Hey man enjoy your videos. I live and farm just east of Amarillo, TX along old Route 66. If you do a trip down old 66 give me a shout, I will show you the real old 66 when it was dirt road before being paved. There is a mile long run on our family land.

Thanks for visiting La Posada. The museum is new. There are more paintings upstairs. Free to see. Rooms are old school. We visited a few times over the years. The Turquoise Room is relatively expensive but worth it.
I’m glad that you showed there’s more to do than stand on the corner.

Thank you for the excellent video tour! We did the Route 66 road trip in 2018 and stayed at the La Posada. What a fabulous place. You really should stay sometime. The rooms are each named after a different celebrity who stayed there. We were in the Shirley Temple room, across from John Wayne. The rooms are beautiful and rustic, decorated in old Mexico style. This is truly a gem. Hoping to do it again in 2024! (Note: For older or handicapped folks, there are no elevators, so you have to climb the round staircase with your luggage. Not sure if there are any rooms downstairs. Aside from that, never stayed at a more historic, eclectic hotel!)

Takes me down memory lane, Russ. I interviewed to become Airport Manager of Winslow (they offered me Director of Finance instead). I was hoping you would have included City Hall in your presentation and captured an Amtrak arrival/departure from the Winslow train platform (or other historic railroad infrastructure since the town's history is so rooted in that industry).

I cant tell you how much I love these videos. Ive mentioned before I drove cross country for UPS. We ran LA to Greensboro NC, so I-40 all the way. We ran it there and back in four days. It brings back so many good memories just showing you running down the road. Our first driver switch point was Winslow but I never got to see the statues, the truck is just too big to take down there. I finally got to see it after I retired and did a road trip. So your videos show all the things I missed over the years. I think it's time for another road trip!

Crossing Arizona from West (California) to East (New Mexico) on Interstate-40 is a 400 miles trip. The same with New Mexico, another 400 miles before reaching the Texas Panhandle. But New Mexico isn't called "The Land of Enchantment" for nothing, they have few National Parks but an incredible roster of State Parks all over their Jurisdiction. Camping costs very little in any of those Parks. Don't forget to explore "El Malpais" ... if I could have returned in 2020, that would have been my "discovery project" for this summer I sorely missed. RICHARD

Outside of Hurricane, Utah there is a mesa called Wire Mesa, and there is petrified wood just laying on the ground on Wire Mesa, and while I was up there with a friend I picked up a couple pieces of petrified wood to keep. One reason that so many celebrities stayed at La Posada is that in the early days of aviation, Winslow was as far as a propeller driven airplane could fly east from LA before needing to be refueled, Consequently, Winslow was the busiest airport in Arizona. It was said that Charles Lindbergh was seen in Winslow constantly. The Turquoise Room restaurant had a stunning, over the top paint job resembling the famous Turquoise dining car on one of the passenger trains. I stayed there in 97 or 98 and believe me, the restaurant décor was incredible. Unfortunately, the restaurant was enlarged in the early 2000s and it was unfeasible to recreate the elaborate paint job in the enlarged space.
