Analyzing As Told By Ginger... (Part 1)

- Looking back on As Told By Ginger, it's easy to recognize that it was a show with a lot of substance. It was one that really came out at a perfect time, and was directed at just the right audience. It's a cartoon that would focus on the struggles of being a kid going through a lot of emotional changes while facing the dramatic waters of junior high school. It would be a show that would touch on topics that many kids would face in their everyday life. On top of that, it did so in a way that really felt relatable. All things considered, it was an emotional journey. The characters were complicated and had many layers to them. That's why today, on our nostalgic walk down memory lane, we're Analyzing As Told By Ginger... We're looking at this show and dissecting just what made it so iconic and what really made it shine as bright as it did.
In the first part of this series, we're laying some foundation for our understanding of the characters, and focusing on building up to the relationship between Ginger and Darren...

Who's ready for part 2?
Watching this video back is so hard for me, tbh. The feelings that making this video gave me are hard to put into words
Looking forward to it
Okay hear me out: after having rewatched the show 3 times at my big age, I can say without hesitation that Courtney was Ginger's true friend. Was she shallow and slightly antagonistic in season 1? Absolutely. But by the finale she was the one who stood ten toes down for Ginger whenever she had the chance. Even when Ginger didn't deserve it at times.
Courtney is a girls girl
I think it's also important to remember that Courtney was also just a kid too. She was spoiled and shallow in a lot of ways, but it's not like she chose to be that sheltered, and her parents, while not cold or unloving, were largely absent. Courtney was a lonely but ultimately sweet teenage girl who just wanted to make real friends.
The creator also said that Courtney had a crush on Ginger and if they had gone for another season before being cancelling, she would have wanted it to be addressed.
I definitely enjoyed this
@@TurbidTG1 did he? what i remember is that that was a sudden internet theory
and this whole episode shows that they made it up along the way, furthermore this came out before homosexuality became as popular a topic as it is today, i don't believe he would have pushed such a crush
and offcourse it seems that tons of cartoon creators suddenly claim characters are gay years after the shows have ended, they made spongebob gay despite him never having any romantic relationships.
i don't think courtney ever gave of crush vibes, more friendly infatuation, the way you'd feel about that friend you really vibe with, we all have them.
I wish there were more down to earth cartoons like this nowadays that shows the nuanced everyday struggles of growing up.
Actual slice of life instead of what passes for slice of life nowadays where there HAS to be some sort of supernatural/secret conspiracy twist because theres NO WAY being a teenager nowadays is complicated already right?
This cartoon and it's lessons are so underrated. I'm glad you're talking about it, not many people liked it but As Told By Ginger holds a special place in my heart. I will say, I'm a little salty they didn't show Courtney at Ginger's book reading. I'd like to think after everything that happened they remained friends somehow.

Glad this show is finally getting the attention it deserves!
I always loved ATBG! I gotta say Courtney was a much better friend than Dodie!
True. After watching these videos I binged the whole series.😂
This show needed to be on the N, remember that subchannel?
Toonrific Tariq does a very funny, deep dive into this show as well. Highly recommend.
You know, As Told By Ginger taught me one thing about Dodie: Never put Dodie in a position of power because then she'll let the power go to her head and she becomes nearly 100% unbearable. I mean she's kinda bad enough without any power with how she likes to be a know-it-all in front of GInger and Macy, lowkey bossing them around.
I absolutely believe she grew up to be a Karen. But it's really interesting listen to her voice actress be so compassionate about her. It's kinda endearing.
@@TheChandraraj12 true, Doodie is not a good character if given a ton of power, but Doodie did have her helpful moments.
@@meganshaw1949doodie
I agree. Remember when she stole the list of people that had lice and was announcing it over the loud speaker? She's terrible with any amount of power.
@@meganshaw1949doodie
I always felt Dodie was not the best friend. She reminds me of a girl who was my middle and high school friend that is no longer my friend because I finally realized she never valued my feelings. Dodie gives me that same energy.
Dodie is a true frenemy. She would throw anyone under the bus for popularity
I think we've all had a friend like Dodie. Had, as in past tense Lol
@@shadowsleuth9279Ginger should have dumb Dodie a long time ago
@@doedee7973It’s part of growing up.
@@doedee7973 Right? It frustrates me so much that Ginger and Macie continue to keep Dodie around. She showed her true colors so many times and yet they constantly forgave her because "We're BFFs!" This show tackled so many other grown-up topics that I really wish one of them had been, "Childhood friendships don't always last, and sometimes for good reason." Ginger and Macie should've dropped Dodie and brought Courtney into their friend group. She was a far better friend than Dodie, and a more interesting. less cliche love interest for Ginger than Darren, the boy literally next door.
And you know what? Im gonna say it: i think Courtney had a girl crush on Ginger. Miranda spent her whole high school life just being a salty bothered queen and only because Courtney showed a lot more favor towards Ginger even though Miranda’s her right hand.
Courtney was originally written to have a crush on Ginger if I recall.
@@morticiax540Honestly im glad they eluded to it the entire time😂 even in middle school when i watched this religiously i couldnt help but notice how Courtney gets when Ginger is around her. I think she gets a kick out of how it messes with Miranada😂
It was middle school not high school but yeah friendships can be like competition as Miranda was threatened by Ginger
I dunno she certainly had a strange obsession with ginger from what I remember but it didnt felt like a crush, i kinda felt as if she wanted to experience life through ginger, as if she wanted to be ginger, she was really weird from my vague memories of the show, to me it didnt felt like a girl crush but something else, of course I could be a 1000th % wrong, but thats how I felt about it, like there was something deeper there and a piece of the puzzle was missing
@@Juvelas3I think you have a good point, if anything Courtney seems like she might be asexual and really wants a life more like Ginger’s life.
I think a lot of Courtney's fascination with Ginger has to do with her, "lower middle class charm". I'm sure she spent most of her life with people like Miranda, more caught up on looks and high society. Though, it is just a fascination, it's not one of those "I'd trade everything to be like that" things. Plus, she does seem to enjoy manipulating situations to see what will happen. I just don't think she sees it as a bad thing, and she doesn't actively wish Ginger harm. Unlike her friend Miranda, who's just a pissy little rich girl stereotype.
Agreed. Courtney grew up never wanting for anything, having everything given to her when she wanted, living in a massive mansion, having a fancy car and driver then there is Ginger who has more or less the opposite, a single mother who is a nurse, pretty standard suburban home, car that could break down at any second yet Ginger was still happy and nice to everyone, even Miranda who was rotten to her all the time… this had Courtney curious…
Courtney is like a fairy queen. Mostly not malicious, but rather curious about the mundanity of mortal lives. To her, the mundane IS magical, because what is magical to us has been the standard for Courtney her entire life.
@@wraithreaper22 Hmm... yea, I can see that view of her. It makes sense.
Yeah the Camp Caprice episode really ticked me off with how Sasha actually believed Courtney’s lies!! It was nice to see her taken down a peg that’s for sure
I appreciate how you're a guy and talking so much about Ginger. I remember loving the show so much, but it was definitely marketed as a tween girl's show. I feel like if I remember correctly, another show debuted at the same time as this one called Pelswick, also featuring middle-school-aged mains dealing with daily life, but it was more gender-neutral in its marketing because it had a male lead. I hardly remember it, but its great to see someone outside Ginger's target demographic appreciating a lot of the show and the characters.
I wonder if the grass really is much greener on the other side? Ngl as a kid I didn't like this show that much because of the art style but now I realized just how deep this show is! Should've gotten so much more love!
I was similar. Always kind of liked the show as a kid but the art and the fact it was a "girl show" turned me away as a kid, but now as an adult I appreciate how deep the show really is
I loved this show when it came out. I was a teen or an early teen when it came out. I love it even more as a 30 something adult, it’s a comfort show for me, this and Daria.
@@jessinthecomments it's really timeless. There aren't many shows, movies, or books you start appreciating more as an adult. The Goofy movies are another example since when we watched it as kids we saw the world from Max's POV but as adults we understand and empathize with Goofy
Yeah true i didnt like the style but emotionally captured all of us because it was good
I identified with Macy most because she's the shy quiet one, so most people ignore her. I'm still feeling that way and trying to figure out who I am. (Also, could she be named after Macy Gray, the singer of the theme song?)
Macy Gray was their third go at the theme song, cree summer the voice of Miranda sang the very very first version of the theme. Then the voice actor for Ginger did it (it was AWFUL) and then by the first episode Macy G took over and we got the bop we have today❤ i think Macy was named prior
@@medeucaa ah, thanks.
Macy is such an interesting character and I always thought it was interesting how she also could qualify as one of the "wealthy kids" in the series, she lives in an amazingly modern house in a good neighborhood due to both her parents being accomplished psychiatrists, but due to their neglect she kind of had to raise herself and is always shown to be on her own and suffers silently about it. It was interesting to see so many subversions to the "mean rich kid" trope within the same cartoon, instead of it being used to create a bigger divide between the characters.
I can see that dotie is essentially parented by macy in some instances
While my classmates laughed at me talking about these cartoons while they watched sitcom shows like Suite Life and Lizzie Maguire (no shade on those shows, I just wasn't as interested in them as a kid), As Told by Ginger taught me more than those sitcom shows evwr really did. As Told By Ginger felt more real and relatable to me than seeing real people act out life experiences/situations.
Yea As Told By Ginger as well as Hey Arnold are way more realistic than most traditional cartoons; most like Rugrats Rocko Catdog Looney Tunes etc are wild crazy hijinks. But yea it’s sucks that many people judge people by what they enjoy watching like who decides what’s cool or appropriate or anything?
Personally can't say much for Suite Life, but for me, Lizzie and a host of all the Disney and Nick sitcoms together created a wholistic package of life lessons along with things like Ginger. There was never any single one sitcom or cartoon that would teach everything, so the more I could absorb, the better. In fact, it's these shows that teach you that it's not cool to laugh at someone for their interests in the first place.
Makes sense though honestly. People just want escapism half the time like their parents.
I watched As Told by Ginger in high school, and it wasn't a very cool thing to do 😃But I found this cartoon to be much more interesting than most teen dramas of the time. The thing is, it's not just a TV show, it's art. The way the cartoon is drawn, the colour, the composition, the character design - it's all incredibly tasteful and sophisticated. And if you combine it with such honest and heartbreaking storytelling, you get a timeless masterpiece.
There was absolutely nothing relatable about suite life of Zach and Cody. Unless you have money there's no way to relate to kids who live in a cushy 5 star hotel, have free reign basically of the whole hotel, and are basically best friends with the daughter of the owner of the hotel they live in. If you combine the suite life on deck with the suite life of Zach and Cody you're now following kids who get a free trip on their rich best friends cruise ship and get free reign of the ship as well.
Dodie is passive-agression personified
Yeah but when you see her mom, you understand why
@@xletragedyx Like mother, like daughter
Im calling it here and now, this channel is gonna get into the million subs in no time, its pure, and wholesome is a good a fresh perspective, Keep up the good work, our boy shawn made a 2 hour movie for us to relax on a friday.
Ive never watched this show as a kid but i really do hate how Ginger's crushes treat her and how forgiving she is. Sasha has been the WORST one by far.
Some of them take her kindness for granted 😔and others are just BAD😠
As Told by Ginger tackled so many topics in a mature, age-appropriate way. It was down to earth, with such diverse characters who all had their own personalities. Even the more polarizing characters, like Miranda and Dodie, were defined characters with their own personalities, goals, motivations, wants and needs, etc. Courtney, imo, was a GREAT character. She wasn't some one-dimensional bratty rich girl.
I think Darren lashing out at Ginger during the school dance episode was more-so him projecting his own feelings of inadequacy onto Ginger. The things he is accusing Ginger of thinking are actually how he feels about himself. I also think that Darren loves the *real* Ginger, not the love-sick version she portrays around Ian, hence why he doesn't reciprocate at the movies. He prefers when she is comfortable around him as herself, rather than her trying to change aspects to seem more attractive. I haven't watched the show in many years, but that's my take on it!
Carl and hoodsie were unironically the best characters
I can't stand Carl lol. Hoodsy is sweet, though
Carl was so mean to Blake for no reason though, he tried to blackmail him, use him when he was sick, the poor boy wanted nothing but to be friends with him. But the way Carl talks is so fascinating love his language 😂❤
@_phew
I was not fond of how he gets treated Brandon who was so adorable imho.
I mean it's easy to say "he was suppressing" or ginger was badly inconsistent. But I think we are looking at this with adult lenses. As a teen, you dont really know yourself and what you want. That's why the teenaged years are about trial and error and all of the messy angst.
As a girl, this sorta mess was sadly normal. 😂 nothing about it was portrayed confusing, it was meant to be confusing.
I was thinking the same thing especially with his take on the dance episode. My friends and I had agreements of doing stuff like that all the time. We never had those types of feelings. And teen emotions are so complicated. You can like this person for a day and than go crazy for another the next lol
@@lelly138 Exactly! It wasn't an "I will marry this man/woman" kinda feelings but of course they are intense and your whole life when you are 13. I agreed for the most part in this vid except for the part when he says Darren was suppressing his feelings from the start when it couldve been just him developing those when Ginger thought about it. And Ginger being so all over the place is normal because she felt things deeply for shallow feelings as a kid. For an adult of course that is kinda problematic because you'll affect other people with being so wishywashy but she was 13 lol
This show was really good, but I never understood why the writers kept Dodie around? Seriously, it is unrealistic for Ginger to stay friends with her after all the awful thing she did. Ginger should have cut ties with her a long time ago. Courtney was a better friend to Ginger.
I’ve seen many (and have had a few myself) real-life friendships like this so I don’t find it unrealistic that Ginger wouldn’t drop Dodie as a friend. Ginger doesn’t really seem the type to cut people out of her life. She’s very forgiving. Dodie’s been her friend since childhood, so they’ve developed an emotional bond all those years, even if it’s not necessarily a healthy one. There are additional social ties too-Macie is friends with both of them and Ginger and Dodie’s brothers are best friends. Breaking their friendship might place Macie, Carl, and Hoodsie in an awkward situation, which Dodie might not care about but Ginger would. Their age is a rough one too. Losing friends at that age can feel like the world is ending, especially for girls that aren’t popular. Ginger would have been risking isolating herself even further and being seen as a loser/loner. Their friendship has been status quo for half their lives and it’s never easy to break status quo, especially as a kid.
I've been friends with a Dodie for more than 10 years, and it was really hard to let go and see how toxic she was, and even when I did see, I kept on forgiving her again and again...
I had a similar friend like Dodie, she actually left me and our friend group to be around with the colorguards and some of the band members.
It's crazy how shows and movies told me that cheerleaders or some popular girls are rude and shallow but for me, it's the colorguards and some of the band members, only because they're part of the games. The fact that all of the cheerleaders are actually chill is, same with some of the popular girls. Everyone has a different high and middle school experience.
Shout out to Macy for the "No means no!"
Your video on the episode "Hello Stranger" is the reason why I watched the entire series, and I finished it a couple of weeks ago, and it's good I did because now I have context for this over 2 hour long video you've made, and it's only part 1! Thank you for bringing attention to this show that's very important to me!
Both Hey Arnold and AsTold By Ginger do a great job of teaching us Nickelodeon fans life lessons. Speaking of Hey Arnold, I'm curious about the next episode of the Dark Side of Hey Arnold. Which character are you going to cover next in the Dark Side of Hey Arnold?
@@self-advocacychampions1117you should cover Phoebe and how academics and pressure can affect students also her unbalanced friendship with Helga
Can I just say that Georgia abducting all those dogs and “setting them free” out of town is possibly one of the most disgusting and despicable things. Who does she think she is telling a dog owner they’re not allowed to own a dog just cuz she doesn’t like dogs. And for her not to get caught for this is the worst of it all. She should’ve gotten caught by Carl and in some way he would’ve had closure cuz she probably did kidnap his dog monster. Then the cops could take her and lock her up…
Carl and hoodsey did catch her wasnt it mentioned that they were in the paper?
@@oooh19We see both Duchess and Muffin following the special and the boys mention catching the dog-napper so it’s possible that Lois and Milty helped them take Georgia down as both Carl’s way to apologize to the principal for the false accusation and closure for him
Unlike Hey Arnold, ATBG did try have continuity
The b stories with Carl and Hoodsy were also really good. Especially when Carls love interest gets introduced and shit gets real very quickly lol
I hated them. Boring trope
I dislike Dottie so much like even as a child watching it I was like why are you friends with her!

1:19:03 Hot Take: Courtney was in love with Ginger, and did things to hurt her at times because she found her crush confusing and abnormal. (I'm bi. I've both had and witnessed similar experiences in middle school. This is just my interpretation.)
Definitely agree! I think if the show was made now I think they would definitely explore Courtney’s crush on Ginger more.
If I remember the writers wanted to include her having a crush on Ginger but Nick said no.
@@AllofTimeandSpaceI once read a comment that implied that Blake (the younger brother of Courtney) had a crush on Carl but hid it behind his snob persona. I could be wrong of course.
Every time he mentioned Courtney’s obsession with Ginger, I was like “Courtney, wanna talk about that repressed sexuality you got there?”
No legit as someone queer who’s had a relationship with someone who behaved a lot like Courtney, she’s def gay 😭 that should be canon
This was one of my favorite shows. I don’t think that Courtney had a crush on Ginger (even if there’s talk about her being originally written that way). Because with that logic, Miranda and Mipsy did too or Blake had one on Carl. All of them were infatuated with her. Courtney was sheltered and found Ginger’s life fascinating because it seemed so normal versus her prim and polished upbringing. Also, Ginger never tried too hard. She was just herself. That’s what ticked off Miranda and why she would go out of her way to bully Ginger. Ginger was naturally likable. Also, Miranda was insanely jealous, but Miranda doesn’t actually like Courtney. She’d play #2 to whomever was the most popular. We see that with Hope taking over. It’s a friendship of convenience. She doesn’t have friends otherwise. I wish we’d gotten more background for her, honestly.
Shawn doing a series on my favorite show again??? YES PLEASE!! I do hope to se a video on the Worst Fictional Character In History Deirdre Hortense Bishop.
I always thought I never watched too many Ginger episodes, yet I actually remember most of the ones you discussed. The "pituitary gland" one I remember because, weirdly, not long after I saw that episode we learned about that gland in my seventh grade science class. Back to the video's subject, I'm actually really surprised at how well they portrayed romantic feelings at that age. Every year in junior high, I had a crush on someone, and in 7th/8th grade, the girl I crushed on was fully aware of it. In sixth grade, my crush moved away during the summer and when I found out, I actually cried. Like, to the point where my mom had to console me and tell me about the time a boy broke her heart in high school. In eighth grade, I slow danced with a girl but was so nervous about putting my hands on her hips, I just let them hang down - I'm still embarrassed by that one. Romance and love can be so confusing at that age, and Ginger captured it so well. One of these days I'm going to have a dedicated full watch of the whole series.
As Told By Ginger is my favorite Nicktoon to this day. I’m so glad you’re covering this in detail
I absolutely LIVE for this type of content! I have so many feelings about Ginger and Darren and having them microanalyzed throughout the course of the show is a ride I am here for!
Also, as a tween girl I loved Sasha and thought he was so cool. Now as an adult I am just like, this guy is such an entitled jerk. I know there's background we find out as later as to some of why he behaved how he did. But at even if Ginger had been dating Ian, Sasha never talked to Ginger long enough to even get to the "I have a boyfriend" conversation.
Man, I got so many good memories about watching Ginger, i always thought it was a really sweet show, very down to earth and mellow, now as an adult i can feel its relaxing vibes more than ever, people always mention the art style, but honestly? I grew up watching most of Klasky Csupo cartoons, it comes with the territory, Ginger is pretty tame in the looks department in comparison to some other shows, and I always loved how the characters circled through different clothing and hairstyles through the series, it made it all very grounded and i always liked how the characters like, grew alongside you, the Ginger that finishes the series is not the same Ginger that started it.
Honestly, I'm glad that people nowadays are rewatching the show again, it's a true gem from the early 2000s
The way I clicked on this video so fast, I absolutely love this show & love that you’re giving it the attention it definitely deserves!
Hands down one of the most underapprecisted cartoons out there. This show could be shockingly deep, it was decades ahead of its tjme in many ways

I loved this show so much growing up! It’s definitely one of the most mature Nick cartoons. I am actually really surprised that there has never been a reboot revival considering the characters definitely all have a lot of potential to be brought back as adults.
Saying thanks for covering this show as I really love this show (ATBG). I also always respect your opinion and it doesn't harm that you share the same name as my younger brother (although he spells his Shaun).
However, I do disagree that Courtney was a bad person. I grew up with this show and Courtney always seemed quite kind hearted but very naieve. This is shown more in the two Camp Caprice specials. She also was brought up wealthy but wants to try new things (like when she had the sleepover). I just don't think you can call Courtney a "bad" person without calling Darren a "bad" person.
Hopefully it's okay to disagree with you because I very genuinely like and appreciate your reactions, this show is just extremely special to me. Thanks
Hey, friend! Sorry it took me a while to respond. I'm starting to catch back up with my SuperThanks now!
I totally agree with you. Courtney is a very complex character who has a lot of different layers to her personality. She's not all bad, for sure! I plan on digging further into that in a video that I'm planning to make about her later on.
Darren on the other hand... Oh, man. Don't get me started hahaha. He's portrayed very nice and supportive in this season, but BOY does that end up changing a toooon lol.
I really appreciate your support, my friend. :D
I value everyone's opinion, even if it's contradictory to mine
I usually make it a ritual after a few years to re-watch this show in it's entirety. It's a show I hold very dear to my heart and I relate to very often in a lot of situations. It was due to your video on her father that got me to binge it recently and I am so happy I did because I really needed it. LOVE the videos on Ginger. This was one of my favorite shows growing up. I would love to see you do a deep dive of characters and stuff like you did for Hey Arnold!!
As told by ginger has always been my favorite nickelodeon show- And she was gone is my favorite episode!
The motto of the show is Miranda sucks.
Good lord these character designs were hideous though
I once saw a drawing where someone relocated Ginger’s mouth to her face instead of her chin and it’s such a huge improvement.

Well, Courtney’s invitation could have been meant for even Darren’s dad. Didn’t she write the correct name on the envelope? Did Darren act so stupid not to read it?
You've made me wish I watched more ATbG as a kid. I think I felt "too old" to be watching it, but I was right at that age when its stories would have been comforting, and Ginger is an excellent role model.
I just wanted to say I'm loving the As Told By Ginger content! Its a really good show that, for some reason, I didn't really like all that much when it was airing. I only really got into it by watching re-runs of the show after it was cancelled, so I only ever saw a handfull of episodes. But from what I remember, I really liked the character development/relationships I saw forming, and I love to see you discussing those stories! I'm very excited for the next part! This show really does have allot to talk about. As you proved, you can easily talk for hours just about Ginger and Darren's relationship, and so many other characters in the show have chemistry like that. Courtney and Miranda, Dodie and Macie's relationship with Ginger, Carl and Hoodsies rivalry with Blake, there are so many great character dynamics in this show to talk about.
I always loved that they actually wear different clothes
Sasha does not deserve some one like Ginger...
Maturing is realizing dodie was a shit friend and courtney was in love with ginger

29:43 Unrelated, but Brandon’s voice makes me think of Wubbzy. Little did she know later… Grey DeLisle is one of the greatest at voice acting!
I'm still waiting on part 2. This video was awesome
This is perhaps the most underrated cartoon ever and definitely the most complex one on Nickelodeon. It deserved better but at least we got 3 seasons and the movie to wrap everything up. The music was also extremely poignant.
My favorite episode is the one about the lice.
That episode sticks in my mind the most. Especially the part where Ginger's mom says that lice prefer clean hair, and it doesn't mean you're dirty.
@@Haxicab I liked it because Dodie became the school's new morning announcer and she started telling everyone's business. I thought it was hilarious 😂
You should do "Dark Side of Arthur"
From the cartoon series Arthur or another one.
@@gracebleekman2557 PBS Cartoon
@@nicksilverstein1193 That’s what I figured I just wanted to check.
This show opens my heart. Even as a boy growing up I had a feeling I'd be made fun of for liking it. But it has lessons good for any gender. If only people can watch an opposite gendered protagonist without implications.
Whoa whoa wait....those stolen dogs never get found? That horrid woman never got found/arrested?
Wtf Nickelodeon.
I watched the camp special dozens of times as a kid, and still had the parts you played memorized! Even back then, I knew Sasha sucked.
Let’s get this awesome creator to not only reach his goal but exceed it! So few UA-cam channels are truly putting out decent content these days and we need to promote the few that do! ❤❤❤
Another Klasky Csupo classic.
nahh she dont get to write a song about one boy and then switch up and change who the song is about last minute thats messed up
This show is underrated
I remember the episode where her mom would not let her shave her legs, even though she knew she was going to be ridiculed for it, and got so angry over it and still do to this day lol. Kids can be cruel and you want your kid to endure for a lesson
I can kinda see where the mom was coming from, cause in a sense shaving can be seen as "adult" and looking at today's younger generations running to Sephora to get the adult type of skin care products they don't need, they're technically growing up too fast. I'm not saying Ginger's mom was right by all means, but I am saying that there should be a moment to sit down and say "Okay, I hear where you're coming from and I will guide you through it, but I don't want you to be near obsessed with it." etc. Same with make up and everything, if that makes sense. So yeah, Ginger's mom was on the right track but executed it poorly.
It's a hard thing to watch your little girl start to dislike and want to alter her body for society's view of beauty.
i know i say this a lot but it's true thank you for your time sharing your thoughts with us you mean a lot to me you hep my ADHD focus alot hearing your voice just helps me calm down my unstoppable energy and just take a breather I'm able to relax hearing you talk I don't know what it is but it's the voice you have it holds my interest so I'm not bored but still calming thus I feel relaxed it's very rare that long videos can hold my interest for long but somehow your videos do hold my interest sorry I'm rambing have a great day and thanks for being so amazeing ^^
AAAAH NEW DUSK TILL SHAWN VIDEO
I don't know why, but Gingers mom reminds me of Raiden from Mortal Kombat. 😂
Is it the hair? It's the hair, isn't it?
@@syrusangi8743 yup 😅
I was a Carl growing up, but only a girl. A weird younger sister
Sis asks what I'm doing (hides papers) a secret mission
Ok, but Carl Hoodise and Noelle are all 100% neurodivergent I say this as someone who is also neurodivergent.
All the characters look like catfish to me
Oh no! Theres no part 2! 😮💨 I was so excited to get to the next one! Watched the whole thing.
Just Like you asked- we want this to be a thing! PLEASE
The beginning of the vid. That's females homie, lol let the girls be girls. Your a tad harsh as if it's rated R over the top stuff. It was light hearted n not as dark as u explain it to be relax bro
I actually really liked Courtney I be er really saw her as being malicious it seemed more like she was completely out of touch and just liked ginger a bunch which made Miranda jealous. It also seemed like Courtney was always sticking up for Ginger and trying to help her (even if the help was not very good and lots of the time hurt Ginger accidentally). Since she grew up in a family so affluent and in such a way that she thought she was the best thing since sliced bread it’s almost thoughtful that she was trying to take Ginger under her wing and morph her into someone like Courtney
Where’s part 2!!
Dodie was the worst. I couldn’t believe Ginger was still friends with her after she tried to break up her and Darren.
I loved this show . It was always so underrated . I love the realistic it is
😅😅😅 so when part 2 coming out? Im anxious to hear your side of the big betrayal. Iykyk.
Fun fact: removing tonsils is no longer necessary
Hello Shawn, I just wanted to say thank you for making some excellent videos. I checked out this As Told My Ginger video, and I’m looking forward to more of these in the future. I do hope that down the road, you’ll talk about the episode, Come Back Little Seal Girl, I think it’s the name of the episode. It’s from season 1, and it’s centered around Macy, who was my favorite character on the series. I also hope you’ll do more videos about Doug, and The Wild Thornberry’s in the future as well. Some episodes I hope you’ll cover are, Doug’s Lost Weekend, from the Nickelodeon series, and A Song for Eliza, from The Wild Thornberry’s. Above all though, keep up the amazing work, and keep doing what you do best. I love how you analyze the episodes, so much so, that I even enjoyvideos of stuff I didn’t care for much as a child, like Catdog and AAAHHH!!! Real Monsters. Finally, if you’d like to check out a different perspective of As Told by Ginger, you should check out the podcast series that got me interested in the series, called, We’re in Between. It was done by a fan of the show named Patricia, and it not only, covered every episode of the series, but it was done very well, and even included some interviews with the cast and crew who worked on the show. Anyway, thanks for being my entertainment during breakfast, dinner, or when I’m bored, you really take me back to my childhood, and looking forward to more videos in the future.
Aw, thank you so much for your support and for your recommendations, my friend. I'm really excited for the video I have planned about Macie. Little Seal Girl is definitely going to be included in that one. :D
I added the episodes you recommended to my list of videos to make and I'll be sure to check out that podcast you recommended! It sounds like a fantastic listen!!! It brings me so much joy to know that you enjoy my videos. I can't thank you enough for being here. I really appreciate it. :)
@@DuskTillShawn Thank you! Glad to know my episode recommendations will be considered for future videos, and I’m looking forward to when you cover Macy in your, As Told by Ginger series. Though I should tell you, as well as As Told by Ginger, Doug, and The Wild Thornberry’s, I also enjoy The Loud House, Hey Arnold, and my all-time favorite Nicktoon from my childhood, was none other than, Rugrats. I also enjoyed the spinoff series, All Grown Up as well, and even the Rugrats reboot on paramount+, while there are some things I’m not a fan of, like aging down Susie and making Kimi the same age as Angelica, there are some cute episodes in that series as well. So whenever you decide to tackle any and all of the series mentioned, I’ll be checking out the videos when available. I’ve checked out some of your Rugrats videos, like the one about the season 1 episode, Mama Trauma. I always found that episode kind of, boring, as I much prefer when Tommy goes on adventures with his friends, opposed to by himself, but I enjoyed your look at the episode in the video you did about it. So whether you do more on classic Rugrats, the reboot, or both, I look forward to those in the future as well. I enjoy all of your videos, so keep it up, and take care.
i love movie so much
