"Oils may not be the holy grail product the natural community makes it out to be" gurrrrrllll. Truth truth and TRUTH. I stopped oiling my scalp just made my scalp itchy
I know you posted this...4 years ago but ..girl honest you have help me..and EVERYONE who suffers with this condition. For so long I wonder why I was so broken and wasted so much money since I was 16... it really did so much to my self esteem. I really messed up because I was listening to youtubers with the big natural hair obsession with oils and DROWING my hair in oil and making it worse and just crying. Even after a while- my hair just started to suffer so I just put it away in a bun..having more and more bad hair days... I have found out I have inflammatory issues and I have realized this a decade later but I lost a lot of hair in the process... I cant even do most protective styles now bc my scalp was so...sensitive and now not very dense anymore. aha So I am going to check out your channel and see what I can do for my hair. I am so happy to find someone like me
I found that my hair love when I oil them with minimal amount of oil, with not so heavy oil like macadamia or grapeseed oil. I also spray tea tree oil and peppermint oil with water on my scalp and that's how I manage very well.
Back when I have no knowledge on what seborrheic dermatitis is, I use coconut oil + olive oil ONE TIME ONLY, thinking it would "heal" the scaly patch and lessen the itch. Boy was I wrong, it just flare up everything, 10 times worse that the scale patches reaches all over my back. I always find myself waking up at 3am scratching my head AND now my back. I would wake up, blood all over my pillow and the back of my shirt 🙃💔
Has anyone noticed that you didn’t have these scalp issues until you went natural? I’ve been natural since 2014, and my hair and scalp is the worse it’s ever been. Even though my hair was thinning some with relaxers, I didn’t have scalp issues. And my hair grew then. Now, I have scalp eczema, my hair breaks easy, can’t keep it moisturized, and it won’t grow. It’s so fragile. Sometimes I feel like just shaving it all off.
That's true. I believe it's partly because as naturals we feel like we have to pile on a bunch of product which we didn't do when relaxed. That just adds extra oils and increases inflammation on the scalp
@@NaturallyNishy I think so too. All this goop we put on our hair to create a “look” just suffocates our scalp. I’m trying to keep it simple. Just a leave-in and a cream styler. No oils. I may even start skipping the leave-in. I think it’s just too much.
@@tarjibroomfield8458 that's exactly what I've been doing for the most part... unless I want a particular look for an occasion. I hope you find some relief 🤗
Stopped oily my scalp 3 weeks ago. Totally changed my scalp. No morre itchy scalp!!!! Even my hair feels ligher. I just use grapeseed oil evey other day on my locks.
I have SD . I no longer have flakes due to oils but I still have itching . I tried no oil and the itching was terrible. With minimal oil ( jojoba, almond , argan , neem oil with ayuverda) , the itching is minimal . SD is really hard to manage. I AVOID leaving oleic rich oil on my scalp.
It is definitely very difficult to manage and it's a lot of trial and error. I hope you find your sweet spot eventually that makes it easier for you and hopefully eliminates the itching
I am going through the same thing. I have found that Sulfur 8 does not irritate my scalp. I DO NOT apply this to my scalp every day. I only apply after I have washed with NIzoral shampoo and conditioned my hair. I am a curly girl and definitely need that extra moisture. Only wash 2x a week. If you need to apply hair products for added moisture, most definitely avoid your scalp area and only apply towards the ends of your hair. My dermatologist prescribed me Betamethasone Dipropionate lotion for my scalp which has helped with the severe itching. I am also perimenopausal, so i definitely had to change my diet as my hormonal imbalance also contributes to my scalp/skin issues. No dairy. No sugar. No gluten.
Hair: Natural, Traditional Locs Lifestyle: Minimal Stress I was provided an oil blend as a Christmas gift. Unfortunately, it caused my scalp to respond with dandruff and a smelly residue. I decided to forego the oil (as I wasn't oiling my scalp previously) and washed with Trader Joe's tea tree shampoo and conditioner. I followed up with a tea tree water mix that I sprayed onto my scalp. So far... so good. My scalp feels refreshed and clean. If there is any dryness, as tea tree can be drying, I will use coconut oil but only 2x a month or less.
Im starting to learn oils are not good for my scalp. i started my loc journey and when I apply oil my scalp gets clumps of " dandruff" ( likes second skin) two days later
Thank you sis!!! OMFG I went through trial and error over and over for a year half. Went to derm and prescribed 3 medications thought it cleared, put some castor oil... chil, I tell ya my flare up was serious!! Thanks for the video
Yeah sis... Oils aren't there be all end all as everyone makes it out to be in the natural hair community. Glad the video helped and thanks for watching 😊💜
I’m convinced for me castor oil is the devil when I say the itch is real with it and it seems to make my head flare up like no other So glad I found this video Oh and I have pcos
My tween daughter’s dermatologist told me NOT to use olive oil on her scalp because it feeds the yeast/fungi. She recommended Royal Oils shampoo for her scalp and I follow it with a moisturizing shampoo. Wash day is every two weeks. I mix 1 part castor oil, 2 parts almond oil with 10 drops of tea tree oil for her scalp especially when it’s in braids and twists. I have noticed a huge difference.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I have currently stopped using any oils on my scalp as I think it might be making my condition worse. I learnt a lot form this video and appreciate you sharing this useful information.
This is so true! I normally never oil my scalp but started oiling lately and sis, my scalp has been on fire, tons of flakes and flare ups! My scalp does NOT like oils periodt!
girl same ! i’ve never oiled my scalp ever and i decided to follow this little trend of oiling my scalp and my scalp went crazy.. i don’t know why i decided to try oiling my scalp.. our hair products have so many oils in them already, it’s not necessary for us to oil the crap out of our scalps like some of these major youtubers try to encourage us to do !
I have the same issues. What has worked for me and others is the probiotic soap. Use it before your shampoo and let it sit on your scalp for at least 10mins. Then proceed with your wash day routine. You will notice a huge difference in your scalp the second time you use it. www.amazon.com/Three-Bars-Candida-Freedom-Probiotic/dp/B003TPCCWW
@@Nikkicoral what products do you use to shampoo and condition ? Do you prepoo or use hot oil treatments ? If so what order is your routine for wash day please
@@MysteriousPrincess22 It depends on how my hair feels before I wash it. If it’s dry I use olive oil or avocado oil before, I use the probiotic soap. Keep in mind The soap is very drying. After I wash with the probiotic soap, I use the African pride moisture miracle honey chocolate shampoo and conditioner. Or I use the OrS hydrating olive oil shampoo. I always deep condition with the ORS replenishing conditioner and essential oils . You could use (eucalyptus, peppermint, tea tree, lavender and sweet orange oils).
Hey girl great video. Oils don't work for me either. Glycerin has been a game changer for me....it is not an oil so i don't get a response . It's also a humectant so it attracts moisture to your scalp and hair...its especially useful as I have relaxed hair as it help make my new growth soft and manageable. When my dandruff as bad.... I used keto plus shampoo only on my scalp. Massaged it and Left it on my scalp for 20-30 mins ..and when I tell you...by the second wash I saw no flakes. I used Glycerin to moisturize my scalp every other day and to my weekly deep conditioning treatments...you sound Trinidadian... looking forward to more videos . Bye!
Hey hun yes I'm trini... are you from there as well? I've never thought to use glycerin on my scalp, that's an interesting idea. I have to investigate that for myself. I love the keto plus shampoo for when my flare ups are really bad as well. Thanks so much for sharing and for watching the video 💜
@@NaturallyNishy yes I am union hall sando to be exact. Glycerin on my midshaft to ends then top it off with a moisturiser and seal with a frizz control serum . I came about using Glycerin when I found out how drying dandruff shampoo can be and was doing some research about how to maintain moisture after my wash days. And I never went back! Have a great day!
@@lazulibastet3727 ayeee I'm.in sando as well. I was just wondering if using glycerin doesn't cause your hair to frizz but I guess the serum would help with that. Glad to hear you have a working system. Have a great day as well.
This is such a refreshing video and so necessary! 🏆🥇 I have eczema and my scalp is also oil averse so now I stick to teas and aloe juice.😁👍🏽 My scalp is so much happier! 🤗❣
Yesss!! I'm so happy I figured this out about myself. My scalp is way happier as well. Those 2 products are actually what I'm using as well. They work much better
@Hannah A....Oh wow this comment got lost in the notifications. I'm so sorry. I don't currently use anything on my scalp. I have started washing my hair more frequently to avoid the build up of oils on my scalp which cause the irritation. That's been working so far. Also I manage my diet avoiding those foods that cause my flare ups like sugar, dairy and nuts
@@bestlife5553 I steep herbs like nettle, neem, moringa and fenugreek in aloe juice over night, then strain. I put the resulting "tea" in a spray bottle and spritz my scalp, then follow with I little massage. Most folks make oil infusions, but my scalp isn't fond of oils. It can work for almost any herb. I hope this helps! 🤗❣
Hey thanks for watching. Since I'm not using oils in my hair which tends to seal in the moisture and prevent how fast your hair dries out, I'll wash it more frequently so like twice per week. That way my wash day isn't super far away that my moisture doesn't last until the next time I wash. After I wash my hair I do apply my leave in/moisturizer while I'm in the shower and follow up with a gel or a cream styler depending on what I'm doing. Since we've been in quarantine I've been doing two flat twists and I wear that for 3-4 days until my next wash day and my hair is still always moisturized when I take them down. I hope that answers your question and that it helps you out. Also if I don't get around to washing my hair after 3-4 days does to my schedule, I'll just remoisturize using the same products. I'll link my wash day routine video in case you wanna check it out ua-cam.com/video/ABpkyAlB2tM/v-deo.html I'm hoping to do a week in my natural hair video soon so be sure to turn on post notifications to see when it drops
Thank you for this! Oil in NOT my friend. I found that Candida Freedom Probiotic soap the lemon one is really good for my hair line when I have an outbreak. I wash my face with it a few times a day and it helps control the flare ups.
I didnt have it till I went natural either. I think it's because of all the heavy products and oils i started using. Relaxed hair never needed all of that. I'm glad you found the info helpful!
@@callmesupreme1533 nope not at all. Anytime I do my scalp gets really inflamed. I tried doing prepoos since I'd be washing it out and even that was a bad idea
Idk how I stumbled on you or this but BIBLEEEEE. Listen I have ras and I started using oils and that ruined my hair. I put nothing on my scalp now and whew child ... clean scalp gal. You are preaching.
I can only wash my hair once a week at most. I really don't have time to wash two times a week. I just don't know what to do anymore. I don't know if I have SD or scalp psoriasis but either way, it's a huge pain in the ass.
I completely understand. I was once there as well. What helped me apart from cleansing my scalp more frequently was not applying product of any kind to my scalp. Additionally drinking more water and changing my diet (reducing inflammatory foods like sugar, dairy and nuts) has really helped my condition. Also anytime I had a flare up ACV really helps to loosen the flakes, clean your scalp and bring it back to it's slightly acidic pH. It also helps to check a dermatologist to know for sure what you're dealing with. While they may be similar, they have different levels of treatment I really hope this helps you out
@@NaturallyNishy Yeah thanks. I've recently started using ACV, but I don't think I was seeing significant results becuase I would do an oil treatment on my scalp right after every wash. The more you know 🤷♀️
This is me! Just got diagnosed yesterday. I'm so disappointed because I love my oils but it makes my scalp sore and itchy. Aloe vera doesn't really respond well for me but I've never tried it on my scalp. Do you still use oil at least on your hair. I've made also rosemary spritz as my edges have thinned so bad from this
Oh no I'm so sorry to hear that. I don't use oils at all but I have hear many ladies leave comments saying that they were able to use oils still. Everyone is different so you may have to play around with it, talk to your doctor and see what can be done. I hope you find a solution that works for you soon him. It just takes a bit of trial and error. Best of luck 💛
@@nicegyrl1 I have a video on it but just to summarize I put ayurvedic herbs in a bowl (henna, amla, fenugreek, aloe vera, marshmallow root) and I steep it in hot water and then strain into a spray bottle and that's what I use instead of plain water to refresh or moisturize my hair.
oh i cannot touch shampoo n conditioner right now... m just using retha, shikakai, yogurt, neem, honey, ACV etc... n not applying oil as that will make me use shampoo n my scalp is set on fire with chemicals... i use alovera to calm the scalp down after hair wash m doing atleast every alternate day wash while switching up products in each use
I like certain oils. Especially essential oils. Shea butter helps my sebbhorric dermatitis too. I noticed the BIGGEST relief in my sebbhorric dermatitis scalp when I STOPPED USING SHAMPOO! All I use is WATER- that's it! Big game changer! I don't use any styling products either so i don't really need to shampoo anyways. Yall should try it see if it works for you like it does for me.
@@NaturallyNishy I have thick wavy hair so I just let it air dry in the day time after I shower and braid it at night to sleep with. I use a lil shea butter or argan oil on ends or to tame the frizz. That's it.
Like you sugar and dairy are trIggers. Now, I add a few drops of clove bud oil to my scalp scrub and it controls flare ups by killing the yeast. Some people use miconazole nitrate cream on their scalp. It’s a challenge keeping scalp clean without drying out my hair. Just switched to Aloe Vera juice as a moisturizer. It seems to be working well.
I'm going through a flare up as I type. I always had problems with my scalp but noticed since becoming natural ( over 5 years ago) it became worse with itchy, crawly sensations, burning and sensitive scalp and dry hair. I don't buy a lot of store bought hair products and tend to make my own DIYs hair products. I will use a clarifying shampoo or clay mask when needed. Last year, I changed my oils up from using olive oil, coconut oil and or castor oil to using grapeseed, almond, coconut, safflower and or avocado oils (I mostly add these oils in my DIYs). In addition, I use aloe vera (plant), avocado, coconut milk and ACV (apple cider vinegar) in my regimen often-- Still, I have these flare ups! I think it is due to medications and health issues I have... Therefore, I realized it will be an ongoing battle for some of us!! #sign
Oh no! I hope you get past this flare up soon...have you ever tried not using oils though? You said you switched them out but maybe for a bit try not using it at all and see how that works out for you
@@NaturallyNishy Yes, but my scalp was flared so it felt like it was on fire. I had to use coconut milk (lDIY leave-in conditioner) and coconut oil to sooth it. I tried not to use oils off and on the past two years but I'm afraid to leave it alone completely (I'm high porosity with fine strands and medium density).
Hey hun...I'm also high porosity with fine strands and medium density and leaving oils alone was the best decision for my scalp. Putting it on your hair is debatable but for sure leaving my scalp clean and breathable was the best decision I made
@@NaturallyNishy I do suffer with stomach issues,. I'm lactose intolerance (dairy) and have fibromyalgia. Oh, I'm allergic to peanuts too. lately been suffering with vitamin D deficiency as well as type 2 diabetes. I'm working on my health, but still have scalp and hair issues.
What do you use to moisturize your hair? I have SD and my scalp gets very itchy from oils. I use ACV rinses it been helping. But if i dont oil my scalp or put oils in my hair what should i do for moisturizing hair?
Honestly ppl like us with SD have an uphill battle with moisture. Even harder if you have high porosity hair. For me, moisturizing my hair starts in the shower. I make sure I cleanse really well to remove build up and allow my hair to accept the moisture from my deep conditioner. When I rinse that out, I apply my products on soaking wet hair and style. I layer moisturizing products since we can't use oil, so leave in/moisturizer and styler, making sure to avoid my scalp. I often wash my hair twice a week to repeat the moisturizing process as well as to cleanse my scalp and keep the flakes at bay especially since I exercise a lot. Hope that answers your question. Lemme know if you have any other questions. And thanks for watching 💜
Thank you so much for the video. I have seborrheic dermatitis as well, and my scalp hates oils. I didn't realize that until I tried argan oil on my hair. So bad. Lol. 😆
Yayyy somebody like me finally! When i just went natural ppl wud use olive oil, tea tree oil etc and id wonder whyy theyd use it n get no flare ups but me...id itcj fr dayss, no matter how much i washed my hair id itch, scratch, my scalp wud bleed it ws awful. I use baking soda nw cuz esp when i workout the sweat plus the oils...chille its a mess but baking soda keeps the oiliness at bay without having to wash my hair every week to remove the excess oils
Thank you so much for this. I was prescribed tea tree oil but every time I applied the flakes and itching were out of this world. I tried so many different brands of tea tree...same results. But the aloe vera! Heaven calmed it much better. I still have dryness but the flake sizes have reduced tremendously.
Yes!! I had a terrible reaction to tea tree oil. Used it once and never again. Aloe vera is the truth for me. Similarly to you I still have dryness from time to time but I don't have those large plaques lifting off of my scalp anymore. Those days are gone since I stopped applying oils to my scalp. I low key want to test to see if it's only certain oils I'm sensitive to but I'm scared to even risk it. So for right now I'll use other ingredients
I tried it, I didn't see that it worked. I got thos new perscribtion from the doctor it is called Clobetasol propion. Its for your scalp, It works SO well. Oh my goodness I will mever not use it. I use it after I wash my hair and literally only MAYBE have to use it bi-weekly. It is the only thing I have gotten that works after all these years of suffering. A friend of mine told me about it and I told my doctor I would like to try it.
This is for me!!! Now I have locs and I just got my hair done... How do I keep moisture in? And where can I find aloe vera powder? Thank you so much!!!
I'm not sure if locs react differently to loose natural hair n terms of retaining moisture so I'm probably not the best person to advise you on that. As for the aloe vera powder, I got my from Henna Trinidad. If you're not in Trinidad, you can get it online from Amazon but I also know hennasooq supplies it as well. hennasooq.com/organic-aloe-vera-powder/
I tried using a salicylic acid serum for my seborrheic dermatitis and I haven't had the overwhelming amount of flakes and itchiness for about a year now
ua-cam.com/video/Q2ilSJbOQ8s/v-deo.html Hey sis. It's not actually tea. It's an infusion is ayurvedic herbs. I linked the video above so you can check it out. Hope it helps 💜
Thankyou! Thankyou! Thankyou! My dermatitis is out of control. I'm natural as well. These are great tips. What kind of shampoo and conditioner do you use and what brand?
Thanks for watching! 💛 Right now for shampoo I use the ORS aloe shampoo and the ORS replenishing conditioner. Some days when my hair flares up I'll do the ACV diluted on my scalp prior to washing and that helps a lot. Hope this helps!
I'm so glad I came across this video. It describes my hair situation to a tee. I just learned about candida freedom probiotic soap (lemon). Has anyone tried this?
@@bestlife5553 i tried it but it didn't really help my dry scalp/flakes. Possibly I didn't give it enough of a try?. The blue Sea breeze worked the best tho. It lifts the flakes and cleans the scalp. My problem is then getting the flakes out of my curly hair. Im constantly checking if I have lifted flakes around my hairline. Its embarrassing 😳
Yeah it is really annoying. Both my brother and I have it but our mom doesn't so maybe it skipped a generation 🙃 But I'm glad you found something that works
I have PCOS and the smell from when the scales flake and it is puss-ing is the worst thing in the world for me. I tried avocado oil and it made it worse. Do you think I should avoid grease as well? I was thinking of using a few greases together just to keep my scalp and hair hydrated.... it is soooo dry 🤦🏽♀️
I was diagnosed with PCOS as well. I wouldn't advise to put grease either because the petroleum may just make matters worse, similar to the oil. If you're getting puss and a smell, I advise you check a dermatologist. I know we're in quarantine and that might be difficult right at this moment. So maybe try going to a pharmacy and talking to the pharmacist in the meanwhile. They might be able to give you something for faster relief. My advice in the long term is to try to figure out the external triggers for your scalp issue. Mine was sugar, dairy and nuts. When I reduced those foods from my diet I saw a marked improvement in my scalp. I still get flakes from time to time depending on what I eat or what I use in my hair but it's no where close to how bad it was. As for your dry scalp try using aloe vera juice/gel and spritzing that on your scalp. I use aloe vera powder weekly in my deep treatments and that helps as well. I also recently started using neem powder and so far I like it so maybe putting that in the aloe vera juice and applying in your scalp can help. Doing diluted ACV rinses also help with the flakiness and itching. Hope that helps!
Naturally Nishy thank you I will try some of these methods. I’ve actually already been to two dermatologists and they weren’t any help, aside from prescribe keto_____ shampoo and that didn’t even work. Now I’m just searching for holistic methods because I dont know what else to do. It went away for about 4 months but now it’s back again so I’ve just been using t-sal shampoo and sulfur 8 shampoo/ ointment. I’m gonna try the aloe and acv this week and see if anything changes. Thank you so much for replying 💜
I used that keto shampoo. It did nothing but dry out my hair. The key is to find your triggers though. That made the biggest difference for me long term cuz like you I didn't want to be stuck on steroid creams for life, even though they work well. The aloe and acv will help but they're short term as well.
My daughter has PCOS as well and her doctor prescribed the same medicated shampoo as well (only on 2nd day). Has anyone else had tremendous hair shedding/loss? Her hair was down her back. It now is shoulder length and is still thinning. 😭 Last week I noticed 2 bald spots. Too soon to tell if the shampoo will work.
So if we can’t use oils because of SD what else can we use to keep our hair moist and soft because water alone and tea tree oil on the scalp leaves hair dry
Well you can use your moisturizers and leave ins on the length of your hair as normal. I just don't apply it to my scalp because I flare up. I let the natural sebum do its thing and make sure to wash my hair once a week so get rid of build up, sebum and dirt from throughout the week.
So glad I came across your video. I oiled my scalp with an oil mix and my scalp is on fire and had been an itchy sore mess. Definitely going to give the oils a break and see what happens.
I think I have this or maybe just dry scalp but I stopped putting oil in my hair and so far so good. I have oily skin so MAYBE my scalp naturally produces oil at a good rate, no idea just guessing. Lol I just use tea tree oil and water
Hey...I have never intentionally sprayed undiluted aloe vera juice on my scalp but I have used it as part of my ayurvedic tea spritz which I do put on my scalp to promote hair growth and I haven't had any negative reactions. Aloe vera is supposed to be a very healing ingredient so I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you've had a negative reactions to it previously.
No I have stopped using oils perioddddtt as the young ppl say these days lol. It does me no good at all. I don't prepoo, LOC, LCO, hot oil treatment...nothing. even recently I tried an edge control that had a lot of oils (which I didn't realise) and that flared up my scalp as well so I'm good on the oil front
That's actually a great suggestion and it can work depending on the products I've used. If I've done a wash and go with lots of gel, sometimes I find that my scalp doesn't get clean enough and I end up "scratching" my scalp to remove buildup. So I figure if I have to do all that I might as well use shampoo instead. But it is something I'm playing around with. Maybe I need to leave it on my scalp longer to assist in the cleansing properties. Thanks so much for the suggestion hun 💛
Oh no! Have you checked out a dermatologist. When I had it on my face they prescribed steroid creams that I used in the short term and they worked really well. Ever since I figured out my triggers I haven't had that patchiness on my skin for years now. I still battle with my scalp from time to time though.
I must say that my case is similar to yours, I get flare ups when I consume sugar and milk. But I love milk. 🤷🏽♀️ I use aloe as well as flaxseed gel on my scalp
The crazy thing for me is if i'm not drinking regular milk, I'm drinking almond milk which is nut based. I feel like I cant win. I tried rice milk and oat milk but they are disgusting lol. I tried flaxseed once but I don't think my hair likes it at all. Aloe works amazingly though. Thank you so much for watching
@@ramonajacobs9402 I purchase aloe powder from a company called henna trinidad. You can find them on Amazon as well. I also sometimes use fresh aloe that I grow at home. Hope that helps
Thanks for the video! I got my seb derm diagnosis about a year ago, and have learned so much about different ways to keep it under control. We use a lot of the same methods--washing twice a week (I use ketoconazole, prescribed), using apple cider vinegar to rinse, and avoiding oil like the plague. Tea tree oil happens to be okay for me, but I dilute it with water and rinse it out thoroughly. Very grateful to be in remission for a few months now. The most comprehensive resource I've found so far is the Simple Skincare Science blog. I agree that the same methods don't work for everyone, but that website has a LOT of info and may be helpful to a few people. As far as I know, the author doesn't have much info on natural hair specifically, but like I said, could be helpful for some! I haven't explored the diet aspect of taking care of my skin, but I think the blog has a post about that as well. Another website I've found is sezia.co, which is mainly for checking if products have ingredients that could cause flare ups. Good luck to all of you struggling with this condition! It's a pain, but don't give up trying to manage it.
Hear what you problem is a fungal infection, of the scalp ,know as seborrheic dermatitis, or scalp psoriasis, or scalp ringworm, scientific name tinea capititist ok not excessive oil build up please visit a dermatologist like I did stop blaming the oils after I did I was given antifungal medication in both tablet form and shampoo after this Iwas cured , I now us a shampoo that I made with aloes plant and nine different oil and I also made my own hair gel using shea butter and nine different oils I am totally cured of this fungal infection on my scalp
I'm glad you found what works for you. That's great! As you would know not every individual is the same. I have been to a dermatologist (several actually) and I know exactly what I was diagnosed with (same diagnosis by each) as indicated by the title of the video. I've had my fair share of shampoos, medications, steroid creams, you name it, I've been prescribed. None of those things worked long term. Since I started avoiding oils and finding my triggers (therefore being better able to reduce and/or avoid them), I haven't had flare ups like I used to even when I was on those expensive Dermatologist prescribed medications. Thanks for the advice though.
The video was very informative but her vibe is just so off. (no hate at All )It made me wanna exit every 2 mins. Try to be a bit more lively and excited in order to have ur audience excited to watch ur vid; but other than that props on the vid xo

@@NaturallyNishy Thank you. Me too! ☺️
So true i agree with you .
As I am ....the blue line helps a lot. Also, I am trying to completely cut out dairy. It's hard...I love ice cream and mac & cheese.
Thank the lord I found this video !!!! Omgggg I been loading my hair with so much oils !!! I can’t wait to keep watching your hair videos !! 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
Honestly it's what we've been taught for so long. That's why I made these videos so we can all learn from each other
I read that Mct oil, mineral oil, and vitamin E oil does not feed the fungus
I’m 6 months loc’d so I’ll be adding those to my wash days!!!
No dairy. No sugar. No gluten.
Hair: Natural, Traditional Locs
Lifestyle: Minimal Stress
I was provided an oil blend as a Christmas gift.
Yeah it's not great for everyone
Thank you sis!!! OMFG I went through trial and error over and over for a year half. Went to derm and prescribed 3 medications thought it cleared, put some castor oil... chil, I tell ya my flare up was serious!! Thanks for the video
Yeah sis... Oils aren't there be all end all as everyone makes it out to be in the natural hair community. Glad the video helped and thanks for watching 😊💜
I’m convinced for me castor oil is the devil when I say the itch is real with it and it seems to make my head flare up like no other
So glad I found this video
Oh and I have pcos
My tween daughter’s dermatologist told me NOT to use olive oil on her scalp because it feeds the yeast/fungi. She recommended Royal Oils shampoo for her scalp and I follow it with a moisturizing shampoo. Wash day is every two weeks. I mix 1 part castor oil, 2 parts almond oil with 10 drops of tea tree oil for her scalp especially when it’s in braids and twists. I have noticed a huge difference.
That's great! I'm so happy you've found a routine that works. Tea tree oil has given me the biggest flare up I've ever had. I'm glad it works for her.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I have currently stopped using any oils on my scalp as I think it might be making my condition worse. I learnt a lot form this video and appreciate you sharing this useful information.

Yesss they definitely aren't for everyone sis. Glad you figured it out
girl same ! i’ve never oiled my scalp ever and i decided to follow this little trend of oiling my scalp and my scalp went crazy.. i don’t know why i decided to try oiling my scalp.. our hair products have so many oils in them already, it’s not necessary for us to oil the crap out of our scalps like some of these major youtubers try to encourage us to do !
I have not oiled my scalp for years. My scalp thanks me. Definitely heavy oils is a trigger.
I have the same issues. What has worked for me and others is the probiotic soap.
Use it before your shampoo and let it sit on your scalp for at least 10mins. Then proceed with your wash day routine. You will notice a huge difference in your scalp the second time you use it.

Hey girl great video. Oils don't work for me either. Glycerin has been a game changer for me....it is not an oil so i don't get a response . @monniej how do you use the tea and aloe for your scalp? What kind of tea? Thanks.
@Hannah A....Oh wow this comment got lost in the notifications. I'm so sorry. I don't currently use anything on my scalp. I hope this helps! 🤗❣
I never heard this but it’s what I’ve been doing & my scalp is off the chain!! That’s for the info!!!
Glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching
What do you do to keep your hair moisturized after you've washed it and between washes?
I'll link my wash day routine video in case you wanna check it out

While they may be similar, they have different levels of treatment
I really hope this helps you out
@@NaturallyNishy Yeah thanks. I've recently started using ACV, but I don't think I was seeing significant results becuase I would do an oil treatment on my scalp right after every wash. The more you know 🤷♀️

#sign

I used that keto shampoo. It did nothing but dry out my hair. The key is to find your triggers though. That made the biggest difference for me long term cuz like you I didn't want to be stuck on steroid creams for life, even though they work well. The aloe and acv will help but they're short term as well.
Naturally Nishy got it I think im gonna go to an allergist as well. Thanks again!
My daughter has PCOS as well and her doctor prescribed the same medicated shampoo as well (only on 2nd day). Has anyone else had tremendous hair shedding/loss? Her hair was down her back. It now is shoulder length and is still thinning. 😭
Last week I noticed 2 bald spots.

Hi, do you spray aloe Vera juice on your scalp or just your hair?
Hey...I have never intentionally sprayed undiluted aloe vera juice on my scalp but I have used it as part of my ayurvedic tea spritz which I do put on my scalp to promote hair growth and I haven't had any negative reactions. Aloe vera is supposed to be a very healing ingredient so I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you've had a negative reactions to it previously.
Do you prepoo at all with oils, I do for a few hours and wash it off but maybe I should just stop with oil altogether on my hair
Can you write the ingredients because I am not good at English?
you could use an apple cider rinse on your scalp mid week for your wash?
That's actually a great suggestion and it can work depending on the products I've used. If I've done a wash and go with lots of gel, sometimes I find that my scalp doesn't get clean enough and I end up "scratching" my scalp to remove buildup. So I figure if I have to do all that I might as well use shampoo instead. But it is something I'm playing around with. Maybe I need to leave it on my scalp longer to assist in the cleansing properties.
Thanks so much for the suggestion hun 💛

Is the aloe vera a gel? Or oil
It's aloe vera powder that I bought from a supplier called Henna Trinidad.
I love your accent. Thank you for your post very informative. #ineededthis
You are so welcome. Thank you as well. I'm from Trinidad and Tobago so that's the accent you're hearing lol
Do you use a scalp massager?
I used to but then I got lazy. I still have it tho. Just haven't picked it up in maybe 2yrs 🙈🤷🏿♀️

Omg she just named all the places I have it 🤦🏾♀️
Didn’t know what was going on with my ears and nose.
Yeah it's definitely so annoying 🙄
Have you ever tried or heard of Caprylic Acid soft gel pills?
I heard they balance out the overgrowth of yeast.
@@tresehuff hmmm no I haven't heard of that but I'll look into it. Thank u so much 💜
My flakes were so bad I went bald and I kept getting staph infections
Oh no...I'm so sorry to hear about that. I hope you're doing better now
@@NaturallyNishy I'm doing so much better now. My hair and scalp look so great right now. Thank you
@@Serenityblu23 I'm so happy to hear that 💜
Watching this I’m seeing my 13 year old is showing signs of this. 😟
Try Biom8...it s great deal.
What types of nuts cause your flare ups?
I've noticed it with cashews and peanuts. Honestly that's been enough for me to limit my intake of all of them
Once you said having PCOS can cause seborrheic dermatitis - I was like OH this makes sense for me!! No wonder. Stupid hormones!!!!!
Yeah it's so annoying!!! The things we women have to go through
Caprilyic acid
