Bought a 2017 Accord V6L. They spec them highly in Australia and they cost more than all Japanese competitors as well as the Passat. When I bought it, the 5 series and E Class of a similar vintage were about $AU 5,000 more expensive, but the refinement of the Honda impressed me more. Everything was built correctly; when you spend $50-60,000 on a Japanese vehicle, they will give you $50-60,000 worth of car.

I think one thing that impresses me about this car isn't just it's high mileage, but also how well the interior has held up-so many cars these days have such poorly put together interiors.

    • @t.j2881
      @t.j2881 3 роки тому +4

Such a good point. You can really see the quality of craftsmanship on a vehicle when comparing interiors. This generation accord interiors are top notch. I'm often shocked that our 2003 GMC Sierra work truck was made the same year as my accord. The accord interior looks new, no rattles or proken plastics, the trucks interior is falling apart. Such cheap quality hard plastics in those early 2000s GM trucks. They just disintegrate. I could probably pull the dash out of it with one hand.

@@t.j2881 It's not uncommon when comparing American and Japanese cars, even if the said Japanese car is made in the United States. In 2014 I rode in a Toyota Camry that was over a decade old at that point (made in Kentucky), and it held up much better than any GM or Ford car I had ridden in that was even newer...

@johnny Macon It usually means you have really good compression or it could be that the motor's internals (specifically the piston rings) were *perfectly* sealed during the motor's break in period.
It's a good thing, it means your j series is still young on the internals and has less wear overall. You have a healthy J30.
Just keep an eye on the PCV hose/valve for clogged carbon build up and you'll be alright.

Bought an 04 coupe today with 256k with the 2.4. I wasn’t hesitant to buy it but it runs and drives perfectly. Has some battle scars obviously but its interior looks brand new and seems to run like a top. I’m hoping its going to last awhile with no problems , my last car drained my account on a bi monthly basis and I couldn’t handle it anymore. This car and engine combo was recommended to me. It’s a $2k gamble so I hope it makes it to even 350, I would be extremely happy.

just make sure the trans has been maintained. even if it never had fluid changed but as long as it doesn't show any issues then you can still change the fluid.
remember most honda transmission tend to show issues when you are being easy on them like go 0-60 without going over 2200 rpms it will be slow yes but better to be safe and figure everything out before you buy
I have found that when im accelerating harder on a honda trans it tends not to show any issues.

Jay C this is not a daily driver for me. I plan to drive it a few times a week for an inspection business I do. I average 150-200 miles a day those few days out of the week. So I should see the miles increase steadily. I paid $3700 for the car.
Some say that’s to much for the miles but despite some of the minor flaws it has for that price it was the best example in my area. I went to check it out thinking either it’s going to be total junk or it’s going to be great. Well it really surprised me how good it was so I went ahead and picked it up.

@@MrNate-wm3mp Great... If you look after it and manage to drive it for another 490,000 miles... (Without 'Redlining' it constantly!)...It's possible. Especially with good maintainence and frequent Oil changes) - IF you keep it that long and manage even close to that, HONDA corp. will want to buy it.
This 2.4 VTEC engine is supposed to be incredibly robust, reliable and very long lasting. Good luck with it.

Hesitantly bought one today with 256k on it but it just ran so good. Reading through the comment I’m feeling for more for confident in it. Buying a used car with that many miles is always scary so I’m hoping this one works out for a couple years! I paid 2k, has new tires and belts and is fully loaded black leather that looks brand new and heated seats, etc. Not the prettiest girl at the dance but really not bad either. The silver hides a lot and every single thing works. The gasket around the sunroof came loose but I think I can get it back in. Anyways, I hope it was a good buy. I can’t afford another money pit like my BMW. Makes pretty driveway decoration but has been a nightmare. Just put in a new tranny at $2900 6 months ago, whole new cooling system, new coil packs, and now the head gasket went on it. With purchase price I’m over 8k into it in less than 2 years. Every time you think it’s the last thing you’ll have to fix something else happens. My wife had one just like it years ago that never gave us problems so I thought it’d be ok. Car number 2 and 10 grand later I wish I would’ve just bought something new lol. Hopefully the Honda treat me better.

I bought a 2006 Accord LX, (the basic 'no frills' model )stick-shift with the 2.4L 4 cylinder Engine... It had 140k. on it and i paid $4,200... I am loving it so far. I also have an ancient 1995 Honda Odyssey van with " swing-out doors" it has 180,000 miles on it. Bought it used 20 years ago and will not part with it unless it explodes on me!...

I bought 05 4cyl accord coupe on stick with 183k, now it has 294k and still runs great. And I changed oil every 10,000 miles (fully synthetic).

At this number of miles, reduce the oil change interval to 5000 miles, please. It will increase the life span significantly.

Fyi- Scotty Killmore just bought a Honda with the same "J" engine that the 6 cyl. Accord has.
    Why?
    Because it's that good!

Not really. Its just a solid car overall. My car has close too 300k miles. Still original water pump, original coolant, tranny fluid replaced only once. 2005 accord in particular best one to get. 2003-2004 has only 2 airbags, 2006-2007 is drive by wire. 2005 is 6 airbags plus drive by cable. Lx with steel wheels handles better than upper models with alloy. Anyways its just a very very well build car.
