I swear it’s not just nostalgia but these 90’s comedies were the best, this, Tommy boy, midnight run, etc. it’s because they were funny but they also had heart.
This scene when she says your dad would be proud and he just looks at her and says “no, no he wouldn’t be proud”
Hits hard, because it’s true. His dad wouldn’t have been proud, he’d probably have been disgusted, and I love that they don’t sugarcoat it, it makes his redemption in the end more meaningful. Absolutely love this movie

The Farrelly brothers are experts when it comes to music use. Never seen anyone else incorporate unpopular music so great.

It actually makes me sad how his dad believed in him and he blew it. I know all about that.

The Farrelly brothers are excellent at making hilarious movies with great soundtracks intermixed with scenes that just can get to me like this one.

They were excellent at that in the 90s. They haven't managed to make a good comedy in over 2 decades.

Returning to the place where you grew up with nothing to show, but the wrinkles in one's face. Beautiful scene.

One of the things i loved about this film was the message at the end. You don't get any real revenge on terrible people like Big Ern by making their lives worse, rather you reach a victory by making your own life better.

@1:11 to @1:15 is just exceptionally well acted. How he responds to her telling him he looks "sharp."
It's odd for this kind of movie, but for me that one little response he gives just packs a real punch.

Dumb a d Dumber was a hoot and There’s Something About Mary was a comedic gem, but Kingpin was absolutely sublime. It is my favorite of the trio.

I’ve been failing for the last few years - gaining weight, becoming reclusive etc etc. It would never happen if my dad was here. Because he’d intervene and say something. That’s what I really miss - a role model. Someone to keep me on the right track. Because, to be honest, I find everyone one else will just allow you to keep drifting. To keep failing. Even mothers aren’t very good at telling their kids hard truths.

I know I'm most likely in the minority here, but in terms of Farrelly comedies, I've always liked this movie more than Dumb and Dumber. They're both great comedies but Kingpin had the better emotional moments and LOL moments than D&D.
