In this video I am setting up, trying out, and experimenting with a laser engraver.
This is the NEJE Master 2S Plus with N40630 laser (30 watt laser module).
I also show a simple way that you can make your own line drawing (vector graphics) images using free Inkscape software by simply tracing over photos or other images.
You can cut thin materials with this laser, but it is primarily about engraving, which is what I am mostly looking into in this video. Maybe I'll try out cutting at a future time.
THIS VIDEO is about setting it up and trying it out. I am NOT an expert. I have not yet tried out the air assist (need a small pump like from an aquarium?), I have not yet tried out cutting. This unit supports bluetooth control from your phone or tablet, which again I have not yet tried out. This is about a complete beginner getting familiar with it, and getting some inspiration for more things to try. Hopefully you also get some new ideas of things to try.

lasers are fun, I have a 40 watt cutter, its in a box but I have small children that might enter the garage while its on and I do model level stuff so its ok
Yup, I was always very aware of where my kids were when they were younger and I was in the shop. Had multiple sets of hearing protection so they could watch at times.
GREAT start Art. You have a wonderful way of presenting your subject matter. I would buy one, but my limited creativity and working with the software certainly is holding me back. This might be what it takes for me to make the jump.
So PLEASE make a playlist for the laser AND the software tutorials.

Really nice finished engraving for something in a low price range. I didn’t say cheap because it works and aluminum extrusions and everything holding it together seem solid enough. I’d buy it if I wanted to engrave something I made to sell. It’s capable enough and the monster sized ones are a couple thousand dollars I think.
Parallel clamp saga. I got four 50 inch and four 24 inch and now I’m looking finish with four 40 inch. I think that’ll cover me for a couple years but 40 inch is definitely my favorite length.

Thank you so much for your tutorial and review. I just bought one of these used and have not got it yet. I am trying to familiarize myself with what/how everything works. I was wondering though if you have used the air assist yet? Is that something that I will want to add or not? I'm not sure what it really does. My primary reason for buying this is to sign my work and maybe add some graphics too.
I bought a Neje laser module and mounted it on my home built CNC router. Works really well although my trial version of Lightburn has expired and I haven't purchased the software yet..
Seen a few other guys who mounted it to their CNC... Certainly would save on space!

Very interesting Art. I went to the site to check them out and the pricing was a lot less than I was expecting. I read in the comments further down that these can cut also, that just makes them more enticing. Christmas present for myself maybe....
Someone else asked about cutting also, and maybe I wasn't clear on that in the video. My understanding is that you can cut, I just haven't tried it yet as I was trying to learn engraving. Ventilation would undoubtedly be even more of an issue then, as it will be slower. Thanks for watching!
@@Wordsnwood Yep, with the air assist it cuts. Just watched a video on the website showing that it does cut. 21mm (10 passes) cut. If for nothing else I see this as a great template maker.

These tiny laser rigs are looking interesting. I'm not sure I'd end up satisfied with one, though, that couldn't at least cut some very thin (
You can cut, I just have not tried it yet with this one. I've definitely seen others cutting with the small ones.
