sauce to be too heavy with the herbs you can combine one jar of that spaghetti sauce with a jar of your Tomatoes or ready-made sauce with onions and garlic and kind of "dilute" it. Maybe when you're making a big batch cooking day and need a lot of sauce.
So enormously impressed by what you have done here! I love watching your videos because it really IS like being with a real friend. Laughing, spilling, mishaps, experimenting, relishing the flavor and accomplished dish. Just so genuine and also...I can see how your channel has increased so much!
When I over herb my marinara I just add more crushed or diced tomatoes to thin that out and add in some more onion/garlic powder. Might help your marinara to do that but it will obviously be lots more sauce. Love that I have gotten to see you can so much! It is amazing to see just how much it actually is on the shelf!
Here's another idea or two for your homemade grocery store chow chow. It's cabbage, peppers, onions, seasonings (can't remember all of the seasonings right now). The other idea was a product we buy in NC called Veg-All®. There is a style that's vegetable soup size and one that's stew size.
@@sunnyday_lemonbars My grandma made it. Sometimes I got to help, after I got older I wish I had written down her recipe. I would love to know how your mother-in-law makes it.
A tip for your broth. For those who choose to freeze it typical broth can take up a lot of space. If you concentrate your broth it takes up far less space. My broth is concentrated 6 to 10 times. Because it's frozen I can take a tablespoon or two and add to a quick stir fry and not have to open an entire jar.
I'm assuming you just cook the broth longer to evaporate more of the liquid...does it still freeze solid? Or is it more paste like similar to better than bouillon? Thanks for the tip, I will likely try that!
The baby will love the applesauce too. My daughter does blueberry applesauce and other varieties. She also cans lots of pears and peaches and figs. She has 7 kids from11 down to 6 months. They rave about their mamas canned goods. It’s so sweet
Anyone else notice that the time-line of Becky's videos aren't lining up and they're all before Thanksgiving? Congrats Becky and Josh I have a feeling that your new little one is here!
Hi. Thank you so much for sharing your pantry and hard work. It is really helpful to see what can be done with determination in your garden and then in your kitchen. This is such a blessing and a peace of mind, you can have after such work, that you can provide for your family and to others as gifts. Thank you also for your encouragement for pressure canning. I have yet to pressure can, and hope to add that to my skills. Thank you for encouraging others not to be worried about it. I think it helps to have that encouragement and a good guide book along the way. Thank you also for the very helpful tips with how you use your items, and insight along the way. Many blessing to you and your family, and what you do for others. ❤
A few years ago I told my grand kids we are going down stairs to the grocery. They said "what!!??" And they loved it. They always ask me questions about it.
❤Girl your channel has changed the way I cook for my family!! Family of 3 adults living together. I’m on disability and seeing someone not cooking for 10 people at a time really changed my make ahead game. It also saves dinner regularly when the main cook (me) is having a non good day. Congratulations on baby!!! Can wait to see you new garden come together.
Becky, we are covering you and baby in prayer. God will keep you in his perfect peace and surround you with Angels for you to feel the outpouring of Love and Prayers coming from your community 🙏💜✝️
Growing, preserving, and being self sufficient is so wonderful and satisfying. In years past it was commonplace, and now it’s a niche community. It’s almost as if we’re displaced by time. Glad to see traditional living is making a comeback.
Took me all day to get here, started working at 5am (thankfully your dad and mom had a very early video) and got done with my actual job about an hour ago which is now 8pm, ate dinner and settling in with a video from you
Don’t you just love having your own grocery store? It is a rare occasion when I need the regular grocery store-it is usually when I am craving something!
I love watching you vids! I am awfully jealous of families that can manage to do all this work & storage in your homes! I don't have the space, materials or resources & I'm renting a duplex.
Hey Becky, just wanted to say how much I enjoy and learn from your videos. I’m in my sixties and have always cooked , brewed and preserved food. I’ve only recently started pressure canning and I’m glad to say it’s growing in popularity here in the UK. We still rely on the knowledge of all you canning friends over the pond, so a big thank you. I must also say how amazing you are looking considering how far you are into your pregnancy. Huge hugs from across the Atlantic. Ros x
In my 60s and just learned to pressure can, even though I always had a moderate interest. Dehydrating and fermenting, too. It is fulfilling, isn't it? I have heard that canning supplies are difficult to source and are expensive in the UK, is that so? Best wishes and God bless from North Carolina, USA. 🙂
@@micheleyates3625 hi Michelle, yes it’s true canning supplies are expensive here. I’m hoping that as popularity grows it will become easier to source what we need. Over here lots of us use lug lidded jars successfully to can, much cheaper and easier to get. You’re right, it’s so satisfying to learn something new in later life. I’ve discovered the joy of making kombucha recently, adding a few frozen cranberries for the second ferment, delicious. Have a lovely Christmas and happy canning. X
First off, I love your videos and appreciate your willingness to share your life and experiences. On to the reason for commenting, I know you have chickens and will give them scraps as treats and extra food. I have chickens too and do the same. Honestly I keep a bucket in the freezer and fill it will stuff and give it to them when it’s full. Anyway you could give the chickens a jar of the slaw every week or so. Then you wouldn’t be wasting it. You would just be transforming it into some great eggs and helping to lower your feed cost. And I have observed how fond you guys are of your birds, I’m sure they would love the treats. I’m not sure about your chickens but mine do get less scraps over the winter so they appreciate each one.
Hey Becky…love your platform and have been watching for two years. First time commenting. That coleslaw pickle. Use it in a cabbage hamburger soup…we call it “autumn soup.” Or strain it and use it in a sour version of lazyman cabbage rolls. Yum!
Had to catch up on the last two videos so this is hour three of Acre Homestead for me today 😅 Praying for an easy delivery and a healthy baby for Becky and Josh! I’m due in a couple months as well 😊
From California! 1:39 AM. Yes, spending the middle of the night with you - thank you, thank you for being there when my husband snores! You're such a dear to keep putting up new videos constantly! But how in the world? Please go take a nap! Love you! ❤🙏❤🙏❤ Beth
Well done Becky, this is one of your best informative videos yet in my opinion. Absolutely incredible explanation on not just what you’ve preserved but how to use it. Thank you for taking the time to put this video together, you’re amazing!
I had done that for years. But as children moved out and away so am just getting back into persevering again. I appreciate your time and your preparations. I command you for your work. 😊
I love that more people are canning/preserving foods. It is a lost art. I can each year all I can because some years are better than others with produce and I don't want to run out. I always share extra with family and friends. It is an amazing feeling to be able to share.
I never made my own broth till recently and honestly it is soooo much better than anything I have ever bought in the store. When I make my own I do it with whole chickens because I shread the meat and use it in other recipes and when you do that you also get a layer of rendered fat that floats to the top and hardens which is litterally sooo good to cook with and adds soooo much flavor to dishes.
I'm going to start canning meats . I Love how you have everything set up for ease of use and able to find a easy fast meal. I'm happy to have my freezer meals right now. I'm 2 weeks postop surgery for 2 herniated disc and the freezer meals have been so awesome to have. I'm 52 but have learned so much from you and I admire someone your age doing all the canning and preserving that you do.
I have learned so, so much from your canning and cooking experiences and trials. Whether I ever home can here in the Arctic is questionable, but I love to see what you AND your peeps comment on. Thank you for your content and all the experienced viewers who comment. It is muchly appreciated. :)
Ohmyword!!! How do you manage there. Come on down here and warm your nose and toes for a bit. My house is a wreck, (quite literally...) but I'm sure one of us would take you in! Best wishes, dear. ❤🙏❤🙏❤ Beth
Beautiful pantry, your supply is phenomenal. One suggestion, if your wines have corks, you need to store them on their sides so you don’t dry out your corks. Those dry corks are a booger to remove when they break into pieces.
I love it ! I also buy in bulk organic. We do not know what will come, so I prefer to be responsible for us and to be prepaired. Lots of love for the big day to come for you and your family from Germany
Becky- I look at your beautiful home canned pantry and worry….What about earthquakes? We lived in SEA during the big ones there 🎉so know it can happen. Josh has probably anchored the racks down, but personally I’d want at least chicken wire doors on each section. Living in AK now we just take “shaker security” as a part of everyday planning.
Wonder why you did not take some slips from your rhubarb or even your blueberries? For your new home, you could have put them in big pots before putting your home on the market. That is sad to leave all that wonderfulness behind. I know, my parents had a grape arbor, all types of fruit trees, berries, gorgeous flower beds(spring bulbs galore), roses! My Mom and I worked hard to ready many varieties to take with us to our home(which was my Dad's childhood two family home, that was so surreal and lovely for my Dad especially).
Thank you for sharing and for the disclaimers about slowly getting started. It’s so nice to see someone establish their own food security but can be daunting for those of us newbies with limited space. ❤
You are truly blessed to have land that you can grow your own produce on. I don't think people realize how really bless they are to have the ability to do this. I have a very small backyard in the middle of town and my husband refuses to let me fence it in to put a garden. This year we did some small vegetable boxes but it is not enough to actually produce enough to can for my family of five.
You should be storing your wine on it's side for long storage! Love your videos! You've inspired me to start gardening again and gotten me thinking about preserving!!
This is beautiful! All your own stuff! I am starting a pantry but I started with canned dehydrated goods from Amazon so I always had veggies and fruits when I couldn't get them fresh. Now it's mutated into an obsession. I have ones I use and ones I'm storing for later use. They last upwards of 50 years sealed
You inspire me to organize my food storage room. You are a joy to watch, watching your videos is the highlight of the evening. You are always pleasant, happy, considerate and really care about everything and everyone around you. Merry Christmas and lots of luck with the last weeks of your pregnancy. Lotts of love from me in Norway
Hey Becky, I have the same shelving unit. Also had the sagging issue. My husband cut 1 by 1’s to the width of the shelving unit. He placed 2 per shelf. He used screws through the metal to secure the 1by 1’s. It gave the needed support to hold the jars. The warping without the support will continue to get worse. I hope you understand what I was trying to convey.
Pantry looks amazing, don't worry about the shelves, u can always and some wood in the middle for support whilst you settle in and work through a permanent structure

@Acre Homestead Thanks for thinking of this for us!!
You should make cowboy candy bbq sauce. So good. With the extra brine.

Thank you for your hard work. May I ask where you put the list for local food source connections please.
Do you have a link for the electric pressure canner? Is it presto?
May I just say that I super love how much we can depend on Becky dropping us a new video every other day around 230 pm like clock work! Thank u for ur dedication and hard work Becky!! I appreciate u!
She is awesome!!!

Thank you, once again, for being who you are❣️
I always like videos before watching, just to help support fellow creators. Doesnt make a difference what the topic is. If Im subscribed; I like.
Yes, she is one of the homestead videos I look forward to watch.
Absolutely! Blessings to, Becky!
Yes, its been like that for me.
😊 Every time! I love her vids, don't know how she does it all... but I hope she gives herself a break after baby arrives & slows down a bit.
Just a thought, Becky! You should start to put together your favourite recipes for an Acre Homestead Cookbook. I think they would fly off the shelves!
Yes! I would buy one!
I'd buy it!
Omg yes please!
Yes! I want the enchilada sauce and salsa verde recipes!
Omg yes
I watched someone say her grandmother taught her to store all empty jars filled with water in case of emergency you will have drinking water on hand. It can then be emptied into canner when next season rolls around. Tedious, but never goes to waste and may just be a lifesaver! No empty jars for me anymore. Made such perfect sense....
Wow. That's an excellent idea.
Love this!!! I will be doing this. Someone gifted me some older jars.
If you sterilize the jar and can them they will keep for years. If my canner is not completely full I add jars of water so I always run it full.
Awesome idea!
Brilliant!
May i ask where you sourced the shelves from? I’m looking for these myself. Ty
@@Lichinha87 I believe that she said in the video that she got them from Home Depot.
@@Sypherz thank you! I must’ve missed that ty for helping.
You can't fool me, Kiddo !
You did this walk through on film so you can tell/show your husband where the things are that you need while you are recovering from giving birth !
Not the first meals, but a month or so!!
Enjoy !
Nice observation! Great thinking Mama!
🤣🤣🤣❤️
Haha so funny 😂
Becky, the wire shelves in pantry on wall, you could dedicate each wire basket to a meal, so Josh will know this is a taco soup shelf, nachos, pizza, soups etc.
Great idea
Front and back would help us all feel better at home ;)
do you all live where there's earthquakes?? I've never experienced one to do more than rumble. I personally don't worry about it and neither did my ancestors.
Also why are you double stacking?? It put pressure on the jar below. to much work into canning. You have the space
I agree. I've mentioned this several times and will probably do it again today.
Your home grown grocery storage is beautiful. You're such a smart young lady. Your child is going to be blessed to have you and Josh as there parents.
Anyone else feeling like this video is like Becky taking a victory lap with us to savor how much she has accomplished?
And a well deserved lap if I may say so!!! Lol!
I feel like she's uploading pre recorded clips because she's had the baby and is taking time
@@daphnepoat4276 she said she would be doing that.
You love to see it!🥳
💯
That's a pretty impressive pantry you've built, Becky! Thank you for emphasizing that it took you years to get to that point, though. You are always so considerate of your viewers and that we have a wide range of skill levels. That's the sign of a good teacher! 👍
I just love everything about this lady . So genuine and hard working . Lovely lovely person
Wow this is very informative. I wonder if you could also do it this way to make tomato paste.
I sometimes reduce the liquid in a big frying pan at a fast boil and add it then to the sauce.
Thank you!!!
Hi Becky,
We freeze our leftover stock as a full carton isn’t always needed.
She does. I believe she freeze dries the pulp left after putting the tomatoes through the food mill. Didn't she thicken her ketchup with it?
What a great idea! I will definitely be doing that!
She was 38 weeks the week of Thanksgiving I think! She has so much energy!
She's 38 weeks or more now. :)
@@HomeandFamilyTalk Yeah I've been wondering lol.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Standing ovation for Becky! 😊
An example, to fresh food growth, farming, etc etc etc.
❤HUGE RECOMMENDATION FOR ALL PANTRIES IN THE PNW AND BEYOND!!❤
I love having a store in my house too!
A simple, easy way to safeguard such a bountiful "grocery store".
Praying for your upcoming delivery.
Have never tasted it before but would love to try it
Yes yes yes or a compiled printable. I'd totally pay for it either way.
@@Iamhome365Yes, she has a video where she makes it!

It is amazing that you have the energy to make vids at this season in your life! Thank you so much!❤❤❤
What a beautiful message! You said what I believe all of us that watch Becky's videos feel! Such beautiful sentiment! Thank you for sharing!
So true
Becky I made the same mistake with canned coleslaw... Make Mo Sho Chicken. Drain your jar and rinse your cabbage strain, put into saute pan (oil or butter) add onion, mushrooms ( I use my canned goods) chicken, garlic, ginger and sesame oil or oyster sauce... Sure helps empty those jars! Keep stacking that pantry!!! Right there with you! Love from WA!!!
I bought the presto electric canner after hearing how much you love it, now I love it too. No more baby sitting the pot. I haven't canned for years but after watching your videos I jumped back in
and 'm enjoying it so much.
Yea!!! I bought a regular pressure canner and it’s still sitting on the floor of my kitchen entry because I’m still scared. LOL
Me too! Mine will arrive in about a week. Im going to really empty my meat freezer.
I want one too but saving up cause it’s a bit spensive.
Me too! I just got mine last week can't wait to try it.
Becky, you can add strength to those shelves with plywood. Just cut plywood to size and place it atop the existing wood.
Sounds delicious...what a wonderful idea!! I love cranberries! :P
Yumm!!!!
Sounds delicious!!
Pickled onions are fantasic on sandwiched and greek dishish.
Here’s a suggestion for your pickled coleslaw, open, drain and rinse then add to browned sausage for egg role in a bowl, it’s very tasty that way.
If you have SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) look into getting a light box or full spectrum light bulbs. It can help immensely.
I'm not always productive. Trust me I have very hard days where I sit in bed and do nothing but I just don't film that.....
Love pineapple salsa plus cabbage salsa. Josh might like those as they aren’t too spicy.
I can because #1 TASTE, next I can control any chemicals we consume, then cost.
Becky has previously said that she does just that.
Here's another idea or two for your homemade grocery store chow chow. It's cabbage, peppers, onions, seasonings (can't remember all of the seasonings right now). The other idea was a product we buy in NC called Veg-All®. There is a style that's vegetable soup size and one that's stew size.
my mother in law is from Trinidad and makes us chow chow. so good!

For your shelf bowing issue, just replace the particle board with 3/4" plywood and you should have no issue with the shelves holding the weight.
Yes, I agree that I appreciate Becky's faithfulness, and she always has good videos to watch!!
Becky, darlin', you are making me crave your pantry items! Where is your canning book? Becky's Best! Great title, eh?
You could also add those chalk board labels to the shelves. It would look so cute and organized 😁
Thank you and same to you.🙂
First off, I love your videos and appreciate your willingness to share your life and experiences.
Pregnancy really does suit you Becky. You look amazing😍.
Hey Becky…love your platform and have been watching for two years. First time commenting. That coleslaw pickle. Use it in a cabbage hamburger soup…we call it “autumn soup.” Or strain it and use it in a sour version of lazyman cabbage rolls. Yum!
Becky, If you still own the other property, dig up a piece of the rhubarb root, it's mature and you can harvest the first year.
Had to catch up on the last two videos so this is hour three of Acre Homestead for me today 😅
Praying for an easy delivery and a healthy baby for Becky and Josh! I’m due in a couple months as well 😊
Congratulations.
Congratulations !!! Prayers for an easy delivery with a healthy baby for you. Congratulations again
From California! 1:39 AM. Yes, spending the middle of the night with you - thank you, thank you for being there when my husband snores! You're such a dear to keep putting up new videos constantly! But how in the world? Please go take a nap!
Love you!

Beautiful pantry, your supply is phenomenal. One suggestion, if your wines have corks, you need to store them on their sides so you don’t dry out your corks. Those dry corks are a booger to remove when they break into pieces.
Thank you....I didn't know about storing corcked wines on their sides. I will now!
I'm a new canner. I was scared to pressure can, and I'm so glad I did. Now I prefer it to waterbathing. Love your stock pile. This is impressive
It's our favorite Becky again. Keep trudging forward Becky. Can't wait till my food storage room look likes that.
I would love to buy a cookbook with canning instructions from you someday
