You’re so freaking pretty!
I say that EVERYTIME I watch your videos!
Omg, you two are the absolute bestest
Runsprints4life 😘😘
I found Faye in the city about a month ago and just discovered SheRea DelSol literally this week! Then I see Faye commenting on here, of course y’all know each other! I think both y’all are beautiful!
Channygirl G thank you darling
Now I'm questioning everything in life because of the water strand test 😂😂 I may have be a low porosity fraud because that silly strand floating on the top of the water 🤔🤔 thanks for this vid.
Always welcome
Definitely want the Density Video .🙂
Alright!
I just want to tell you THANKS, this video helped me more than you know! That water test had me thinking I was low porosity, but as I answered the survey I realized I'm high porosity. Yesterday was my wash day, and I actually layered my products(out of frustration 🤬) and my hair feels and looks so much better. I now realize I'm on the right track, that's why I rock with you girl. Luv ya!!!💕💕
Love you too!
Extremely helpful.
I've always been confused about the whole porosity scale and where I stand, but answering all your questions made me realise I've been confused all this time because I'm more of medium to high porosity.
Glad I could help
SISSSS YOU LITERALLY JUST CHANGED HOW I VIEW MY HAIR!!!!!! I NEEDED THISSSSSSS
You made sense. Liked that you touched on high porosity haircare 😉👍🏾
I’m holding everybody down
@@SheReaDelSol i see 😊
You're a life saver, I think I may have medium porosity after once believing I was low porosity. All the info you gave was super helpful 💕💕💕💕
no problem
One of the best porosity videos I have ever seen. You and Green Beauty are so on point. This low density, fine strand, coily high porosity natural awaits your density video! 🙏❤️
Thanks so much
This is how educational natural hair videos should be done. Excellent job, sis!!
Thank you sis!
You're becoming one of my favorite UA-camrs!
Aww thanks hon
Loved your video as usual. I’m passing it along to my friends ❤️
Thank you doll!
You're absolutely right girly! Knowing your porosity is KEY. When I first went natural, I was wondering why it took 37 years for my hair to dry, why I couldn't do the LOC or LCO method then I found out that I was low porosity. The thinner the products and the less products I use, the better. Good video ! 💜
You’re so welcome
I’m a new subscriber and i have been binge watching your videos and i must say this video has been helpful i have been thinking i was high porosity and you just taught me that im actually low porosity.. Thank you for a very clear definition of what porosity is
You’re very welcome!
I never had anyone explain porosity like this but I really appreciate it because I used the cup test and I thought I was low porosity but for some reason I knew in the back of my mind that I must be high porosity because of how my hair responds. Thank you!
You’re welcome dear
Thank you. This helped me. I had a hunch that the water test was wrong and that I was high to normal porosity by the way my hair doesn't stay hydrated like other naturals. Knowing my porosity and figuring out ingredients my hair likes and dislikes was a game changer for me. It saves me so much money as well. As soon as an influencer talks about a product I go and look up the ingredients. It's very empowering.
Good for you!
This video was everything. Thank you so much! GREAT information!
You’re so welcome hon
New subscriber and new natural. You have no idea how much this video helped me! Thank you!
Anytime!
Lol all this time I thought I was low porosity.
I’ve found a routine that’s working for me rn but I’ll try & incorporate high porosity tips to see if I notice a difference.
Let me know!!
Glad someone sent me a link to this video. I was about to do that strand of hair floating in a cup test.
Always welcome
GO HEAD GIRLLLL!!! Bout time somebody says the cup method is trash! I learned that a year ago. You and 1 other person has said it. Surface tension is real lol. I'm high porosity and all the points you hit were right on! Great video and your hair looks BOMB, SO DEFINED🥰
Thanksssss boo
Oh my goodness you just explained my whole hair story. I have never been able to retain length. I have been natural for years now and it has made my hair more thick and nore healthy but I still kept getting split ends all the time. I would always just cut it and have it grow back the same length. Thank you this video was very helpful. I think this was the best porosity video I have seen.
I honestly appreciate it
👋🏾 Loving your hair!!! I been so confused about my hair porosity!! Thank u so much for this video!
Thank you! You’re so welcome
This was a whole seminar! Thanks for the info.
You're so welcome!
Yes! Please do one on strand thickness and density!
Thanks for watching
I'm definitely going to try deep conditioning on damp hair for this wash day. Although my hair is still very very short, it wont hurt to try. Great informative video 👌🏽
You’re so welcome!
Thank you for this SheRea♥️💯
You’re so welcome!
i feel like this was a whole video in response to the comment i left on your last video! at this point, i think i just need to pay closer attention to my hair and figure out whether my hair is soaking up moisture and losing it quickly (high porosity?) or struggling to get the moisture in my hair to begin with (low porosity?)
thanks SheRea!
No problem dear
This video saved my natural hair life!! Whole time I thought I was low porosity cuz of that float test 😭😭😭 ya girl is definitely high porosity. Thank you!!
happy to help
😲😲😲
❤️❤️❤️ You're the best!!!
All my love ❤️
So I had my first wash day since watching your video. I followed high porosity tips and my hair looks and feels AMAZING! The moisture level is incredible and I saved time because DC'ing my hair for hours wasn't necessary. I thought I was on a good road with my hair journey, but this information has changed my hair world after only one wash day! Silly strand test. 😞 Now I am re-evaluating my entire life. Lol Thank you sis!
Wow this makes it all worth it!
so detailed omg! thanks!!
Anytime!
Definitely sharing with my mom ❤️ thank you
Wonderful!
Loads of valuable information .. thank you
Anytime!
I love that you distinguished strand size and density because people assume if their hair is thick that it's dense and those are not the same thing. Density = amount of hair per square unit (edit: on your head) and strand size = diameter of your actual hair strand i.e. fine, medium, and coarse. I hope you get to do a video on this and as always thanks for all the tips, from one fellow low porosity natural to another ☺️
You’re always welcome
My hair neverrr retains moisture and it is almost impossible for me to find a conditioner that actually makes my hair feel moisturized. Now I know why!!!!! Love you so much darling, you're amazing
Wow, I am really so happy to hear that. Blessings on your journey!
Great video! It was definitely a game changer for me once I found out my hair is high porosity. Since making that discovery the overall health of my high-po hair has gone from 0 to 100! I now know what products I need to keep my hair moisturized for over 24 hours - if needed. I no longer try to go several days without adding water and a sealant to my hair strands. I do this twice a day and experience no breakage or shedding at all. I'm loving life right about now 🙌🏾 All hair can be healthy - no matter your porosity or hair type. As long as you know how to take care of the hair on your head! ❤
That part
Yup I moisturise my hair twice a day. Liquid mist in the morning and milky detangler and cream leave in conditioner. I shampoo and deep condition weekly.
Ok, I still have about 6 more minutes left to watch BUT I had to pause and let you know how helpful this video was for me! Girl, I have been watching 10 million videos trying to understand my hair porosity, and i'm glad someone finally said that float test was DUMB lol. After watching your explanation I def think I'm somewhere between low and medium porosity. I prefer styling on damp versus soaking wet hair, hair takes a while to get wet and FOREVER to dry, but I don't have too many problems with product buildup or flaking. Thank you for making this video!!!
You're welcome beautiful!
Your hair is looking fabulous. This was helpful. Please do a video on density and hair strand width.
Thank you!
Thank you soooo much for this video!
You’re very welcome’
Thank you. I don't like that strand test either because it doesn't give all information. Like what temperature should the water be: cold water will close the cuticle, causing the strand to float; hot water will open the cuticle, causing the strand to sink. Also, they should do the strand test on completely clean hair, meaning after you shampoo but before you deep condition because conditioners leave deposits to make your hair softer.
Right
You hit it on the nail with high porosity. I definitely have to rinse in cold water after shampooing and conditioning. Also, I always use a leave-in conditioner, oil and some kind of cream (moisturizer). In addition, aloe vera and apple cider vinegar are my best friend. lol
I don’t just be talking lol
Yes please do a video on density levels!!!
Okie hon
this was a good video. You are right about the water test, definitely basura, every time I do it I get a different result. I will try the shower water intake and see what happens
Let me know!
Great video! You have confirmed that I am correct regarding my high porosity and what I need to. I struggle with that cool water rinse😂 I have to ease my hair into it. Please continue to do more content like this. ❤
Will do!
I do too. My hair seems to hate it. It gets hard.
@@mswtaz94 I'm high porosity also and I hate cool/cold water rinses, so I rinse with luke warm water and close my cuticles with Aloe Vera Juice, put a leave in before I step out of the shower.
This was very informative and helpful. I'm definitely high porosity. Thank you.
You’re very welcome
Thank you, I needed this! I am so new to this and could not figure out what was wrong with my hair.
You are so welcome
My wash day is tomorrow. I’m going to test all this.
I think I used to be low porosity, as my hair would take ages to absorb water. But I haven’t noticed that issue in a long time. However I never wondered if my porosity changed or not.
Let le take some notes so I don’t forget anything tomorrow.
Thanks for the video. 😉
No problem dear
Love the video. Please do a video on density
Noted!
Thank you so much for this video:)!!!
You’re so welcome
yes sis educational
🙏🏾
Thank you, thank you, thank you. This video was extremely helpful. I did the strand test before and of course my hair floats...every time BUT it dries super fast, pretty much feels dry the next day so that gave me pause. I took screen shots of this info so I can keep and possibly share, if you don’t mind.
That’s fine
great video. very helpful. thanks for sharing.
stay safe.
Glad you enjoyed it
Very informative video.i enjoyed it
Thanks honey
Wow yup I have high porosity hair! My hair dries so fast while air drying or doing twists depending on time of day, doesn’t retain moisture throughout the week... ugh never thought about it that way. I was just about to get that cup until you said NO...TRASH 😂😂
😂😂😂
Love the illustration! So, low porosity = a cup with a to go coffee cup lid (small hole to fill from) medium porosity = a cup with no lid and high porosity = a cup with no lid, but with needle sized holes on the bottom (water goes in, but goes out quickly) ♡
lol basically
Thank because I was strugglingggggg
I got you!
Ohhh Lord the light bulb came on... I've been doing ish all wrong. No wonder I can't get this this right 🤦🏾♀️ Thanks boo!!
You’re very welcome
Mi gyal almost to that 100k 🤸🏾♀️🤸🏾♀️🤸🏾♀️ This video was everything. I was nervous for a minute but im pretty sure im still low po based on your tests
Girl I have so far to go!
@@SheReaDelSol you are on the way hunnyyyy🤸🏾♀️🤸🏾♀️🤸🏾♀️
I have alopecia so I don't know nor care what my porosity is lol. But I have 2 girls with a TON of hair and im trying to learn as much as I can to keep their hair growing like weeds.. it's a handful but its beautiful! The more knowledge the better because my mom just tried to beat mines into submission instead of embracing it, which is probably why I don't have much now 🤷🏾♀️.
This is very very informative cuz dropping a piece if hair into a cup wasn't telling me much lol. Thank you!
You’re very welcome
As a person who has medium to low porosities in his hair, it feels better to apply my leave ins in the shower when the steam and heat has my cuticles open. Then I take a plastic cap and cover my hair to bring more heat in. But, like you said it depends on the person
Absolutely
I think I have medium porosity. Sometimes it takes a while to dry, but sometimes it doesn't. My moisture lasts but I moisturize every 4-5 days. I think it's a good idea to remove product buildup with an acv rinse to really see what's going on with those strands too.
Glad you’ve figured it out
My hair with no product takes about 45 mins to dry if I just wash it and leave it. With twists my hair takes a few hours to dry but with rag curls, flexi rods or any curling tool I use, it takes my hair about 1 or 2 days depending on how big my sections are.
I have high porosity 😩 and never knew so I would waste money on products on my hair that didn't help since my porosity changed. KNOWING YOUR POROSITY IS SO IMPORTANT!!
It isssss
Very nice video.
thanksss
thanks so much
How did you get your twist out so defined like a wash n go?
Hey Love. Happy Friday and I'm here for this Cause I'm still a bit Confused with my Porosity. 🤦🏿♀️
I think this may be it!
You may have spots that are various porosity levels:)
I knew it.. I believe I have high porosity hair. my hair sucks water in like a sponge. and dries so quickly. I realized in the past that my hair loves protein treatments. I started to avoid them because of other channels then my hair started breaking and losing length and it lingered in my mind for like a year that when I stopped using the product I used for protein treatments that my hair broke off big time. damn. Thanks
Forever welcome
Listen...no one can tell me SheRea dont know what's she's talking about. I've been following you since I've been natural. Once I took a porosity test and realized we had the same porosity I've been following closely. This video was very informative
All my love. Thank you!
My hair is high porosity all over. I moisturise twice a day and deep condition with heat once a week. Every other day I steam my hair if it is feeling dry. As long as I protective style it, it holds the moisture for 8 hours.
Have you tried applying product on damp hair?
@@SheReaDelSol yeah I never apply products to wet hair. That doesn't really work for me..lol!
Gotcha!
Hi SheRea ,ove your videos
My question is - when you was letting the water run on your hair, (regarding low porosity)did you already have build-up on your hair or was your hair was washed
Thanks love from NYC
You can tell on clean and dirty hair
Answering these questions my hair is low high low high porosity 😂😂 but honestly, I might actually be a little high porosity because I never understood how people keep their wash n gos moisturized for multiple days. I do my hair every morning bc by the next morning my hair is tryna start a bushfire on my head smh. But then again, my hair doesn't really like cold water. When I was an avid swimmer, my hair looked dry even if I had just dunked my head. I wish my hair could just speak to me lol
Wash n gos might be the reason your hair is dry. It may not be your hair, it may be your styling routine
I was low porosity when I was relaxed it took hours and days to dry my hair now I have been natural for almost 2yrs and my hair doesn't immediately soak up water but it doesn't quite repel water it's strand by strand basis my hair is more in the middle so medium or normal porosity my hair uses a bit of both low and high porosity techniques my hair holds moisture for at least 2 to 3 days and on the 3rd day it's time to moisturize again, I deep condition every week, I wash my hair every Wednesday that's just the day I follow a regular routine and because it's so hot and humid in Houston Texas I have to moisturize like I'm high porosity cuz this heat here will suck any amount of moisture out of your hair however if I over moisturize my hair my hands will feel greasy when I touch my strands so I have to moisturize every 2 n a half r 3 days depending on the heat it takes hours many hours to dry and most likely when I let it air dry it takes a whole day and a half of another day depending on when I do my hair to dry if I do it in the morning its that entire day and it will dry at night if I do it at night then a whole 24hrs to dry on the entreme side at least 12 hours to dry, so now I believe I am medium porosity given all the facts that you have given me and I use protein regularly and my hair density is super thick it's coarse strands that loves protein
Glad you’ve figured it out hon!
Great video! I used to wonder why my hair never felt moisturized whenever I applied my products on wet/damp hair. It made me think the products weren't working for me. Once I started applying my products to almost dry hair, everything changed! ❤🇯🇲
Factsssss
I was a straight natural for years and decided to start wearing my hair naturally in July of 2018. My hair was high porosity for so long until recently.
I noticed a couple weeks ago that my hair doesn't absorb as much water nor stay as flat as it used to when I would run water over it in the shower. For the first time since I've been natural, I had products visibly curdle in my hair (and I've used 4 products in my hair at once before multiple times.) The hair at the nape of my head actually stays moisturized 2 days longer than it used to. It's so weird and I'm still not used to it. I think I'm medium porosity now.
It happens ! Blessings on your journey
@@SheReaDelSol Thank you!
Are you wear your hair in a wash & go rn? I know you said you weren’t doing them anymore but it really looks like one. And your right about the water test being trash, I treated my hair as high porosity for almost a year and was wondering why my products kept sitting on top of my hair & flaking really bad. Turns out I’m low.
It’s a twist out
Ha my hair is dry before I put the leave in down on the table, struggle is real in Virginia
It may be the products
Thanks! Now I have to go back to the drawing board. I thought I was low porosity but I do have dips and holes in my strands. Now I know it’s because I need a protein treatment. When will you make a video on strand thickness?
I probably won’t so what do you want to know?
Ok. I just need to know how to make them thicker than they are now. Do protein treatments help with that? Is there a vitamin to take?
Aiyah Lee Density and strand thickness is genetic, but henna and ayurvedic treatments definitely help.
Thank you 🙏🏾
❤️❤️❤️this video. I have grey hair at the roots and permanent color on the rest [trying to cover the grey but stopping] The question is what porosity is my grey hair?
Test how it affects that area
Ok thanks for an expeditious answer
Products for high porosity grey hair
There’s a lot of content on products on here
Hello. What's your opinion on the pH of a product and the absorbing property of the product in relation to pH?
I believe it’s true to some degree
@@SheReaDelSol Okay. Thanks
I think I have medium porosity.. my hair doesn't take long to get wet or to dry.. I can moisturize soaking wet or damp.. but never dry.. products dont sit on my hair at all.. but I can only stay moisturized for 4 days in a WNG but a week in a TO..
sounds like it!
My question is if for instance you rinse out your deep conditioner with warm water that is said to open the cuticles..... Would all the treatments that have gone into your strands during the deep conditioning process escape... ??
No
@@SheReaDelSol tanks a lot for replying.... I appreciate you
Hi sherea! I'm high porosity and incorporate henna glosses in my hair quite often, which are working really well. Do I still need to do protein treatments? If so, how often do you recommend? ❤️
I recommend every 4-6 weeks, but it really depends
@@SheReaDelSol oh wow, thanks! Also, if I wanted to start incorporating amla into my masks and glosses, do I have to let it sit for a couple of hours like henna, or is it good to go?
Good to go right away
Did you use gel ?
I did
I am Type 4B and 4C low porosity. However, after washing it dries quickly.
I believe it
Same thing, my hair doesn’t take long to dry, but I am low porosity.
I have thick low porosity and my hair takes less than five hours to fully dry
Like I said, there’s no hard and fast rules
which products are best for high porosity?
I recommend looking for high porosity naturals on here for the best answer
Check out @Afro Khadisiac she has high Porosity hair and she has great product recommendations for our high Porosity hair.
@@LadyBiancaB I live in South Africa so we do not have all the American brands :'( ,but I will look around
So my hair takes a little while to get wet, but gets dry easy, same thing with moisturizer. What does this mean?
It dries fast with moisturizer?
@@SheReaDelSol yeah, I can put moisturizer in my hair, and when I am about to go to bed, my hair feels dry.
Thick high porosity hair more than likely
@@SheReaDelSol okay, thank you so much
Loved this video but I like all your videos I've watched. So I am transitioning for about 8 months, and find my ends are high porosity but my roots (new growth) are low porosity. Which methods would you suggest I use?
I would lean on low porosity as your roots are most important
I'm still a bit confused... my hair gets wet easily but takes a day to dry... I style my hair damp to wet....products flake on my hair... and I my hair stays moisturised for a week... does it make my hair medium porosity or just a peculiar high porosity one ?
Mims E Sounds like medium to me
@@SheReaDelSol thank you!
I'll watch 100 videos and still not know my porosity....im feeling I'm sometimes normal sometimes low depending on the season/ protective styling. Idk tbh
Porosities can change
I've been natural for years and to this day I still dont know my hair's porosity. My hair is so ungrateful, one minute it seems like its low porosity then next it acts like it's high porosity. Idk sis🤔
Answer the questions in this video, it may help
2:30 she breaks it down for you
I think ppl dont understand the strand texture if that makes sense. You can have fine strands and have silkier strands like finallyamber or more fluffy/cotton strands like you or delasoul and this having nothing to do w/ density... i have low density but fluffier texture. I dont think this is something that is talked about...
You are speaking facts!
I already have my graphics done to talk about this but we will see if it ever sees the light of day based on how this video does
Am a bit confused. My hair takes like one minute to get soaked and it takes like 6 hours or more to dry. My hair get flakes when I try to activate the curls. Can I get some tips please
P.S: I just went natural in 2019 after a big chop and I’m just starting to learn how to take care of my hair.
It's probably medium porosity and the flakes may just be caused by products not working together. Test products on the back of your hand to make sure they mix well before applying on your hair.
@@SheReaDelSol okay thank you, I did the strand test and I got low porosity so I bought low porosity hair products. When I pushed it down into the water it rose up lol. I also got high porosity when I tried it again😂. I will try to use normal porosity products. And also when I tried to moisture my hair, it dried up the next day. Could it be because I didn’t moisture well or do you think there is any other reason. I also have an itchy scalp and it itches so much. Any tips pls?
@@preciousadeyemo9 It may just be the products. Fir an itchy scalp, try mixing tea tree oil into castor oil or another oil and applying to the scalp.
@@SheReaDelSol okay thanks so much. If I have any other question. I would ask.
Thanks once again
@@SheReaDelSol just a question pls, after rewatching this video. I tried to test my hair porosity again. So my hair got wet in like 40 seconds and was almost dry after 2 hours(I did use a towel to dry it a bit). Is it still normal porosity? Or is it like between normal and high porosity?
Sis! Is that a wash and go I see??? 👀 LOL! Jk 🤗❤️ You cute. I just thought you said no no to wash and gos 😜
Girl this is a twist out lol
TressesOfAlexis Lol! Oops, my bad.
SheRea DelSol Ok, ok. #definition 😜❤️
My hair gets wet in 20 seconds. My hair porosity became so high from using black soap.It literally just takes 3 squirts of a spray bottle to get my hair wet
oh wow
WHAT2?????so I Actually don't know my porosity
Did this video help?
@@SheReaDelSol Thanks so much,it did help. Will watch again to be sure👌👌
