Lyrics:
Hey
Uh huh huh
Hey
Uh huh huh
What I like about you
You hold me tight
Tell me I'm the only one
Wanna come over tonight, yeah
Keep on whispering in my ear
Tell me all the things that I wanna hear
'Cause it's true
That's what I like about you
What I like about you
You really know how to dance
When you go up, down, jump around
Think about true romance, yeah
To play the drums while singing this high-energy song is true talent. Song never gets old.
It's true , 🇨🇦🎶❤️🦅
Remined me of Peter Criss. . .
And being the ultra rare left handed drummer was well.
You got that right
The vocal track on this video is 100% done in the studio. That's not the way that mic sounds, or the way the voice would come out with his head moving around and drum sticks flying by. Here it is actually done live. ua-cam.com/video/DVwNl0qRzZM/v-deo.html
Everything a rock and roll song should be: fast, loud and short.
And no politics or social statements
Good points, short and sweet. Just like this tune.

Talented rockers. Very rare to see a drummer singing lead too!
Phil Collins comes to mind (probably one of the best Drummer/Singers).
+tallrnu
Naw.....best drummer singer is Don Henley from EAGLES, but Jimmy from Romantics is good too.
ALSO drummer from NIGHT RANGER was good.
Peter Rivera from Rare Earth, and also Don Brewer from Grand Funk Railroad. More Michigan greats!
also The Monkees
+tallrnu Yeah, but Phil came out from behind the drums to take center stage. This guy, not so much. 😜
I saw these guys live in 88, and NO-ONE was sitting when this song played. Everyone dancing in the aisles, on their seats. One of the best concerts I've ever been to.
Worked that tour! Rockin' show indeed

Remember music has no color! ❤
Met these guys in a small bar in the early 90's, they were just average guys having fun, not hitting on the girls, just hanging out drinking and enjoying life, I was a fan before but left that night with a new respect.
I was blown away when I saw this music video and discovered that the drummer was the lead vocalist. Many ppl don’t understand how difficult it is to play drums and sing that well at the same time
Drummers🥁Rule! We Use Both Hemispheres of Our Brain🤯Rock Hard😎Gen_X
Same thing with bassists, love the drumming-singing here, it’s GREAT!! 🎉
Occasionally, but in live both Wally and Jimmy sing it. Drummer also sings in Rock You Up
But he made it seems so easy!
It's a very small number of people who can sing lead and drum. Karen Carpenter and Sheila E come to mind.🥁

Singing AND PLAYING THE DRUMS HELL YEAH!!
Wikipedia - "What I Like About You" is a song by American rock band the Romantics. Written by band members Wally Palmar, Mike Skill and Jimmy Marinos in 1979, the song is included on the band's self-titled debut album (1980), and was also released as a single in late 1979. Marinos, the band's drummer, is the lead vocalist on the song. The band filmed a music video for the song that appeared frequently on MTV during the early 1980s.
Wow, what else can you copy and paste off Wikipedia? How about "NOT OK BOOMER"?

Brilliant song. I recall it well.
Such a great party song.
An all-time classic.
Saw these guys live at Massey Hall a million years ago. One of the best live bands I've ever seen.
The rhythm playing on this song - especially the intro - is freaking fantastic. It's one thing to be able to mimic it but these guys came up with this. The picking approach and choice of chord voicings creates SO MUCH energy. I've seen a lot of cover bands do pale imitations, but never seen anyone but the Romantics do justice to this song.
I've seen them live in a big venue and I've seen them on a day they'd probably like to forget at FSU campus - for me it was awesome to see them up close and personal but it was clear that this gig was not set up to do them justice.
My grandma loved this song at 93 she would get up and dance
She asked me who dose this song and told her it was the

harmony, soulful, a master piece
One for all the ages
TIMELESS LUV U GrandMa
Especially with that rhythm section being played with a Rickenbacker 325 too. One of the best for rhythm, for obvious reasons.
Agreed. I’ve been trying to learn that intro for the past couple days and the strumming and chord changes make it a pretty tough one to get down properly.
@@davebryan8416 I'm sure you know this, but your best bet is to loop the intro and play it at 1/2 speed (or less?) over and over until you cannot get it wrong (i.e. until you're so sick of it you never want to hear it again! LOL!). Then start doing it at a slightly faster speed. Rinse/repeat until full speed.
Stay out of my yard though!!!
