    This episode is a step by step guide on how to tie the strongest braid to mono/fluoro line connection there is, the PR KNOT. Though this is by far the strongest braid to mono/fluoro line connection, you do need a tool called a bobbin to complete the knot and a little bit of know how!
    No worries that's why Johnnyfishalot is here!! To help you out! This knot is perfect for any instance where you are using a top shot or long leader, the knot seamlessly travels through guides, is a perfect and stronger alternative to the FG knot, works wonders for offshore and inshore fishing applications. Enjoy!! And be sure to leave comments!

      You bet Ime! My pleasure! I absolutely the uni knot to finish off wraps like in three pr knot and fg knot. Creates a ramp so it's so smooth going through the guides! Thanks so much for watching and the comment! Really appreciate it.

    An excellent tutorial on using the bobbin to tie a very difficutl knot! That said, I hope I never have to tie this knot--way too difficult and time-consuming for me!

      hahaha HI JOE!!! Always a pleasure to hear from you... I mean you tie some of those carp rigs, I think they are pretty tough too... the good ol stiff hinge multi rig, the hair rigs, etc... To be honest, I use this not more for offshore fishing, though I may give it a try for carp fishing to connect braid main line to a fluoro or mono leader... I'll have to give that some thought... I haven't seen a notification pop up for a while on one of your videos?? You been winter carp fishing? I'll have to check your channel and see if I just missed a few episodes. Thanks again Joe... Hope all is well.

      @@Johnnyfishalot To be honest, about a month ago I realized I had become obsessed with carp fishing and my UA-cam channel to an unhealthy degree--those had become my entire identity and reason for living. It's a shame, but I have this very obsessive vein to my personality whose object varies with time. All that to say that, for the time being. I have let go of my video channel entirely. Not going to do any more shooting, editing, or posting for the foreseeable future while I figure out a better balance to my life. I haven't given up on carping and/or kayaking--just, I hope, not to an unhealthy degree! I went out to carp fish twice in January, but couldn't find any concentrations of fish to fish to either time. I could only fan cast about 50 yards max, but within that radius, I could only find the occasional one or two fish--not worth setting the kit up for. I did probe with my Deeper castable Sonar two entire sides of the lake! I guess the carp had moved farther out beyond where my casts could reach or were in another part of the lake I hadn't explored. In my mind, no point in fishing where there are no fish! I'm thinking about fishing this Sunday after early service--if I can locate a grouping of fish worth fishing to. If not, I may resort to a little apartment lake that has lots of carp in it and ser if I can get my first carp of 2023 on the bank! I bought a GX2 Ugly Stik and two of those Sharkey 3000 reels for kayak carping. I'll probably load 'em with 12 lb. mono, since they're a lighter reel than I'm used to (all my carp reels are ABF-50s). I continue to enjoy your new content, and I even go back and review the older ones. Your knowledge of all things fishing is truly amazing, and your willingness to help the rest of us is so appreciated, and not just by me! Keep on fishing, shooting, and sharing, all your subs are the better for your entertaining and always informative videos. Thank you and keep it going!!!

    6 to 8 inches knot ?

    • @Johnnyfishalot
      @Johnnyfishalot  7 місяців тому

      Yeah I like about that in my pr knot... just remember the pr knot is basically and extension of your main line.... vitually unbreakable... hope that helps

    • @ShorrockPaul

      @fishingwithjohnnyfishalot well I am completely confused..at 3.55 you said wont be that long and what you wrapped is about 2 inches... where is this 6 to 8 inches you are talking of. Or do you mean 6 to 8 centimetres. I have never seen a PR knot 8 inches long (that is almost a foot) old days people wrapped about 3 inches now most do about 2 inches max....

    • @bringit3164
      @bringit3164 3 місяці тому

      @@ShorrockPaul A inch to a inch and a 1/2 is fine. 2 inches would be my max if I hit that. Anything after that is just a waste, IMO.

    If you have a bobbin why didn’t you use it for the initial wraps. I think you should have used the bobbin both ways for a nicer knot.

      Thanks for watching @sneekapaloopa... Thanks for the comment. I have tied it that way as well, in the past, but honestly it makes the knot connection double the size because you are overlapping two very tightly wrapped areas of the line (over each other). The way that I have tied gives you the incredible strength of the PR knot, and limits the diameter of the knot which is ideal for reeling the knot in and out of your reel and through the rods guides. The wraps I've done in the video (the first wrap) is more like a run way so the PR bobbin wraps catch on the runway and add strength without adding size to the diameter of the pr knot... hope that makes sense... have a great day and thanks again for the comment!!
