I've obviously been awake way too long and it's time to go to bed because right now I am hallucinating New Order playing Regret on a beach with David Hasselhoff in vivid colour. It's fucking intense
Nathan Parsons of course you can, I can do it too So? You got to remember the evolution of a band, remember The Cure, even David Bowie, if a band were dark and serious all the time would be boring, always acting the same way, New Order is almost the natural evolution of Joy Division, everything is in it. The only thing is that most of the minds have that serious and dark memory of Ian because we never saw him in other form we never saw him relax and mature. As a joke your comment works great.
Diggarci i'm not suggesting they should've kept on doing dark gothic stuff, its admirable that they found their own style and were so successful. Ian Curtis surrounded by beach babes is an image i can't get out of my mind though...
This single is arguably the most 90s alternative indie-rock flavor that came out from New Order, conpared to their usual electro-synthpop hits. Also the 90s melancholy just hit me like a brick.
I remember seeing this on TOTP on the broadcast night and thinking "Is this for real, or are they having us on about it being live?" Great song, by the way.
I remember watching this live on Top of the pops summer 93. I was 17 and madly in love this the most beautiful girl in my school! I “regret” never telling her how I felt. Perfect song for bringing back the memories of what could have been.
This song has been stuck in my head for five years. I had fallen asleep one night listening to Coast to Coast am. As they came back from break, this song awoke me from a deep sleep & it's been in my head ever since. I finally found it was performed by New Order. Now I can buy the album/CD.
I'm also here because I heard this on Coast to Coast last night. I've heard this song before but it got stuck in my head from hearing it when I was half asleep listening to Coast to Coast.
Hooky looking serious and rocking out as this lunacy goes on around him is hilarious. He looks like he'd pop that volleyball if it landed near him, or at least boot it into the ocean.
Now that I am getting old, all I see looking at Peter Hook play is, this guy must have totally ruined his back playing his bass dangling around knee-level.
Linda!

Lol, just look like they've been teleported from London wearing their long-sleeved shirts in the middle of bikini beach babes.
Hooky must have needed help getting those leather trousers off after performing in that climate 😂
@@SynGirl32 "Look,just pretend you're back on ibiza doing E's." :).
Geez, and I'm here. What kind of crazy rabbit hole 😂
I'm going to print that quote and put it on a tshirt 😅
I'm trying to imagine Ian Curtis doing his mad robot dance on a Malibu beach.

Lol
Now I'm crying. Thanks!
It wasn’t a mad robot dance , it was art
The beginning riff is like a time machine..
takes me back to 2004 when i probably started remembering things.
Always makes me think of 90s football. Premier league years.
Best song ever, will play at my funeral. Love this video too!
Maybe not my funeral, but it will be played at my repast, and that will be a blast.
Good choice

well, New Order came out of Joy Division, which was as indie as indie can get.
One of the best songs ever created! Pure perfection!
I remember seeing this on TOTP on the broadcast night and thinking "Is this for real, or are they having us on about it being live?" Great song, by the way.
I would pay money to watch the outtakes from this video shoot.
Trust me they are hilarious!!! Especially when the Hoff gets involved lol!!!
Love new order. When this came out i loved it. But as i get older it resonates more and more. Its become my got to New order track.
I remember watching this live on Top of the pops summer 93. I was 17 and madly in love this the most beautiful girl in my school! I “regret” never telling her how I felt. Perfect song for bringing back the memories of what could have been.
We all have regrets man. Whoever says they don't is lying

No regurts
Lol. No ragrets
She probably wouldve rejected you . Woman need you to be complicated lol
Could *have* been.
Bloody brilliant and I'm 74, stunning song
P.S. Hokey is hilarious in this video. Playing to his own tune. My kind of guy.
I think this song is the last official Song of The 80's. Eventhough it was sung in 93. Music changed after this hit.
the early 1990's still have a vibe and spirit of the 1980's
Spot on Jason
Great song wonderful

Wow that's crazy Tom just played this song after the break on Tuesdays show!!! I love C2C am 😊

My favourite song ever! I appreciate the brightness as opposed to my contemporaries. The song could be either or...
My favourite all time song ❤️ Every time I hear it, that riff runs through my soul. Amazing!
100%❤️
Snap
Hooky giving it beans in his leather kecks in that weather...Respect!
Dude this is my favorite comment on this thread so far!!!!

@@daveyhando9536 fuck off.. who are you to tell a person what they can like, so who's the twat?
Now that I am getting old, all I see looking at Peter Hook play is, this guy must have totally ruined his back playing his bass dangling around knee-level.
I remember watching this on TOTP and in awe of the "live feed" to the Baywatch beach.
Ditto.. defo sticks in the mind .. I remember that totp too
Who's listening in 2024?
Everyone! 💙
Their bass player was literally pulling off that same flangered bass 🔥solo shtick, that made also "The Cure" famous.
Peter hook
This seemingly bizarre setting actually fits with the cover of the Republic album 🤔
Pure madness, as surreal as it gets.
Watched the debut of this on tv… great song
2023 and still love this music ❤️
The best from This band..
what fever dream is this?
I was just there on that road a few weeks ago by Malibu. Very beautiful beach and ocean. "Republic" is a great album. Love the CA theme.
Such a great track.peter hook is an amazing bassist.loved this era of my life when this song was released.
Best band of all time (and joy division)
ESTE SOM DO BAIXO NO FUNDO DESTA CANÇÃO É SIMPLESMENTE SENSACIONAL ❤
Used to have this on repeat on the tiny square TV I had on my bedroom when going to sleep - Jesus, the memories!!
Bernard summer lived close to me in salford in the 70s
Use to see him a lot when he wos in joy division at the russell club moss side...
Sumner
Best TOTP performance ever!
Surprised these lads/gal did not melt from the hot California Sun. Love New Order
Good old memories back in the early 90s , two décades after sounding as good. Wish i still live in that gold decade.
Good song to jam on the beach, and that’s all that matters to me.
I remember watching this on TOTP...was so bizarre!! Incidentally...what a banger
RIP to the swimmers who died while the baywatch people were partying
lol
Great memories of a very memorable Top of the Pops appearance! Good to see them back at the time, when the charts were starting to go downhill.
Perfection!! Superb chord progression, and that C major riff!! 🤘🥰🤘
Unforgettable and wonderful song! This is one of the best song of 80's!
1993

Every time I went to the LA beach it was foggy ! Warm fog not like cold English fog !
That may be smog
Manchester invading a Californian beach!
I think it was all done for Top of the Pops.
What a great song. ❤
I remember watching TOTP when this was shown! Fab song.
Good morning Good afternoon and good evening all 😉🖐

The 90's summed up in one music video.
perfect comment
Forever new order!!
baywatch marathon for the past week😅. early 90’s baywatch is indeed better. baywatch hawaii feels weird
This is just surreal... But great song... One of my all time favorites.
Peter Hook's bass playing hallmark New Order. Everyone younger back then including the Hoff :-)
Great song that is made even better by its video. Wonder if Barney & Hoff worked together in studio?
It would've been great if the band members swam out and started drowning and got rescued by David Hasselhoff
Essa música marcou meu ano de 1993. Dourados - MS, ouvi muito na TERRA FM.
Long live summer and great music that will not leave anyone cold😍.
Beautiful place
Linda!

Brasil 2022🇧🇷
I love how the girl next to me is on a TELEPHONE with a CORD!
To be fair, it was 1993..:-)
What was the shoot like? Did you meet New Order at all?
