  • Two separate jobs joined into one video - stripping a 2006 SC1000 head to be sent out for k-lines and seat facing, and then putting valve stem seals and refitting the rockers into my 2013 Monster 659 head.
Turns out there's some differences that I wasn't aware of before I started. It would appear 2013 model year marked a few changes across the DS style engines, although some of this may have occurred earlier. I don't have many of these engines this far apart, so sometimes you don't get to see consecutive years for a definitive timeline of continual changes. So it's just a case of keeping your eyes open when pulling them apart, and taking notes or photos to help you remember. Or shoot some video ensuring you have no good reason to screw it up other than believing you know it all. Nice to be reminded once in a while to pull your head in and pay attention.
My other DS style valve clearance adjustment and other head rambling videos as below:

If you wish to ask a question about this video, please start with specific info about what you're asking. Model and year at the very least. If you make me guess, I'll not bother.
I do Ducati only, so no point asking a Honda question.

Yup. Heavier springs began at the Evo era I believe. I have such issues measuring closer clearance because of it on my Evo.

Any preference between the 1000 and 1100DS cam reliability/longevity wise?
I know there are not interchangeable due to the different LH journal but I imagine Ducati have changed the design for a reason.

Gracias. Los hago cuando los separo, pero eso se debe principalmente a que la gente de la culata los necesita fuera del camino para hacer líneas k, etc. Es muy raro que uno falle en el servicio como tal y necesite reemplazo.
