When you really consider it, "brain" is a matter of perspective. Oz even says as much even after being revealed as fraud. Sometimes, the actual "brain" we need is a fraction of common sense.
This does raise the question of whether or not Fiyero and Boq recognized each other. Though to be fair Fiyero Probably only remembers him as “ that guy who was crushing on Galinda” or “Nessarose’s boyfriend”

Allegedly the musical was inspired by the creators friends drunk ramblings about the book, which is explains why they’re so different (the book is batshit insane and it is genuinely baffling that Wicked the musical would not have happened without it)
In the book he wasn’t the Scarecrow at all. Elphaba imagined he was because she was full on crazy by that point. Fiyero died a rather terrible death involving diarrhea and murder.

Now, all we need is to see is ScareFiyero! being ABSOLUTELY awestruck by Elphaba when she's on that house, and when she said "Wanna play ball, Scarecrow?" he gets the ABSOLUTELY BEATING OF HIS LIFE DUE TO HIS HOT, GOTH GIRLFRIEND 💀💀 (also, I want to see ScareFiyero get flashbacks to As Long As You're Mine to when Elphaba throws that fireball at him lol)

She didn't want to go to the dance with him because she'd rather go with the good looking Fiyero, so she told him to ask Nessarose, Witch of the East and Elphaba's sister, to the dance because she's in a wheelchair. Boq, the Tin Man did it to show Glenda how kind he was so he could one day date her. When Nessa was able to walk, he tried to leave, admitting he was only be her side because Glenda told him to and now he was going to go for Glenda, despite Glenda announcing her engagement to a reluctant Fiyero, who is in love with Elphaba. Nessa cursed him to keep his heart to herself, but it was Elphaba who turned him into the Tin Man. Before anyone asks, I saw the stage play 16 years ago as a birthday present from my sister. Maybe the stage production was different in other theaters, but that's how it was played when I saw it. So, sorry if the play you saw didn't have it or you only saw the movie, which I won't go see because I wouldn't be able to hold in my singing. I will wait for a streaming service to play it.

The other has to play pretend villain in order to reunite with her loved one and just found out her beloved sister died in hit and drop accident, likely set up by munchkins.

I do feel like the film intentionally gave as many club goes as they could pull off wacky ass hats by our standards to make it clear her hat vein considered exceptionally goofy is mostly a perception thing

I don't know why, but this just reminded me of when my brothers were a part of a high school production of _The Wiz._ I remember them telling me about the Dorothy and Tin Man romantic subplot that had been cut out of the production, including a scene that was just the two of them staring at each other romantic/sexual tension.
It's one of my favorite facts to bring up is in the original novel, the wicked witch enchanted the woodman's axe to cut off each of his limbs every time he swung it. He had each part replaced until he became the tin man. It's needlessly dark and over dramatic for a kids' book.
If the lion that attacked me started apologizing, I’d have a hard time forgiving him too and an even harder time convincing my friends to forgive it. Also I was wrong about the Tinman.
Here this might make more sense It was cowardly for the lion to attack easy pray since he’s a lot bigger and stronger than a literal scarecrow. Also in the books he attacks Toto who is a small dog

I don’t think the movie would have gotten that far into the storyline since it’s split into two parts, they probably ended it on Defying Gravity
