Would you trust these landing legs!? This is for entertainment I don’t recommend you guys buying these and trying it! Risky and heart skips a beat! Fun tho but don’t do it 😂
I'm guessing these cut down the flight time considerably and makes the drone more unstable in the air if there is any wind at all. I actually considered buying them when I first bought the mini3pro, as I wanted to take it kayaking, but they just seem too flimsy/unstable and I'd rather start/stop from my hand. It'll be a hard pass for me, thanks.
I bought these in Thailand last year from Lazada and got slated for them. Everyone saying the drone would be unstable and it’ll sink if I hit the water at the wrong angle. I no longer have the mini 3 so I’ll stick them up on marketplace or an auction site.
Brave man!!! Cheers for the review. Have often wondered about this but never had the courage to buy them and test!!! I do a lot of drone footage from my boat and landing the drone on a boat is always a challenge. This would give me another option. I could land it in the water and scoop it up with my net. I think you have to have very calm water though. Anywaves and I think this would fail. Did they affect the drone in flight at all?
Apart from the fact that this would decrease flight time, stability, and I'm pretty sure also make it illegal to use, and you'd also need a licence for as that weighs over a gram. 🙃
I bought a set of these for the Mini and I used them quite a lot. The problem is with more wind, they tend to drift off much more due to the greater surface area. I put them on not to land or take off on water, but as you said, in case something happens I can recover the drone and hopefully the memory card. I never used them really. I will try them on the Mini 2 I have and see how they go. I am always nervous flying over water :) But I love it anyway.
I appreciate that you offered, “This is for entertainment.” I was entertained, Darren, and I am glad you had fun, but as a result of one of your previous videos saying “if you have a Mini 3 Pro, you are going to want a Mavic 3 Classic,” I am saving up to buy the M3 Classic and I don’t want to risk sending my Mini 3 Pro for a swimming lesson. Cheers from Wisconsin, USA.
Lol I was tempted to get these for the Mini 2 last year for my kayak fishing escapades but never pulled the trigger. You got some courage putting them on the Mini 3 Pro. Lol. Your reaction was hilarious man. Like a kid at Christmas. I know the feeling. Hahaha
I live on a little lake that is often calm and am interested in using floats to be able to film some of the beautiful waterfowl who sometimes float around. Flowering lily's and such too. Am sure you don't dare try to yaw it left and right? How about the gimbal, can you at least move that while floating?
I fly a Mavic Air 2 for work and Id like to get a drone for personal use. I am stuck on the Mini 3 Pro, Mini 3, Mini 2 or the Mavic Air 2 from the refurbished section on the DJI store. What do you think I should go for?
Nice accessory, like the video giving it a try. Like all other add on,s for the these sub 249g drones they move them into a new weight category (UK CAA) in which you go from 50m away from another unknown person to 150m, a significant difference enough to void it useless as you cant use it in the sea, waves will turn the drone over so it leaves lakes. 150m away from others is just not possible.
Great job! Way too much fun. Just a simple note: if it's fresh water and no river or drainage flow nearby, there's no 'current'. It's the wind, period. Even a slight breeze with these light popcorn flying robots will move them quickly. If it's the ocean, different story, but no current here, just wind. Ps. I would LOVE for a Mini 3 Pro pilot to attach a fishing lead, maybe with an elastic band buffer, to land on a lake and try and catch a (small) trout or bass and bring it home. Totally risky to figure out, and also totally risky based on the unknown size of the fish. BUT! If it's a location that has a good guess on the fish size, like not TOO big, what a prized video that would be! Maybe someone is doing this already. Maybe I should try it. Maybe.... Pss. What IS the maximum lift weight of a DJI Mini Pro 3? Are these the same drones they are using in the war in Ukraine (Glory to Ukraine!) to drop grenades on the enemy? I digress.... great job on this fun video! I was wondering what the application might be, but floating down a slow soft stream might make for some sublime video cuts, especially when you land and take off!
If the foam was made a bit more aerodynamic at the ends, it would be less likely to get caught by a gust and tipped over. Hindsight is of course 20/20.
i am over water a lot... i want the flight time not the protection... add weight and that size in the breeze and you'd be changing batteries every 10 minutes...
I’m so glad I’ve seen someone use these. 😂 I’ve seen them on aliexpress thinking there is no way I would attempt to use them. Is there any need? Maybe like you mention as a safety thing for skimming low to water. Edit: also if you’re brave enough maybe try a drop test to see how they float on the bounce simulating it dropping from a metre or so 😂
Amazing scenery and great footage! I subscribed to see more Videos made by you. Dji Mini 3 is an awesome little drone. I own one myself too und create cinematic Videos. Keep it up bro!
Hit the water and there fried. So do not buy water floats .but cos these drones don't float .it's good to put the floats on .cos if u have dji insurance u can get another drone
I have flown model aircraft off water many times over the past 45 years of flying model aircraft both fixed wing and up to 10 pound rotary. I absolutely love it with fixed wing and it has saved my rotary helicopter more than once. For a small airplane it’s still great but for a small under 249 gram multirotor, the physics just don’t make sense not to mention the putting them over 249 grams. Please remind people of the legal requirements when demonstrating something that makes it potentially illegal. Thanks.
Dang you’re a braver man than me. Any sales coming up for your LUTs soon? Really want them but if I spend any more on drone related stuff the wife’s said she’s gonna leave me 😂😂
How to land on water? What good is landing on the water.... it does nothing... Why anyone would even want to is lame at best.... a touch n go just for kicks? These are for people that are scared they are going to crash their drone into a lake or something... but then they will have to get out to it... they kill the performance way too much... I fly over open water all the time... This is why I get care refresh... so I don't need pontoons
@@DMProductions no really. Why would people buy this stuff? It takes you over 250gr, it's dangerous for the drone and there is no purpose to it. If you need a swim to beacon, maybe.
I've got to be honest here, you've made some excellent content & got some stunning footage. But this kinda video just does nothing for you or your channel imo. Sorry but it needs to be said.
Floats.... There is never ever a reason to use these or a reason to land on water. Ever. If you wan't to use them as a safety reason.. It harder on your motors.blows you around, gets in most of your shots, etc. If you fall from over 50 meters. Your drone will hit the water like a rock and pull the pontoons off. Thus, sinking. lol Great video though! Don't buy.
Sorry I do not see any value in these, it's like leave a chocolate cake in a room with a 5 year old kid, we all know what the outcome would be! DISASTER!!!!

Yes it does and the spong comes in video/photo frame when it's windy

That looks fine for calm waters. Here in in Puerto Rico even the lakes have waves 😂😂😂😂

I consider just zip tying some foam tubes on for when I fly over water/recovery. Under the arms, along the body
It turns your drone into a seaplane. Thanks for sharing.
Would disabling the bottom sensors let me move my drone across the water if I have the floater attached to it?? (New update, for the Mini 4 Pro)

I’m glad you guys do these test for us so we don’t have to. How about getting a leash and see if you can walk a dog. (It may be a short video😊)

The difference in weight means you would go from “zero” metres away from people… (there is no minimum distance with a sub 250g drone 👍)
will it work with mini 4 pro? thanks 👊
Is this Fleetwood ?

Will they fit on the Mini 2? I've always worried about doing follow me shots with my sailing dinghy just in case the drone goes for a swim.
Great video can’t see the link to the floaters though!
Whats also cool buddy is testing a parachute with the Mavic 3. I did a test with my friends Mavic 3 and it works perfectly 👍
Cool 👍
Thats actually an amazing idea. If a bird takes down the drone it has a chance of not being smashed into the floor.
Did you weigh it with them on? im sure they would put it over 250g
Yeah it does puts it over

Do your LUTS on your website work for photos on photoshop? Cheers!
For photo edits you need the photo presets 😊
@@DMProductions Where would I find those?
0:57 you can see the left floaty not being properly connected
1:17 got worried like shit at this point
And negates any advantages to a sub 250g drone 😅
Takes it over 250 gms ?
It does yes 👍
The foam tubes need moving just a little bit further forward to balance it perfectly… great video : )
Wish I'd had this today. Can probably get it and my mostly empty SD card back. But it's probably destroyed and needing replacement
Brave man I would have tried it in the bathtub first... Well done though...
I remember you saying you would never use these !
Thank you for testing it for me! 😀
No problem 😊
Darren, I thought that you were against landing on water?
Had the same system. A guy came with a watercraft, made waves and turned the drone towards... end of story for the drone
bought a mini 2 in January, no way I could try that! not cause I can't control the drone, just cause it's toast if it hits the water!
LOL Darren - pushing boundaries again lol.
Flying on the edge 😂
@@DMProductions You're a nightmare lol
Why aren’t the tips at least tapered? It looks like a kids pool floatie. Perhaps effective, definitely 1.0…
