At that time, it was a supertank in all respects. And in some ways it was superior to later models of tanks of the world.

Ис-3 имел хуевую сварку в щучьем носе, поэтому она лопалась. Визуально он хорош, а вот в техническом плане плох. Имхо свое время опережал разве что объект 279, но его свернули

Sadly very prone to failures. The hull cracked for no reason. The engine was too weak and in servicing it was a real nighmare to work with.

@@garry236 the Sherman's had great cannons, but lacked in armor. They were more of a blitzkrieg tank rather than a support vehicle. Charge in, level the place, and bail.

The armor of the Sherman is not that bad as well as it could stop most German 20mm, 37mm, and even 75mm German canons from the front it was only on the sides where it’s deadly as once a Sherman starts to burn nothing is going to stop it

Its from world war 1. It was supposed to lead infantry assaults, it could stop small arms fire, act as cover, break through barbed wire and blockades and clear a path for the infantry while laying down smoke cover. You can call it a moving cover of sorts, the idea was that it would give the infantry a shield and a bulldozer or sorts to break through enemy lines. It’s small and scrawny looking because there was supposed to be huge numbers of them.

Und woher weiß man, dass der IS-3 auch wirklich so gut war? Wenn der erst 1945 gebaut wurde waren die Deutschen zu diesem Zeitpunkt schon komplett am Ende. Er musste also nie gegen Tiger II, Jagdtiger, Maus etc. kämpfen.

@@ssixq об этом многие говорят, но давай вспомним что при введении войск в Чехославакию был подбит лишь один танк ИС-3, а на Ближнем востоке у Британии и Франции были на вооружении кумулятивные снаряды, а на ИС-3 работали плохо подготовленные арабскте солдаты, и брони ИС-3 было не достаточно для выдерживания кумулятивной струи, и кстати, а где подтверждения что корпус лопался по шву? Я вот ни одного изображения не видел, видел как раз тот подбитый в Чехословакии, но у того башня слетела, так как ему в крышу башни прилетело.

Я слышал, что танк вышел неудачным.
Танк как-раз вышел удачным. Участвовал в бою против японцев в Маньчжурии в августе 1945 года. По-моему производство продолжалось до 1951 года, и было построено около 2-х тысяч ИС-3, если не ошибаюсь.
Неудачно выходило у китайцев, которые пытались скопировать наклоны лобовой брони - ИС3.
