Leopard 2 tank is a main battle tank developed by Krauss-Maffei, now Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW), of Munchen, Germany. The Leopard 2 is a successor to the successful Leopard 1.
Leopard 1 was first produced in 1963 by Krauss-Maffei for the German Ministry of Defence. More than 6,000 vehicles have been exported to Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Italy, Canada, the Netherlands, Norway, Turkey and Australia.
The successor to the Leopard 1, the Leopard 2, was first produced in 1979 and is in service with the armies of Austria, Canada, Chile, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain and Turkey, with more than 3,200 tanks produced.
In June 2010, KMW unveiled its next-generation main battle tank, Leopard 2 A7+. The tank was successfully tested and qualified by the German Army. Its main features include a modular protection kit, improved sustainability and increased mobility.
In July 2011, a deal to sell around 200 Leopard 2 A7+ to Saudi Arabia was approved by Germany’s Federal Security Council.
International orders for Leopard 2 and its variation models
The Finnish Army has bought 124 tanks and the Polish Army has bought 128 used Leopard 2A4 tanks from Germany. In August 2005, Greece placed an order for 183 used Leopard 2A4 and 150 Leopard 1A5 tanks from German Army reserves.
In November 2005, an agreement was signed for the sale of 298 German Army Leopard 2A4 tanks to Turkey.
In March 2006, Chile signed a contract for the acquisition of 140 Leopard 2A4 tanks from the German Army. The first was delivered in December 2007.
The Leopard 2A6 includes a longer L55 g-un, an auxiliary engine, improved mine protection and an air-conditioning system. The German Army is upgrading 225 2A5 tanks to 2A6 configuration, the first of which was delivered in March 2001. The Royal Netherlands Army upgraded 180 of its 2A5 tanks to the 2A6 configuration, the first of which entered service in February 2003. In March 2003, the Hellenic Army of Greece ordered 170 Leopard 2 HEL (a version of the 2A6EX). The first 30 are being assembled by KMW, with the remainder by ELBO of Greece. The first locally built tank was delivered in October 2006. The Leopard 2A6 HEL entered service with the Hellenic Army in May 2008.
Spain has ordered 219 Leopard 2E (a version of the 2A6 with greater armour protection), 16 recovery tanks (CREC) and four training vehicles. The first 30 were built by KMW and the rest licence-built in Spain by General Dynamics, Santa Barbara Sistemas (GDSBS). The first tank was handed over to the Spanish Army in June 2004 and deliveries concluded in 2008.
Another variant is the Leopard 2(S), which has a new command and control system and passive armour system. 120 Leopard 2(S) have been delivered to the Swedish Army. Deliveries concluded in March 2002.
In December 2006, it was announced that Singapore would buy 66 refurbished Leopard 2A4 tanks from the German Army, plus 30 additional tanks for spares. The tanks entered service with the Singapore Army in September 2008.
In April 2007, Canada purchased up to 100 Leopard 2 tanks from the Dutch Army and leased 20 Leopard 2A6M tanks from the German Army. KMW delivered the first of the leased 2A6M tanks, which has been upgraded with improved mine protection and slat armour, in August 2007. The tank was deployed to Afghanistan later in August 2007. The Dutch Army retains a fleet of 110 2A6 tanks.
In October 2007, Portugal purchased 37 Leopard 2A6 tanks from the Dutch Army. The first eight were delivered in October 2008 and deliveries concluded in 2009.

I am German and was a tank gunner of a Leo II in my army time with 20. We have been exactly on this training area. 99% first shot hit rate in 1.1 sek. after spying a target. And 96% first shot hit rate at a speed of 65 Km/h. Every gunner made a lot of shots with training amunition, but one shot is sharp on old tanks standing there with driving mirror charge amunition, that got a balanced curve of only 0,1 degree deviation on targets about 5 Km away. In the hit tank armour is only a hole of about 5-10 cm. Inside the tank everything is pulverized cause of pressure and metallic particles. But most of the time i was sleeping in manoveurs on my optical system^^.

In heavy terrain no tank will go over 50 km/h because they will disassembling itself and the crew. What matters is acceleration, and that's more due to the transmission.

Although the T72 was experienced, Leo overcame him and was victorious. Many fights he won, and after some time he was taken to a training to receive an upgrade (Kampfwertsteigerung). They brought sweetest APC's to him, like the Bradley or the Marder, and Leo with his long gun ... ok, let's leave this part.
After many victories he was freed. Chased by a pack of T62's he hid in a cave and there he found a new APDSFS-T, the DM63. He praised his god Rheinmetall, which knows the secret of tungsten. After easily killing the pack of T62's he dealt with a witchy and nasty BMP, which while Leo penetrated her shot her anti-tank-missile on him. HE rammed the BMP-witch into the fire and got in cover.
Outside he found a imprisoned Panzerhaubitze 2000, and they became friends. Together they searched for glory and revenge in one of T ulsa 34's garages, which emerged all arround the country. During sneaking into one of the garages they made friends with a sexy new Puma. Inside the garages they found a disgusting cult, young IFV's were sacrificed to metal scrapper. Together they disabled the scrapper, and made fat prey like a lot of lubricants, diesel, etc.
They came gefore an old king, named Centurion. He offered them a lot of spare parts and diesel if they free his daughter, Warrior, from T ulsa 34. Finally, after sneaking into T ulsa 34's metal scrapping junkyard, they managed to free Warrior, but sexy Puma was killed by and ATGM from T ulsa 34. Together, Panzerhaubitze 2000 and Leo finally took revenge by killing T ulsa 34's horde of T72's, and his both bodyguards T80 and T90. At the end, in front of thousands of seduced IFV's and tanks, Leo knocked T ulsa 34's turret off, and threw it in front of his whorshippers.
Oh, I forgot how Leo tried to sneak into T ulsa 34's junkyard and was captured, tortured and left without diesel to die ... but that is another story.

@@liebelein801 Richtig - nach einem recht fragwürdigen Bieterverfahren: unter fadenscheinigen Vorwänden, aber wohl auf Druck der amerikanischen Waffenlobby hat die US - Regierung den Leopard nicht in Gänze beschafft, sondern nur das Hauptwaffensystem, d.h. den Turm plus 120mm - Kanone!
Ja so etwas habe ich auch ganz dunkel in erinnerung gelesen zu haben vor einigen jahren. Ähm aber ich denke in Punkt Hauptkampf Panzer liegt die rheinmetall Ziemlich an der speerspitze. Danach kommt noch der T90 Und alles was dann folgt sind ja quasi nur statisten. Aber die deutsche waffen technik ist im rahmen ihrer möglichkeiten trotz der ganzen skandale aktuell meiner meinung nach noch immer ganz vorne mit dabei. Und das ist für eine unterstützende armee Denke ich
@@liebelein801 ...und warten wir einmal ab, wie die Kampfpanzerentwicklung in Zukunft laufen wird: denn trotzdem fußt der Leopard2 auf dem Kampfpanzer 80 und reicht in seinen Entwürfen in die frühen 1970er Jahre zurück. Daher laufen schon Planungen für den Leopard3 als deutsch - französische Gemeinschaftsentwicklung! Vive la France! Die besagte Entwicklung könnte auf ein vollkommen anderes Anforderungsprofil für zukünftige Panzer hinauslaufen: war der 2er Leopard einst noch für größere Panzerschlachten konzipiert, soll sich der neue 3er vermutlich in puncto asymmetrische Kriegführung / Gefechte in urbanen Räumen bewähren. Schon der Leopard 2 A7+ soll diese Anforderungen besser erfüllen können als seine Vorgänger.
Hoffentlich trägt diese entwicklung bessere früchte als die des Tiger Hubschrauber 🙈

It so cool and fun to drive around in the mud and the woods and feel the power of these machines.. I hope they will be able to buy an leopard 2 in the future so I can drive it... The former west German tanks had and have much more powerful engines...
I was a tank driver in South Korean army and when I'm watching this kinda video I'm so worrying about crawler's rubber pads. Changing them up for new rubber pads is really annoying
I was told by a German tank commander that they never drive without rubber pads as they don't wanna change them that often.

Apapun tank nya, secanggih apapun sistem nya itu semua tergantung kemahiran dan jam terbang crew di dalam tank tersebut. Komandan, driver, loader dan penembak. Kalau pengalaman hanya di dapat dari latihan tanpa pernah turun langsung di medan tempur ya sama aja nihil. Latihan yg simpel namun tingkat kesulitan nya sangat tinggi yaitu; menembak target disaat posisi tank berjalan/bergerak sedangkan tank musuh juga bergerak. Minimal Komandan + penembak harus benar2 memperhitungkan sudut & jarak agar dapat titik akurasi minimum 95% mengenai sasaran
