Our family shares a summer cottage at a Minnesota lake, purchased by my grandparents in the late 1800's, now into our 6th generation. Each summer, we have a great blue heron that perches on a dock post to fish. We call it Nana. Such beauty! Eggnog, of course. Your candy cane biscournu is delightful and your ostrich, oh my! Thank you so very much!❤
Loved all the heron facts. The heron is one of my favorite birds and I see them fairly often here in western Oregon. The candy cane biscornu turned out really well. Kudos to that stitcher. Thanks for the cute ostrich pattern. It's on my short list.
I love hearing your segment about the world around, I learnt so much about bees, when you spoke about them, my Nanny is planning on making a Candy cane quilt for my wife and I for next Christmas.
I always enjoy spending time with you, seeing the dogs, hearing about the world around, always something new to learn, with Christmas just around the corner there is plenty of Candy in the stores, I have a very sweet tooth and love a good bar of chocolate.
Hi, lovely flosstube. I never had eggnog. Good to hear that you had a great time at the Jingle Ball. Good luck with making new designs, but as always they will be beautiful. Till the next flosstube.
Thank you for being a part of the jingle ball. I didn’t take any classes, but I enjoyed time in the stitchy room with you and the meet and greet with you and your husband. You two seem sweet as candy😉.
You never know where you are going to see wildlife; you say Nevada, who would suspect a blue heron. Fascinating. The Jingle Ball was so much fun. My stash grew quite a bit larger 😮, now waiting on some threads to start the lovely new designs. A special hello to your husband (and all the husbands who participated). It was fun to meet them as well.
Hello friend! I’m so glad your Biscornu class was a success! I’ve seen lots of finishes and it’s just beautiful. I’m just starting to watch the saved videos - your dogs singing Christmas carols made me smile and laugh out loud. They are quite the performers! Gosh I hope you get some rest soon! Really looking forward to seeing you next week - take care!
Looking forward to the wonderful designs you come up with for Market! I really want to stitch the giraffe ornament, he's so cute. I think candy is one of the major food groups!!! As always, I love the pup pictures!
I enjoyed the jingle ball very much. Was my first time but not my last. It was nice seeing you at the meet and greet and getting to know you. Candy cane biscornu is very nice.
It was so nice seeing you and your husband at the ball. This is certainly the season for eggnog, cookies and candy. I like eggnog but just a few sips satisfy me. It’s so rich. Hope your time leading to the holidays are relaxing.
I also appreciate the beauty of great blue herons. Several years ago, Cornell University had a camera on a heron nest and we had the opportunity to watch a nest/ family. Those young can be very aggressive with each other in the nest as they vie for food. Glad you had a good time at Jingle Ball.
It was so lovely to meet you via the Jingle Ball. I love your flosstube, as I have a similar thirst for knowledge about the world around me. And your work is just beautiful. I fan girled at dinner telling my husband about chatting with you and sharing my Bruce/mini dachshund. Thanks for making my day. Candy
Thank you so much for sharing Bruce! And it was lovely to meet you at the ball. I'm really hoping that we can do it again next year (with Bruce, of course, as an honored guest). ❤️
@@MicStitchesinIndiana Yay! We were just talking about the solstice this morning (as Robert was explaining to Mosi why we couldn't walk yet because it was still dark).
I SO enjoyed the Jingle Ball, as well!! I feel the same way, my brain is sluggish too, there has been lots of activity this month in preparing for the holidays and doing all the things surrounding that. Last weekend I spent a big chunk of time making Christmas candy, so that task is complete, and ready for sharing. I love your candy cane biscornu, and would love to stitch it!
I really enjoyed your meet and greet at the Jingle Ball. It was so nice to meet your husband. Egg nog is one of my favourite drinks but I’ve never attempted to make it myself. Your candy cane biscornu is lovely.
Always love hearing about “the world around.” We have herons where I live, but I learned several things today. My favorite Christmas Candy is anything peppermint.
Loving the puppy videos! Unfortunately, I couldn't make it to the ball this year, but I will do my utmost for nest year. The candy cane biscornu looks so cute! I would love to stitch it. Have a glorious day!
I loved the Biscornu class. I loved the candy cane design. Fingers crossed I can win a kit to make another one. You were a wonderful teacher. Very patient. You so kindly undid your stitching so we could see how to begin the stitching. That made the difference. Mine is done and I am confident that I can now make a Biscornu. I posted pictures on my instagram and showed the project in my Flosstube #33. Thanks so much, Jeannine. Best, K
Oh I'm so glad it was helpful. I get frustrated sometimes when classes assume that you know how to start and stop so I wanted to be sure to include that. And I can't wait to look up your flosstube and appreciate your finish! ❤️
So glad you enjoyed the jingle ball, it's always exhausting when you are going flat out, I always love to have some Candy (or sweets, as we call it here in the UK) in the house, the grandchildren always look for sweeties in Grandma's. Take care. And rest up.
I had so much fun attending my first Jingle Ball. I was not in your biscornu class but I would love to stitch one someday. Candy canes are one of my favorite holiday sweets. Your video at the animal rehabilitation center was so informative … thank you for sharing that. Thanks for the Christmas Kestrel freebie as well. I did download for a someday stitch. I was mesmerized by the Kestrel … Katniss? …. She was so curious and her sound was beautiful. I love your ‘world around us” discussions. Happy Stitching!
I was so thrilled to meet her! And she was such a beautiful and interesting bird. I'm really looking forward to the next visit. And I'm very glad that you enjoyed the ball! ❤️
Great flosstube. Jingle ball was fantastic. Had a great time. I love blue herrings. They are majestic. Thank you for sharing the history. I do not like eggnog my Mom made it every Christmas. Candy
I love how you always give us more information on why things are the way they are. The information about the birds is more than what I had known! At the Jingle Ball I loved again how you went and talk to a bird rehab to share more information. As far as eggnog….yuck I do not care for it at all, hot chocolate is more my holiday drink choice. This year for Thanksgiving and for a Christmas party I made a peppermint bark CANDY cheesecake. I think it is my families new favorite for dessert. Pumpkin pie is my husband’s favorite pie so I had sugar pumpkins that I cooked down and then freeze to make it the pie and pumpkin maple cookies.the Jingle Ball was great, your classes were very informative. Your husband did great asking all the questions and making sure we could hear him.
In Connecticut we see many Herons and they are very majestic. We have also seen a family of Sand Hill Cranes this year! Eggnog is a favorite in our family. My 6 year old great nephew calls it eggmilk. He 4 year old brother is just happy eating candy!
Happy Holidays! Thank you for the freebie patterns. I finished your Season's Greetings with many critters and love the sweaters. I would like to stitch the candy.
Eggnog is a definite NO for me! Best thing about the holiday for me is peppermint bark candy. Loved taking your biscornu class. Can't wait to make more of them once I figure out a replacement for the candy cane dyed thread.
Nice finishes from stitchers! We live close to a marsh & see many kinds of waterfowl. The river is behind us, & the Herons stand by the drain pipe across the river to catch fish. We also have Snowy Egrets, Pelicans, Eagles, & a lot if different ducks. Its amazing to watch, we have binoculars close by all year round. I like egg nog but have never made it. My favorite Christmas treat is ribbon candy. Marilyn
Eggnog is a definite no. Loved taking your candy cane biscornu class. It was nice meeting your husband. We have seen him in so many puppy videos but never heard him talk. Happy holidays!
I did attend the jingle ball but didn’t take any classes. Was my first time but won’t be my last. Always enjoy your videos they are like a piece of candy I can look forward to.
Love that candy cane biscornu, and really wanted to take the class. There were so many to choose from!! Enjoyed the info on herons - we see them often and I'm about to start stitching Paula Minkebige's (Crossed Wing Collection) Great Blue Heron.
I have seen that heron up close and they are so majestic. My husband being quite old fashioned still wants to put out a bowl of Christmas candy even though we never have much company. ( I think it is him that wants to eat it because it does disappear 😂) Merry Christmas to you and your family!
I attended my first Jingle Ball this year and it was so fun! I wanted to take your class of biscornu candy canes but the kits were sold out by the time I could get to the site 😂. Not to fret, I still purchased some other designs of yours and I can’t wait to stitch them! I too have only had store bought egg nog. I pour it over ice and sprinkle with a little cinnamon and nutmeg. It was lovely to meet you and I loved being at your stitching table. Happy holidays!!
Hi Jeannine, loved the jingle ball. Enjoyed your meet and greet and all the festivities. Would have loved to take your candy cane biscornu class but am not good with technology and was watching on an iPad. So much fun and thank you for all your hard work, oh and your French knot dance was fabulous!!!
I'm so glad that you enjoyed the ball! It was so much fun. And it's probably the only event where I'll be dancing in public (certainly as a French knot!) 🤣❤️
I laughed at the protective gate around the Christmas tree. Which dog wants to explore it? Yes to eggnog, but no to adding alcohol. Even as my mom gets older, she still insists on making several types of candy for Christmas.
It was Rye - my husband was travelling for a week and that sort of disruption always makes her antsy. So she turned her attention to the ornaments... 😭🤣❤️
Hi there! The only eggnog I ever liked was my mom’s. She used milk, egg yolks and honey. She slowly added the egg yolk to the honey and milk while warming on the stove, stirring constantly. It was delicious!
Thank you for another video. I enjoyed learning more about blue herons. I had no clue they were so light! Egg nog is a no for me. Hope you get to enjoy some this holiday season though. I prefer a candy cane or two during the holiday season. 🎄
Love spending time with you, JIngle ball sounds like a lot of fun but I am sure you are exhausted, I have just finished decorating my tree with lots of Candy canes, they just scream Christmas to me.
You always share the most interesting things...and not just cross stitch! Life around us is so fascinating. What is your favorite Christmas candy? I love those Chocolate Oranges, the kind you have to hit on a flat surface to get them to split apart--my kids always expect those, even now as adults!
Lovely video, happy for you & hubby that Jiggle Ball went well 😁 but I had no worries…thanks for sharing Great Blue Heron, they truly are amazing we have river frontage on our property so I watch them most days, here in northern MN they do migrate a little south for a few months they are one of the first to return very early , incredible hunters! They also molt so have a period when they can not fly….they look terrible during this time. Enjoy designing for market, see ya next time …Merry Season, Cheers…LaNelle🦌🛷🤶🏻
I've not made homemade eggnog, but I do use as creamer in my coffee in December. Last year I used the last of the eggnog to make a cheesecake with a Biscoff crust. It was the best cheesecake I've ever made ❤
I have come to enjoy egg nog (or as my circle of friends refers to it, “the nog”), but it was an acquired taste! I’ve only ever had the store bought pasteurized version, though - I’ve never made it myself. I love how your Lady of the Greyhounds is coming out! And oh, what a lovely, thoughtful gift from Liz Mathews. One of my favorite things about the Jingle Ball is seeing designers having fun together.
I had an amazing time at the Jingle Ball. Thank you for all you did to make it happen! I watched a Blue Heron hunting as you described. The one I watched caught something and its head shot out so fast I couldn't believe it. Speaking of birds - check out Sand Hill Cranes sometime when you have nothing else to do. 🙂 I have seen them while on vacation in Florida. We were behind the house and in front of the house we heard this loud racket and had NO idea what or who was making the noise. We came around to the front and two giant birds were walking down the sidewalk. It was quiet the sound and sight.
What a great thing to see! I was watching the one on the walk but he was being very patient and not showing off his hunting skills for me. 😭 But I get to visit Florida in 2025 and maybe I'll get to see a Sand Hill Crane there. Fingers crossed! ❤️
I’m not a fan of egg nog, but my husband is. A friend of mine (who is a relatively new cross stitcher) took the peppermint candy Biscornu class and loved it!
Hello Jeannine from Ontario, Canada. Good to see you! I didn't partake in the Jingle Ball but should it come around again, I'm all in ! I like eggnog but I too have never made it. It just seems so easy to open a carton, LOL. Candy is also something I like very much & not just at the holidays.
Thank you for the visit. My husband is addicted to Egg Nog it is good that it is a christmas treat or he would gain pounds. My self I love peppermint candy this time or year. One candy cane is enough, though, because they are so sweet. I love the puppy videos and enjoy all animals even though I am allergic to them now. My son hid all the cats and dogs around his big house, so I would be safe because I would cuddle each one of them even if they made me sick during the Thanksgiving visit.
They are very sweet, but peppermint candy is so delicious! It's probably good that we only have that at Christmas as well. How kind that your son kept you safe from the pets - it would be very hard not to give them all hugs. ❤️
We lived on a farm when I was young and we had chickens so it was easy enough to get eggs. We had a recipe that was cooked like a custard, simalar to store bought eggnog. I love to make eggnog fudge or eggnog mousse during the holidays but as you can guess from my name, I do love to make all kinds of candy. Thank you for the "Oliday Ostrich pattern.......such a cute pattern!
Any time of year is a good time for candy! So enjoyed seeing you (and your husband) at the Jingle Ball! Your biscornu class was absolutely brilliant and I cannot wait to try my hand at finishing one for the first time. I recently saw Michelle Bendy post a Winter Phoenix pattern-how did I miss this?! This is a must-have for me (if possible). Thank you so much for sharing your heart and talent with all of us! 🩵 Happy Holidays!
I was so thrilled that she posted it! It was part of a special box from Forbidden Fiber that just came out, but I'll be able to release it generally next year.
The Jingle Ball was great! I haven’t finished my biscornu but I will very soon. I look forward to receiving my 12 Cats book. My kitties have been completely wild with the Christmas decorations. 😻😹🥰. I will stitch the 3 of them on skates from the book. Yes to eggnog! Happy Holidays to everyone
I can't wait to see your cats on skates! Ours were always wild about the Christmas decorations as well, but Rye is doing her best to take up the slack. 🤣❤️
I absolutely had a great time at the Jingle Ball. Can't wait to stitch some of those exclusives! I didn't get to take your class, but I did take Liz Matthews Santa tree class. What a beautiful gift she sent you! Blue Heron's are amazing. They are HUGE! The first time I saw one I was on vacation in Maine. One of my co-workers has one that has come into her yard twice, the second time clear up on her patio! I will let her know some of the great info you provided. I love Christmas cookies and Chistmas candy, but I am not a fan of egg nog. I'm more of an Irish Cream kinda gal 😊😉
Wasn't it thoughtful? And I absolutely loved her classes at the Jingle Ball. I need to see if she's going to make the designs and projects available in future - they were so cute! ❤️ I think if I had a great blue heron in my yard I would pass out from excitement!
We enjoy the custard flavored eggnog. A few companies make this flavor and it is the best. We find the regular eggnog to be a little on the spicy/nutmeg side. I love your candy cane biscornu!
Growing up my mom would make us egg(raw) nog if we were ill and I’m still alive. lol. It was delicious and we felt very special when she made it for us. Candy is one of my favorite treats at Christmas time.
This time of year I love adding a little peppermint candy to a mug of hot chocolate. I'll also have a little store-bought eggnog around the holidays (I've never tried making my own and I'm not much of a drinker, either). Your biscornu class (I had a pdf ticket) and meet and greet at the Jingle Ball were wonderful!
I'm so glad you enjoyed the class and the Jingle Ball! And thank you for reminding me about the peppermint in hot chocolate - that's a delicious treat. ❤️
I love eggnog with rum. I’ve liked it so much lately that I’ve been indulging in one every day after work! Blue Herons are so pretty. We don’t have any right where I live but at my brothers in BC I get to see them. Oh the travelling stories your candy Biscornu could tell!
You should enjoy it while it's around, right? In another month it won't be available in stores at all. And at least one of these kits went all the way to Hawaii and back! (Maybe I should have mailed myself for a little vacation.) 🤣❤️
I always enjoy your videos and love the puppy ones. I have never tried eggnog as it is not something we would traditionally have. I do like the candy cane biscornu. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas.
Definitely NOT a fan of eggnog! But I was a tremendous fan of the Jingle Ball! Had a blast stitching, shopping, and lurking in the designers’ Meet-and-Greets. Maybe next year I’ll work up the courage to pop into your shop and say “hi”. Love your Candy Cane biscornu - I look forward to stitching it, maybe for Christmas in July.
Loved your jingle ball hawk section video I found an eggnog flavored chocolate candy bar for a stocking stuffer probably the closest thing to eggnog I would consider because I can’t resist the chocolate 🍫
I'm glad the Jingle Ball went well for you😊. I know I've tried eggnog years ago and thought it was fine, but I haven't had any in a very long time. I think the raw egg thing might have been what stopped me. Hope you get some peaceful moments in the next few weeks for some stitching time, or just to relax and enjoy all the things...maybe while eating a piece of your favorite Christmas candy 😉

Aww how cute is Oliday Ostrich, he is a definite holiday stitch, I may start in on him on Christmas day with eating candy from my stocking.

Thank you for another video. I enjoyed learning more about blue herons. I had no clue they were so light! Egg nog is a no for me. Hope you get to enjoy some this holiday season though. I prefer a candy cane or two during the holiday season. 🎄
I love candy. Im going to check out the freebie. Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed thr video
Love spending time with you, JIngle ball sounds like a lot of fun but I am sure you are exhausted, I have just finished decorating my tree with lots of Candy canes, they just scream Christmas to me.
I love candy and egg nog! Your jingle ball design was gorgeous.
Thank you! ❤️
It was like a candy treat to meet you ! I hope you have lots of rest ❤❤❤
It was lovely to meet you as well, and actually get to chat! ❤️
You always share the most interesting things...and not just cross stitch! Life around us is so fascinating. What is your favorite Christmas candy? I love those Chocolate Oranges, the kind you have to hit on a flat surface to get them to split apart--my kids always expect those, even now as adults!
I just had some chocolate orange candy recently and it was so good! Now I want to try one of the official chocolate oranges right away. 🤣❤️
What a great idea to change the Santa for a women. I like all candy and chocolate.
I loved watching your meet and greet at the Jingle Ball
Oh I'm so glad she enjoyed the class! I feel lots more confident about teaching again, since the students were so great. ❤️
Candy. Great flosstube.
Thank you! ❤️
Your designs are eye candy! I love your designs and videos. I look forward to finishing 'Oliday Ostrich. ❤
🤣🤣🤣 Well done! And thank you. ❤️
Candy and Christmas go hand in hand. I missed Jingle Ball this year. It sounds like I missed a great time. Hopefully you participate next year again.
Ooh, now I really want to try eggnog fudge and eggnog mousse! ❤️
{I'm always so far behind in learning about cross-stitch events... 😞}
~ Luv'n your newest freebie; thank you! ~ You had me at " candy "! 🍭🍬🍫
Missed the jingle ball this year do too prior engagement hopefully 🤞 next year. I love candy canes. Have a great weekend 😊🪡🧵🤗🤩🎄⛄️❄️
Candy would be fun and new to me to try.
I so enjoyed the class...haven't started by own biscornu yet...no supplies yet! I do love candy though!
I'm so glad the class was helpful! And if you have any questions on the finish just let me know. ❤️
I hope you will be back for jungle ball. We make different flavours of fudge for the holidays. Candy canes are still the best.
Thank you so much! I'll give the dogs a hug from you, and I hope you have a wonderful holiday as well. ❤️
I have just watchedNichol Spohr and she had stitched up your funky little Candy cane biscornu, so cute,
Definitely NOT a fan of eggnog!
I eat way too much candy at this time of year,, enjoyed watching
Always love your videos and enjoy learning about wildlife. I love candy unfortunately. I don't drink eggnog though. Thank you for sharing.
Loved your jingle ball hawk section video I found an eggnog flavored chocolate candy bar for a stocking stuffer probably the closest thing to eggnog I would consider because I can’t resist the chocolate 🍫
Ooh, that does sound lovely. ❤️
It's the raw egg for me too, at least for the "real" version. But I love the pasteurized and pre-made stuff! ❤️
I think I’ll make Christmas candy this year!!!
