like every other kid back then had to be home friday night at 8pm to watch the dukes of hazzard. 49 years old and still feel like a kid every time i see this car.
Very nice & so glad it's still got the stars & bars on top 🖒 . Hopefully all the nonsense over the Rebel Flag is done with & one day The Dukes of Hazzard will be back on T.V..
Actually the stars and bars was the first national confederate flag, that’s the confederate battle flag, with a few other names such as the flag of Dixie, southern cross, etc.
Bubba Watson owns Lee #1, the car that jumped over Roscoe at the end of the opening credits. Its was wrecked obviously after the jump, and re-used in the episode Repo Men with a blue paintjob and number 77 on the doors. This original could be the one where Luke, Tom Wopat cut his arm from the side antenna, when he did the first hood slide in the episode, "Daisy's Song".
Great museum by the looks of it, but that General isn't the only survivor from the first series, Buba Watson owns Lee 01 the very first General which was restored some years ago to ride on the road again. Unless this guy means totally intact survivor not requiring restoration. But General Lee 001 is out there.
I'm happy to see one of the originals. If I'm not mistaken, if you look at 1:59, it looks like the double flag is missing from behind the antenna and also the chrome piece from where the leather top met the paint ( I forget what that piece is called) . One of My favorite cars if you couldn't tell by my profile pic :)
I actually found one not too long ago on the studio in the Creek they have really done 100% it was one of the very first car ever used as a jumper and by the way that’s not orange as Corvette read I know it’s weird but that’s what the color is
That was cool they had the General Lee - as well as the Delorean from BTTF, and the Flintstones' Rockmobile. I admit I was hoping they had the Mach 5 from "Speed Racer" and the Mystery Machine from "Scooby Doo". That would've been epic!
As a Afro Latino,,,, I grew up watching this show,, I even had the toy channel leave when I was 5 years old.... The Confederate flag doesn't bother me at all,,, I love this car
1) That is a California General Lee. If it was a Georgia General Lee, it would've had the Rebel Flag and Checkered Flag decal below the rear window. 2) The radio antenna was broken off in Season 1 Episode 2: Daisy's Song 3) The Georgia Cars had a roll cage and no rear seat, early California cars had brown roll bars, and late California had the black roll bar. 4) The orange is too bright and glossy. The TV General Lee had an orange that was more on the red side. The TV General Lee never had that much gloss to it.
Thanks for commenting - looks like you know your stuff. This was the first season car though, may have been different...as they make changes as show progressed. Allot of cool stuff to be posted
The color is supposed to be “hugger orange”, which is a deeper, darker, more red in tone orange. Also, the original “Lee 1” is owned by PGA Superstar Bubba Watson, so this one may have “survived” but it’s not the only surviving General Lee.
I have a friend of mine that has one of the first five general lees it was in the city square during the one armed bandit episode so this is not the only Georgia car
I am not sure how 'readily' available a 68-70 Charger is to build your own General Lee. A lot of those cars were destroyed during the show and the prices on even overly abused Chargers are quite steep. So not an easy investment for people like it would have been back in the 80's.
If this is the Shisler "General" it was never actually screen used on TV. Yes it belonged to WB back in GA and Don Shisler was the transportation director for Dukes. From my understanding he built this car for his son or some relative back then but it wasn't used on screen. I heard the car was built by H&H body shop who worked on the cars when they were in GA. to be used on the show. Shisler saw it , wanted it , took it then told WB it was wrecked so he could work out a deal to buy it.
There are 89,199 Dodge Chargers built for 1969. They only used roughly 326 cars....some of which were the 68 model with replaced grills and tail light assemblies. Its not that bad when you look at those numbers.
Lee1 and lee2 died in Georgia..lee1 got resurrected from the junkyard...lee3 went to California and was totalled...so if is a Georgia lee it would be 4 5 or 6.which I doubt.
