I just got an FC15 in blue leather and it is an incredible bag. I love it so much. I needed a longer strap and Yoki is having one done up for me at no cost but shipping. And he got back to me, several emails, in about 24 hours. Amazing customer service as well. I think I might be a convert; I love my Saddleback bags, but I’m not sure they’re going to be able to tempt me back after this.
I’ve had my FC for about a year and a half now and I can’t say enough good things about it. No one else is making bags like this, this well, at this price point. I’ve also ordered one of their journal covers, which was just as nice, so people are missing out for sure on this one. Yoki’s a super solid dude and their customer service is top notch, too. As far as the handle, this is very much a messenger bag. I really only ever use it when I’m picking it up or need to grab it quick. It’s definitely not meant to be carried long term like a briefcase, but it’s super convenient when you just need to grab and go.

Hey Nick, thanks for bringing this leather bag and Cravar to my attention. Cravar seems like a good company to keep my eye on for quality leather products at a fair price. Hi, Thanks for the comment about the F.C. & the company. I understand the handle's location might be of concern to some. The handle doesn't jab into your side if you're worried about comfort. Function wise, I planned it to be more of a grab handle to pick your bag up from your desk for example. Putting a handle on top of the F.C. will flatten the top side a little, breaking the floppy relaxed look I wanted it to have, especially if we use the aluminium piece we use on the Alpha & Rana series, embedded in the top flap, if we don't use that aluminium piece, as you carry the bag by the top handle, it might pull the sides of the top flap, negating the oversized side flaps' function to cover the sides of the bag.

You have certainly raised my interest in this bag to consider a purchase. I did want to ask how you suggest to care for a bag like this and your thoughts if I should have any concerns with getting it wet for example by getting caught in the rain with it. Filson bags address that concern for me for exposure to moisture and rain and I have no issues but I really want a leather bag and I am sold on this one. I love the look, nicely done on the curved lid which is vary rare. If you can't afford the $400 price they do have a canvas model that looks just as handsome in the $250 range.
I'll be honest here. As a bag maker myself, I could make you a $1k or even a $2k bag, and it wouldn't be better than this. It might be better leather (maybe), it might be prettier (questionable) but it wouldn't be better. These guys have put a ridiculous amount of labour into every bag, which (lets be honest) you have no hope of doing in a western country and end up with a price like that. They have burnished edges, they have rolled edges, they have added stiffeners in the straps (hugely important if you don't want your straps stretching over time), they have lined everything, they have even used thick thread which bag manufacturers absolutely hate doing because it means less thread on the bobbin and more expensive sewing machines. Personally I don't like the Same Browne closures that they've chosen, because I don't like having to squeeze my strap onto the bag to close it, plus I find that the holes on the straps tend to stretch over time. But other than that I can't fault it, this is good bag. Come to guys like me if you want a custom made bag or something you can't find on the market, but if the Cravar design and leather choice works for you, I'd just buy this one.
I was hoping you might be able to give some guidance about how to best care for a product like this since you yourself make high quality leather goods. Are there any do's and don'ts with that are worth knowing? Should I be applying any products to the bag over time to keep it "healthy" and preserve its longevity and if so, what products would you recommend and with what frequency? Also, I'm located in Seattle Washington (it rains about 150 day a year here but it's typically just a drizzle) am I safe to use this bag in the rain when I am, for instance, walking between classes? Are there any products that I can/should use specifically to protect the bag from the elements (I've always used Sno-Seal bees wax for my leather gloves)? Thank you in advance for any guidance you can provide, I know there is information online but would rather get advice from someone who makes quality leather goods for a living, I'd like to be able to use this bag every day but its longevity is more important to me.
Beautiful bag, but cloth lining is a big no no at this price-point and it will not last, needs to be leather lined. Kind ofa weird decision and is a deal breaker for many
Disagree. Very few companies leather-line their bags, SBL being one of the only I know. Hermes, LV, Frank Clegg, there are tons of high end leather bag manufacturers who don't line their bags with leather. Leather, especially cow, is also heavy and adds a lot of weight to the bag. The company has a lifetime warranty so why wouldn't they last? Given that warranty and that price it's in their interest to make sure the lining holds up.
@@ginzaboy8460 these lifetime warranties always come with a huge asterisk. I would prefer unlined than no leather. because that lining will start to pill and look like shit even if it doesn't tear.
@@amanasd26 Hi, the reason we chose that acrylic fabric to line our bags is because it repel waters very well and also very durable. We've been using it since 2013, and on my 7 year old daily driver bag, no pilling and still looks good :). It's not a cost saving measure because it's actually more expensive than a lot of canvas liner. As for leather lining, I agree with Ginzaboy, it'd make the bag heavier, and from technical standpoint, doesn't repel water as well. You can treat it of course, but I'm not too keen on the hand feel of waterproofed leather (maybe there's a technique out there that will negate this, but afaik there's none with the resources that's feasibly available to me). I don't know what you mean by asterisk on the warranty, from our standpoint, it's : we'll fix it and ship it back to you.
@@cravarbags Ok, I understand some of your points and I can understand the decision making process, but this isn't meant to be a technical bag. It has a leather exterior, so touting the water resistance and weight savings of the sunbrella lining is just mixed messaging because if those things were the focus than the exterior of the bag would need to reflect that as well. Not trying to shit on your bag, it's beautiful.
This bag MUST be incredible! It is clearly like two bags, since it boasts four halves of cool features!😂 Just messing Nick. I always LOVE your reviews!
@@chuiechuie quite a few small US brands for they are actually, just less than 80 dollars more for french / Italian veg tan leather, also handmade, lifetime warranty. For similar price there are Spanish brands and Japanese brands, but of course the style aren’t going to be the same, but definitely higher cost performance
@@chuiechuie also vag tanned leather doesn’t mean much, just like not all shell cordovan leather is the same quality. @@Stridewise it's rare to see an Indonesian brand take off internationally. Don't get me wrong, I love Cravar, but making good products and becoming a successful worldwide are two different things. I'm just wondering how did their products spread? Who started buying from Indonesia and spreading the word? 😂😂 Just curious nothing important
@@remy7663 hey man, I wouldn't say we're popular yet, but yes we do have a bit of international exposure. Our Kickstarter projects since 2013 helped a lot in that area and taught us a lot of lessons. Basically within 2-3 months you have to learn and handle presentation, marketing, production & international fulfillment. I'm quite proud of the fact that we delivered our Kickstarter goods on time, which apparently is a rarity. We chose to start with international audience because back then it was actually harder to sell to Indonesians.

One of my favorite bags I’ve owned. I bet you would love it!
Looks like a great bag. It’s too bad that they’ve increased the price a bit.
Yeah, inflation and leather goods are always intertwined. It's nice shipping is included though
hell yea brother
What boots do you have/recommend from Indonesia?
lol - just finished the video and saw you mentioned Santalum :-)
I've got Sagara too! I hear great things about all of them. Benzein's a new one I like
Onderhoud, Sagara, Benzein, Txture, Hidalgo Boots, Tahura Boots...
This bag MUST be incredible! It is clearly like two bags, since it boasts four halves of cool features!😂 Just messing Nick. I always LOVE your reviews!
Close to $500 now 😭
Please if anyone knows this please comment: is this bag in Espresso or Fox………?????
fox!
The terminology of lifetime warranty seems to be unclear, is it the lifetime of the company, owner of the bag, or the universe 😁
I mean, a company that no longer exists can't process a warranty claim. So probably the first one..

What color is this one?
Fox!
Nice, a little pricey consider where it’s made, thanks for the recommendation though, will give it a shot if it ever go on sale
For a handmade veg tanned leather bag.. expensive compared to what exactly?
@@chuiechuie quite a few small US brands for they are actually, just less than 80 dollars more for french / Italian veg tan leather, also handmade, lifetime warranty.
For similar price there are Spanish brands and Japanese brands, but of course the style aren’t going to be the same, but definitely higher cost performance
@@chuiechuie also vag tanned leather doesn’t mean much, just like not all shell cordovan leather is the same quality. There’s a good reason why some tanneries have better reputation, and people would pay extra for tannery such as horween’s. Not saying this one is bad, just pricey for the reputation.
Why if it come from Indonesia?
@@chuiechuie Well it's not leather lined for one, which is not good when companies like satchel and page do.

as an Indonesian I'm so confused why Cravar is so popular worldwide
why
We started marketing to Indonesians in 2017 after we have some breadcrumbs on the internet. Hope that answered your curiousity, oh aside from all that there's also black magic involved, obviously. :)
@@cravarbags Oh wow that's really cool to hear! Really interesting approach too! Wish you guys all the best, your products seem great and you listen to consumers. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 Great job guys.
Made in Indonesia 😅 for $415.

Nice Murse! Hand in your man card ASAP!
The name of the bag sounds like a football club
I'm trying to dress better going into my 40s but I just can't do a murse....I can't
Maybe a waxed canvas backpack? My advice to you is get some nice jeans, boots, and causal but good looking shirts. For a beginner I recommend Bravestar selvedge, Thursday boots if you care about comfort and cost saving, and ll bean or Huckberry for shirts. This combo looks good on literally anyone regardless of age. In the summer get some nick t shirts and chukka boots.
Haha, thanks guys! I got some allen edmonds chelsea boots and wish I would have gone with the Thursdays actually. The AE have zero arch support. Im hoping there's some cork in there to form to my foot, time will tell. I like the backpack idea.
@Tony LOL
1:41 thats a lot of halves
it's actually two bags
@@Stridewise I was just stirring, just sounded funny thats all. Great review and thanks for putting this brand on my radar. Props
