    Nice review... I had the same laser delivered just yesterday... Where did you get the air assist attachment you have on the laser?

      Hi! It's made from the model from TinC www.thingiverse.com/thing:4835361 (multiple designs on the site).
      The one tube holder we are using can me made from wood if you have access to a 3D printer.

      Hi!
      That will depend on your settings - but in general, the NEJE Wiki site is a good reference wiki.nejetool.com/doku.php?id=laser_module_406030w

    I have the same 30w module and even with following NEJE module and material settings can only get 3mm ply in 280mm/min and 100% in 5 passes?
    That is with 20mm height and a 17mm focus point..
    So I would be inquisitive to know how you had your settings and setup for this video???

      Sadly it didn't work out for me.
      I've now purchased the 40w / 12w dual diode and can say that it has been worth it.
      440mm/min and 1 pass for 3mm plywood, 380mm/min and 2 passes for 6mm plywood and finally 240mm/min and 5 passes for 12mm plywood to date 👍

    What kind of air compressor are you using?

    • @DIYTECHBROS
      @DIYTECHBROS  Рік тому +1

      We are using an air compressor for spray paint and a regular Stanly air compressor (usually used for car tires etc.). Similar results.

      @@DIYTECHBROS I have 2 compressors, one that is that tiny disc used with cheap airbrushes and one that is also for air brushing but it's bigger but I feel like it doesn't generate enough pressure since it's those without tank. But I see ppl using those aquarium air pumps that can't do much more pressure

    Nice review. I build balsa airplane , ( small) . Question if this is able to cut plywood up to 8mm, can this cut balsa wood? Is balsa wood easier or more difficult to cut?
    Any guess what is max thickness this laser can cut balsa wood?
    Thanks
    Alex

    • @DIYTECHBROS
      @DIYTECHBROS  2 роки тому

      Hi, balsa is easy to cut in all thickness due to the low density of the wood. There is lot’s of different plywood on the market, some are expensive and made specifically for laser cutting, some has a hard outer layer and softer core. We always use regular plywood in our tests often referred as furnishings plywood or light construction plywood this has the same density in all layers and hard to cut. The simple answer is yes you can cut 8mm with multiple passes or why not cut two pieces in 4mm and glue them together. There will always be factors that comes in play when cutting organic materials such as the moisture, twig knots and the texture of the wood. Learn to know your machine and your working materials 👍🏻

    Thanks for the review! I've been looking into cutting machines lately (either this or CNC). It seems like this would leave less waste since the laser can cut thinner than a CNC cutting head. As far as laser cutting, does a little bit of sanding get rid of the burning / charring marks?

    • @DIYTECHBROS
      @DIYTECHBROS  2 роки тому +1

      Hi!
      We are using different CNCs and Lasers (if you see our other videos).
      If you are mainly cutting thinner plywood and similar, we now always use the laser for that. But we use the CNC for tougher materials and clear acrylics.
      Yes, a bit of light sanding will remove the burnt edges!

    I have this exact same laser module but i cant seem to cut even 3mm plywood or mdf as easily as youtube videos show. I've managed to focus the laser pretty well with a black paper and 0.30% it starts to mark it but no matter where i set the focal point (top, mid or bottom) of the wood i can't cut with with the said speeds or passes to cut a 3mm plywood took me 14 passes. It would be great if you could do a video or explanation on how to proper focus this module to cut.

      Hi! To make sure there are no error in your settings, try to download and use the NEJE software on your computer.

    • @DIYTECHBROS
      @DIYTECHBROS  Рік тому +1

      Might be errors in settings or that your machine needs an update. Cutting 3mm ply should be easy! The NEJE software lets you run correct settings and update your laser.

      @@DIYTECHBROS I will try that, i think ill delete everything even the drivers and reinstall everything and try to do firmware update and report back. Im really having a hard time and its not supposed to be this hard :(

    • @DIYTECHBROS
      @DIYTECHBROS  Рік тому +1

      I had a similar problem once - think the cause was using the wrong (too new) GRBL settings in Lightburn when setting up the device. Tested the NEJE software and the power of the laser increased to 10x. But, we also did a firmware update from the NEJE software, so might also been a problem related to that.
      Best of luck!

      @@DIYTECHBROS I know its been a while since you posted this video and maybe you dont have that information at hand, but is there anyway you can tell wich version of the firmware you updated to? The ones i found on Neje Wiki are Firmware v7.7 for boards v1.0/1.1/1.2 and Firmware v8.7 and v8.8 for boards v2.0 or higher, my Neje has a v2.1 board. Im also going to update de GRBL firmware to the latest they sugest for Neje Master 2S. Lets go!
