Plot: A prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series, the show follows the crew of the USS Enterprise under Captain Christopher Pike.

Anson is killing it as Pike. Hopefully we will get more than 2 seasons before he bows out and Kirk takes command!
I also hope they phase in some of the crew from TOS. It would only make sense that some of them were posted there before Kirk took over. We already have Uhura, Spock, and Chapel, but it’d be cool to see Sulu and some of the others. McCoy replacing M’benga eventually (not too soon though pls)

Ive seen every Star Trek series, and SNW is such a breath of fresh air. The characters, acting, set design is just so spot on and it feels modern in a way that's still sympathetic to Star Trek while being it's own thing. Love it, I hope there are a good few seasons to come.
SNW feels like the first of the 'Pike Timeline' films.
Just so full of energy and wanting to tell great stories.
Anson is a deep lore nerd. Love it. The moments when the show opens up with Pike cooking with some wine and the fireplace in the background .. are very comfy.
Néver have i seen a better first season of any Star Trek Series than Strange New Worlds. 3 episodes into season 2, and it is still spot-on!! I really, really love this series!! The cast, the characters, the design of the Enterprise, the stories, the new races and new planets, the depth of storytelling, the building of characters and worlds, the fixing of broken canon. This series has it all. Very enjoyable to watch, for young and old, for new viewers and for die-hard Trekkies. Strange New Worlds does it right.
Anson's little smile when Rebecca is talking about Bruce Hovak coming back and how people might not recognise him, and Anson's trying not to give the game away about what an incredible episode 9 cameo Bruce was getting.

The cast is terrible. Except these two. The worst Spock, the worst Uhura, the worst everything.

The world, including the U.S., would be in a better place if everyone watched Season 2, episode 2. Epic. Just like all things Star Trek. For every ‘human’ problem there is a Star Trek episode which addresses it…..

SNW has unexpectedly become some of my all time favorite trek: thst last courtroom episode was profound and touching. Fantastic work and congrats for it.
Data had a simular trial in TNG and the doctor in VOY. All three part of the better episodes. Just like Year of Hell and the alternate reality - Warship Enterprise/Voyager.
The production on Discovery and Strange New Worlds is simply outstanding! Great cast with well written plots that is well executed!
I will never forget the tenor singing and dancing Klingons! By far the most epic event ever.

Really cool that Anson mentioned he still has his Marvel comics collection from childhood! Wish that I still had mine from the 60s. I was a huge IronMan/Avenger fan back then and had all the comics. But they got sold...traded...lost or otherwise didn't survive into adulthood.
Just as Sir Patrick Stewart was a huge element in making STNG so beloved, so successful, Anson Mount is a huge element in SNW that makes the series so great.
So I really love these 2 actors/ characters and I feel quite enthusiastic about the creative plot lines in Strange New Worlds. 'No need to bring in Patrick Stewart, superb as he is. I just want to see what this group tries next!

@HeyUguys Awesome interview as the actors obviously put their heart and soul into it and it is an astonishing show, with brilliant acting, stories and dialogue. I just love it. Long time Trekkie here since the age of 7 from the 1970s

It's easier to believe her when she says that the people involved are Trekkies. It's not quite my cup of tea but it's a million miles ahead of STD and Picard.
This and lower decks is decent trek and will carry the franchise for a long time.

@@leif1075 He doesn't have the same enthusiasm that he did for his Season 1 interviews. Also, he's not a big Star Trek fan and would rather do movies instead of a "TV" series. Maybe he'll come around though. Patrick Stewart was the same way when he first worked on ST:TNG and started to warm up by Season 3.

I would love to see a time travelling future Kirk played by William Shatner showing up on the show. The writers could make it happen where a young Kirk meets Shatner's Kirk. Could be the event of the season. In this interview, they suggest guest stars.

I like season two better than s1. Some commenters was the other way around. Cant please everyone. The first star trek had problems staying on the air. Actually they changed the plot from pike to captain kirk. Go figure. So we are full. 🔵

12 days to make an episode ??? Not bad,other Trek series took 14 days,if I remember correctly.That was TNG tho.But TNG,DS9 and Voyager had 26 episodes per season.

This show is good sci/fi. But it seems that the writers never watched The Original Series.
SNW is much better than Discovery by a mile. The producers, writers, and directors made sure the show does not center on a single character. Each character is explored .

I remember when Paramount was just milking the franchise.... DS9 was never that good, Voyager was derided as "alien of the week with fouled up forehead" and it was like paperdolls were walking on and off the set. Characters were just a demographic to grab more market share.
I lamented the state on a Trek bulletin board, and asked "why don't any of these episodes go for an emmy? They have excellent actors, excellent production values, but the stories are flat as are the characters. The No-It-Alls responded with "it's JUST Star Trek."
Glad to see that with Picard and the first three seasons of Discovery that ST is fielding great shows, and SNWs is out of the park excellent.

The first season was great. I liked all the episodes. However, this second season is a real dissappointment with too many dual personal relationship shows and no real adventure, new world episodes. I am really disappointed in the second season which has just been very disappointing week after week! The 9th episode where they are all singing is totally out of character for a much anticipated Star Trek Exploit! I want to see Galactic size stories with strange new races and civilizations, not interpersonal problems and solutions between two crew members. I can go to all the daytime soap operas everyday for that BS! I hate the second season!

I am a Treker not a cutesy putsey Trekkie. I loathe diminutives. I do kind of like Strange new Worlds. I am seeing a trend to try to get back to classic Trek, but the only reason I really watch this show is for Anson Mount and Rebbeca playing their characters. If they do too much Kirk I WILL tune out. They need to get back to the traditional values that Gene Roddenbury expounded on in Classic Trek and TNG. This whole idea of conflict within the crew on the ship is BS. That is not TREK. Trek is about positive values and a better future. Something to aspire to, not lower yourself to.

Strange New Worlds and Below Decks are the prize for being able to go thru STD and Picard. So sad for Picard... they butchered his character and legacy.
I can't imagine the characters of ST: Discovery ever lending themselves to a comic episode. Part of comedy is not taking yourself seriously, while everybody on ST:D is too full of themselves and must be respected. Also comedy sexist/racist/etc.
These two are the REAL acting talent on the show, yet SNW keeps trying to show La'an and Ortegas that are just horrible distractions. If you want a strong female lead, use Rebecca Romijn. The producers are missing out by not using her. She plays a Legacy character, is a talented actress, far less distracting, and has real appeal to Trek Fans by being a part of the Pike story. Build that relationship between Pile and Number One!! The Original series was centered around 3 Main characters. This too should revolve around Pike, Una and M'Benga. Use Spock, Nurse Chapel and a strong Engineer to support the main trio. Hemmer was terrific... Un-Imaginable potential in his character. Lost for no reason. Such a shame. And quit it with the Kirk guy. His story comes later and doesn't need to be a part of the series.

I love this Pike depiction. The writers on the other hand are screwing up Trek with some stupid choices. Musical Trek?! All I can hope is that there's a twist that makes them act stupid, singing the story instead of acting. Musicals suck and Trek is not the place for musicals. La'an going back to 2020 instead of 1990 to get involved in the eugenics wars? STUPID
On this show, the woman are more manly then the men! out of balance, no different then this upside down world we live!

I’m surprised this show even trudge on after season one. Shoddy writing, bad pacing; there’s no logic to the set designs and the character development sucked. The CGI was plentiful and wonderful.
